I use water-mixable oil and I didn't think I could use this with it. Thank you for clearing that up for me!
Yup you can - just know that anytime you mix WM with non-WM. You have to clean it up with thinner.
Thank you for all your help
You are very welcome
Great advice didn't know you could use it with watet soluble oils.
Glad it was helpful!
If you need to see how to make an at home version I have 2 videos on it:

Thank you!!!! ? Can you use liquid black over white gesso and maintain the darkness or should it go over black? Just wondering if the difference would affect how transparent colors show up with a white vs black canvas covered in liquid black?? Thank you in advance and thanks for all your helpful videos 😀
You can put LB over white gesso if you want.
I have a video where I explain how each liquid base effects colors. I think it a longer video but it will give you a visual of how they work.... This way you will have a better understanding going forward.

How about just thinning out some oil-based white with thinner? Would that be the same thing?
That can work in a pinch BUT thats more of a white wash that will dry quicker. Adding oil to the paint is better. I have a video on how to make your own - Give it a watch here: ua-cam.com/video/c6ISb-xRCVs/v-deo.html
I don’t know what liquid white is but I do know what liquid hwite is.
I think its spelled Hwite 😂😜😜😂
Question please 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽Liquid white/clear vs gamblin solvent gel to thin paint
What's the difference?
Is it the same thing ?
Can you help me understand if they are the same thing.. what are differences and how or when one would use each... I've seen the videos on each product but would like to know if they do the same function?
Really tough to answer because a lot of it boils down to the chemical makeup of the products ( which is a little out of my chemist education range ha ha ha ). They are basically the same ( minus the solvent )
Best answer I can give is directly from Gamblin's Site:
In comparison to other solvent-free mediums, Gamblin Solvent-Free Gel supports the broadest range of painting techniques with the least compromise across color, dry time, texture and mark-making. To ensure proper drying of paint layers, Solvent-Free Gel should be used in moderation with oil colors. No more than 25% by volume. To avoid wrinkling, apply mixtures of Solvent-Free Gel and oil colors thinly.
Hope that helps some.
thanks!! i thought it's a kind of canvas lol
Glad I could help you out.
If you need more help... I have a lot of awesome art videos 😝
Is it okay to skip gesso and Only use LW made at home using Chinese white and linseed oil?
And do you have any videos where to used oil paints for painting without using wet on wet technique?
Not sure what you mean by Chinese White.
I have a few different videos on this channel that might help you. Just look under the video section
Where can i buy liquid white?
Buying links are in the comments 🔥
I can't use acrylic?
not sure what you are asking.
Can you use liquid white over a toned cool grey canvas?
If not, I’m assuming you can created liquid grey, red, blue ect…via making your own bit with different pigments?
You can do both or either... which ever works best for your style. If you are toning with a thinner base... note that you should let that dry first before putting a wet liquid base on top.
Hope that helps.
@@WildCreates it does help brother, thanks.
I toned my gesso cool grey a week ago, so good to go.
Cheers
You will be perfectly fine then.
Happy painting
👍
Thanks for watching
okay but you still didn't explain _what_ it is. You just gave a rundown of its applications. This feels more like an advert than an explanation of what Liquid White is. What is it? What's in it? What's Liquid Clear? How is it different from Liquid White or Liquid Black?
I feel like you could have explained these things.
First sentence: Liquid Base medium that allows you to blend colors.
If you are looking for the formulas, ratios and "what it is made of" that info can be found in my past videos on this channel.
If you follow this channel, I posted on the community tab I was only releasing a short video this week. I try my best to keep people updated on the channel there.
If you are looking for more in-depth info on liquid base mediums. The video bellow should help you out:

Hey wondering if I get your expert opinion on Winsor and Newton Soft mixing white - can you use it as a substitute for magic white ?
To be honest I can't remember If I have used that version ( I have tested so many paints and versions, sometimes they blend together).
If you are interested in making your own LW check out this video here: ua-cam.com/video/c6ISb-xRCVs/v-deo.html
You could sub the soft white to make a creamier version of LW... test it out and give it a shot.
Hey wondering if I could get some help
Ive found that when ive finished by painting, while its drying, it loses alot of itr brightness. What is doing this and how do i prevent this.
This is a natural process of paint drying. You can do 2 things the minimize this effect.
1) Buy and use a higher quality paint that has more pigment in it. More pigment = more color pop!
2) Spray varnish your dried paintings - This will give your painting a gloss finish and help saturate your colors.
I have a video on #2 - Check it out below:

Hello there! Just a question.
I am trying to paint with oil paint and I found impossible to do "bob ross tecnique" cause my paint is not as smooth as his and it doesn't get into the tiny holes of the canvas so I end up with thousands of small white dots.
is it cause of the liquid white or because I should use canvas without this texture I am talking about? Thank you so much!
Interesting, What type of paint are you using?
Sounds like you are not mixing your paint well. Mix it with a palette knife on your palette first before you apply it to your canvas.
Also is your paint old or half dried out?
@@WildCreates I am using water mixable oil paint and it is a new package of Windsor paints :/, I feel it thick when I am using it, but when I mix it with water I don’t feel it like it’s working out. Maybe even more water?
Thank you for your response
Explanation: I can fill the tiny holes but only doing circles with colour so I end up with a full even color, so I can’t do skies, clouds and so on. Sorry for my English, It’s not my mother tongue
what is chemisty name? not the brand. thx
Not sure what you mean?
Yeah terrific, love liquid white EXCEPT... it's an absolute bastard to clean out of my damn brush, WHY IS THAT? What can I do to make it suffer for all the suffering its caused me? Odorless mineral spirits or gamsol are my go to for thinner, it works fine on everything else, but apparently liquid white needs to be an individual and refuses to cooperate as a team player. HELP
Interesting - I have not had any issues with it. Do you have a paint screen in your cleaning bucket? That helps a ton, it allows the thinner to reach more bristles when cleaning.
Are you also painting with impasto or cold wax by chance?
@@WildCreates Negative, basically I keep a Gesso brush around specifically to prime the canvas with the magic white, but I'll be a monkey's uncle if that brush doesn't take me 6 times longer than any of my other brushes to clean, and I'm not abusing it, I don't overload it, as I don't want the magic white pooling at all so I use a relatively conservative amount while coating my canvas. Regarding the paint screen, well, no not exactly. There are better screens to be sure and I plan on acquiring one but I do have a round piece of wood suspended over my thinner in a bucket which does the trick for the rest of my brushes, but that magic white is just stubborn
OK dumb question BUT... for this "premier brush" are you priming your canvas with gesso.... then leaving the brush dirty... then using the same dirty brush to apply your LW to your canvas?
@@WildCreates Nawsir, i keep my brushes separate, and very clean. I did build a diy Bob Rossian beater rack, as per your video so I'm hoping this clears up the issue. Perhaps it's just an issue of poor abrasion against the brush. Thanks!
I hope that fixes it - Wish I was more help BUT without being there in person its a little tough to lead ya in the right direction.
Let me know if you ever find a solution 💪
"Liquid Hwite"
Bob always says it the bests :)
I never use it, thank you. ❤🧡💛💚💙💜
Ha ha ha - well at least you learned about it.
@@WildCreates yes! I heard from you for the first time and for gesso. I tried to buy from local art stores here in Ruse. But i didn't know how to pronounce it correctly. So i can't manage and after that i bought online.

@terry christen What channel are your talking about?
You didn’t say what it is…
I say it in the first 10 seconds.... are you perhaps asking what is LW made of?
