  • Today, we revisit one of our older videos which includes our refrigerator door swinging violently when we open it. We try a bungee cord gadget to see if we could slow down the fridge door from opening too quickly and hitting the wall behind. We will replace the old bungee cord attachment we used in the original video since it became frail from the last year and a half of the refrigerator door opening and closing constantly. We show you step by step how to install this bungee cord attachment in case you have a refrigerator door that opens too quickly and slams into the wall behind. Hopefully this temporary method helps someone, this is not a perfect fix, but its a very effective fix. Many expensive refrigerators on the market today have a door that swings a little to fast when opening, and will hit the wall behind it. After we called the manufacturer about this problem they told us to adjust mop loopthe wheels and doors, which we had already done. They said since the swinging door doesn't fall into theno catagory of defective, theres really nothing they could do about it, which is why I am showing my method to fix your swinging door issue. Now grant it, this is not a professional fix, but sometimes you have to think outside the box in order to get things done when all else fails.

Have this SAME problem on brand new 18.5 cu ft Amana with bottom freezer drawer. Top fridge door swings open to right and smacks wall! What are the clamps called that you glued on and where can I get them? Also, what glue or adhesive did you use?

Here is a link to the magnetic caribeaners. Just take the carabeaners off, then you will have exactly what I used. We put 5 or 6 drops of regular Krazy glue on the back of the magnetic caribeaners swivel.

Also, please use a thinner bungee cord, because the thicker bungee cords just might pull the magnetic caribeaners swivel attachment right off the door down the line. After about a year of the thinner bungee cord being attached, just check it from time to time to see if the bungee cord fraid at all over the year. Replace if necessary. It's a shame we have to make gadgets like this, but it's one of the only ways to stop the fridge door from swinging violently and hitting the wall behind.
Let me know how it works out for you
