It's fascinating to me that Jag invested in a double-wishbone front suspension, technically superior to the 3-series MacPherson strut and double-ball joint. I'd take the XE in a heartbeat over any of its competitors.
computiNATEor and what a suspension it is. You hear rather than feel the bumps on the whole, it is lovely. I drove over what can only be described as 100M of moonscape yesterday and it did admirably, waaay smoother than my RCZ or XKR (or equivalent BMW/Audi) would have been...
@@TedwardDrives I totally agree! I did exactly that (BMW 3 and 4 series, Mercedes C class, Jaguar XF) and the Jag won! Sure, the interior was more classy in the German cars, but if you ever drive a Jag, you'll be sold! It's different! Says style and class! Turns heads! A better driving machine hands down!
@renegadezen7841 I've had 3 s9nce. I enjoyed .y first one the most. Then I bought a 2016 X260 and was not impressed with the Tata quality. Sold it and got an XFR and was happy again. The first generation of XF was the best. Under Ford they were allowed to spend money and make them truly good cars. But when Tata bought them out things went south and still going south looking at their new strategy.
I recently test drove both, the 2016 BMW 340i (with the new B58 engine, as well as adaptive M suspension), and the 2017 Jaguar XE 35t premium. As sweet as that Bimmer is, I can attest to the fact that the Jag handles and rides better (even without any optional adaptive dampers, mind you). And it fit me comfortably and the overall quality is good for the segment. Add the standard 5 year / 60,000 mile warranty and free scheduled maintenance, and I think I know which one I'm gonna go for. I'm still smiling after test driving the XE. :)
Always funny to hear it pronounced Jag-war! It's strictly a three syllable Jag-you-are on this side of the pond! I'd buy this for the taillights alone! They look like an English professor's spectacles!
Aron Bell, I used to think like that, but the proper pronunciation sounds a lot closer to the American. It can go both ways, because Jag is a quintessential British brand, so the British pronunciation could be said as correct as well.
XE S (35t) owner - nice review, I love mine! With regards infotainment, the new 10" InControl Pro (quad core) is much better than the basic InControl touch in the car you reviewed. Not sure if it's standard for MY18 cars but I'd definitely spec it if you're buying used or new to futureproof as best as possible... I think you'll also find the XF was the real turnaround car for Jag, then the XJ, then the F type...
How would you compare this to the Giulia now that you’ve driven it Tedward? Mighty tempted by a used XE R-Sport or a used Giulia TI Sport (I know, I know, used Italian or British car LOL)
for these mid level sports cars the automatic boxes are getting really good. DCT won't die but It will be reserved for more hardcore models. The real tell will be to see if VW ever ditches the DSG for one of these ZF boxes.
Gotcha. The truth is the DCT is so reliable and the likelihood of replacement during a warranty period is small so many will weigh the options of inclusion or not. There is no doubt for higher HP cars, the DCT is likely more durable but I agree with you, the cost factor of ZF boxes is tempting for mid range cars/sportscars.
DoctaM3 I guess you haven’t heard of the audi S***-tronic issues then. Big issues with VW group DSG /S-tronic gearboxes in A7 and S5 plus many other models circa 2010-2012. Catastrophic failure in as low as 40,000miles with Audi failing to admit they screwed up. There are companies in UK and Europe who are making a healthy living repairing / replacing these gearboxes. Apparently, issues were rectified from around 2013 onwards.
I also own a 2017 Jaguar XE 35t with the 20' propeller wheels! (I'm also local to Los Angeles) The F-Type exhaust tuning would definitely be a nice addition, I reached out to a handful of Jaguar people both domestic and over in England, seems to be in the works at the moment. The best advice I heard to get a more pronounced sound is to delete the muffler. I'm personally not reluctant to taking it off mine, but I am very curious what it would sound like without one! Feel free to reach out anytime you want to see another 35t r-sport!
Joseph Lombardi what it needs is a switchable active exhaust so you can tone it down for long journeys and turn it up for hooning. Missed opportunity by Jaguar...
Tedward that's for sure! Its based on the Ats-v platform coming in at below 40 grand. For the out the box performance delivered, more light definitely needs to be shed on it. I too was once VERY anti-american (cars), but these days I fap at the thought of one behind closed doors 🙈
Nice review. Refreshing personality. Velocity and Quicksilver do exhausts for the FType. Maybe if there's enough demand they might try one for the XE. I want this car.
I’m currently in the process wanting a BMW 340i… do you still recommend this Jag or would the 340i be better? I want something I can easily tune, upgrade parts etc
X type is not a sexy car? Lol... My city is a tourism one and host visitors from many countries and i tell you everybody watch the car. Jaguar is always sexy and will be.

It would be hard for anyone to sit in them back to back and prefer the BMW. Jag has come a long way

I have this car and the handling is freaking amazing
Gorgeous car. I have an old XF and still amazed by its reliability and precise handling after 7 years.
How was your XF? I had a 2012 Portfolio. Now I have this XE 35t

Really refreshing to see an honest review of this car, as I never really know what to make of Jag!

JAGWARR that fucking hurts
haha sorry. If i said it any other way i'd also sound like a tool =p
I'm Aussie you fuck wit
Get outta here with your ethnocentrism.
I'd take this over the German 3 in a heartbeat....
Always funny to hear it pronounced Jag-war! It's strictly a three syllable Jag-you-are on this side of the pond! I'd buy this for the taillights alone! They look like an English professor's spectacles!
haha I was going to give the Jag-ew-ar its proper name but decided people on your side would slaughter me!
Aron Bell, I used to think like that, but the proper pronunciation sounds a lot closer to the American. It can go both ways, because Jag is a quintessential British brand, so the British pronunciation could be said as correct as well.
KGSVA haha yeah, I suppose we could all just make it simple and call it a Jaaaaggggg
Oh, Clarkson
Ian Callum is simply the best!

Ted,good review, short concise and to the point.Oh and by the way i'm english and i love your accent.
Finally some appreciation for an American accent! I appreciate it man..Thanks for the support!
I own this exact same car, wheels, colors, etc, and my god is it an incredible car
I need to know the name of the rims ?❤ mine are of spoke form❤
This car is like that sexy classy lady that has a black belt in taekwondo .
Have a 2017 XE 35T and I love it. I also got a chip tune (from VelocityAP) and now I get about 416hp, and 0-60 in roughly 4 seconds.
How would you compare this to the Giulia now that you’ve driven it Tedward? Mighty tempted by a used XE R-Sport or a used Giulia TI Sport (I know, I know, used Italian or British car LOL)
Interesting Tom. Would you elaborate on the DCT comment. What's replacing DCT?

Velocity does some good tuners but with any tuner, you’re rolling the dice as far as warranty work.

Completely agree
This is a nice car at a surprisingly low price for moderately equipped versions.
These are now getting to a sweet price.
I have this car and am loving it so far
Jag needs more dealers! Like the XE, but the F Pace is the brand heavy lifter at least for now.
Totally agreed...I need to get into an F Pace soon!
Another damn great review TED.. I think you have to be at least 50 to buy a Jag don't you??
the rules, they are a changin! I hope Jag keeps up the momentum. They could be serious contenders in the US market
I drove this car on Microsoft Forza 7. It’s awesome 👏 in the game. I know it’s awesome in real life. 👍👍👍👍👍 to Jaguar
Seems like a nice alternative to the BMW 3 series. Way more luxurious. More traffic for you too haha.
Are they other Non-Germans breaking the mold? Let me know!
Tedward the Camero SS 1le, that car is actually breaking German hearts!
I need to drive more American cars. Things have changed quite a bit since I was young!
Tedward that's for sure! Its based on the Ats-v platform coming in at below 40 grand. For the out the box performance delivered, more light definitely needs to be shed on it.

LOVE.
Do they not sell the 35t R-Sport in the states anymore? I only see 30t on the website
No they Don't.
The 2.0's are the only Available Engines Currently
JAG-U-AR..not JAG-WARRRR lol
😂😂👍🏼👍🏼 Right!
Nice review. Refreshing personality. Velocity and Quicksilver do exhausts for the FType. Maybe if there's enough demand they might try one for the XE.
I want this car.
It'd be interesting how this compares to say a Genesis, so many manufacturers are vying for this market.
The Genesis G80 is a full size class above the XE, as the G is way more focused on comfort and luxury, while the XE focuses on sporting performance.
Could anyone tell me what color is the car in the video? It is pretty
storm gray!
I’m currently in the process wanting a BMW 340i… do you still recommend this Jag or would the 340i be better? I want something I can easily tune, upgrade parts etc
340i 100000000%
MT would be nice. I like.
Good review!! However I wouldn't consider this car midsize a little too small . XF is more midsize.
awesome video man keep up the good work if u could check the dm i sent you on instagram and maybe reply would be awesome im a fellow youtuber
X type is not a sexy car? Lol... My city is a tourism one and host visitors from many countries and i tell you everybody watch the car. Jaguar is always sexy and will be.
The x type is a Ford Mondeo. It’s quite the opposite of sexy
They need to improve their engine. Unnecessarily heavy. Give us a flat 6 beh beh
they are still TATA
Michael Canyon Capital - and you're a twat. Let's all move on.
