Today we often lament the decline of a great art form into an endless flood of live-action comic books for adolescents. Don't despair, for what is true and good cannot die. It must be transformed, and reborn in every new generation. In this film, Mr. Krasner has given us the Citizen Kane of the second decade of the new millennium . As is so often the case with pioneers, it is obvious from this compelling cinema capolavoro that he has been inspired by the great masters of the past. BRAVO!!!
I like the energy of the music , It's so fast with that hesitation in the beat that sets it apart from other music . Even though I am a Jew I don't understand most of the words , but it still sounds good. I remember hearing this when I was a child. Some of my relatives played this type of music at family circle meetings in the Hotel Piccadilly in NYC. I was a child but I remember this. I am also a lefty
the kaos in the orchestra was interesting, we see it the Oyster Princess, Spike Jones, the Russian film 'The World is Laughing, and even in Fellini. A fine old traditional type piece and should not be forgotten. I bet it came from Music Halls and would love to know when it was first done.
Absolutely marvelous. Nice example. The toe-tapping syncopated music reminded me of that masterpiece, "Snow Black an' de' Sebben Dwarfs." I used that, along with lots of banned Looney Toons, in a class I taught about race and Hollywood. I wish I'd known about this one! Great job finding and sharing this with us! And Mapper, good catch on the pigs.
Would have liked to taken part in that class, have you looked around on UA-cam to see if the videos are still present? I just randomly find gems like this from time to time and say wow

@the1909house The orchestra scenes are from a "soundie". They were printed in reverse because they were rear-projected in Panorams. (a film jukebox). I simply forget to flip the pictue. Look at the lettering on the music stands...backwards, my bad.
@the1909house Good observation. The artists who drew this were most likely right-handed, so it's easy for them to draw images where most characters are left-handed, as the right hand of the cartoonist can draw the instrument better.
I remember seeing the cartoon on tv in the early 60s. Isn't there a shot where suddenly a radio microphone drops down and four of them start singing about the feud? What orchestra is in the soundie?

+Kegan Mahon It's a Terry Toon and it's title is 'A Mountain Romance". The dialog and music is better in yiddisher. By the way the juvenile lead is called Romeo Calhoun but I'll never be able to think of him as anything but Handsome Herschel.
That was great! Though I'm curious to know who the orchestra is that you show. The way they're beating each other up with instruments reminds me of heavy metal. XD
All educational efforts on this are obliterated by the simple fact that no dates are mentioned. It is a big flaw in UA-cam as there is no context to really appreciate. I would guess 1930s, but why do I have to guess???
I saw this film (without this sound track and orchestra), when I was a child. I love this animation, but it can not be Yiddish as there are pigs and ham here!

As a descendant of such people I can tell you that it could include any person of European descent who lived in hill country and was usually a subsistence farmer. One had to be poor to be a hillbilly. There is also an interesting term used by them and about them, 'Jake'. If a person is honest he is said to be 'jake'. If you propose and agreement with me and I say that it is, "jake by me' then we have a variable contract. But if you are dressed poorly and hopelessly old fashion then you are said to 'be Jakey'.
