2025 Subaru Forester | MotorWeek First Look
Вставка
- Опубліковано 19 сер 2024
- Embedded in a crowd of industry friends and colleagues, we watched Subaru roll the all-new 2025 Forester onto their stage at last year’s Los Angeles Auto Show. Now half a year or so later and this sixth-gen Forester is arriving on dealer lots; so, ahead of our official Road Test, we figured it was best to give you the cliff notes in a MotorWeek First Look.

The front looks like a Ford and a Mitsubishi rear end. The interior looks good.
Just got mine 2 days ago. Traded my 21. The ride is much better and quieter. Great upgrade for a car I’ve loved. This is my fourth Forrester and the best.
If I wasn't told it was a Subaru, I'd have no clue of who made it. It looks like a restyled Rav4. In my humble opinion.
Until they show the interior
Looks like a Honda
Looks a bit like the Ascent SUV.
It resembles the Rav4 due to the Subaru - Toyota partnership.
An SUV with big windows! I like it!
I get it they are a small brand but they put zero effort in their exterior styling
I like the styling. Haha.
Styling looks great
Car prices are insane!! 🤪
Wow! My 2020 Touring Edition was barely $36k and now it’s over $41k ???😮
Owned a 2024 Crosstrek Limited for 6 months, found a few issues with the car.
1. Horrible on fuel for a 4 cylinder
2. The eyesight system would shut itself off whenever rain or snow would come and that becomes terrifying especially on longer trips. (Which I discovered with my last week having the car, on a road trip 4.5 hours, and having a thunderstorm an hour into the drive. Systems deactivate and I can’t control the steering well because of heavy rain.)
3. Wish they had a gasoline hybrid model, which they did offer in 2016, then cancelled for some stupid press reason. (They won’t give you a straight answer to that either)
Currently own an Acura Integra, it may be front wheel hatch but the fuel efficiency is nearly double.
inflation my friend
Something off with your post.
1-You're not getting the manufacturer fuel economy numbers of 27-33? Really? And you're Acura Integra is getting double that? Really, really??
As for the Eyesight, it would take really bad rainstorms for it to be affected. But even then, what do you mean that you need it during rainstorms? Even with adaptive cruise control, you're supposed to drive it yourself, it's not completely autonomous. You should have it checked by dealer.
@@tommymas1088 @RetrokingOG has clearly never had a FT AWD vehicle before. The 2016 hybrid and subsequent PHEV were canceled for obvious reasons, all it takes is google to see that their hybrid economy improvements for 2016 were not worth the cost increase (should be resolved in the upcoming Forester Hybrid) and the PHEV never sold well because of how limited availability it was and finding a dealer at the time to service them was just as hard.
Not sure about their gripe for eyesight disabling during rain/snow storms and being unable to handle the steering wheel because of it.. sounds more like someone who shouldn't be behind the wheel if they can't handle turning a steering wheel.
the original poster is obviously a Charlie Male?
Introducing the Ford Forester
Don't give Ford any ideas.
It looks like they hit it with the ugly stick :(
@@timbraun3716 Subarus have never been good looking cars. It’s their thing…ugly.
For 2025 Subaru's, did they get rid of the Thermo Control Valve on the motor that was causing cooling issues?
They actually did go back to a traditional thermostat on the 2025 Forester. Not sure on the other models. They did extend warranty on vehicles with the thermo control valve to 15 years/150K miles.
@@countrymountaintrade Was interested in the Crosstrek Sport and the Impreza RS was why I was asking. Thanks.
that infotainment is 3 years behind the times
The exterior is very 2010-2011 🤔
Vanilla styling.
It’s a sturdy car, spacious interior looks good and well designed. Only downside is the drive, it very boxy feeling, not very fast and not very comfortable…
That 2.5 liter engine is a DOG-it feels like the fuel injectors are clogged.
Bring back the XT version!
Resembles the new Suzuki S Cross. Same designer maybe?
This Forester looks hideous primarily on the outside. The door handles come directly from the Toyota Axio from over a decade ago. The exterior design looks like a mockery of the outgoing Toyota RAV4. Subaru should consider redoing the exterior of this car thus make it look less like a RAV4.
Well i guess the outback is now better looking than the forester again.
Reminds me of the Toyota Grand Highlander shrunk to 85%... And it's horribly expensive
“New” for 25? Looks very similar to my wife’s 2020, & not even that different than her previous 2015’
It pretty much looks exactly like every other car being produced lately 🥱
Except it’s reliable, safe, made well, has the best awd system & the low center of gravity boxer engine. 👍🏻
4 wheels
@@chrisb9478 audi quatrro is better, and subaru awd with average tyres is non better than hyundai awd with a good tyres. And hyundai is begginers in awd systems. In serious tests foresters and outbacks losts to 3-4 models just because 2.5 is weak engine while offroading too. I myself happily drive forester SJ for 4.5 years, but very doubting having another subaru 2-3 years later.
i want manual gearbox frameless windows and a spare wheel.. just like subaru used to be.
I actually disagree with the majority, I think it looks pretty good. I am upset about the removal of chrome trim on the higher-end Limited trim however
It is not hard to see why everyone else hates it tho
Very goooood
Nice success
It looks like the lovechild of an X5 and a RAV4.
Still no temperature guage, ugh. At least it's made in Japan
There's a temp guage.
@@moejr1974 Where?
@@jaydibernardo4320 look at 1:45 on the left
@@moejr1974 I stand corrected, thank you.
Decent looking and capable. I like the dashboard setup and the interior volume.
Any idea on the hybrid setup?
It is courtesy of Toyota so likely a familiar setup.
Modified toyota set up that will keep mechanical AWD, and act as a Series Parallel Hybrid that can have the engine power the wheels or act as a generator. Hoping they don't super upcharge for it, and decid to make it standard on Sport and up. Subaru has published some of it, but nothing about estimated economy yet, but has said that the modifications made will allow a nearly full size fuel tank to make it a long range higher efficiency cruiser. Now, if they could manage this and keep a spare tire I'll be really impressed.
No engine options and way under powered. In fact, lost hp. They need to bring the XT concept back. 🙄
I can deal with the generic looks. I’m glad about the improvements. However, it is still too slow. They REALLY should have improved that. Disappointing.
well, the look is not too bad, especially for an AWD model. but the CVT is still a big minus. i just wished Subaru would just ditch the Shitty CVTs, because its getting very old. and the wilderness might return, but just not yet.
Cvts??
@@insanity23mike yes. because they kept putting that same transmission on every subaru vehicle for too long.
Nice car I saw that at the Boston Autoshow
No manual….😢
Looks like the sunroof isn't an oversized panoramic one anymore, sadly. 😢
@robgindc1 I got a Touring on Thursday and it's definitely an oversized moonroof
It's quite polarizing to look at. There are so many design cues from current (as well as old) offerings from other mfrs. And then there's the transmission issues...cvt? No thanks.
Cvt?
Plus 2 head gasket replacements for free😅!!
****if your CVT didn't brake before.
the head gaskets are fine with the current engines from what I hear, the CVT however can't survive trails sadly
Head gasket problem stopped a decade ago LOL
Played it really safe and bland with the exterior.
Well those have definitely went downhill. Mine is a 2023 and looks 100 times better than that
Looks like Subaru tried to build a RAV4 with a Subaru badge but unfortunately, it is fugly.
# 1 never buy a Subaru. , Two of the four new ones I have owned have had junk transmissions that went out in less than 50,000 miles, The last TWO!. Subura sells junk cars and doesn't care! Go Subaru, out of business!
MW is so boring without John Davis
Same gauge cluster from 10 years ago. And a higher price point
180hp!!!!???
Good luck
If you knew the target demographic, you'd realize they don't care. Subaru will sell as many as they can make. (I've been selling the brand for eight years)
It looks like Ford
Subaru have lost their way. The older models are so much better.
Styling looks Bleh...The Wheel Arch design look really Horrible.....I still like the early 2000 styling way better!
S5 looks better. The 2.5 is so unbelievably dull
Horrible tail lights.
In Seattle these are everywhere…..like cockroaches.
Why
@@insanity23mike Many people in western Washington (Seattle area) want AWD, but at a cheaper price. Many people there want simple, reliable, all weather transportation, and don’t care about style, design, or performance. ……did I mention they’re fairly cheap?! 🤷🏼♂️🤔
Even the color is a yawn fest.. oatmeal brown and no shape other than blob.. will sell well to the masses.. 😂
Vocals were very low.
Subaru doesn’t exist to me anymore.
But you did watch the video and comment. LOL.
Cvt and uncomfortable seats. No thanks. I loved Subaru, but this?
Agree. Test drove one, and the seat was harder and the ride was also bumpier than before.
What Subaru you recommend?
@@insanity23mike old ones with no CVT. Nobody likes these transmissions. The fact that you have to service them every 40,000 miles and a few hundred dollars a pop negates any fuel savings you get.
The subdued and ugly looks should have been rescued by the return of a Turbo model.
cvt will die at 60K
No significant information at all. Waste of time.
Look everyone the all new 2012 Mitsubishi Outlander. Or a $40000 potato on wheels? Whichever still horribly designed exterior.
I don't like the new look. Looks like a Ford
