Anybody who knew me back then would have described me as that hooked chain smoker that smoked 20 cigarettes a day for 8 years. AND THEY WERE RIGHT. But now... I AM FREE from this NICOTINE TRAP and the beauty of it is that it was easy. You too can also choose freedom. PLEASE just read this book.
Being a full-time smoker for (give or take) 8 years, I just had to be reminded that I never enjoyed smoking: the impression of enjoyment was the drug satisfying the lack of nicotine.
This book TRULY works and I recommend any smoker (whether is 1 or 100 cigarettes a day) to read this book.

How is it going Deborah?. I gave up 5 years ago after 35 years smoking. The book really helped me. I read it twice before the penny dropped. Every time you get a craving just close your eyes and enjoy it as it is all the rubbish coming out of your system and thats a good thing. I found the whole process quite nice and i hope you do too. Remember you are a non smoker now so no need to even think about it. Good luck.

I'm 23 and lately been smoking more than usual - 5-7 a day. Been smoking for 4-5 years now. Really really want to quit. I found this book, and honestly got back into it after five days. I was really disappointed in myself. But I can do it. "Cigarettes create void." I want freedom instead. I'm not "giving up" anything, but I'm getting freedom. I need those reminders. Just smoked my last one again for the 20th time. Tonight man. This is it.
    1st edit: 1/1/2021
After commenting, I went smoke-free for 4-5 days, then just gave in because of just normal stress. Kept just smoking until 12/1/2020 - exactly a month ago. I left home for winter break that day and thought it was the perfect opportunity to stop, and haven't touched a cigarette since. Feels good to start the year as a non-smoker! Something I've told myself over 30 times is that dopamine hit is temporary, but the enslavement to the cigarette stays with you. I'm "gaining" freedom by choosing freedom. That mindset is so important. Will keep updating.
    2nd edit: 3/1/2021
Three months. Reminders from Carr I live by: If you are craving cigarettes and are making sacrifices, you are still a smoker. Non-smokers don't crave cigarettes. The pleasure of cigarette is still there. Every smoker knows it. To be honest, that first cig in the morning with a coffee or something can feel very good. And I sometimes miss it. However, the important thing is that nothing can beat the pleasure of freedom, knowing that I'm not tied down by those infinitely successive "pleasures" that is inseparable from guilt and worries. I may think about cigarettes 10 times a day. A smoker will be miserable. I, on the other hand, am reminded 10 times a day of the freedom I now have. Will be back for my year mark.
    3rd edit: 12/13/2022
Okay, it's been over two years. To summarize, I haven't been successful to be perfectly honest. I would go on spurts of days, weeks, months (like 2-3 months) before inhaling nicotine. Sometimes I would turn to vaping, thinking to myself that it's okay since it's not a cigarette. But we all know that dependence on nicotine is still there. Sometimes, smoking would cause shortness of breath during working out - and you think that would be enough motivation, right? To have this dependence seriously disrupt what I enjoy doing. But my addiction frequently won. I would compromise and just exercise less and avoid running. Then I would hate myself and really stop. Repeat this cycle about 15 to 30 times, and now I'm writing this edit. Few months ago, I moved to Kansas City and there's a hookah bar near by. Of course I'm telling myself it's not vape or cigarette. And it's much more "social." Guys I went from smoking hookah like 4 times in 25 years to smoking almost every other day for like a month or two. Dependence is dependence no matter in which form. Today I have an annoying cough from a cold. This morning I literally dug into my trash to grab my vape pen that I threw away in frustration the night before, and started to smoke and cough. Seriously, it's pitiful. Sometimes it can really be scary to have the thought that you are literally trapped and you will be struggling for the rest of your life (like what our friend experienced in the video). Earlier today, I went outside and threw my vape in the dumpster (not that I haven't crawled in there before looking for my pack of cigarettes). I know this isn't an easy journey, so I thought I should share some of these really embarrassing episodes, but I will not stop trying. We all like ourselves better when we don't have to voluntarily "choke ourselves" (words of Allen Carr). Remember we're not giving up anything, but gaining freedom. ---- also, I think it's important to "fill" whatever kind of "void" you feel with something. That might be exercise, a walk, hookah (just kidding), reading, etc. How terrifying it is to never being able to enjoy yourself without a cigarette. A new start - will be back for my year (or two) mark.

I completely agree with you. That book is a fucking blessing.
Friends kept recommending it to me after they saw me struggling with quitting. I was like "Are you serious? A book is gonna help me quit?"
After yet another failed attempt I decided to give it a try. I was like "Fuck, what do I have to lose?"
I was hooked on the book after the first three chapters. Ended up not touching anything nicotine related after I finished it. And was happy about it, and proud about it, and now recommend everyone to read the book. Even non-smokers. It's not only such a godsend book that saves ex smoker's lives, but a masterpiece in writing too.
RIP Allen Carr, and THANK YOU.

@@lindakelley2676 Everything in the book really resonated with me. It all made sense. The fact that my body didn't want those chemicals and poisons-its not natural. By the end of the book I was excited and egar to have my last smoke. I was a bit nervous about driving the next day cause I too had tried many times before to quit. I think the problem was that I was always using or looking for a substitute-candy gum holding a pen or straw....
No substitutes. Just not part of my life. Guess it helps (in this situation) that I'm usually an all or nothing type of person. I really hope you stop. I believe you can😊

The way I used twice in my life after many years to quit smoking. Last time success since 6 Dec 2006:
rule 1: allow yourself to smoke. Play and learn things about yourself with rule 2:
rule 2: every day delay the moment you take your first cigarette, even if it is 10 seconds later than yesterday. After that, enjoy your cigarette.

@@erikdenhouter This is an interesting technique, thanks for sharing. If it made you stop for good then i'm all for it! However, i must admit... It seems that all this technique does is encourage a false sense of accomplishment (if all you do is push back your addiction rather than actually stopping it) and delays the process of stopping the addiction for good. Again, every individual is different and some techniques may work for one person and other methods for others. What Allen Carr does is he dispels this illusion that you "ENJOY" smoking (interestingly you used this word) and aims to get you stopping for good. I've started a new series: these videos dive a little deeper into the chapters of the book (here's the link to the first video: ua-cam.com/video/OPFtOpMD3QY/v-deo.html ). However, I strongly recommend reading the book - nothing is better than reading from the original source itself! I take it from your comment that you're a non-smoker now, CONGRATULATIONS! Wishing you all the best! 😃👌

Hey @King Will 27!! 😃 And yet, it's crazy to think that we prioritise our funds to "feed the addiction" (as I used to say, lol)! 🤔 But you're right, when you take a step back and actually realise how much you're spending, it's hard to justify it for what it is. I remember when I lived in London, meeting a few people who quit solely for that reason. Glad to read you enjoyed the video! There is hope! Wishing you all the best in your cigarette-free life! 💪

that is unreal, but good for them on jacking the price up. I used to stand behind big tobacco and their ability to make money by selling a product, etc. They need to go away. I am a pro capitalist and conservative but I truly believe they are evil and extremely bad for society as a whole. I would rather certain drugs be decriminalized over tobacco. Its evil, as Carr describes in the book. Carr himself was more conservative than liberal but he is smart and uses logic, that is what helped me quit smoking for good.

I remember watching this in the first day of my quit and was thinking man this guy is walking in beautiful places without a cigarette or vape and is just enjoying a walk. I wanted that and now I can : ) I do not care for nicotine or even caffeine anymore. Love being independent from any type of substance. Thank you and hope you are doctoring on

@Jack T Hi there. So.... I still have not had a cigarette. Not even tempted. It's been since July 17th 2021 and it feels good. Really good. Especially when I think about it which to be honest is hardly ever. I'm just someone who doesn't smoke. After I stopped drinking alcohol in 2016 I was convinced I'd be a smoker forever. Thank goodness I was wrong. The book just did it for me. Thanks for asking. Are you thinking/wanting to quit? Did you quit?

I've read the book 1 and a half times. The first time I quit for 94 days after reading it over the course of a few days (March 2020). Then some stressful things came up, and I was back to smoking/vaping for another 6+ months before trying again. Most recently, the longest stretch I've gone was 120+ days until another stressful life event caused a relapse. And again, I've been back to smoking/vaping for 5 months since that last major quit.
I'm rereading the book, and I'll be honest, I'm struggling. On a logical level, I can see that I'm losing nothing by stopping smoking, and am gaining my freedom and other positive things. I agree with most things in the book, but my primary issue is the most fundamental one. I WANT to be done with smoking, but there is a part of me that still wants to smoke. And my fear is that that small part of me will sabotage any attempts I make. How do I extinguish that want for a cigarette, if the book hasn't convinced me yet.
I know my reasons for wanting to smoke are irrational, but I'm afraid I'll never be convinced that I'm done completely, forever..
I've been a smoker for 10 years... I'm 3 days nicotine free and I know it will get Easier to remain smoke free the longer I go, but I really don't feel like it's actually Easy as the book would have us believe. I want to believe it, but if it were so easy then why am I battling myself so much?
    Anyone have any insight?

Yes, I agree with the other comment…it is Fear. I just finished the book and I am also in the same boat. Everything in the book is true and logically there is no reason to keep sucking down those filthy poison sticks. But, something still has not clicked and I definitely am going to read the book again, as Allen Carr recommends at the end of the book if something still has not “clicked”. I feel awful about my fear and I know this is a DRUG addiction, just like heroin or anything else. I will start the book over and I also wish you guys the best too. Let’s do this! ❤️👍

Its like a man who for years was using crutches to walk, even though he didn't need them (but he didn't know that then) and now that he's stopped using them after learning the truth, feels afraid that he can never walk without them. When in truth, he was born to walk and run without them. Its a mirage , an illusion of fear that holds you back. Being smoke free is your natural state from birth. You're just going back to your true nature.

I quit using the book for 2 1/2 months, then I got cocky when a friend came over who was smoking and I had a cigarette. That was it -I was addicted again.
I do want to stress something.
      This is not a game!
It will lead to a slow miserable death. Not a nice quick one like we all hope for.
You can wait until you get a horrific scare from a doctor, or you can do the adult thing and take responsibility.
I don’t say that to be nasty, I’ve struggled over & over.
To sum it up, I’ve decided I want to keep my legs more than I want to smoke. Blocked arteries.
The addiction is real, but the escape is also! Please do it before it’s too late for you.
Jesus will strengthen you if you ask Him to. Prayers and blessings to all. We can do this!

I then ruptured my achilis and stupidly started smoking again. This made me realise I hadn't listened to the book properly, after about a year of smoking again and several failed attempts at quitting I decided to give the book another go. I must have listened to the audio version at least 4 times before the penny finally dropped and I "killed the big monster" and I have never looked back. Keep trying 👍

How many continuous years? I have no idea. I’m 69 years old. I started smoking at age 18. There was one time that I quit for 2 whole years. There were other times that I quit for 2 weeks, 2 months, maybe another year. Sometimes I smoked a pack a day. Sometimes 3 packs a day (60 cigarettes). Three times I tried to quit by vaping instead. That was worse because there wasn’t a natural cessation of having a cigarette burn down. So I ended up ingesting even more nicotine. I threw away at least 4 vaping kits, very costly. I threw away my last vaping kit last evening and today my doctor recommended this book. I’d love to get a free one, but if I don’t hear I’ve won it within a day, I’ll buy it anyway.

5 months ago, an individual answered to a comment similar to yours (also on this video) - They said: "Read it again, with a open mind, it is like removing a brainwash, I also stopped with this book and later had the gift of helping others to stop smoking with Easyway :-)..." to which I answered "I agree"..."Many of the things we tend to believe as smokers are deeply rooted in our thoughts and lifestyle. Give the book another read - hope that helps! Never give up trying!! : )"
When I was a smoker, I tried many different methods of quitting and felt I was missing something every time I got back to the addiction. Perhaps this is how you feel too. This book made me see smoking for what it truly is. If I may, I encourage you to read it again. In all cases please never give up trying! 😃

@Jeremy Jk - I once heard a physiotherapist say to patients something along the lines of "if you haven't got time for the exercises, then you've got time for the pain". Those words really stuck with me. 🤔
Allen Carr (the author of the book) aims to dispel common illusions current cigarette smokers have *without* the use of scare tactics. However, if your method got you to completely stop smoking, i'm all for it! That's absolutely fantastic! 😃👌
I definitely agree with you though: just as I mention in this video, doing your own research is important (and critically analysing what you research too). In fact, I commonly see and read about the effects smoking has on one's health - it's definitely an addiction you want to stop feeding, and quickly!

Read it again, with a open mind, it is like removing a brainwash, I also stopped with this book and later had the gift of helping others to stop smoking with Easyway :-) and if that does not work I recommend tapping on it :-)

Hi Jane! I agree with Connie. Many of the things we tend to believe as smokers are deeply rooted in our thoughts and lifestyle. Give the book another read - hope that helps! Never give up trying!! : )

Hey Leon Low Yaocong! I purposely didn't touch on the subject to incite current but future ex-smokers to read the book and find out for themselves. I personally believe that this book's story, methods, techniques, etc. shouldn't be boxed into a summary - they just wouldn't do it justice and always fall short of the real thing! Sorry you felt cheated and hopefully now you understand why! 😃

@@CapGuy101 after reading the book, I can say this makes sense. A friend asked me to summarize this for them, but I told them they’d have to read it for it to really work. You need to engage with the book
