Hi! The 316i E36 has the same 1.9l (1895cc) engine as the 318i. but it's down tuned down from 125hp to 105hp. At least my 316i from 2000. Seems some also had a 1.6l 102hp.
Downshifting can work if you're careful, but can be sketchy sometimes, and it's not something I'd reccomend to someone beginning to drift. Also, the effect that occurs when you downshift, and the tires slip when you change into the lower gear, is called rev mismatching. If you match the revs when you change gear like you normally would when driving, the car won't slide, because the engine revs will match those of the drivetrain and of the wheels. Rev mismatching upsets the car, and basically acts like a handrake, although it feels different because of the downshifting.
@@kuhlius_2k735 used to have an m20b20 coupe with a welded 4.14 diff. That thing ripped on dirt roads and on wet asphalt. It had enough power for 3rd gear on downhill to drift and 2nd on flat dry asphalt. It was so much fun. Bought car when i was 13 and spent many late nights with my father fixing it and driving.
Wouldn't recommend the downshift technique too much as there is a high possibility of over revving the engine if not careful. Clutch kick with flick the best ✌🏻
@OppoA-ek4ut Yep, my friend uses this technique a lot on his Benz during winter time because the car only has park and no handbrake. but I'd think twice about forcing in first gear for your syncros.
Low HP sliding has it's magic cause once you get it right it's truly rewarding. Clutch kicking can seem like a brutal misstreating your car but feels hella good also proper weight transfer is important it doesn't come for free like in a turboed monster you have to keep the car up to speed and huge steering angle will slow you down too much and I like this balanced drifting where every mistake is punished

A bonus one that I'd say is much part of the second tip is to trail brake. Shifting all of your car's weight to the front (by braking prior to the turn) until it's back swings outwards.
I'm 17, and my first drift was in a Mercedes A170. It was automatic, so I approached a corner really fast in second gear and performed a Scandinavian flick. You can lose traction in 2 ways: by having the rear tires spin slower than the front tires (the actual speed of the car) by handbraking or by having the rear tires spin faster than the front, by clutch kicking or downshifting. Not the other way around. When you clutch kick or downshift, the rear tire will try to match up with the speed of the engine or the gearing in the case of the downshift, making the rear tires spin faster than you're actually going, thus breaking the traction
When you downshift without pressing gas during a shift [like he did] the RPM's attempt to match the rotational velocity of the tires by going up. While the RPM's go up, the tire velocity goes down, and they meet somewhere in the middle. That is why if you try to put it in a lower gear without rev matching and your tires don't manage to spin, your car will start to break -> because tire velocity went down.

Until the snow fell, the it worked perfectly. It makes me think that if I just had big enough balls, I could pull it off. I am kinda terrified of rolling or more likely smashing a curb as a already did
I have an E36 but I if I wanted to drift I would go back to Chevy Camaro with solid rear axle, drifts with power!! :)
how can you find out what type of differential you have ? I have a 2011 E82 118d and have no idea what could be the type of my diff
I drive a bmw f11 x-drive, and it's not so easy to drift 😅 Much easier on my previeus e46 with 210 hk and rare wheel drive. Love your videos, stå på
to drift x-drive on dry asphalt you'd probably need a modded m550d instead of 520d :P
@@Darctan1 Hehe, yeah. But to have the same model in 550D i need a bigger wallet first xD
Drifting a X-Drive I would stick to the snow 😅 don’t break the car in the dry. What engine was in the e46? Diesel?
@@FahreFilms Yes, but i struggle there too xD Yup just a 2L Diesel, but it was a bloody tuned one, it was imported from turkey. Was a big black cloud everytime i acced, but very fun to drive :) I also had e60 2004 mod 2.2 stright six, and e60 2007 diesel, so the e60 is forever in my heart. The dream would be M5 comp, but my lottery thicket hasn't checked in yet 😅
X-delete problem solved
Tip 4, w8 for rain, save tires.
my brain every time I'm out with the car : 7:31 - 7:36
Where did you buy that wing?? I need for my ti
I have the same car except it's not modified at all. Just in really good condition and it is so m uch fun to drive even without drifting it.
I only drifted when it snowed very hard over here and therefore less traction was on the road lol
Great and fun video!
What’s YOUR favorite trick to drift? Smash the like button 🤟🏼
In forza i always clutch, downshift, handbrake, rev, release the clutch and floor it harder
Clutch kick for me
Great video! If you didnt know compact rear seats weight more than 20kg also spare tire with bracket is around 13kg
A certain white substance that rains from the sky
You could use scandi flick with foot break
de ække under meenstad brua eller??
really helps clearly explained i wait more videos like this also make video how to drift with FWD cars
Lmao you can’t drift a fwd, sure you can swing the rear but you’ll never be able to maintain speed control and angle
@cyndrr I know but anyways I don't have RWD car now so sometimes i like making fun with FWD
thanks, this video confirmed my decision to want to buy a miata
I drave a e34 525i 1995 ... waht i need more to make my car Without reducing the weight of the car to go hard ?
07 c230 with the v6. Very difficult to get sideways even when raining
I got an e46 compact 1.8 turbo 86kw chipped to 116 and i usualy drift on open roads when its wet but something fucked up cause the engine wont rev out enought to drift it starts to like jump i got to check it with a mechanic 🤣😂🤣 btw trick 4 make urself an e brake by simply putting a hole in ur parking brake as the button is in than put something into it so it holds and u have a makeshift ebrake 😂😂😂❤ loved the vid
The last tip is horrible and very dangerous for most people who don't have experience. Start slow, maybe with a clutch kick donut in first gear, then increase speed gradually.
i’ve got a 525i with a m20 in it i want to build up to handle boost later down the road , i know it’s kind of a boat to be a drift car and the m20 doesn’t have tons of power. does it sound like a plausible idea? hard to find a boosted m20 e34 so i like the uniqueness it would bring .
With turbo definitely no Problem but even stock if its a manual and you know how to clutch kick ist def possible to drift
I’ve got an auto Volvo 240, but I can limit it to two gears might that work?
Make it low ant stif. Get some god gruping tyres up front and bald low sidewall tyres on the back. Make sure that you cluch is not slipping, and you can drift any rwd
Cant wait to try it in my ford fiesta 😃
A 1988 C124 300CE but im not old enough to drive legally but I’ll be 16 really soon so I got time to work on my car 👌
lol good tip - enter the corner at high speed then turn hard left... :D
some cars dont even let you put it in first gear while having speed like some cars i have dont go into first if it has high speed
can i do the same in e46 sedan with 105 hp? its weight is 1400 kg i think
how to get such an exhaust sound?
I can go slow into a turn steer into the turn slam on the gas and feather after to maintain the drift
This guy is king 😉 poy from Bosnia 🇧🇦
Thanks man 🤟🏼
