For the first time in the cinematic history of Spider-Man, our friendly neighborhood hero's identity is revealed, bringing his Super Hero responsibilities into conflict with his normal life and putting those he cares about most at risk. When he enlists Doctor Strange’s help to restore his secret, the spell tears a hole in their world, releasing the most powerful villains who’ve ever fought a Spider-Man in any universe. Now, Peter will have to overcome his greatest challenge yet, which will not only forever alter his own future but the future of the Multiverse.
Willem Dafoe did not disappoint at all. It's great that Marvel and Sony allowed him to do all those stunts by himself at his own request
Man wanted to own the role he built. Set the bar real high.
He just has the facial expressions that make for a great bad/evil guy. Seen him in a few different movies and he brings the characters to life with his expressions and mannerisms.
I love his villainy... And his acting
That cackle, too. Pitch perfect match for 2002, like he actually DID get thrown forward in time.
Does he ever disappoint?
I will never get over Willem Dafoe's dual acting in this movie, he can literally switch between a kind Norman Osborn to evil Goblin while also still kept both identity as one unique character
Not familiar with the original movie then?
@@MikeyJMJ…?????
He still has personally disorder
@@victormarin69yearsago60 ?????
I wouldn't call Norman kind, he was just helpless and needed a place to stay in. If he was still the CEO of Oscorp he would have still remained as reckless and stubborn as he was in the early movies and I'm pretty sure if he ran for office he would also be corrupt, just like in the PS4 game!
0:01 I love Tobey's face here. The first villain he ever had to battle, the possessed father of his best friend, and a man he hasn't seen for close to 20 years, finally enters the fight from the clouds and it's like hearing a twisted ghost swooping in.
Lol yeah that’s what I was thinking of
Man was probably getting Vietnam flashback from those words alone

The Green Goblin is really spiderman's greatest foe.
Because he doesn't hit spiderman but he hits Peter Parker, it's always personal.
The Green Goblin took young Spiderman's heart and came within OG Spiderman's intervention of succeeding.
"Instruct him in the matters of loss and pain. Make him suffer. Make him wish he were dead.
And then, grant his wish.
The cunning warrior attacks neither body nor mind."
"Tell me how!"
"THE HEART, OSBORN! FIRST, WE ATTACK THE HEART!"
Like arrowverse reverse flash is Barry allen greatest foe while zoom is the flash greatest foe .
Ataca su corazón
He also broke the multiverse
I will never get over praising this movie for everything it did, but the one thing they absolutely nailed, was giving Andrew Garfield the respect he very much deserved. They did his character right in this movie in every way.
Nah this movie did an overdone trope and somehow skipped over a great villain for multiverse shlock

5:55 I love how as soon as Norman is cured, you can see how horrified he is about what he did. You can just hear the regret and sadness in his voice. Once again, William Dafoe absolutely nailed it.
This was something I just noticed and is a really special detail. Norman is surprised seeing Peter standing over him and the way he says Peter and his face say it all the he looks down and sees Tobey to his horror and it finally hits him in such a way that truly shows he has no idea or control of what happens when the goblin is in control. So scary and sad. Dafoe is a master actor!
Another cool detail is that in Spider-Man 1 Norman says “The Goblin did it I had nothing to do with it” but in NWH Norman says “What have I done”
You know I don't think Goblin is dead,
The snap to clarity was so evident. Like the schizo drugs suddenly kicking in...
You should check out , "The Boondock Saints" ; he's on a whole other level 😮
The pain in Andrew’s face when he saw Tom not being able to catch MJ and he instantly went into fight mode and saved her cause he couldn’t save Gwen… chills.
He Got It Right This Time. 💯
no joke, first time i saw this scene, i had tears in my eyes
Some would say he actually went into “flight mode”… lol
Gwen ded as hell 💀💀💀💀💀
Damn agree!
It's a testament to Willem Dafoe's acting that when he says "what have I done?" your heart genuinely goes out to him.
Despite them occupying the same body, I’ve never thought of Norman and Goblin as the same person. They’re literally two different people, with one taking over every now and then. I’ve always felt for Norman, unable to control what the monster does with his hands
Though, I like to think Tom got what he wanted in the end; by curing Norman, he effectively killed Goblin, just while also sparing the man beneath
Actually norman is say what have you done actually.
It was like Norman Osborne was a real person
How seamlessly Willem Dafoe slipped back into his signature role, giving a flawless Performance after more than 20 years is still impressive!!!
👍
Absolutely.
It also proves that Willem Dafoe doesn't need a mask to be terrifying when he wants to.
He somehow managed to outperform himself
It’s also showing that goblin learned from the first time he did in Spider-Man 2002 where he Spider-Man saved both the kids and Mary Jane from falling and Spider-Man didn’t have to choose
Andrew's face after saving MJ...you can tell that even though he learned from not being able to save Gwen, the past still hurts...
I think that he was also happy that he could spare Holland's Peter from the same pain he experienced when Gwen died. In a way it was a moment of redemption for him.

this scene yeah is a masterpiece. but the rest of the film no. its not even close to a masterpiece. sure it watchable to a point but the story was dry and the dialog wasn't on par with infinity war and that movie was a masterpiece. You see where im getting at this movie overrated.
@@TheCreativeStoryMan well we just have to agree to disagree 😌
Amazing!
The way Tom’s Peter acts here. He’s not fighting like Spider-Man, he’s fighting like an angry vengeful kid. No compassion, no mercy, just pure violence, anger and a desire to kill without hesitation. Everything that Spider-Man doesn’t stand for.
Tobey was like this too against Goblin in the end of SM1, also with black suit against Sandman.
If there is any underlying lesson when it comes to Spider-Man, is to beware the wrath of a patient man
Also, the FIRST MCU Spider-Man film that we saw THAT side of him compared to being dorky and happy-go-lucky in his previous movies and other Avengers-based films.

When someone takes a loved one and laughs about it you’d terrorize the earth forever
In the old comics, Peter almost killed Green Goblin(after he indirectly caused Gwen's death), but was able to stop himself at the very last moment. However, that Peter was a bit older. Tom's Peter is younger, and not as mature. So it makes some sense that he would act in a more brash way.

The way they built up this hopeful young Peter only to have him so beaten down by Norman and so distraught over May that he's ready to kill, genius. Everybody said he was too lighthearted in other movies but he was light hearted so that when he picks up that glider to kill it hits you right in the heart. Instant chills. And the way Norman looked at his Peter that he had just stabbed and said "what have I done" just absolutely heartbreaking. Norman never wanted any of that. Love it
I feel bad for Norman
I think Norman also said that because he knew what the Goblin was capable of. Seeing his peter laying on the floor stabbed, this universe's peter bloody and bruised and being in a completely different location, he realized he either caused something terrible, or commited something terrible himself.
Norman may not have wanted any of this, but he's the reason a lot of this happened. His arrogance and refusal to listen was the direct cause of the Goblin's existence; he knew well and good that using that serum on himself could lead to "violence, aggression, and insanity", yet he did it anyway. He even started going along with the Goblin's plans in the first movie. I'm not sure why this movie tried to paint him as some innocent bystander when he was very much the opposite. Norman gets no sympathy from me.
@@brandonp.6051I think being teleported to another world scared the shit outta him and he wanted out of the partnership with Gobby and wanted to go back home
@@brandonp.6051 In the comics he was not really a sympathetic character, he was an unethical douchebag even in his normal form. But I like how Defoe portrayed him here.
I love how Peter is just absolutely done. Done with the heroic stuff. He just wants the responsible to pay. He tried to save them all and this green bastard spit in his face hard. You can tell how Peter feels when you see him play dirty. He outright cheats and recklessly attacks the goblin. The way he slammed the bomb into the glider to force him into land and then using the webs to restrain him so he wouldn't fight back and the overall aggressiveness, combined with the ominous music is something I still remember having me thrilled in the theater.
He offered him friendship and he spat in his face.
He needs that ass whooping 😂
He wasn't trying to fight fair. He was trying to kill him, hence the bladed glider after he beat the snot out of him. If not for the performance enhancer to match Peter's full strength, Osborne would've been juicy fruit after that first punch.
Peter didn't cheat, he just stopped holding back
as he continues fighting, you can see him just stop holding back and let’s all his anger out with those punches. the way the music blurs and his concentrated look on his face jst shows how angry he really was
This fight scene really shows how Peter had to grow up instantly. When he was fighting the green goblin he was no longer a little boy. One of the best scenes ever!!
Iconic!!
He absolutely fucking destroyed the Green Goblin in a straight up slug fest. Goblin is going for killing blows every time and barely lands a scratch with his blade and a half hit out of the whole thing and Peter is absolutely devastating him landing heavy blow after heavy blow. What I love the most about this scene/s is how each of the three Peters have redemption (big or small) and how they all had importance (and definitely NOT as a “hi, we’re here, bye we’re gone” cameos).
Peter 3 was able to rewrite his traumatic history and rest easier, knowing he had a second chance to do so as well as prevent his younger brother to experience what he did. The second chance he wished he always could have and finally got.
Peter 2 finally got to save Norman, which I think is pretty clear that it was always on the back of his mind (especially when we see him talk about making a cure) that he felt responsible. His success in the end happened because of his second chance to redeem himself.
And then Peter 1 was able to finally be free from his rage and be reminded that “it’s what we do” to not go ahead and take a life. That we always have a choice to do right from wrong and have that responsibility. In the end, he was free from revenge and like Peter 2, he finally saved Norman and himself. All because he had a second chance.
Say what you will about NWH, but I think the central theme of second chances, redemption and responsibility is really where the film shines most and succeeded imo. Such damn beautiful and deserving ties to the three boys and their stories (for now at least).
I'd say the bigger redemption arc for Peter 2 was saving Peter 1 from wrath. He knew it didn't grant him any peace after killing uncle ben's alleged murderer. He saved him from a mistake he made.
3 Peters and only one MJ, having a good time!
@@theramo0 Oh yeah for sure, that's also a great way to look at it. Him preventing Norman's death this time was also definitely part of how it's a reflection of "his younger self/reflection" to not repeat the past. I can kind of view it as a out of context time travelling moment on the side where he's stopping himself from killing Ben's murderer in 2002 back in that warehouse. But even then, it's a beautiful and moving part for Peter 2 to remind his brother to not do this and choose to do the right thing.
For him it was a real special moment, just as much as the other Peter's had their own :))
@@puppylove3781 ayo 💀
@@theramo0 Peter 2 never actually killed the carjacker. He accidentally killed himself when he backed up and then tripped over a metal pipe, sending him falling out of a window to his own death. Peter didn't really make a mistake there. He simply realized that revenge isn't the answer, because he didn't feel any better after the carjacker was dead. Ben was still gone and it still hurt like hell. He knew Peter 1 would still feel the pain of May's loss, but also an additional feeling of guilt for killing Norman that would eat away at him. I'm sure that the memory of when he believed that he had killed Flint Marko when he was under the influence of the black suit factored into it.
Peter Two’s eyes when he’s holding Peter One back from killing the Goblin continue to haunt me. The compassion and understanding of Peter One’s mindset in this moment, because he’s been there: “I wanted him dead. I got what I wanted.” But there’s a sternness and sadness in there too, promising him that “This isn’t what you want and it isn’t what I want *for* you.”
It’s another instance of “I just wanted to be like you” and “I wanted you to be better.” The first time Tony made the choice for him. This time Peter’s choosing (literally) for himself.
And even after Peter Two initially stepped in, Peter One pushed back again with real force. For a second there, it seemed like he was willing to run through Peter Two in his rage to get past him! And Peter Two just held on with quiet strength and gave him the time he needed to breathe, process, and make his own choice.
Everybody praises Andrew Garfield’s acting in the “Peter Three catching MJ” moment to the moon and back (well deserved, of course) but there’s also something to be said for Tobey to convey so much without even saying a word.
You got that right! Peter 2 saved Peter 1 from himself!

WILLEM*
His entrance in the OG film was spot on. I was already a fully grown adult when it came out and it was exactly as I read the OG "Green Goblin" story (in hardback graphic novel form) over Christmas when I was 8, heartbreaking beginning (subtly implied that Peter's friend was the first Goblin victim in the storyline) to the end with the death of Gwen Stacey and the NYPD ordering a shoot to kill on sight policy on Spiderman, that was a dark story for a kid's comic book. Sure the fabric costume was upgraded to armour, but oh my word, that first Goblin cackle was absolutely perfect. BTW, in the follow ups the way the Goblin died in the comics is exactly the same as how he died in the movie, by his own hands attempting to murder Peter with his glider after being beaten with Peter jumping over it, before he got skewered and the follow through disembowelling Osborne.
The fact that goblins face has no signs of damage from his punches shows how durable he is
I think there was a slight dent
it's just bc of the age rating. they can't have this guy getting his face split open and fucked up and maintain a proper age rating
I bet his body was sore though. He took a few body shots in this fight as well.
@@drenchedinsyrupp6059yh it was definitely the age rating. If this was R rated his face would be completely unrecognisable but maybe not too much since he does have super serum
age rating had a factor to maintain the pg feel, but another explanation is green goblin is as strong as Peter according to the comics. Both of them can bench press nearly 10 tons at their current full strength.
I love how Tom Holland Peter is so focused on killing Goblin and letting out that anger, because the Goblin is truly on a personal level for him. He has always been Spider-man's most dangerous enemy. Whenever they fight, it's always fierce and brutal to the point of almost killing each other.

That moment at 5:52 is so underrated - if you think back to the final fight at the end of Spider-Man ‘02 when Peter confronts Norman about how he killed the board members, he instantly blames it on the Goblin - maybe out of desperation? Hell, it may have been the Goblin masquerading as Norman trying to weasel his way out for mercy, or something. Either way, I think it says something in 2002 as to how Norman wouldn’t own up to his own mistakes, and that hubris is what ultimately got him killed.
Here, instead of instantly blaming whatever happened on his darker half, Norman just goes “What have I done?” and he says it so remorsefully I couldn’t help but feel bad. He realizes he hasn’t been in control since the incident at Happy’s apartment, and seeing his Peter possibly on the verge of death makes him instantly take full responsibility. His expressions say it all: he knows that the Goblin has struck again, but he really doesn’t know how bad the damage was this time. Maybe I’m reading too deep into this, but I friggin’ loved Dafoe’s delivery here.
Great analysis. I noticed this too while watching this clip, and looking back on Spider-Man (2002). It might've been Goblin pretending to be Norman back then, but now here after Peter 1 cured him, Norman realizes what happened and blames himself now instead of Goblin.
>Maybe I’m reading too deep into this

To me, No Way Home serves as a perfect epilogue for the MCU overall. Endgame was the end of the road for the Avengers as we knew them, and for those of us looking for a satisfying ending we got it there.
But No Way Home does something special and give us a way to look back fondly at the characters that paved the way for superhero movies as we know them. There might have been no MCU without the Spider-man movies beforehand
It says a lot when the majority of the MCU audience that left after Endgame came back for this one movie, and that’s because it’s *SPIDER-MAN!*
especially when spiderman is the main reason why marvel is one of the most successful franchises in history and he is on par with batman and superman. i know he isn't the only person that made marvel successful, but he played a major part.
Wrong, Blade 98 was the main success for marvel to thrive in live action adaptions and none of the spidey films could have had success if Blade didn't succeed and saved Marvel's ass from going bankrupt, but then got taken over by Disney's and Sony's greedy ass...

I love the showdown between Spider-Man and Goblin. All of the anger just poured out of Peter, and you can tell that he's dedicating every punch and every attack he used against Norman to his aunt, wanting to kill the man who killed his aunt. Very satisfying.
Also, when Peter did the flip move on Goblin, when I was in the theater on the day after it came out, there were a bunch of people in the front seats, and I just heard "Oooh!" from all of them.
It was not that special, just a forward throw.

what i loved the most about this movie is how they gave each spider-man his own moment without having them overshadow tom's spider-man. they really struck a perfect balance there
That "What have I done..?" line was so perfectly placed by Willem Dafoe.
One look around and he knew... He knew the Goblin probably hurt, killed, and destroyed everything around him like always... The look on his face, she sheer shame, mixed with embarrassment, guilt and sorrow... Giving the line like a second before he's about to cry...
He knows in a few moments there is not even a right for him to apologize, despite not being himself, he knows the Goblin was his fault to begin with, and his acts were probably beyond forgiveness nor redemption because of that him..
All of that, just from a simple line.
That sold it for me~
I always liked Spider-Man 3. So seeing the themes of that movie being implemented in the final hour of NWH and seeing Tobey’s Peter, who learned about letting go of anger after the events of SM3, and convincing Tom’s Peter that revenge wasn’t the answer was a powerful moment for me. One of the best final battles.
Spider-man 3 is one of the reasons I have a moral sense of pride and anger management, always having a choice, not to mention forgiveness...that part I'm still working on
But these values I learned from that movie at 12 when it came out, if anything else about it came short....those messages shined through the most
@@ninjanibba4259
The Raimi Trilogy is timeless for a couple reasons. The very strong and straightforward message metaphors each movie leans uber heavily are definitely one of those reasons. It makes it universally relatable to any given individual.
Spider Man 3 may have been kinda bad

3:02 I won't lie... that line went hard. Tom Holland nailed it.
Even his voice changed when he said that line. He sounds like symbiote spidey.
He sounds like luffy from one piece lol
Let’s all take a second to appreciate that Tobeys spidey stopped a full strength kill shot from Tom’s and barely struggled to hold it in place. Goes to show that his age made him way more powerful and that he has fully embraced “with great power, comes great responsibility.”
He stopped a speeding train with his hands and feet.. that thing is practically cardboard to him.
Tobey's positioning gave him an advantage and he did get pushed down at first. If both of them have roughly the same strength like the rest of the movie shows since they're the same person and fought a lot of the same people, it's not really that big of a feat to hold Tom back with the same amount of strength he used while being in a better position.

But do people hate the "If you kill him, you will be just like him" thing done in superhero stuff which lets villain alive and free? Like Batman against Joker.
I love the sound effects from Peter’s punches in the final fight! You can tell he was bloodlusted & not pulling his punches on the Goblin!
Like how the at 4:00 the audio for the punches start to change they progressively start getting more raw and powerful symbolic for Peter becoming a Spider-Man that stopped pulling punches, if Toby didn’t step in the deed would have been done
So many moments in this fight give me chills.
When Norman says “Can the spider man come out to play?” And the traumatized and terrified look on Toby’s face.
The scene where Norman says “Poor Peter! Too weak to send me home…”
And Tom looks at him with the upmost anger and pain and goes “No, I just wanna kill you myself.”
The scene where Toby CATCHES the glider as Tom’s about to kill Norman and gives that look of “Don’t make the same mistake I did.” Before getting stabbed and making all of us think they were going to kill him off LIKE DUDE 😭😭😭
I think what I like most is Norman's look when Tom says that, it's like "Oh be still my heart, I think I found my favorite.."
Impressive, you've combined other people's comments for likes.
Not gonna lie: This movie just isn’t the same without hearing an audience cheering behind you. I remember being there on opening night, and everyone went NUTS when Andrew’s Spider-Man saved MJ, and again when Tobey’s Spider-Man got stabbed by Green Goblin.
It's still great
It's still great but when you watch it at home, you realize that it is oddly cut. You clearly see the times that went on just a bit to slow so the audience could cheer, settle down and follow the rest of the movie. That cinema experience was insane and I am so happy I was in a screening where the audience was totally invested and cheered for Daredevil as much as for the other Peters...
@@EtwasMartin i notice scenes that are a bit too fast. 10 or even 5 more seconds spent on Andrew saving MJ could have tripled the depth of so many of the movies arcs and themes, and that's not the only instance of such a thing.
I suppose that even if this one had amazing writing, better acting, and a little help from rami, it's still the same director who made the previous two atrocities which above all else felt flippant and shallow in the pacing.
Still a 10/10 movie, but I understand why many who aren't hard-core spidey fans are underwhelmed by it.

The response was delivered instantly, and both expressed absolute faith in the other to accomplish what they needed to do.
This fight always makes me remember how much more lighthearted this Peter was compared to the other 2 in the beginning. Makes you wonder what MCU Black Suit Spider-Man would be like.
That ending fight gets me every time...
In the condo, Peter was still a boy/teen: full of childlike hope and even the way he fights, you're made to feel like he's out of his league or depth. Yes, he's dealt with loss and evil before, but that evil is not completely directed at him - this is different. He's stunned by what it feels like when it is and when it's that powerful (when Goblin just laughs as he's being punched, Peter pauses for a moment in shock). Losing May is the turning point (as it always is). The child/teen is gone. He doesn't think he can kill Goblin. He will kill him. Having great or enough power isn't even a question anymore. Then he is stopped, with all that rage still built up. You can feel the lack of resolution for a moment while he struggles against Tobey.
But Tobey stopping him doesn't turn him back into the kid again. It shows him a way to live as a man without the need for vengeance, a way to be that powerful, to know he is that powerful, and to finally understand what it means: "with great power comes great responsibility."
Just brilliant ❤

@@Noneya409 true. i’ve never been a comic fan so idrk if i can even be considered a real fan but i know for a fact that spiderman is heavily underestimated for two reasons. because yes he holds back in 99.9% of the situations hes in. and two simply because he’s usually young because we havent really gotten to experience an aged peter parker story yet, besides nwh and even then we didn’t get much insight on toby and andrews lives post sm3 and tasm2. nwh really won over tom holland for me oddly enough because he is finally in the setting peter parker belongs in at the end of nwh.
Besides all the legendary moments in the movie, I feel this was such a fitting tribute to Spider-Man's greatest villain, the Green Goblin. There are very few villains in the whole of Marvel that are this physically and mentally draining. In the whole of this movie, the Goblin was the only one of pure threat and danger, and the one who almost sabotaged the whole plan. Incredible!

Tom Holland really knows how to act brutally mad. Loved him in The Devil All the Time, and in this scene. He really nailed it. Can't wait to see him with the symbiote.
This scene is so powerful for a number of different reasons, cause not only is Tobey trying to stop Tom from crossing the line where vengeance can destroy who you are as a person. But I also think saving Norman/Goblin was Tobey's way of making it up to his late best friend; Harry and was honouring him in a sense.
Back in his universe, Norman/Goblin died from being killed by his own glider after he attempted to kill Tobey and Harry blamed him for it which changed their friendship forever. Now not only does Tobey have the opportunity to stop it from happening again, but this time he is stopping an alternative version of himself who ACTUALLY wanted to kill him.
