You can earn more than a doctor in many careers. Chartered accountants, tax advisors, and financial analysts will earn more than a senior registrar (consultant even) typically 5-6 years out of university. Investment bankers even more. Managers and senior managers in STEM can make 65k+ onwards with perks like private healthcare. I think too many people assume it is only medicine that makes a good salary. Other careers can pay more and have much greater benefits with the pay package.
I wouldn’t become a doctor for financial gain, especially not in the UK.
Do you know which degrees in STEM that are related to A level biology and chemistry? Or any degrees that will land me in a good-paying STEM job (mainly the science part)
@@Kausarproductions I would do a degree in chemistry. This way you can stay in STEM or move into finance/banking etc. Biology isn't really a numerate subject, especially in comparison to chemistry and physics.
Many of these "jobs" are quite competitive and unstable. Investment bankers get replaced daily by new grads and are often pushed aside as they age whereas doctors are always in demand and actually get better as they age
Fully agree,
plus new lighting setup giving that shine.
Nice video boss
Such a unique take on a video!! Loved it!:) can’t wait to watch your other content
Glad you liked it!!
Great video
You’ve provided a great explanation. Additionally I think that when drawing such comparisons people should take into account the percentage of graduates who make such a position. As a med student you can be practically guaranteed a registrar position in a few years time (as long as you pass your exams ofc which 99% ultimately do) whereas only a few graduates from management courses actually end up at high managerial positions
Agreed!
💯
Aldi have a graduate scheme that pays a starting salary of £44,000 and after four years will rise in increments to £80k. That being said, the scheme is incredibly competitive and this isn’t a consistent salary that is paid to grads across the industry. Also, and correct me if I’m wrong, you don’t go into medicine for the Money, if a nice salary if what you’re after why not go into tech or law for half the effort?
Good point. Keeping in mind that Medicine is a healthcare degree above anything. And as for the salaries, tech especially though.
I would disagree, doctors in the US can earn between $400k-800k+ with experience.
@@AmarT097 We weren’t talking about the US, hence the £’s ;) but yeah you’re right
@@chunli3443 people do study medicine in the UK with the intention of moving to the US though (for the money).
@@AmarT097 Yeah they do. I mean, they deserve to get compensated for their hard work. Tech salaries in the US can be well in the six figures too (nowhere near the 800k mark though).
Doctors make 200k in usa
