I have to say this recipe and your awesome Demonstration of creating was OVER THE TOP!!!!!!! Thanks so much, it looks incredible and I know the flavor is outstanding.
+billybobdick100 Thanks for watching! I realized that my stand up chicken would not fit under the dome on the top rack so I had to adjust on the fly....LOL
Hello my brother...This is a first. That grill chicken had nice color and it was juicy as well. Now thats chicken done right, I bet that crown royal maple will a good ingredient for an apple pie. Please keep the videos coming.
doublejbbq Thanks, yea....that paint on the cans often concerned me, usually we would at least wrap the can in foil to act as a barrier between the surface of the can and the chicken.
I love cooking beer can chicken!...Thanks for showing the TWIST! Gonna have to try this..I also put onions, garlic, rosemary, thyme, and lemon inside the cavity....Take Care! Dave in WV
I could get along with an attitude like yours. Down to earth different methods good deal. Watched so many beer can chicken vids. Like what you have going on!👍🏻🤙🏻
I agree, I am not too partial to sweet drinks. I am sure that the Crown Royal Maple will add great flavor to recipes. Daryl, that bird looked G-BAD!! Nicely done my friend!
Daddy Cooks Thanks Phil, you know, I do like a couple of sweet liquors such as that Wild Turkey Honey or the Crown Royal Apple, but I usually drinks these if I am smoking a cigar.....gives a good balance of flavors between the cigar and the drink.
What a cool and different idea on the injection of CR. I was always taught to do Beer butt chicken by using a half of a beer but also adding back to that some other flavors (into the beer) like garlic, maybe some hot sauce (maybe in your case some CR (thought it might catch fire), and other spices. But that looks really good and kudos for the inventiveness of the recipe!
GqueBBQ I like the crown royal injection, but it needed to be mixed with something else, it needed a salt element in the injection to balance the flavors. I may try to mix the Crown Royal Maple with a few other ingredients to see if we can come up with a savory/sweet injection.
GqueBBQ That's a great idea Jason, didn't even cross my mind to add some stock to the injection, will have to try that on the next one...Thanks for the suggestion.
very slick operation vid with neutral back ground music, good commentary and easy watch video shots. The delicious poultry goes without saying. Always great to say what you would do different at the end rather than just commend your work. Great to see no negative Thumbs. You deserve it!! ps. I cant get Royal Maple in NZ. Is that a maple syrup? I just imagine a sweet taste to the chicken?
Crown Royal Maple is a Maple flavored whiskey. Not sure what you would use to substitute it. Maybe whatever flavored liquor that will give you a honey or syrup type flavor. Or you could take a cup of maple syrup and mix it with a half of cup of your favorite whiskey. that should thin it out enough to inject. Let me know how it turns out.
Oh yes. Have new cockpot from Xmas never opened it. I'll be making your pulled pork as its first dish. Best of luck in your success. 9ne small c9mment, the music was overpowering you during parts 9f the pork video when you were talking. Great selection just maybe a little more background when your talking. Other than that loving the channel.
+Jeffery Williams Thanks for the comments. Some of our earlier videos the background music was too loud. hopefully we have found a good balance now, thanks again!
+Bad Beast Barbecue +Bad Beast Barbecue Yes Sir! Great! Yesterday in The evening I prepared my Chicken like yours! It was Great ....Maple Is great....thank You for this good idea! So You served as a soldier in Rammstein? Nice to meet you:) best regards
Hey Daryl !!! Please say Hey to your Wonderful Wife and Family from Me , Mom , and ole Sarge !!! Go Man Go , you dun went and Not Only Hit a Home Run , you Knocked the Leather Clean Off the Ball !!! Wow I bet that Crown Royal Maple is AWESOME Injected and Glazed !!! Looks NEXT Level Yummy my Friend !!! Another Fantastic Video and a FANTASTIC Cook Daryl ... Dammit that's BBQ there ... Rock On Daryl ...
Fritz is Cookin Again Thanks Fritz, yea the glaze was excellent, I need to add something else to the injection the balance the flavors, but all in all it came out good.
Nice technique, Mr Beast! I agree on the CR Maple, it's maybe OK for a girly eggnog or the like , but don't really care to drink it otherwise. Since I have plenty of unused CRMaple, you've given me some liquor for thought! Also like the way you just used the bottom grate for the cook, I usually split the fire and place the throne on the top grid, as it usually fits under the lid, think I like your way better. I bet that maple booze might even be good on some pork!
+Randy T. Scarecrow No doubt Randy, I may have to inject some in a pork butt next time and see how it comes out. Using the bottom grate was a last minute idea, I didn't realize the beer can chicken wouldn't fit under the lid until I was ready to cook....LOL Necessity is the mother of ingenuity ...LOL Thanks for watching and the support.
What I'd like to know is is there a trick to getting the chicken off the stand, I always struggle, can't hold the can and stand down and lift the bird off myself - any ideas/suggestions anyone?
We did this beer can chicken the other day and it was awesome. We built a little fire in the can to cook from the inside out. Give it a try. Cheers AJ @t
Hey dude, I found out by my mother that if you want the salt flavor in the chicken, you are going have to BRINE it first. To Brine it ( in case someone on here doesn't know ) to soak it in a mixture of salt and sugar water, overnite.... That is the best way to do that.... Look on the Kosher salt box for directions..
Yea, we brine a lot of our poultry, just did not do it on this cook because were were injecting the Crown Royal and was not sure how the mixture of the Maple Crown and Salt brine would taste, we may revisit this cook and brine the next one.....thanks for watching and commenting!
The charcoal was beside the chicken on one of the Weber charcoal baskets. The only wood that was used was the chunks put on top of the coals to produce the smoke. Thanks for watching! Let me know if you have any more questions
Would you reccomend removing the label of the bottleneck brew? Perhaps with some isopropyl alcohol? The glue is easily evaporated under heat so I would think it would be on the safe side
Garrett, thanks for watching, I have never used a beer bottle for this type of cook, it has always been either a beer can or a vessel we could pour liquid into that was safe to cook with. I couldn't begin to advice on using a beer bottle, sorry, I did see one webpage where they used a beer bottle, but it looks like they left the labels on.....here is the link: magdascauldron.com/2012/06/chicken-on-a-beer-bottle.html I haven't personally done this yet, but it looks like they are only using the beer bottle as the stand....thanks for watching.
Nice cook brother..making bbq sauce -with these flavored alcohals is the bomb,Ive done it with 9.2 % thick beer.you did a great job and added some very thoughtfull tips.I want to buy a tee shirt bro..hook me up..
My question, how can the beer turn into steam when the inside of the chicken only gets to 165 deg (at the end). Water boils, and turns to steam at 212 deg? Every time I've tried to make beer can chicken, none of the beer has disappeared........
I would have to agree with you, When I made this last year I was a hard core believer that the beer would add moisture and steam the chicken, but in preparation of doing another beer can chicken cooking video and doing more research, I now believe that if you want beer can chicken, you would be better off brining the chicken in a beer solution or injecting the chicken with beer, if you want it to add moisture and flavor. I intend to do another video in the next month or so talking about the myths of beer can chicken and how to actually do beer brined chicken, should be a good conversation starter. Hope you check it out, thanks for watching and the comments.
There is an internet site that says making beer can chicken is actually dangerous, because the beer can prevents heat to reach the inside cavity, and it remains uncooked.
I saw that article, they make a lot of valid points, I will be covering all those facts in the video we do. Hopefully we can get it done and posted by the end of the month.....thanks again!
That makes sense then. I saw Illinois on your shirt, but also saw the saints hat and fleur-de-lis on your logo. I'm also former military (USMC), and as a Cajun I love me some cooking. I'll have to check out the rest of your videos. Have a good one man.
LOL, thanks for watching and commenting, I don't think my neighbors want to sell, they are always looking for BBQ when we fire up the smokers.....LOL Thanks again!
It was good, I think the liquor may have dried out the chicken breast some, next time I will mix the liquor with something else like butter to maintain some moisture. Thanks for watching.
You are a Bad Beast Brother. That was one fine looking Yard Bird Brother. I have done over 300 of those and I done got showed up. I will catch up, God willing.
I removed the top cooking rack and used a one of the weber kettle charcoal baskets on one side of the grill, I put foil on the charcoal rack, cover all the area except for where the charcoal basket sits. Placed the beer can chicken on the charcoal rack for cooking. Let me know if you have any more questions, thanks for watching.
It was on the outer. He accidentally injected the chicken at an angle that allowed the liquor run out. Those holes allowed some juice from the chicken to run out while cooking. Otherwise it would form a reservoir and act as a baster. Avoid anything larger than 14 gauge when injecting. This looks amazing, nonetheless.

I have to say this recipe and your awesome Demonstration of creating was OVER THE TOP!!!!!!! Thanks so much, it looks incredible and I know the flavor is outstanding.
Ronda Goodlet I think next time we will add some chicken stock to the injection to balance the flavor.
Good idea, I'm all for it!!!

Gosh that looks so good! Wow I'm salivating at this video lol awesome !
the color on that bird was awesome, bet it tasted awesome as well, never thought about the paint on the cans before, great cook
doublejbbq Thanks, yea....that paint on the cans often concerned me, usually we would at least wrap the can in foil to act as a barrier between the surface of the can and the chicken.
Nice! Doing this tomorrow, good idea to use the lower rack.
I love cooking beer can chicken!...Thanks for showing the TWIST! Gonna have to try this..I also put onions, garlic, rosemary, thyme, and lemon inside the cavity....Take Care! Dave in WV

+Bad Beast Barbecue Does your shirt say Belleville? If it does, then you are very close. I 'm from the Rosewood Heights/E. Alton area.
yep we are in Belleville, we ride our motorcycles up to Alton no and again to eat at Fast Eddies and ride along the river.
Nice job on that bird Big D! That had some great color! You like it with the maple crown injection or better without?
GqueBBQ I like the crown royal injection, but it needed to be mixed with something else, it needed a salt element in the injection to balance the flavors. I may try to mix the Crown Royal Maple with a few other ingredients to see if we can come up with a savory/sweet injection.
I bet some stock would give it just what your looking for! Very creative - Looked great!!
GqueBBQ That's a great idea Jason, didn't even cross my mind to add some stock to the injection, will have to try that on the next one...Thanks for the suggestion.

Thanks Ron, it has been a while since we did this video, may be time to do a new one with a different flavor profile. Thanks for watching.
Why not leave it in the roasting pan while cooking since you are using indirect?

That fowl looked good to me. I'd definitely would have put that in my belly.
Gimme that damn leg! Man that looks good. If the house next door is available, I'm about to move in!

Good old Canadian Whiskey!!!
damt...so was the taste ?
Beat it was very good!
It was good, I think the liquor may have dried out the chicken breast some, next time I will mix the liquor with something else like butter to maintain some moisture. Thanks for watching.
Listen at me beat it, I am not a good typist! Bet.
I knew what you were saying...LOL it's all good, I do that myself from time to time...

Lumpy Q Thanks, appreciate the compliment.
nice vid
How did you set up the Weber?
I removed the top cooking rack and used a one of the weber kettle charcoal baskets on one side of the grill, I put foil on the charcoal rack, cover all the area except for where the charcoal basket sits. Placed the beer can chicken on the charcoal rack for cooking. Let me know if you have any more questions, thanks for watching.
Just subbed
Pople BackyardFarm Thanks for checking us out!
Man can I get a shirt love your videos
Doing this today!
The breast part of the chicken looks really dry though.
I thought that too
It was on the outer.
Dynamite ! ! !
Was that chicken kill humanely?
Not sure what you are asking?
