@@RoanokeGaming Sorry to interrupt but I was wondering if you're planning to do more video about the Arachnic from Starship Troopers. To be precise, the Roughnecks Chronicles series.
In lore they counter Control Bugs pretty easily. Both bio-scanners and trained psychics can easily detect them. Whenever someone sets off one of these they're pretty much killed on the spot, preferably with a flamethrower.
Looks like they didn't have enough money for real guns and blanks and squibs, the whole laser gun thing is just a cheap skate move like a really cheap stat wars rip off gun made from a plastic mold. You can see they hardly had any practical effects which are meant to be blended in with CG not a full cheap CG shit show like the film was, the whole thing was a cash grab.
Very true, but it didn't take the bugs very long to create this vastly different new species. They could probably fine tune these new brain bugs to better coexist with the host body.
Well they are able to spread very quickly in a group of humans so likely the rotting on the host bodies is only hinders their operations as they can easily infect more humans in very short amount of time
These brain bugs make you retroactively think about that officer with his brain missing in the outpost where they found the general in the first movie. Maybe it wasn't sucked out by the adult brain bug, but the bug escaped when the body was killed like with Billy.
When I was younger and saw this movie for the first time, it made me think that the capture of the brain bug was orchestrated by the bugs. Perhaps as a way to get more of these imposter bugs on earth. They knew what we would discover on planet pi and even made the whole scenario an ambush. But what if that soldier that was left alive after the first attack was actually host to an imposter bug and fed us the info we needed to "catch" the brain bug. Like a feint within a feint, within a feint.
Theory: The skeleton is stuck in place because it didn’t die recently. It had been dead long enough for various natural forces (erosion, for example) to essentially encase the skeleton in a thin layer of rock, thus freezing it in position. This theory doesn’t entirely make sense, because how was it frozen when it _did_ die recently? But that’s the best theory I have for the skeleton.
Another , simmilar idea; dust storms may be composed of a fine silica and clay dust (which could be a possible sand structure) who's buildup acts as a natural glue for the bones.
So, my idea is that the bugs are masters of bioengineering, and are capable of altering the forms of bug larva to fit a specific purpose. This is likely a biological process they have adapted or created in order to adapt to the environments of other worlds, and to combat the more technologically advanced species who inhabit those worlds.

The federation weren’t the aggressors by the way, the bugs butchered human colonists without warning and consider individuality an abomination to be eradicated.
Not to mention some colonist groups colonized an illegal planets the federation warned them could be infested with bugs and they couldn’t guarantee their survival
@@thefallen501st9 yeah it’s kind of hinted at that humanity was kind of poking into big territory, yeah the federation told the colonists not to go but they didn’t try very hard to stop them. Plays into the idea that the war was staged by the federation.
@@MikeJones-qn1gz The government is very small in the starship troopers universe as it doesn't go about intruding on people's lives. unless the colonists committed a crime, then it literally could do no more than give a stern warning to them. The bugs are the aggressors and as much fun as the original movie is, the director is a hack who never even read the book and just wanted to besmirch Heinlein's story and setting as something it wasn't.
If the bugs as a species are actually controlled by the original type brain bugs, then it would be strange if the soldier bugs were attacking the infected humans because they did not know that these humans were already under new brain bug control. more probably, this was a "trojan horse" type tactic to make the defenders allow the infected humans into the base without much fuss or questions..
He's one of those people who think humans are weak because we have no claws or huge teeth. Despite being a scientists. I guess if your biology is just a given fact you would not think of something as worth mentioning. I mean human endurance is legit super power. Maybe it's a psychology thing. After all an underdog moving up is more interesting
Can I just say, I love how realistic the laser guns seem. There wouldn't be a laser beam like in Star Wars or Star Trek. The end of the "barrel" lights up when you pull the trigger, and bad shit happens to whatever or whoever you're shooting at at the speed of light.

I gotta say, as awful as this movie was, the foreshadowing of the infected eating sugar cubes before you find out they are infected is actually REALLY clever.
Ah yeah the E-Pulse rifles, I remember (at least in the terrain command game) they have AMAZING stopping power compared to the normal rifles *however* they have absolutely *abysmal* range. Like less than half I want to say. (Imo the armor piercing dropping power makes up for it)
I only just realized what was off when you describe the Arachnids. The group as a whole are the Arachnids, the individual castes are what you're describing. The Warrior bug is the default Ant-Lion looking ones.
14:56 - 16:55 - The familiarity of those tracks was driving me *NUTS* because I just couldn't place where it was from. I eventually recognized it as them as tracks that plays during the mission to explore the derilect Collector Ship in Mass Effect 2.

For an explanation of the skeletons being stuck in position, it’s probably just environmental factors that solidify the tendons and connecting tissue of the joints. Since both occurrences are on alien planets.
The best part of the entire movie is that the director literally did not even read the book, and pawned both reading it and writing the movie off to someone else. And they basically memed on him by making said movie a mostly faithful adaptation to the original bar a few details and giving the only indication that the Federation is in any way illiberal as different death counts.
From what I remember if the lore about the brain bug, it actually hollows out the inside of the body by eating everything while the victim is unconscious and shooting out tendrils that connect to the nerves and muscle tissues and allow them to control the body. Apparently the ability to talk is maintained by the bug literally massaging and vibrating the leftover larynx structure
Hey, you probably won't read this but if you do: I think it would be interesting to see you cover Warframe's Infested as a whole, even though Warframe's lore is about as messy and full of plotholes as it gets. Regardless i'm curious of what you might think/conclude from what is known about the infestation, especially now that a bunch more info is available about it with the new Deimos area. It's sort of a hivemind-thing that can infect biological tissue and seemingly even robots to an extent and mutate them into grotesque fleshy creatures. But at the same time things such as the Warframes themselves, the Helminth, and more can be created from it when its properly contained, i think. Anyways, cheers. Been a while since i last remembered Starship Troopers existed and your channel has helped me rediscover it.
The control bugs have a few weaknesses, though; they cannot sustain their parasitism for very long before the body decays, and they would show up on medical imaging, as well as being susceptible to psychic detection, should the psychic know to look for them. (Subjective, psychic abilities aren't explored very thoroughly in the movies) Infecting the upper echelons of command could influence one battle, maybe a full campaign, but the host officer would expire within weeks, if not days. It's a trick that could work once, maybe twice, before FleetComm caught on and enacted measures to detect and prevent infections.
I was actually curious if you could do a series of the xcom aliens. Specifically enemy unknown/within, 2/war of the chosen, and chimera squad. Just a suggestion

Instead of clicking on the video i swiped it away, yet i was able to get here in time none the less.
Early squad!
Yeeee
Indeed.
Yo same
I just want to know how tf you commented the literal minute the video went up? Like.... Am i impressed, confused, or weirded out?
2:53 - I don't think those are laser blasts; I think they're still using lead bullets, and using blanks was too expensive to use so the production team used a flash of light to cover the muzzle to simulate gunpowder exploding.
This is why I am not getting out of my Marauder Suit and I'm staying on the bounce.
Someone read Heinlein
Personally, I prefer the Scout suit but yeah- Marauders are tanks.
@@fwmurnau758 quite a few of his books. All of them pretty good, if a bit dated at this point in the terminology and whatnot but I think that is expected for books written a better part of a century ago.
2:52 Right "lazer"... aka flashlight! I knew it was low budget when I saw that and aswell that it took place during the night and we only saw the cgi bugs for a few minutes in the film!

If there ever was a new Starship Troopers game I hope the devs make new bug enemies based on the insects from Monster Bug Wars.
Theres a game supposedly on the horizon
@@RoanokeGaming , oooh
Yup. Second quarter of this year apparently
You can preview it on steam. Supposed to be a strategy game.
I just wish we'd get more media based on the book instead of the movie. This is the first I'm hearing about the (new) game, though, so I might try to look that up..
@@adamradikovich851 yeah in the novel, the Gov is Big and Authoritarian. Not like the film.
In novels it is not clear. It is three way war between humans, "greys" and bug which are far more advanced than it is shown in movies.
Me: what do you have bugs In your brain?

I thought it was a little weird when he referred to that guy's corpse getting run down by a bug as "maximum potential"
I thought it was a little weird when he basically just stated the false flag theory that stemmed from this god-awful adaptation as fact.

Nothing makes humans look more weak than things roughly two billionths of our size, to be fair.

Yeah but it works the same for other animals. Ants legit have zombies tho, so no thanks
Can I just say, I love how realistic the laser guns seem. There wouldn't be a laser beam like in Star Wars or Star Trek. The end of the "barrel" lights up when you pull the trigger, and bad shit happens to whatever or whoever you're shooting at at the speed of light.
love the use of the Halo Flood music in the background
It baffles me how someone could dislike this video, I mean it's original and interesting content

So fitting for these things
14:56 - 16:55 - The familiarity of those tracks was driving me *NUTS* because I just couldn't place where it was from. I eventually recognized it as them as tracks that plays during the mission to explore the derilect Collector Ship in Mass Effect 2.

Found this channel about 2 weeks ago now, and I’m using videos like this to overcome my fear of bugs and parasites! Thanks Roanoke
"Its not a bad movie." It wasnt a good one either!
When I watch one of your videos, I'm usually hungry. When I'm done watching the video, I'm not hungry anymore.
WHAT DID I SAY ABOUT USING “The Flood” FOR BACKGROUND MUSIC?!? I CAN HEAR THEM IN MY HEAD NOW!! :(
Only watched the original starship troopers but now I'm gonna hafta watch this one. Thank you very much for the interesting vid.
Meh there’s not really a point if u didn’t skip he pretty much summed up the whole of the movie perfectly
"We are like a bunch of hyper-intelligent anxiety-ridden apes" - Roanoke 2021
Makes me think of a more barbaric version of the Goa'uld from Stargate SG-1
Jaffa, Cree!
Oh God Warframe lore, the main reason I stopped playing it in the first place
The control bugs have a few weaknesses, though; they cannot sustain their parasitism for very long before the body decays, and they would show up on medical imaging, as well as being susceptible to psychic detection, should the psychic know to look for them. (Subjective, psychic abilities aren't explored very thoroughly in the movies) Infecting the upper echelons of command could influence one battle, maybe a full campaign, but the host officer would expire within weeks, if not days. It's a trick that could work once, maybe twice, before FleetComm caught on and enacted measures to detect and prevent infections.
I just realized when the bugs are shown you start playing the Flood's theme from Halo CE
The flood music from Halo is a nice touch
I mean, windmilling can be **somewhat** effective if your fists actually make contact with something.
I was actually curious if you could do a series of the xcom aliens. Specifically enemy unknown/within, 2/war of the chosen, and chimera squad. Just a suggestion
