Did this mod a while ago as well. Added factory Z71 fog lights and wired them on their own circuit so I can have all 6 lights on. Not sure if the electrical system can technically handle it but they work lol. Also pulled the fuse for DRL since we all know those are prone to going out when you run incandescent bulbs.

Can confirm that only one side needs to be grounded. They all power and ground respectively to one another. I have aftermarket headlight housings with DRL strips. I just broke the ground from the low beam, twisted the broken wires together, and spliced into the same ground that the DRLs get ground from. The low/high beam switch only switches the ground between low and high, which is why grounding the low beam itself keeps them on when high comes on. When the headlights come on, low/high both have constant power, it's the ground that switches them on/off. Just clarification for everyone else.
It’s 99-02 on all models. I have an 02 burb and an 02 1500hd, both are like this. My 2006 Tahoe takes the Fleece Performance $25 circuit board. That truck with silverstar ultras and LED fogs is downright blinding!

The part that goes under the relays from fleece performance only works on 03-07 gm trucks I ordered it for my 00 Silverado thinking it would work and the relays are in different locations in the fuse panel from 99-02 to 03-07 trucks
Thank you. Oh only one wires ground install matter left or right in the headlights. Not need 2 wires. Very easy to set t tap connect and 3/8 ring 16 gauge. A like $10.
A little off topic but what leveling kit are you running? I bought a cheap one online and it barely made any difference. This time around I want to spend the money on one that I know will get the front end high enough.

I'm trying to get the fog lights to stay on when I turn on my high beams, I got HID fog lights and it's a pain when turning off my highs and having to wait for my fogs to warm up, I got a 2000 yukon xl, it's the same up to an 02 style, I already grounded the low beams to stay on with the high beams, also all HIDs.
Hey man I have a question I’m swapping a 4l60e in my Silverado my truck is a 4x4 with the floor mounted 4wd shifter the transmission I’m putting in is from a 4x4 with the push button shifter I can just use my old transfer case and it will bolt right back in place right?
Yes I would think your transfer case will bolt right up to the new transmission. I would just double check the spline count on each transfer case with a quick google search on each t case.

Yes. Just get another set of 3157 pigtails and splice them into the current running lights. I did that but kept the drl. I posted a video a couple weeks ago
@@EndlessWishlist I really appreciate you replying fast but no what I'm asking is I could just cut the yellow wire ad more wire to it and just ground it,because I was using a wire taper because I wasn't sure if I cut and grounded that it would mess something up,if that makes any sense
If you did that that would make the highbeams turn on when the lowbeams do and not shut off. The way the lights work is both lights will always have power when it's dark out. When you turn on the high beams it sends a ground to the high beams and cuts the ground to the low beams. If you ground the low beams to the high beams you won't be able to turn the high beams off. So no it won't work
Pretty sure DRLs are only on when headlights or off and with it wired like this they don’t come off. Not certain cause my trucks wiring has always been weird so maybe that’s just mine.

I got mine off eBay. I don’t really have a brand to recommend but I can say don’t get the cheapest ones you can find. Get ones that actually have metal pieces in the back. The adjustments should resemble a factory.
sounds like you grounded the hot wire instead of the switched ground... Hopefully you didn’t burn up a circuit in the body control module :-( Good luck.

you only had to ground one side, but awesome tutorial. that was the first mod i ever did when i got my 02 5 years ago.

I did it on my 2002 chevy 2500 and I have leds but the all lights helped way more than oem
My ground wire isnt cut like yours when i unplugged it, should i just tap into it instead of cutting it since i dont know what else its going to

I grounded both sides with t taps and a self tapping screw into metal but it didnt work for me? Any ideas why nothing happened

It doesn’t. But it is a cheap mod. You just need a 5 pin relay
Does this allow you turn still manually turn off the headlights?
Just put aftermarket low beam LED Light in the high beam plug 6000k (9006). You can see, and not blind oncoming traffic with the (9005) high beams.
The reflector housing is still creating more glare for high beam even if you aren’t using a high wattage bulb

You still have the auto on and off. Just when they are on and the high beams are on, the low beams stay on.

That works on 03+ but 99-02 have to do it this way. Ive got both body style

this blew my headlights and brights AND dome lights. can't fix it so far. any ideas? i've checked all my fuses/relays....
