I love these older videos to see where Malcom came from. He’s built a great channel, a great business, and a big subscriber number the old-fashioned way - outstanding content! Good for you Malcom!
Thanks for the great videos. Sorry people have to be such tools and bash and make stupid comments about painted beer cans. I'm embarrassed for them. Some of us played in the dirt, and drank out of the hose, hell we even survived driving in the back of a pick up trucks. Keep up the great work.... Big fan here
i got some of that thar yuppie micro brew beer in cans & the plastic labels just peel off cans......my self ,i was more concerned about plastic lining on inside of beer can melting....it's good though, kinda like moose turd pie....my friend who passed away recently, always called it" beer can up the ass chicken".
Malcolm, there is no one better than you. I love all your videos. They have taken me places where I would not have gone without them. Thank you for showing that smoking is not rocket science.
Malcom you are without a doubt my favorite youtube BBQ channel.. I wont que anything without watching you.. Thank you for teaching me how to smoke like the big boys!!!
Thanks man. As a complete beginner with no idea what I was doing, I followed your method and just cooked the best tasting chicken I've ever done. Tip top!
I'm a newb smoker and did a whole chicken a few weeks back and found the skin to be super rubbery. Thanks for clearing up why that was. I smoked it at to low of a temp. Your videos have helped me out a ton!!!!!
I wondering why the hell anybody would give this a thumbs down?I mean I have made this several times and it’s delicious. The guy takes time out of his day to show some of us rookies how to cook and he gets thumbs down.Just keep doing what your doing Malcom.Im enjoying your videos.
You've saved my life with your home cooking. Not to be light hearted. My family finally accepts me when I cook your food. Let's link up to save more lives!
Looks fantastic, I love the crispy skin! I usually spray my beer can with cooking oil to avoid the chicken getting stuck in the end. Try this next time and I'm sure you will be happy with then result.
Malcom, that chicken looked amazing, just went out ,got a chicken, found my injector, going to unsweetened apple juice and throw some rosemary into the beer can. Thanks for the info,I’ll let you know how it went🇨🇦👍🇺🇸
You are the best on the net man. I use all of your recipes all year long. Friends and extended family love it. I bring the smoked turkey to thanksgiving every year and it's a jaw dropper. Thanks for the good times.
I'm new to smoking on a pellet grill and I really appreciate your channel. So far everyone has enjoyed everything that's come off my smoker. Thanks for sharing your expertise with us!
great recipe.. did it with "bone suckin sauce" for the seasoning and it came out great.. did another one with "slap ya mama" cajun seasoning and it came out amazing too.. did them in a vertical smoker with a pan of beer and crab boil right over the coals and under the chicken... Amazing!!
Hello Malcomb; I do my BBC just as you do. I also add onions and garlic to the beer can liquid, I also close up the top at the neck with tooth picks to hold all the heat and the steam from the BB can. Instead of beer , I like to use apple juice. What ever you use for a liquid, this is a great way to cook chicken. Instead of turkey for thanksgiving, we are cooking 2 real nice size hens instead of a turkey. Happy Holidays Malcomb
Great video!. I am a little bummed that this video was so far down on the recommend, maybe because of the age, but this is far better that all of the videos I have watched.
Hey Malcom, just about a few weeks ago I tried a chicken like this and the next day just to compare, I did one with lemon pepper seasoning and some lemon zest and in place of the beer, a can of lemonade. It was surprisingly good, if you haven't done that before I would really recommend it.
Fantastic video. I tried this and it worked great. Use a tall boy, drink half and then fill the other half with BBQ sauce. Use it a as a dipping sauce. Better than good.
Malcolm, you're the goto guy for smoking around here. I"m not a huge chicken fan but this is an amazing bird. Cherry and Bud Light was definitely the way to go. Thanks man.
Thanks Malcolm. Did this tonight. If it weren't for my digital thermometer crapping out near the end of my cook all would have been perfect. Going to try your meatloaf later this week. Keep up the great videos, you're awesome.
Mr. Reed, I made your smoked brisket for xmas. Wow, it was so good, the whole family loved it. Now ive been watching all your videos. Beer chicken for Super Bowl Sunday. Yes I live in Denver. Thanks for what you do!
First time I've seen this done in a smoker. We've done quite a few on the Q but now we will do one in the smoker. Looks great and I am sure it will be. I will be back with the results we get on our vertical gas smoker.
I really love your videos you put up on UA-cam are my go to guy for cooking things on my pellet grill smoker Joel Pritchard From burlingtion Ontario Canada 🇨🇦
It's what's for dinner tonight! Thanks for all of your videos. Your channel has become our go to source for grilling and smoking. We've done everything from briskets to standing rib roasts to turkey on our kamado style ceramic cooker. Bottom line? If we are doing something new on the smoker then we search your channel for how to do it right!
Just bought my first smoker today - WSM. Checked out many of your vids and sir I like your style. Looking forward to my days off to try your rib and now chicken recipes. You keep it simple and explain the process well. Keep it up - we're watching.
Malcom, I swear I'm getting a pellet smoker thanks to your channel. The Yoder looks to be the boss. It may be a Traeger though, cause that's what they got in my town.
Love your recipes, thank you for sharing! I use them all the time. What is great is beer can turkey as well. Find small bird, follow your exact same recipe, except substitute the chicken broth injection with turkey broth. It's fantastic too!
your chicken looks awesome, only thing I do different is get the beer boiling before I put the chicken on, the whole beer will evaporate in the chicken
Malcom, great post. You can't match the beer can method for smoking whole chickens, however, I soon realized that the beer, really doesn't add anything to the chicken. I use a vertical roaster on top of a tin pie plate. Works great. I'd like to see a beer can turkey next!
Your AMAZING dude I truly enjoy watching your videos to see your passion for cooking reflect in your videos is awesome you got such a awesome spirit as well God Bless you brother!!!
Use a pie tin under your rack with injections juice and onion, it will help self baste, and ALWAYS put a quarter cut onion in the neck to keep steam from evaporating, BUT MOST OF ALL pre heat the rack with the beer, by the time the beer gets to steam level your bird is half way or more done, by the way your quarter looked undercooked
I prefer using the Sittin' Chicken ceramic chicken steamer instead of an actual can. Also, I use olive oil as that gives a better taste to the skin, in my opinion. Going to taste good either way!
I saw a sign that said, "Never trust a skinny chef!" Dude! You're awesome! I love your recipes! You are a real chef! Great job and great instructions. Thanks so much!

great recipe.. did it with "bone suckin sauce" for the seasoning and it came out great.. did another one with "slap ya mama" cajun seasoning and it came out amazing too.. did them in a vertical smoker with a pan of beer and crab boil right over the coals and under the chicken... Amazing!!
I made my chicken a different way but I still followed your cooking instructions and dam it came out juice. Thanks for what you.
The one glove thing.....BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!!!
Many thanks for this. I bought my first smoker and did this recipe today as my first on it. Unbelievably good.
I use warm beer and add 2 drops of liquid smoke in the can, you get a great smoky flavor! Love your videos
Broke in my new electric smoker this weekend with this. Came out awesome!
Hello Malcomb; I do my BBC just as you do. Malcolm, you're the goto guy for smoking around here. I"m not a huge chicken fan but this is an amazing bird. Cherry and Bud Light was definitely the way to go. Thanks man.

Just did this today and turned out great! Most tender chicken I've ever had 🐔🍻

I was considering adding the left over injection fluid to the beer can, good or bad idea ?
Awesome video Malcom. I can watch you, JB and T-Roy videos all day long. Keep it up.
Of course he puts seasoning in the beer! Thanks for your channel, you're an inspiration.
Malcolm, you have quickly made me a pretty darn good cook. Great video as usual. Thank you
I use a can opener and open the whole can of beer then i use a potato to plug the neck of the chicken & it makes the chicken stay moist.
I watched 9 Different videos of yours today.....Now I think I need to go on a diet before I start bbq'n some of your recipes. Great Job Brother.
Mr. Reed, I made your smoked brisket for xmas. Wow, it was so good, the whole family loved it. Now ive been watching all your videos. Beer chicken for Super Bowl Sunday. Yes I live in Denver. Thanks for what you do!

very good tech using that kind of spraybottle for our enviorment!
Really healthy for nature.
Awesome! I did this for the first time and I followed your step by step instructions and now my family thinks I am a grilling God! Thank You!
Love your recipes, thank you for sharing! I use them all the time. What is great is beer can turkey as well.
Find small bird, follow your exact same recipe, except substitute the chicken broth injection with turkey broth. It's fantastic too!
I've done this with beer and also soda it turns out good either way especially if you don't drink beer then soda is a awesome substitute for the beer.
You're my hero. I made your other basic smoked chicken last night and it was amazing
your chicken looks awesome, only thing I do different is get the beer boiling before I put the chicken on, the whole beer will evaporate in the chicken
doublejbbq good tip
I have never had one evaporate. But I use tall boys.
Plug the neck hole with a quarter potato or quarter onion, keeps the steam in, cooks more even, and doesn't evaporate away.
Love your channel bro you know what your doing
I like the way this dude explains stuff. Subscribing.
My go to for grilling videos. God bless.
Malcom, great post. You can't match the beer can method for smoking whole chickens, however, I soon realized that the beer, really doesn't add anything to the chicken. I use a vertical roaster on top of a tin pie plate. Works great. I'd like to see a beer can turkey next!
Rod Stevens good tip. That almost was a beer can turkey as big as it was.
Love your video's! Where did you get that injector? That's the 1st one I've seen like that. Keep those video's coming,... Thanks!
Hey Malcom, your recipe works great with Cornish Game Hen and Turkey too. Key to turkey is find a small bird about 8lbs.
To open the can up just use a can opener. Going to try this later today. Thanks
Try sticking a small potato in his neck, helps keep the moisture in.
I use two small cuts of celery ..it pairs really well with yard pimp ..aka chicken ..
10:25
HOW ARE YOU GRABBING THAT WITH ONLY NITRILE GLOVES ON!? I wish I could do this
He wears heat resistant gloves underneath. He had talked about them in other videos before. But it definitely looks that way. Lol
Olive oil and mustard rub makes a good crispy skin.
U can use a can opener to take the top off the beer can
I always enjoy your videos, Malcom. We're doing a beer can chicken today!!!
Great cook Malcom, everyone needs to do a beer can chicken at least once.
Nice tip on using the cooking spray during the cook, never saw that before.
White wine in a spray bottle also makes a good moisturizer during cooking
I put hot sauce in my beer. Instead of the spray I use soya sauce to stick my rub. Nice and salty
Thank you for your recap at the end. It is much appreciated.
Love your youtube channel Malcom, you are the man!
Your AMAZING dude I truly enjoy watching your videos to see your passion for cooking reflect in your videos is awesome you got such a awesome spirit as well God Bless you brother!!!
Stellar video, left me with no questions and hungry to try this out! Subscribed!
Use a pie tin under your rack with injections juice and onion, it will help self baste, and ALWAYS put a quarter cut onion in the neck to keep steam from evaporating, BUT MOST OF ALL pre heat the rack with the beer, by the time the beer gets to steam level your bird is half way or more done, by the way your quarter looked undercooked
you're a pro chef bro! simple explanation too
Never thought to inject chicken, but makes sense. Does the injection make a noticeable difference if already using the can?
Great video. I will try this tonight.
I prefer using the Sittin' Chicken ceramic chicken steamer instead of an actual can. Also, I use olive oil as that gives a better taste to the skin, in my opinion. Going to taste good either way!
Thanks for your expertise. Looks awesome and probably tastes even better! I appreciate your help.
Tried and approved!
I use Leinenkugel's Summer Shandy (it’s lemon/citrus beer) for my beer can chicken. It goes very well with chicken- just say’n
Just have not perfected this cook yet. Thanks for sharing.
Great video! Thanks for posting this. I learned a lot.
Another awesome video from you Malcolm, after seeing this video, I'm gonna fire my smoker today to make me my own beer can chicken...
I saw a sign that said, "Never trust a skinny chef!" Dude! You're awesome! I love your recipes! You are a real chef! Great job and great instructions. Thanks so much!
