    Thank you for this video! Used it just now to change my fridge door. The previous owners lived with it opening against a wall for three years. I made it four days (and swore to myself every time I opened it) - only because I was waiting on my drill to arrive. 🤣

    Count me in the “glad I found this video” camp. Only needed the first 2 minutes, since the part stumping me was the fact that the pins themselves screw off. Cleverly made!

    My old GE refrigerator (vintage 1982) was showing signs of impending death, so I had to do this yesterday. The instructions in the manual seemed fairly clear, (which you have to download, by the way, no paper manual) but I didn't need them anyway. All I had to do was follow along with this video. There's nothing like watching a demonstration as opposed to reading a description in words and diagrams. Probably cut the time required by half at least. Thanks very much.

      I have thought about creating a maintenance course online. Basically covering each category. HVAC, plumbing, appliance repair, electrical, carpentry, swimming pool, preventive maintenance, make ready's, daily routine & how to keep learning & getting better at your craft. But I have to sit down & think everything out & how I would want to set it up then look into creating the course. So it's definitely something in the future for sure. Now that things at work are starting to slow down a bit I can focus on the channel & editing the videos I have recorded so I can upload them to youtube & be more consistent with uploading like I was before summer started.

    Can you show more on the freezer stop? I can't get mine right, it catches when closing not opening and flipping it makes the door ride high.
    Edit: I'm a dumb head, I flipped it overwhen reinstalling, but you skipped filming that step and so did everyone else 😢 this was the best resource tho 😊

    • @ApartmentMaintenance
      @ApartmentMaintenance  9 місяців тому

      Ok, glad you got it figured out. If I remember correctly, I explain what I'm going to do if it's something I do off camera. For example, moving the door hinge to the opposite side of the bottom of the door. I didn't want the video to be real long so I would show what I was going to do & then do it off camera & when I started filming again I would just point out what I did off camera. I hope that explains things alittle better. Appreciate you saying this video was the best resource for doing the job. Thanks for watching BRIa86 & help support the channel by subscribing 🛠️👍

    They recommend not using power tools in order not to strip how the screws or overtightened. But I suppose it doesn't matter

    • @ApartmentMaintenance
      @ApartmentMaintenance  7 місяців тому

      I have always used them. You just have to know how to properly use them & not over tighten the screws & bolts. They are referring to the average person who doesn't use power tools daily. Thanks for watching Fiji16g8 & help support the channel by subscribing 🛠️👍

    Lowes installer said reversing the door swing/swap is not good idea, the Mouldings around the doors will not properly seal. Is that true?

    • @ApartmentMaintenance
      @ApartmentMaintenance  Місяць тому

      @@billligon4005 You could have an issue with the seal in some spots after reversing the door. I've had that happen a few years back, but with the newer refrigerators I haven't had any issues. If you need your fridge to open on the opposite side, you gotta do what you gotta do. In my opinion, if they weren't supposed to be reversed, they wouldn't make them with the possibility of opening on either side. They put the same holes on both sides, the hinges are reversible, so I don't see an issue with it. A little tech tip, If you reverse a door & you have a gap in your door seal, take a hair dryer across the seal to warm it up, use an object like a pen to go across the edge of the seal so it forms to the frame & then let it cool off in that position & don't open the door for a little while & it will mold to the new shape. I reverse the door but had accidentally used the wrong screw where it locks in, for the freezer door. By doing that, it messed up the spongy part where it tightens the pin screw. The handle is now loose. How do I fix that or where would I get the little sponge to replace it so that the handle wouldn’t be loose.

    • @ApartmentMaintenance
      @ApartmentMaintenance  Рік тому

      That is part of the insulation of the door itself. The best thing you could do in this situation is take the handle off & use some 2 part epoxy or glue or something along those lines to permanently mount the screw in the hole. Once it's dry & in place for a few hours, then re-mount the handle. But definitely leave the handle off while the screw is drying in place. It might be best to remove the freezer door & lay it down so the screw is facing up & won't fall out as it's drying. Hope that helps.
