I haven't watched yet, so sorry if you answered this but how long have you owned it and would you do it again, if you had to start over? Thinking about a Nismo 370 as my next car. Owned my 06 STi for 16 years and I'm ready for RWD but I was mostly considering a V8. It will be a street only car.
@@hhaste I've owned it for a little under a year and I'd do it again. In your case though, I'd definitely consider a Corvette if you're looking for a V8. Even base C6's around the same price feel much faster and sound like freedom.
I'd definitely recommend a 370z but it depends what you're looking for. It's definitely a very comfortable car that will be reliable for years. I'd consider saving the money and just getting a Sport package (LSD, Rev match, big brakes) instead of the Nismo trim. Nismo's seem pretty expensive considering what they come with (mostly exterior and slightly stiffer suspension).
@@pattyboi how do you know what to look for (green flags vs. red flags) when buying these used? besides it being completely stock.
@@EyeDoctorJoe great question, there's two big issues with the 370z's. If it's pre-2014 it would be good to make sure it's had the gallery gaskets serviced with aftermarket parts, OEM tends to fail and drop oil pressure suddenly. The clutch slave cylinder also has issues, it's good to really feel out the clutch when you're test driving to make sure the engagement feels strong. Other than that it's just normal car things to watch out for! One thing I'd mention is that these are prone to rust with a lot of the underbody and fasteners. Mine is lower mileage @65k and has barely been driven in the winter....super rusty on all the bracing and exhaust. Definitely very cheap metal was used so take a good look underneath. Overall, they're very reliable if taken care of! The VQs once sorted out are seriously strong and reliable. Hope this helps 😁

This is honestly one of the best looking sports cars ever made. Take the badge off and look at it in a vacuum and just by the look of it you know it's gonna be fun. Great color, sound, good wheels and stance. Nice!

@@TheTopher Do you remember the the Top Gear review of the original 350? They reviewed it against the RX8 since they released about the same time. They said it was the “Butch Car” vs the “little Wankel”. 😂
After 6 years daily driving a 370z I ended up falling in love with the FRS/BRZ chassis and getting out of the Z game. The Z felt crazy heavy in comparison, but also had a much better engine. I do miss it some days, nice to see them still appreciated.
I absolutely love VQ37VHR vehicles. Used to own a 2015 Q50 with similar mods and tuned with ECUTEK, traded it in to get my ND2 Miata, and just recently picked up one of the last model years of QX50 with a VQ as a second car.
Love the 370z. Described it perfectly as a GT/Sports Car.
All a 370z needs is:
-CSC exterior relocation
-healthy exhaust system
-long tube cold air intakes
- coilovers or sway bars or both
And a mechanical diff. Open diff is trash.

This is how tunner should be lol no excessive amount of extra parts no garbage unbalanced wrap just slightly changing from stock. I love it
The 370Z is underrated, and in many ways forgotten because it's misunderstood. The movies make it seem like this insane straight line car, but in reality it's more like something between a Mazda Miata and a Porsche Boxster of that era. The stock clutch pedal has a horrible feel for sure. Replacing the pedal's helper spring with a softer one and getting the CSC delete done will make a massive difference. I've had my 2017 for going on three years now and it's just the perfect car. I even drive it in the snow.
Yo tengo 2 370z entre ellos un Nismo con muchísimas modificaciones y tengo muy malas experiencia con estos coches ejemplo el clutch de fábrica no sirve en ninguna de sus versiones , el aceite se calienta a full el alterador no es muy bueno tampoco y el tanque de la gasolina si no está a full cuando doblas derecha le falta gasolina a la bomba y te corta la potencia son muchas fallas para un coche que no es barato

I remember when 370zs were dirt cheap right before covid. You could get a 2 year old one in low 20s. Man I regret not getting one back then. Now the same cars are selling for 38k here in Canada (I know, stupid)!
You can still get a base 370 for high 20s low 30s in canada with pretty low kms.
Ah this brings me back, I had an 05 G35x that I modified a bit for auto cross, the car was very enjoyable and capable for a big awd 4 door. Gotta say, your VQ impression was literally spot on, sounded like my Gina with her header back megan racing exhaust.

Get the zspeed stage 2 quite clutch and lightweight flywheel/CMAK kit.. Single best upgrade you can get for that car. Got mine about 5 months ago and absolutely LOOOOOVE the Z now. Feels like a whole different car

For some reason, G37s are cheaper than 370Z these days, for same mileage. If you don't mind the extra two seats and more luxury features, G37s are the cheaper way to get into VQs. Also, Infinities are less likely to get beaten on by previous owners, mostly owned by old professional ladies. For Zs, people beat the crap out of them, track them, mod them. A clean one is very hard to come by.
lol Infinities are less likely to be beaten on? Maybe a Journey. It's hard to come across a clean non beaten on sport. Especially a manual. I love mine though
@@bloroxcleach I lucked out beyond belief with my recent one (not the one on my pfp that was my last VQ) I I was able to get into a very clean, 1 owner G37 coupe 6mt. Have to agree, the Infinitis are way more likely to be beat on than a 370z.

15:34 thats true, those shifters are 2 piece with a little washer, and it becomes loose over time and rattles, that's why so many including me replace it with a solid alluminum shifter or something else.
I think that's coming up for me, I can't stand that rattle anymore even though I do like the stock shift knob

had a 20' 370z and loved every second of it. pushed it to 340whp on 93 with just full bolt ons and a custom tune. unfortunately wasnt fast enough for me anymore so i snagged a 340i lol

A lot of what he said about the stock drivetrain is true when I got my Nismo It was hard to have smooth shifts, early on.

What timing.. I'm seriously considering a Nismo 370 as my next car.. I have a few tough options but this is high up there.

@@pattyboi My top couple options are a Used C5 Z06/C6 Corvette Grand Sport/Z06, New BRZ tS or new Mustang GT/used Mach 1 or any model with a Tremec 6 speed, rather than the factory MT-82 transmission. For the Corvette, I'm worried the gearing and overall speed would be _too_ much for a street only car. The BRZ tS is slower but lightweight and apparently a very good drivers car. The BRZ has a couple issues from the factory but I am local to IAG Performance (and owned my current 06 STi for the past 16.5 years) so I'm familiar with Subaru's, already and it's a good starting platform to mod over time. As for the Mustang, I'm worried about the MT-82 6 speed, which is now made in China and has many complaints from people even straight from the factory at stock power levels. A lot of people have complained it locks them out of gear during spirited driving and some have even failed. I'm also open to other suggestions but those are my top choices, at the moment.

FOr a 25 OilRow Cooler his oil temps are really high, might have to checked that out
This had a block-off plate during filming, with it off it typically sits around 180-190 on the street and after about 15 minutes on track it's usually around 240-250
Great video as usual, but man... He ditched my favorite part of the exterior of this car! I love the split dual exhaust with the 4" tips. Why would you put an ugly single exhaust with a fart can hanging off the back of it? Should have went with one of the amazing true-dual systems like Fast Intentions, Nismo, HKS etc etc. With the other mods, a true-dual would really benefit here. Ugh, man, that's hideous. You can see the indent where the other tip is supposed to be. It looks riced out now. Other than that, I love everything else though 👍

i know in the higher rpm's this car is super loud with an isr single exit and y pipe.
@@BandoLando it's actually not super loud, having the stock catalytic converters/header really helps quiet it down.
Engine was too unrefined for me. Tried to like it but sold mine. Love how they look though!

how did you fix the rattle/vibration noise in cabin with having an after market exhaust?
Not much rattling beside the driver's seat at low speed. Drones a little on the highway though.
@@pattyboi right now my issue is crazy vibration and rattle in the cargo area from 3k-4k rpm. I currently have a muffler delete
The only thing I hate about the Z series is the fact that they're virtually inaccessible to the average enthusiast without a hardon for one these days! Even the new cars are impossible to come by without spreading cheek!

25 row oil cooler! I have a block off plate to help it warm up a bit quicker when it's cold out but it keeps the car at a good temp even when pushing it

I struggle to enjoy my 370. It’s just too fast on tight mountain roads… 2nd gear goes over 100km/h. Not like these wide fast American roads
That's fair, the gearing is pretty long in the 370z's. You could always change the gearing but that's such a hassle.

Yet a C6 Z06 goes 100KMH in 1st gear.. if you want to use something on tight mountain roads, get a Miata.

There's plenty of slow cars that are more fun than fast cars, miatas included. I have a tuned Focus ST and the Miata arguably puts a bigger smile on my face
Everyone in the world agrees Miata's are slow because they are.. but that doesn't mean anything, especially on the street. For a track, they can still be quick because they're momentum cars. Fast around turns, once they get up to speed.
