Dreese, You're right. . .it really is a good long term solution for recurring level issues. I'll admit that concrete isn't cheap, but depending where you live and who you get to do the concrete work - you may actually get a great deal. . .one that you can justify.
EVERYTHING about this setup is PERFECT, I saw the upgrade video to the frame pool too. Absolutely love it. Just fantastic. I totally 100% understand why you did this type pool. I actually did something similar, poured a concrete slab for this type of inflatable ring Intex. Used the felt gorilla pad under the pool too. Now I can take the pool down every fall, and put a firepit and chairs there. My yard is sloped too. The concrete was expensive but well worth it. I don’t have an awesome deck though, like you do. That is gorgeous! Seriously, nice job.
I have one of these pools, I've maintained it with just keeping the chlorine tabs in it. Also, the pump kept it going all season- it's weak, but it is sufficient, for those who wonder. Having said that, I still plan on upgrading to a sand filter so I don't have to buy those silly filters every few weeks. Nice video and upgrades!
I love, love, love all the upgrades. It was very well thought out and the waterfall is AWESOME and even though is cost quite a bit, it looks like money well spent. GREAT PROJECT!!!

I was thinking the same thing! I'm in Ontario, recently got a quote from a pool company for a 12 X 22 ft oval galvanized steel above-ground pool, and for everything, it was about $16,950CAD. The pool itself was about $9,500 then having the company prep and level the ground, build/ install the pool, fill it with water, and put all the chemicals in it, the cost was around $16,000. It also came with a pool kit, so the chemicals, ladder, solar blanket, pumps, skimmers, and a whole lot of other stuff. Don't get me wrong, yes this person is quite handy, and it's the nicest inflatable pool setup I've ever seen, but when he said "all of this was about $16 grand" I literally screamed "AAAAAAH OOOOOOOEEEEEEEEE!!! OOOOOH" ....the dogs next door started barking 🤣

@@mikesanchez9654 Why not just buy a nice $10,000 pool and start building around it? The pool will then last forever (or a really long time) and you can build yearly on it.
@@ps138vs2cavi Because my wife and I are selling this house in a couple of years - we are looking for land to build our “forever home”. We’ll have an in-ground pool for that house, but I didn’t want to sink more money than I did for just a couple years use. I wasn’t really concerned with how long it would last.
I LOVE YOUR SET UP! It looks neat, quality, detailed, and overall beautiful! I appreciate all the work you put into this. Last summer we bought a cheap $30 inflatable pool for the kids. Junk. It kept flopping on one side and then the other. We had to keep inflating it over and over. I'm considering buying this one for this up coming summer. Will definitely use these tips!
Keep in mind that Intex has 13 different "Easy Set" inflatable pools to choose from starting at $99. When I ordered this pool I was really hoping that it wasn't junk, having never seen one in person. I was really surprised at how thick and well constructed the vinyl was. Additionally, I love that it was soooo easy to assemble it - and to fold away for the colder winter months. Go to the Intex website to see the different models, but once you've decided which one you want - shop around for that model number to get a better price. Good Luck :)
Man, you thought about EVERYTHING before it could happen! The good thing is the set-up should work for any future replacement pool you have to put in since these pools do not last forever. I love this set-up! Wish my husband enjoyed pools. He hates them.
You did a terrific thing with your time during covid. Im appreciative of your sharing-even costs because anyone should count up the costs as much as possible before delving into personal projects. You completed it! I like that you convert that space during winter.
I absolutely love your attention to detail. Sometimes we just want what we want.......and it makes no difference to anyone other than ourselves. I also think you were very balanced and fair with your criticism. All around 5 stars!
I thought this at first too, but everything that he did indicates that he plans to get a bigger or more permanent pool. He could easily upgrade to a better frame and liner. I don't agree with putting all of this on an inflatable pool, but the costs are (post-)pandemic prices and quite reasonable. An in-ground pool today is priceless. You cannot get one.

Hey Mike, what an amazing job. I love it when people do things the right way. It appears you do things the right way, and then some! I'm glad I saw this today because I recently purchased the Intex 16'x32'x52" and am in the process of getting my yard prepped for it. My yard has a pretty significant slope so we have to do a few retaining walls but now I have some other things to consider. Anyway, your setup is amazing thanks for sharing!

I have that pool and my yard is also sloped quite a bit. I love my pool but the one piece of advice I can give you is MAKE SURE YOUR POOL AREA IS COMPLETELY LEVEL WITHIN 1-2"! Some people will say that is overkill and level within 7" is fine. Don't listen to them. 7" over 32' is a variance of... I don't know, but quite a bit. Thank God so far I have not had a problem, but it still bugs me that I have a high corner and a low corner. Also, consider drainage. After 3 years I would love to drain my pool and fix that level problem, but since I have no direct drain into sewer, I have nowhere to put 14k+ gallons of water. It would take me twice as long to safely drain the pool as it did to fill it. (at least 6 hot dry days) Anyway, these are just things I've come to realize. I hope it helps you.
Beautiful setup I like it, that gives me ideas for my 31 x 16 x 52" pool. I bought it new from Walmart for 1098.00 with everything. sand filter pump, definitely going for the ladder you a\have purchased. Awesome project love every detail of it, thanks for the pointers.
Mike Awesome video! I'm doing something similar with the concrete pad. I had one poured for our pool and Bonded the steel mesh and a little earth around the pad along with the steel sided pool water and pump. NICE Job and Video! like the auto chlorinator, lights, ground rod, waterfall etc. I get it, the pandemic, only comment is should have gone with a steel sided pool and been done. Again Awesome job and happy to see another individual that over thinks or engineers a project. Thought up front saves dollars and aggravation down the road. I will look into the waterfall feature. All the best and Thank you for the post.

FYI: I no longer have this pool but I have a new video showing what I replaced it with, along with several other upgrades. Type in: "Mike's Intex Pool & Deck Update"
i love your solution. Two tips for 100% perfection of this setup: 1.: noise insulation for the pump, possibly place it below ground, tho i am not familiar with the allowed maximal vertical displacement between your waterfall and pump, a box with insulation should also do it too 2.: it would look lovely to see the waterfall sprinkling out from below the deck from a sort of hidden position Great job regardless!

This is great for someone who can take care of and maintain their pool. Take pride in what you have and do the best you can. It came out fantastic. I had a 15x36 version and there was no way I could afford the concrete, as beautiful as it is. We dug down about 4 inches and removed the grass and dirt, then filled in the circle with quarter minus gravel, tamped that down, then sand and tamped that down, then added the tarp, then the pool. Five years and no grass yet however we didn’t make the circle extra wide so grass grew alongside the pool, it was nerve wracking to whipper sniper it. What ended our fun was a hole in the ring, along the seam, even gorilla tape wouldn’t hold. Putting up a new 18x48 one in a few weeks, not the one with the bubble ring though.

We get rain at some point in the day somewhere nearly every day of the year and a warm day to us is 16 degrees and a scorching day would be 18 to 20 degrees but they don't happen very often. Basically we don't have the weather for pools lol. Best wishes to you from Northern Ireland.
@@kerryquinn7188 wow that's amazing and bad at the same time I would love to visit there is 16 degrees Celsius or Fahrenheit all you had to mention was Ireland and I knew you couldn't have a pool 😂 here in the US I'm in Alabama it is 5:44 in the morning and 70° Fahrenheit right now which means it's going to be a scorcher for us today lol 😂
Your set up is awesome!!! We are on our 3 rd year with the Intex 18x52 ultra frame pool but the hubby took it down to re- level it. So glad I came across your video because he wanted to pay someone to do the work and this looks like a great long term solution!! Thanks so much for sharing ☺️
Dreese,
You're right. . .it really is a good long term solution for recurring level issues.
Thank you so much Lori :)
I love it! I would pay you to do this for my yard. It’s definitely inspired me to strive for something like this! Thank you (:
I think most of this pool he didn't do him self he hired contractors like concrete and not sure if he build that deck or he hired someone .
you did an amazing job..it really speaks to your character amazing
This was one of the most informational videos ever on above ground pools. THANK YOU!!!!
Going to building my own setup soon. Watched all your pool videos to get ideas. Your ideas and setup are very thought out. Thanks Mike!
This is beyond thorough!! 💯
This is a dream setup for a pool. Nicely done! I just wish you had lead with 25:41 😅
I have one of these pools, I've maintained it with just keeping the chlorine tabs in it.
Thank you so much. For a guy that had no idea where to start or how to do what I did, I thought it came out pretty good. Thanks again!
Love this set up! Please do a 1-2 year update.
I plan to make another video here in a few weeks that covers a few changes I made and a full season of set-up and tear-down. Stay tuned!
I thought I was OCD 😃. You did a very good job guy.
As a plumber, I can say you did a very neat job on your piping, good job altogether.
...and best above ground pool ever. This is definitely a project to be very proud of.
Looks beautiful!
Love this idea!! You did a wonderful job......and MOST people don’t want the headaches you mention but...don’t want the expense...in the end you have a gorgeous area AND no headaches 👍🏼 great investment...that’s my opinion...looking forward to more great videos 😁 new subscriber
My man, u just need to get a proper, metal sided pool at that point :)
Or a very small inground.
@@bellatronm5875 Yeah I know it's a lot of hard earned money spent, but there was logic behind it all. You obviously haven't seen my follow up video to the one you watched which explains my motives. Go to the UA-cam search bar and type in -
"Intex Easy Set Pool - One Year Update"
Then reply back and tell me what you think.
@@mikesanchez9654 pool prices in the last two yrs have more than doubled. We have a 21' above ground resin that's if replaced today would be way out of our price range. I think you did a great job at a reasonable cost!!! Great job.
Right!? A couple hundred bucks more, you have a real above ground pool instead of a pop up LOL
Sir, Latin America needs your help to fix their infrastructure. You have done an amazing beautiful job here! Very professional indeed! First class! 👌🏽
I love your set up. I'm trying to find ideas that I can use to make my pool nice. So glad I found this video of yours. Won't be spending the$$ you did but you've given me great ideas! Thank you
Why would you “invest” in all these expensive extras like a nice deck, ladder, the concrete etc for a cheap inflatable ring top pool?
Seems like me, starts with a simple project and then goes to town perfecting it. Really didn't leave a lot of room for upgrades though!
I absolutely relate to his ideas.
The pool is normally cheaper (lucky he got one & unlucky to pay more due to Covid pandemic) & can always be replaced back to its original position anytime if need be while the deck, ladder & plumbing remain intact.
I would advice him to get a spare one ready just in case.
My sister has the same pool and hers costed $768.99 plus tax. That ain’t cheap!
@@lluvvadii maybe so but it’s cheaply made .
If you could afford all these upgrade why not a real above ground pool. This is the cheapest one possible. Don't get me wrong. I love your build.
the price you spent on all of it you could have got a company to put in a pool for that price some pools installed only cost under $10,000
I paid 5k for a pool and the install... 24 ft I believe. It was a few years ago tho.
@@isaackvasager9957 I think he is talking about one of the el cheapo fiberglass ones.
@@teenice894 I did too
@@isaackvasager9957 are joking or serious?? HA HA for $50k I can get my own private pool on an island 🏝 installed 😆.....You can get a 24 ft metal/fiberglass wall pool installed all day for around 5 to 8 thousand dollars depending on the pool you choose . That's Pool & Install!! Id love to know where your living 😂 the prices you quoted $50k can nearly get you a pool with house ha ha
@@isaackvasager9957 They are talking about above ground circular pools. The ones made of metal/fiberglass.
☆ Amazing job this not only looks great and works well you definitely put lots of though & pure ingenious planning.
Thanks for not thinking everything is disposable. When most folks think about above ground pools they believe they are buying a huge version of a blue vinyl kitty pool with filter, pump & pool top was a bonus. To many people don't really plan things in advance & you have to be flexible enough to adjust your plans as problems arise, as we can see you did the job right & it will last. Beautiful job pool, decking, pump, power, and concrete work.
Great video with pro's & con's and the you tube photos of the poor examples.
All I can say is
☆Amazing Job☆
Great video Mike. Love the set-up... we have a metal frame 18ft Intex, brilliant idea and set-up... pasted details onto my husband..Thank you, from the South Coast in the UK
And I thoughts I am mad, building a deck at the side of my above ground pool, build a pool house 5m away and added a solar system.
Great work.
I'd never be able to afford to "Do it right"
You've got approximately a 15,000 dollar set up (electrical, cement, pick, connectors, lights,, ect) for a 500 dollar pool.
You’re right, but, the idea is to upgrade to a better 20 foot above ground pool later down the line when this one wears out.
That’s what I was thinking! It makes sense though when your planning to put a better quality pool in
It’s a extremely nice set up, no doubt. Top notch for every thing.
@@mikesanchez9654 Thanks!
Beautifully done! I love your yard.
couldn't imagine the money spent deck built Hayward pump all for a blow up ring pool 😂 Cheach there own
This guy is savage.. sees a walking stick floating to his doom and goes "so yeah it sucks them in"
Man, you thought about EVERYTHING before it could happen!
16 GRAND Mike it looks amazing but what the hell were you thinking
I was thinking I wanted a pool - but didn’t want to spend 40K for an in-ground pool!
Can’t believe how much money you spent on pump and deck for a the pool that cost 200-300 bucks. But good job man!
I know, trying not to think about it. It isn't the first time that money just flew out of my wallet!
@@mikesanchez9654 hey at least you can replace that pool for cheap if it goes bang now that you got the right foundation !!!
I absolutely love your attention to detail. Sometimes we just want what we want.......and it makes no difference to anyone other than ourselves. I also think you were very balanced and fair with your criticism. All around 5 stars!
You did an awesome job on the set up. Thank you so much, for sharing this valuable information, definitely helps a lot.
At that price you should of done an inground pool and been done with it.
80k
You spent 16k to make an Intex pool look good? Could have use that money toward a nice in ground pool. I think someone needs money management lol
Yeah I know, but 40K for an in-ground pool I could not do - and I'm selling this house in a couple of years anyway.
@@mikesanchez9654 It cost us $20,000 for our bean-shaped in ground pool, with salt chlorinator, heat pump, stone work around the pool, electric work and all.
The people around here won’t touch an in-ground pool less than 80k. Getting one for 20k is impressive.
Yeah sometimes you gotta go temp . You won’t know if you want a bigger pool or not.
Your video helped me decide what we're buying. Thank you.
Hi Mike - Great video and commentary. I think the project turned out fabulous. You are a very knowledgeable guy and did everything first class. I know that you and your family will have years of fun in that pool and that is priceless. Enjoy and thanks for sharing. Love PegEgg
The money they have in the concrete and the ladder and deck and pump they could have got a nice steel pool 🏊♂️
You are absolutely correct Shawn. . .but did you ever stop to think that maybe I didn't want a steel pool? No, of course not. You're too busy trying to convince someone else that you're smarter - when nobody really gives a shit. I bought what I wanted - nuff said.
No I’m trying to convince anybody just stating the facts

It's a gorgeous setup. Pretty awesome and filled with very important info as well. Thank you!

Mike's Index Pool & Deck Update
Very well constructed, and strategic planning. Much application that do work well congrats two thumbs up.
This is one of the most valuable video I’ve ever seen. Words are simple and easy to understand. You showed the worst side of it .good job
This is the best above ground pool set up I've ever seen
Beautiful setup I like it, that gives me ideas for my 31 x 16 x 52" pool. I bought it new from Walmart for 1098.00 with everything. sand filter pump, definitely going for the ladder you a\have purchased. Awesome project love every detail of it, thanks for the pointers.
Fabulous job. Well thought out , clean, attractive. Great set up. Looks great. Also love the upgrade on your other video.
Mike, very clean setup! Nice Job. Excellent touch with the Waterfall & Pool and Deck Lights.
Super great video that allows others not to spend even more. I have had issues with those Intex pools as well. I'm sold on not doing it on the cheap but rather take the time and "do it right." Thank you.
FYI: I no longer have this pool but I have a new video showing what I replaced it with, along with several other upgrades.

i love your solution. Two tips for 100% perfection of this setup:
1.: noise insulation for the pump, possibly place it below ground, tho i am not familiar with the allowed maximal vertical displacement between your waterfall and pump, a box with insulation should also do it too
2.: it would look lovely to see the waterfall sprinkling out from below the deck from a sort of hidden position
Great job regardless!
You did a fabulous job. I also purchased the Hayward system, oversized. Definitely something you spend extra on.
beautiful! by far the best "quick setup" pool
Really good ideas! Thanks! I got a 15ft radius by 48in deep. Haven't put it up yet but glad I saw your video. Gave me ideas for sure! Love the waterfall and lights. You did an awesome job on it for sure!
Thanks Matt - good luck with your pool set up. Make sure to plan out all the details you want beforehand. . .then it will be perfect!
Matt Carroll we put up an Intex 16×48 last year May 2020 just make sure you take your time with the ground prep thats probably 95% of the job the pool set up is easy we put paver blocks ground level under each leg left it up through winter here in Illinois and just uncovered it last weekend Crystal clear but cold lol GOOD LUCK!!

Thanks man. It was a lot of work tho!
I just ordered a 20X52 intex above ground pool for this summer of 2024 gonna just set it up as best as I can to use for now ( which I have been getting the ground ready / leveled 🥴🤦🏻♂️ before it arrives in a week 🥴 by using a skid steer and a compactor 🥴 this “construction stuff” is no joke 🥵 especially in this Texas heat 🥵🌞 for 51 year old guy who’s use to working M-F in a cold AC office 😬🥶 ) …. then come fall take it down and get that concert slab poured like yours and have it ready for summer of 25 🤗 …. Years back one time I had that bubble intex pool like in this video and you are correct on all you said especially the weeds grass growing at the base and cutting it maintaining it same as the pump intex provides which is trash thanks a lot for your videos on your above ground pool set up, one of the best on utube if not the best 👍👍 which I use as a go to for setting up my pool 🙂
Wow great job looks fantastic best I’ve seen yet .
This is absolutely amazing! Pray we have our own backyard some day and I’m doing the same thing! People act like you can’t take it down and put it back up!
I know right!
Thank you I watched it all! I would love a 2 hour video thank you again! It was fun and awesome to watch
Wow!! It looks great. I love the set up. Yes I guess because of the time period in which you decided to buy all this that sellers were talking advantage of the buyers, it did come out expensive for just a simple pool but you did an amazing job. I think the concrete was an excellent idea. The sand filter seems complicated but like you said you wanted to make it easier for you on the long run. Enjoy your pool. Still, I love your set up.
I love the setup!! Looks beautiful
Great video Mike! Thanks for being so informative. Well done!
You have a very beautiful pool set up. I think the money is worth the finished product as well as any hassle that could have been prevented as you mentioned with the screenshots. I would love to hear about the filter and the steps you took to build it for future reference. My family and I are preparing to purchase a temporary pool for the summer but we are planning to eventually get a permanent pool and your video is really selling me on a permanent above-ground pool.
What a wealth of information for my research, thank you! I'm saving this video in case I choose to go with an above ground pool.

All I can say is wow!!! Love your setup!! Inspiring! Thankyou
Wow 😱 you have done an amazing job👍👍 I wish I could do all that set up . Super impressive 😎
Thank you. I think this was very informational. Ignore those negative comments. I don’t understand people. Everyone has a right to their opinion, but geez. It’s so unnecessary. This is great for someone who can take care of and maintain their pool. Take pride in what you have and do the best you can. That pool is better than newer pools I have seen that are the “better” steel pools that are 25’. We are thinking about getting an 12x32 intex pool and I’ve seen people have them for over 5 years by taking care of it and planning ahead. Thank you. Please keep us updated in the pool. 💗
