Feeefz I am looking as well, just checking old reviews. Trying to work out if cooled seats were standard or an option. Nice thing is, not reading about reliability issues.
Had one of these puppies for over a year now. It's a phenomenal car. And new mods mean you can easily upgrade to get the full 480 horses out of that superb SC V6.
I recently test drove both, the 2016 BMW 340i (with the new B58 engine, as well as adaptive M suspension), and the 2017 Jaguar XE 35t premium. As sweet as that Bimmer is, I can attest to the fact that the Jag handles and rides better (even without any optional adaptive dampers, mind you). And it fit me comfortably and the overall quality is good for the segment. Add the standard 5 year / 60,000 mile warranty and free scheduled maintenance, and I think I know which one I'm gonna go for. I'm still smiling after test driving the XE. :)
OMG there was no reviews for this car on UA-cam as of a couple weeks ago and then BOOM, my fave reviewer is in the seat of the car im most curious about. THANK YOU!
Car, scenery, road, photography all incredible.... Great work!! Wish we had freedom to speed and drive like this in Oz. We'd be in gaol if caught at half this speed!!
Jesus that's a gorgeous road...I'm considering the XE as my next daily-driver and would be buying in December, I would much rather have it over the 3-Series, A4 or C-Class. Tested the 25t (that's all that was in stock) and even in that guise it was a good car. Awesome video!
It really sounds great. Muted growl to muted roar with with a little whine on top, and all without the fake electronic nonsense that others are resorting to. Sounds just right from the outside too.
Paul Deverill all in all i think jag have a winner here. looks great, sounds great, drives great, and the electronics are finally on par with the germans. i think especially bmw have totally lost their sense of style...
Annnnd you basically just sold me on my next courier vehicle! I was literally out looking at the bimmer 340 xdrive, and C400 4 matic (I'm in NE Canada so um SNOW!) earlier today. Frickin love that engine note!
I'm thinking about purchasing a 2017 Jaguar xe but I don't know whether to go for the 25t prestige or the 35t premium. Ik there's a difference in the engine size but I was wondering if the 35t premium had the same amount of options as the 25t prestige since it has the next level engine. Or does the 25t prestige still come with more options since it's the prestige. Somebody please help.
I find it humorous that everyone claims it is too small on the inside...and completely forget the older 3 series is pretty much about the same dimension wise. These are called 'COMPACT executive' cars for a reason. On the other hand, the Cadillac ATS & this Jaguar XE seems to be more focused on their driving qualities than anything else. Which would you prefer driving Matt?
I've had both the 2.5 Duratec V6 (99 Ford/Mercury Cougar) and the 4.2 AJV8 (2004 Jaguar XK8), and the difference in quality and build is unbelievable. The Duratec V6 was the worst engine I've ever had in a car. Constant oil leaks, head gasket problems, valve problems, intake problems, everything you can imagine. But the Jaguar AJV8 has been amazing. It has always run so beautifully and I push it very hard. Those two experiences have taught me that there is nothing even remotely similar about the Ford and Jaguar engines, even from that time period no matter where they were built.
Nice All Black top you have on there Matt. I'm a Kiwi and will probably buy one of these this week. Here in New Zealand the XE S is very rare, but your review has made up my mind.
I own this car and it’s the best car I’ve ever owned, the pulls this car can do is out of this world, also in person it looks even sexier than in the videos, in tunnels it sounds ridiculously good, and I don’t have the little rectangle piece in the front grill which makes it look much more streamlined
93455Driver only regret was hitting a pothole I didn’t see, had to replace a tire, a $300 mistake. But other than that no regrets, no reliability issues or anything. Yes, the cooled seats are wonderful on hot days!
Do you think the $12,400 price difference is justified in terms of handling? In other words, are you really just buying a nicer body style as opposed to other hidden tidbits that make the F-type use the engine better?
The first thing a noticed long before you mentioned it the plastic shift paddles that seem to come from a cornflakes package... I mean please who did this????
I like how the one take is Matt driving through a forest. While all the drive-bys are through snowy mountains. Kinda funny. Did you end up driving to the snow covered mountain as seen in the one take?
Are you sure the V8 has the same external dimensions as the V6? It was my understanding that the V6 was based on the V8 minus two cylinders, so it should be shorter.
Matt, at 2:00 you said the car has an LSD. This is not true. It uses brake-based torque vectoring. The actual rear differential is open. Other than that, great video!
The AWD uses a clutch-based rear-to-front differential in conjunction with brake-based torque vectoring, but it still doesn't have a mechanically locking rear LSD (like in an F-type S, M3, etc). Its an easy mistake to make. Especially when filming stuff in one take!
Nice, must visit there someday. I like the cutaways and good outside audio. I know very little about cameras and even less about mounting cameras in cars on a budget (GoPro's excepted) but it would have been even cooler to have really really sharp forward facing video. Anyway, I'm sold. I'll have one in green on those wheels. Send me the money.
Nice review Matt but I don't know how can you fit behind yourself in that car when I have the XE 35t too and cannot fit at the back at all without sliding down or tilting my head. I am 6ft 1 by the way.
no, I was by myself, but Jaguar provided the B-Roll (exterior shots) which was done by a professional crew. I don't know what's different about the acura video; everything is exactly the same as it always is.
Jesus that shot at 1:33 was just perfect, like wow. How is it possible I haven't seen anyone else comment about that clip?
I picked mine up last week, and must say it's the best sounding V6 I've ever driven. Very happy.
Still have the XE? Good car?
I have that exact car. 8 years later 60K miles and still drives smooth
Just bought a 2017 with 61k miles and it's amazing so far
@@renegadezen7841 Careful about your coolant, they're known to have leaks throughout. had mine done earlier this year
@aynse_ yep. Always gotta watch for that on a Jag. I had an XF and it had coolant leaks
Ahh, I can't wait until 3 years pass by and I can purchase one for less than half original price.
One more year to go!
This comment has aged extremely well. Spot on guess.
going to buy one now! haha!
Feeefz I am looking as well, just checking old reviews. Trying to work out if cooled seats were standard or an option. Nice thing is, not reading about reliability issues.
@@93455Driver just bought mine, cooled seats are an option not standard. :/ I also thought ambient lighting was standard but it is an option.
jaguar have killed it with this car absolutely fantastic.
Had one of these puppies for over a year now. It's a phenomenal car. And new mods mean you can easily upgrade to get the full 480 horses out of that superb SC V6.
Have one what i do to get 480?
3:25 when the acid kicks in
Yes!! Lol
thanks for that
lol word
It's a fucking rainbow, man!
Matt, the scenery of your road tests add another dimension to the viewing pleasure. Thanks.
Jaguar look like they've done yet another good job with this one. I really like everything that they offer right now.

So did you stick with it?
How did it act?
@@turkay67turkay Yep, 4 years into a fuss-free, fun ownership. The interior has become severely outdated but I love the way it looks and drives.
Hey Matt. I'm glad you enjoyed my home state! You should definitely come explore more of the mountain roads around Vail. Truly breathtaking.
They did a great job with the exhaust. If you close your eyes you could imagine an old Jaguar XKE going down the mountain road.
OMG there was no reviews for this car on UA-cam as of a couple weeks ago and then BOOM, my fave reviewer is in the seat of the car im most curious about. THANK YOU!
I want it, because its a Jaaaag.
I'm terribly sorry! I ran over your dog.. in my Jaaaaaaag ;)
Would you mind paying this time old chap, I appear to have gone and left my wallet in the Jaaaaaag
Enlighten me with the source of this reference, please.
Hahaha. Love these, thanks yáll.
And of course old Jezza.
MetalAsFork Its from a Top Gear episode, where the 3 guys talks about owning a Jaaaag ;)
thanks for pushing the quality content constantly Matt
Jaguar seems like a nice company to fly you out and provide a hotel, food and a killer looking car. You have a great job.
That's pretty standard stuff across the industry. Cheaper for them to fly 50 people to one place than to ship cars all over the world.
Fantastic camera work on the flyby shots on this one!
I own a 2019 XE S AWD. One of my favorite cars to drive.
Any issues? I'm currently in the market
I love the continuity in this vid Matt!
Drive by shots are gorgeous
Those waves on the windshield..
It's most likely from the polarized windshield. Matt may be running a polarizer filter on his camera as well.
+GrandCamino6 I keep thinking its a fkn wall outlet
i thought i was high without being high on shrooms
Car, scenery, road, photography all incredible.... Great work!! Wish we had freedom to speed and drive like this in Oz. We'd be in gaol if caught at half this speed!!
Those drive by shots are so on point! Nicely done!
loving the cinematography of the opening shots. also loving the submariner matt!
can't tell if my pain meds are kicking in, or that windscreen has a crazy coating. fuck my leg hurts.
What did you do to your leg?
Too much footing, eh?
Myalgia from excessive footjobs eh?
They are probably using a polarized filter.
I see the same. :)
+Andreas Breslawski Pain meds do not suck.
The 'waterfall flyby shot' - skills!
Another tough day in the office - stunning scenery.
Glad to see a review of the Jag XE it's on my top 3 list for cars to buy next.
Your camera crew must have loved this trip, those vistas are unreal!
I don't have a film crew but I certainly enjoyed the scenery!
Your camera skills are great man. love your videos
You creeping up on 600k Matt congrats 👍👍👍
these generation of the jag looks clean and simple
Jesus that's a gorgeous road...I'm considering the XE as my next daily-driver and would be buying in December, I would much rather have it over the 3-Series, A4 or C-Class. Tested the 25t (that's all that was in stock) and even in that guise it was a good car. Awesome video!
I've had my 25t remapped to 300bhp. Plenty quick enough for me! Lacks the sound of the V6 though.
the sound with that faint supercharger whine is superbly beautiful!
It really sounds great. Muted growl to muted roar with with a little whine on top, and all without the fake electronic nonsense that others are resorting to. Sounds just right from the outside too.

God Damn. That scenery takes me back.
I agree Matt superb piece of road. Exceptional camera work guys. Phenomenal vid, very nicely done indeed. This car was perfect for a one take imo
Video quality wise, Best one take yet👍
That's a neat squatting slav uniform you got there Matt.
But really, that place looks amazing. All those trees!
I love the car. You really don't see too many of them but I'd honestly rather have one after seeing this and the other reviews.
Camera work looks great Matt!!! 👍🏻
Really enjoy your car reviews. I feel like you are giving a very honest review with no bull shit.
I had one of these in Italian Racing Red. I absolutely loved it. Mine didn’t have the active cruise like this one does.
I'm thinking about purchasing a 2017 Jaguar xe but I don't know whether to go for the 25t prestige or the 35t premium. Early congratulations on 600k Matt.
Feel free to make videos like these longer, the scenery is so nice to see
Love the psychedelic reflection in the windshield!
that water fall shot and good lord the mountains, I can't wait to go over there and drive me cuhmaaaro
Damn.. that alien in the windshield 01:48
Right now I'm at 0:20 and really excited for this review
Now all they need to do is stuff a detuned version of the V8 from the F-Type and throw a R in the name. XE R! I'm a marketing mastermind (I'm not)
Imagine an SVR version 😍
TheWesh 832000 It'll sound better than everything in the segment. That's for sure.
(You are though)
Nice vehicle and gorgeous road!
The wheels on this car look amazing!
Def a beautiful car. I would most likely chose this over an S4 or 335.
I find it humorous that everyone claims it is too small on the inside...and completely forget the older 3 series is pretty much about the same dimension wise. These are called 'COMPACT executive' cars for a reason.

im guessing it handles better than my grandad's 1972 xj6?
Just a bit.
Just maybe
***** yeah! lovely 4.2 XK straight 6!
***** I dont know for certain but 8L with some number or letters after than comes to mind, i think i remember him saying that

For me, the C-Class still wins this category. The only problem with the Mercedes: it's so popular, it's everywhere!
C class isn't even sporty like bmw and jaguar it has so much body roll
Nice All Black top you have on there Matt.
I'm a Kiwi and will probably buy one of these this week.
Here in New Zealand the XE S is very rare, but your review has made up my mind.
The waterfall made me laugh. I didn't know you were so artistic haha
Good video Matt! Thanks again.
Very picturesque video. epic location to drive. i'd love to see the diesel review also
I own this car and it’s the best car I’ve ever owned, the pulls this car can do is out of this world, also in person it looks even sexier than in the videos, in tunnels it sounds ridiculously good, and I don’t have the little rectangle piece in the front grill which makes it look much more streamlined

Owen Hido Good stuff, found a certified all red R with black accents for sale, but no cooled seats. Some coming off lease.
93455Driver wonderful, should be a great car for you, enjoy it :)
What a Stunning road...
Beautiful car no doubt. My only concern is that I feel that Jaguars have more mechanical issues compared to the rest of the European brands.
I cant believe you were in my small town and I missed it.
That definitely is one gorgeous road
Good day my friend. Special scenery and a performance Jag saloon. Great early push at the German big three.
that view is insane!
Hey Matt, how would you compare this supercharged V6 on this XE vs. the F-type? Are the driving dynamics similar?
It's exactly the same, if we're talking about the engine. The F-Type handles differently, but the engine is the same as the base F-Type on quiet mode.
Do you think the $12,400 price difference is justified in terms of handling? In other words, are you really just buying a nicer body style as opposed to other hidden tidbits that make the F-type use the engine better?
+Jayson Wong I would say that sure, the F-Type is worth $12k more than this car.
That's awesome, thanks!
Lol
Forget the car and look at that gorgeous view of the trees and mountains. OK the Jag is nice too.
beautifully shot video
You got new camera gear?! Footage looks extra crisp!
Nope same gear, just fresh Colorado clean air
funny there's a couple fires near by
This looks like the love child of a 3 Series and an A4.
Matt, did you get a chance to check out independence pass while you were up there? Its right outside aspen and one of the best views I've seen
yeah we drove over it but it was too far from home base to shoot the video the next day. it was stunning.
jag all day always
are you going to drive the alfa romeo quadrifoglio at some point in the future?
yes, when press cars get to america.
nice Matt, thanks for sharing the views were spectacular!:). What is the name of this road by the way, I would love to drive it when I visit Colorado!
Like the editing!
How can the 5.0 V8 have the same outer dimensions as the 3.0 V6?
they just make the cylinder holes in the six farther apart
Wouldn't that just make it a 5.0 V6? lol
further apart, not bigger.
moving two cities further apart makes the drive between them longer it doesn't make the cities bigger.
Incredible scenery!
What's causing the moire on the windshield? Is there some kind of polarized coating?
polarized windshield reminds me of my trip the other night haha
were you required to wear the flat cap while driving the jag? did it come with it as a journal car? you know so you look like the owner of the jag....
Who did your intro animation? Whole vid looks really legit, good work.
I like the older v8 models but this one seems really nice
The first thing a noticed long before you mentioned it the plastic shift paddles that seem to come from a cornflakes package... I mean please who did this????
Matt, you meant the BMW 340i with the performance package, it can be ordered with xdrive too and have 360hp vs 320hp in the "normal" verson.
I like how the one take is Matt driving through a forest. While all the drive-bys are through snowy mountains. Kinda funny. Did you end up driving to the snow covered mountain as seen in the one take?
Yes
+TheSmokingTire dope video. really enjoyed the relaxed feel. Watching poolside in Vietnam
wow Aspen is amazing
Your job is awesome
Did jaguar supply the b-roll?
Would you recommend buying one if it has 100k miles?
I wonder how easy it would be to swap the metal shift paddles for the plastic ones.
Are you sure the V8 has the same external dimensions as the V6? It was my understanding that the V6 was based on the V8 minus two cylinders, so it should be shorter.
How do the back seats in a 3 series compare to this? Other videos I've seen of the XE back seat look cramped compared to the 3 series.
Matt, at 2:00 you said the car has an LSD. This is not true. It uses brake-based torque vectoring. The actual rear differential is open. Other than that, great video!
Hm, interesting. Even in the AWD model? Maybe I misheard something in the presentation
The AWD uses a clutch-based rear-to-front differential in conjunction with brake-based torque vectoring, but it still doesn't have a mechanically locking rear LSD (like in an F-type S, M3, etc). Its an easy mistake to make. Especially when filming stuff in one take!
+Michael Giles thanks for the correction.
Nice camera work

Nice video, thinking of getting one for the wife to sit next to my M2. What are your thoughts on that garage?
god damn that's truly a fantastic road
Nice review Matt but I don't know how can you fit behind yourself in that car when I have the XE 35t too and cannot fit at the back at all without sliding down or tilting my head. I am 6ft 1 by the way.
did zack help film? video quality jumped big time on this and the acura vid.
no, I was by myself, but Jaguar provided the B-Roll (exterior shots) which was done by a professional crew. I don't know what's different about the acura video; everything is exactly the same as it always is.
