So Amanda Bynes basically discovered both Drake Bell and Channing Tatum. She insisted on working with both of them because she could see their talent. Talk about having an artist’s eye. Under the age of eighteen and she was able to sniff out talent like a bloodhound.

I work in Academia so basically everyone has a disorder or a neuroatypicality (is that a word? It is now) and I've worked with a lot of women who had Borderline Personalty Disorder because of intense childhood abuse or pressure or stress. I remember Amanda Bynes headlines but iirc I did whatever I could to ignore them (I'm on the side of Chris Crockers).
But looking now as someone with more experience and still also knowing can't none of us actually know...- BPD is probably just the tip of the iceberg. And a *shitload* of adults should be held viciously responsible.
She was under absurd stress to do something she actually liked and was good at, put on an insane time table, and had entirely too many weird adults telling her inappropriate shit as well as... probably not great parent relationship, oh yah and her boss was feeding her pills like it's 1939 and the fucking set of The Wizard of Oz.
The racist shit and the being horrible to other women based on perceived attractiveness is definitely "Yep these are your worst attributes coming up in troublesome times. I wonder... perhaps working on a set that explicitly and implicitly favored white kids over any others
Then time moves on as you grow up and suddenly being super skinny and cute in the generic Disney/Nick casting preference doesn't exactly make you Queen of the Hotties when you graduate into the real world and the guys you want to...murder your pussy so to speak, are into thicker gals or someone outside the... generic predominately white kiddie show aesthetic.
It's not excusable but I can at least see the sources pretty easily.

In my personal opinion, as someone who is a long time sufferer of body dysmorphic disorder, I think she absolutely struggles with that. Saying her face needs to be beautiful, not wanting pictures unless they are perfect, preoccupied with her looks in a way that it hinders her livelihood: All huge symptoms. In poor Amanda’s case her child self is everywhere online and sometimes tv. Sometimes you want to change your appearance in adulthood (see Lil’ Kim and her history,) because you are literally triggered by your own face. My heart goes out to everyone with this, it makes life tough and is almost always (as far as I know,) a response to prolonged trauma 🙏🏻❤️

I went to rehab with Amanda in 2018/19. She was super sweet and very considerate. We never pushed for info but from what I heard in groups it broke my heart . We actually went to 6 flags before I left and the group of friends who she was apart of really tried to just make her feel as "normal " as we could and were pretty protective. I didn't recognize her at first and when I realized I was honestly taken aback but hey we were all in rehab and didn't really care. I really hope she is doing okay and that she has her peace.

I was holding my breath that you weren't gonna expose something she said at the groups. Knowing how personal and sacred groups can be, I am extremely grateful you're protecting her in that way! Anyone who has spoken in a group deserves to have whatever they shared stay only with those who heard it first hand.
It's not surprising to hear her group of friends there became protective of her. That's a common thing to happen without the complications of "fame" being involved.
Anyway... I just wanted to say thank you for continuing to protect her by keeping her rehab/group stuff private.

When I finally broke and came forward, I knew I was burning every bridge and destroying my career to continue living and ensuring he never did it to anyone again.
But I remember, as I was gradually breaking down in front of my peers, superiors and Soldiers (they ALL noticed; their investigation interviews made it very clear that they thought I was “unhinged,” or “emotional”), that they didn’t think ONCE to step in and see if something was going on.

The only reason military leadership is putting on a front of caring is because they have faced significant attrition and retention issues, and even then, they don’t care that these issues presents a legitimate, terrifying national security threat; they care that they won’t get their first or next star because they look bad.
We need an overhaul, not just for the sake of our Service Members, but for the sake of our country. Pours her heart out stating she feels ugly (I'm realizing now, her selfconciousness means so much more as you and Amanda, have societal pressures [makeup is beyond pressure for girls and women, handcuffed feels more accurate] to always have pretty chemicals smeared on your faces), made heart wrenching by the fragilty of her voice.
She does all this before, in the cutest voice that was basically unhearable but easily pieced together with the visuals of her coming very close to the POS (quote. Photographer unquote), and him screaming for the protection of his camera.
Till finally (isn't there some law down there in the states there is either a "stand your ground" clause or if asked on the third time to stop something, and the offending party continues, one is allowed to defend themselves offensively), she uses what every woman should have as bare minimum protection till y'all can feel safe walking: sharp nails: does that POS temporarily leave her be.

Remember that everyone is different. I'm ADHD, as is my daughter, and for us stimulant medications absolutely suppress our appetites. I'm an adult and have been on these meds before so I'm able to make myself eat at "normal" times (having a toddler helps remind me when to eat), but my daughter is a child and wouldn't eat. She got dangerously slender and had to go on an appetite stimulant medication so she would eat, and is doing better now.
So sure, for some ADHD people medication doesn't suppress the appetite. Some ADHD meds don't even have appetite suppression as a side effect! But for other ADHD people, meds do indeed suppress the appetite. Everyone is different. Don't generalize.

There are so many videos that speak about Amanda Byrnes almost as if she’s deceased, and that breaks my heart. I idolized this woman when I was a kid, absolutely enamoured by her comedic timing and showmanship on The Amanda Show, and all of her following films. So many of us millennials found comfort and joy in these incredibly talented Nickelodeon shows and their young stars.
I can not imagine the horrors and abuse Amanda was subjected to while providing me with some of the best memories of my youth. I don’t judge her for all of the subsequent mental health struggles; addiction challenges; and outrageous behaviour that occurred in her adulthood.
Look what that disgusting industry did to this LITERALLY gifted star. I hope Dan Schneider and anyone else responsible is ready for their karma- she may work slowly, but she’s inescapable.

She especially perferred to adopt one-eyed black cats regardless of what medical issues they had. Also, while I don't support the DUIs, as far as scratching up that paparazzo? Good. Good for her. He deserved that. The lookism and racism, though, is yikes. That said, the mental illness involved is transparently clear, and definitely worsened by the childhood trauma that is being a child star.

The CSA in conjunction with everything else makes complete sense about her behavior. As a CSA survivor, I know the feeling of feeling ugly. Not just ugly on the outside but inside. I hated myself. I'm 40 and still carry it deep in my core. Also trauma can cause psychosis. My son had this experience and he was having delusions that would have made anyone think he was schizophrenic. She seems like she is in so much pain. In her recent videos on social media, she sounds either high or completely dissociated. Dissociation is another fun outcome of CSA. No congratulations or anything even though one of the first things people know about me is my love for cats and these friends knew I had waited many years after my childhood cat passed away to finally be in a living situation where I could get my own cat again. Jokes on them though. I still take at least a few photos of my black kitty every day. He's too cute not to, plus his bleps are even more adorable since they stand out against his dark fur. :)

The "microchip" narrative is very common for people having a psychotic episode, and so is believing your parents abused you in some way when they didn't. It's very, very common. Yeah my ex best friend had a psychotic break and asked me to unplug/cover up all the devices in the home, including printers and smoke detectors. She claims that her dad, her ex-boss, and a few other men had SAd/SHd her. She ended up marrying her ex boss a few months later and told me she had "misinterpreted things". She's had several periods of lucidity and psychosis since then, and basically takes back all the accusations she makes under psychosis every time she's in her right mind. It's really traumatic for everyone involved

As an adult diagnosed with ADHD later i life (I was 36), I can say that it all depends on the doctor. My diagnosis took some time - first, after my initial diagnosis, I was referred to an adult ADHD specialst and then I underwent several test. My parents were also intrerviewed about my childhood. So no - normally it takes some effeort to become diagnosed and receive a prescripion. But you can always find a medical practitioner who is not that honest.

I was also diagnosed later in life with it, at 27. I was struggling to keep up at work and at home. I was a very unhinged opioid addict that was recently sober and seeing an addiction specialist. I had brought up my problems with her a couple times and she also being A licensed mental health provider thought it would be beneficial for me to try Adderall to see if it helped me as she believed I had late onset adhd. I remember thinking after my original assessment wow that was easier than I thought. 😅 I’ve also been diagnosed with borderline personality disorder for 8 years at the time and always attributed my problems with impulse control to be related to that, but if I have adhd too, I see why my impulse control problem were so severe.

That's actually interesting. There is another little known child actor who experienced what Amanda is describing at 27:44. What made it worse for him was that the other teen actor who played his sister, didn't experience the normal type of puberty that one would think of when you think of a child doing it.
He was short, had an acne breakout, and his voice repeatedly cracked. His acne was also the focus of many jokes on the show. But his on screen sister, blossomed. She became taller, had no acne breakouts, and became the penacle of beauty even on the show.
That child actor actually did an interview and spoke about how much it sucked having to go through puberty beneath the watchful eye of millions while his on screen sister was seen as a bombshell.
To be fair with her, in the very beginning, her character was a little dumb but as the years went by, the writers leaned heavily into that "dumb blonde joke" to the point where it was ridiculous. Like the saying looking up at the sky when it was raining and drowning levels of dumb.
That male child actor was David Faustino, his on screen sister was Christina Applegate and the show was Married... With Children.
Other child actors have spoken about going through puberty in front of an audience and I imagine it sucks. It sucks going through it without an audience.
