Really neat vox... and the sub bass rumble is awesome. The guitars sound like that band pavement's... Maybe a similar setup in the studio. Nicely done gentlemen
Took some time (I loved all their previous stuff) but this record has definitely grown on me. A real killer! The kings are back. Can't wait to see them again in one week and get smashed in pieces by Swami's guitar riffs and sound!

Holy fuck - on second listen I think this is their best album. The first three songs are up there with Sonic Youth's "Sister" - hypnotic guitar interplay that's drenched in that alien guitar tone. I always expect Hot Snakes to be good, but this is crazy good.

As a side note, a technical question for the guys in the band. I am curious about the string guages being used on the bass guitar. are they round or flat wound? they sound like really heavy guage...

i like the fact that this has a bit more of a rftc vibe to it, and is a little more abstract than the older hot snakes stuff. but, i don't think i'm being controversial in arguing that dlj > rftc > hot snakes, and this doesn't upset that total ordering. it's not like it matters, now. they made their choices, and we have what we have. but, this is in some ways almost a tease....
What's the point of a record like this in 2018? Albums like this don't move rock forward. They don't add anything to the genre's development. They're not doing anything new, different or interesting.
First, it's Fall Out Boy! Second, I'm open-minded about what style a band adopts once it sounds modern. As a rock fan, the only thing I complain about is when bands sound like the last 30 years never happened and get praise for it by critics and fans.
Some bands don’t give a shit about “moving rock forward”, you square. They just wanna jam. Besides Reis and Froberg moved rock forward plenty with Drive Like Jehu so there.
