Hey guys! You may have noticed the BMW still has the old front end in this video. That's because this was filmed before the facelift project. I decided to release this video after the facelift project, so this video can segue into the rear differential upgrade. Hope that makes sense. Also, if you want up-to-date info on the project, check out the build thread on E46 Fanatics ---> www.e46fanatics.com/threads/build-thread-the-basket-case-bmw-project.1284565/
You may have already got some lightweight wheels, but if you don’t that could help your times as well as your differential. Also the traction control programming is there to minimize one tire fire and save the diff and the only real way to get around leaving it off is to have more tire width on all driven tires. No wheel spin = better time
You should consider getting an N52 engine. It will swap right in and makes a lot more HP compared to the older M54. Could be bit more fragile though is you intend to supercharge later on. The SI variant of the 3l makes about 264bhp here in the UK. Peach of an engine. Luv and Peace.
I don't recall if you have played with the tune (fueling, etc... the Shark tunes aren't cheap, but I would be curious to see if you could measure an improvement on the strip...). Rear diff helping the channel with extra content, haha. Sorry!
@@michaelblacktree Big chicken farm went in up the road from my rural western NC childhood home (a whole half mile from where I live now, haha)... didn't always smell the best, but luckily the prevailing winds were usually favorable, haha. The buildings are still there, but luckily the chickens are not!
I'm from the UK so not sure exactly what E85 is but i'm guessing it's some higher octane fuel less prone to pre-ignition. I think if the tune you had previously had retarded timing before any engine pinking then there probably won't be much extra power if any. That said you can now probably get a lot more aggressive in your tune with cam timing now the fuel is less prone to pre-ignition. Luv and Peace.
Here's the video where I talk about the E85 conversion. I explain E85 and why I'm doing the conversion, in the first 90 seconds or so. ua-cam.com/video/wK9-l3clqCM/v-deo.html

Good points. I don't have lightweight wheels yet, but it's on the list. Also, the next video will cover the LSD install. 😎
Yay, new video!

I made some minor adjustments to the tune, but basically just driveability stuff. Also, this was the perfect excuse to get a LSD. 😎
@@michaelblacktree Hell yeah!
That's disappointing. I thought I was gonna see a race between an E46 and a 1st gen Z4. Two of my favourite cars.
🙂
cool
Corn fed e46, just like that chicken, haha.
My one neighbor decided to become a chicken farmer. Not much I can do about it.
