"Release Shutter w/out Lens" is also there for using manual lenses (I leave this on for my cameras because I own a few MF lenses). If you put on a manual lens, the camera will not "think" there's a lens installed, but by turning this on, you can then use manual lenses without the autofocus contact points on the lens.

The fact that you can get uncropped 4k for 600 is amazing. I just wish canon had third party lens support or more lightweight, less expensive lenses.

Just bought the R50 and I am going thru all the settings as you explained them. Wow, that was a lot of information, I hope I saved it all correctly.

Thanks Jared and Steven. I bought the R50 so that I could have a smaller camera to carry around instead of my R5. I selected the R50 based on your review and the price point. So far I am happy with the results I'm getting. I have been using my L lenses but would like to find a smaller, lighter lens so that the entire system will fit in a fanny pack. Have you used any of the STM lenses? I am looking at the 16 and 24mm which have mixed reviews.

Thank you for taking the time to make this video! Question about lenses from an amateur.... I got the kit, so i got the 2 lenses, but I read that there is a "nifty fifty" lens that is a must have. What is your opinion? I also love to do macro photography as a hobby.... what lens would be best for that?

On the R5 there is a setting called "Movie Servo AF Tracking Sensitivity" where there's a sliding scale. On the low end of the scale -3 is "Locked On" where the focus will track the face no matter who else appears in the frame. On the Canon R50 there isn't a setting called "Movie Servo AF Tracking Sensitivity". Is there an equivalent setting that locks focus on the person you tap regardless of who else enters the frame?

Why do you recommend using a card reader instead of a cable directly from the camera to the computer? taking SD cards in and out is another way to get them corrupt.. i've had them fail on me while taking them in and out a few times before.. never again.. i always do cable transfering now
So does lens automatically focus, object one video i watch shows it being done manually or does this r 50 offer both i am debating which camera,to buy
Does this camera have a built in intervalometer for photos? (I know it has a time lapse video feature like many other Canon offerings). Thanks
#watchedtotheend I learned the +\- or up on the d-pad cycles through the exposure settings. Bought this camera for travel as a lighter cheaper option over my R6 and R7.

my r50 that i bought new got red and purple pixels on its sensor.how can i fix it??cuz this camera dont have the cleaning sensor option that people say most of the time gonna fix this problem
Dude you have so much knowledge on this camera. I get it, however I do wish you would break it down over a few videos instead of cramming it all into one. I don't understand the push from people who undoubtedly have the skill set to teach us assume that this in the only time they have to share knowledge about the subject matter. Hi anybody give me guidance.. recently I bought a canon EOS R50, so when I take a photoshoot on the screen the image looks normal after checking the gallery I'm showing like *mirroring image* so how to fix this issue? Are there any options in the camera mirror on or off anytime else?

All in all: great camera for absolte beginners (though RF-S lenses aren't that many great ones...), but mediocre and frustrating for pros and experienced photographers that just a small, light travel camera. For them, the R10 can be an entry point. Ugh!, and needing to have a flash mount adapter to use a non-digital-shoe flash...
Anyone suggest a good lens (or 2) for video on the r50? Mostly indoor, family get togethers, parties, holidays… Thanks!

34:56 why is it called Drive Mode? You don't have to answer this because its just my curious mind, and it probably doesn't matter to anyone else.
This is tab 6 and it has the settings for continuous shooting and self timers...but why is that called Drive Mode? What does Drive refer to? Its driving me crzy.
Anyway, I love your video, ages ago when I bought my first Nikon, your Users Guide video was indispensable to me, so now that I bought a Canon R50-I bypassed all other searches and went straight to your video because I knew it would be the best.

Drive is referring to Framerate: whether you want it to shoot one picture, 5 pictures, 10 pictures at a time, etc. Self timer is included. It's like telling your car should you be in 1st, 2nd, 3rd gear, etc. How fast do you want the camera to shoot. Hope this helps

USB c port doesnt charge
Yes it does, but not with any cable. Mine works with cables that are meant to take some power, like my external SSD's, but any phone USB-C won't.
