Lol, I have a myriad of random scraps of STUFF in my space-that are going to get put in a big box (or two lol) labeled "art inspirations" as soon as I get organized (still finishing up my "Spring cleaning 2018 that never ended" tho actually 😕😄)-almost there! I LITERALLY moved to where I now live, with a suitcase of my life's belongings (5yrs ago-43yo), my purse and my cat. But IN that suitcase, carefully placed at the bottom, were some of my sketches from my time at F.I.T. and artwork done in highschool. I dragged these things from house to house and state to state lol. And as a lifelong artist, I find inspirations in all KINDS of things that I collect for that time when I need a lil boost in ideas! But as a lifelong smoker, I have thought that would be a cool thing to try to do as a piece (one upon a time lol). Decades ago actually, but as soon as I read your post, I was like YEAH! 😶 That WOULD be a pretty darn cool thing to do! ❗😄😜👍❗

You are not alone! And thanks to this video I know that I'm not either! Thank you! I often feel a strong desire to draw or paint, but I don't always know what, so I never feel as productive as I could be.
I’m 48 and have struggled to be good at anything my whole life. You’re obviously much younger and produce works of extraordinary beauty and complexity. If I managed to produce one of your pieces in a lifetime I would be thrilled. Hopefully you don’t worry too much about finding inspiration.

Very valuable video and advice. It literally frees so many of us who are paralyzed by the angst of having ideas that are not “original enough”. It is just part of the process. Ideas are recycled and refined. As Jono puts it, ideas are often vague and fragile. It is important to capture them immediately before they vanish, as at first they usually are mere feelings and impressions. I am very glad to now to be supporting Jono’s fantastic work on Patreon. I encourage you all watching this video to also join Patreon and get access to more of the content produced by Jono. Great value. I think there’s a link below the video. Cheers

Jono, I can't thank you enough for the work you do and what you are doing for me, I love you work you do and love the dark. I have only been drawing for about 5 years and I'm real old too. So I will never be a pro, but I love drawing and I draw for myself and friends. Yes I heard you loud and clear, I struggle with trying to figure out what or how to draw something. Again, thank you.
I really connected with your statement about being able to let go when an idea just doesn’t work. In my direct stone carving, I’ve had to learn to be extremely flexible with that concept. The few times that I’ve had very specific ideas for a stone...times when I’ve actually put ideas to paper, the stones have broken during the carving process. I’ve had to learn to step away, regroup, and let new ideas form, or just continue carving until I recognize something special happening and move in that direction. Many thanks Jono for your expertise, guidance, and inspiration! Cheers from Florida 🌞
Jono when I very first came across your channel your artwork completely blew me away! I'm a photographer and first seeing your images i thought they were photographs!. Absolutely adore your work.

I learned not to settle on my first idea. Just work it out on paper for a while! Thank you for your videos!!!
As mentioned below, even one of your works produced in a lifetime is an astounding thing. But you absolutely are not alone. I've done more writing than art, but have the same problems sometimes. And you inspired an idea during this video, btw Escher's hands and your interpretation, gave me a thought of doing my own using yet another artist's famed style as an inspiration fr the interior of the hands, in order to express my personal identity and what my hands and the rest of me have been through this lifetime, which is a lot. Thanks for letting us in, sharing your thoughts, techniques and experiences. I especially like your works with antlers, trees and wildlife, and the unexpected ways you use the human body as a base for the rest of the piece, reminding us of our humanity, relationships to Nature, each other, ourselves and the fact that a body and the lifetime spent within it are a series of experiences. You and your mom are so fortunate to have such a good relationship and communication as colleagues and friends. Looking forward to the next video. Bright blessings and much love and light from Louisiana.

Seeing your creative process is so inspiring to me, Jono. Thank you so much for sharing these. Yes, being an artist is tough. People think it comes easy, but the amount of work needed to get a work completed, from getting the idea to effectively putting it down, yeah, not easy. 75% of all the work is in our heads. What comes after that is the easy part sometimes. Great job, I can't wait to see what else you will create that I know will take my breath away. Stay safe and keep being you. Thank you.

I don't know anyone that doesn't have self doubt regardless of what they do, artist tend to perhaps confront it a little more than others because the nature of the work / beast, we tend to spend a little more time in our own heads.
