_"IN THE 41ST MILLENNIUM, THERE IS ONLY WAR."_ --the mantra of _Warhammer 40,000_ If you watch the first video again, you'll see the description says the Adeptus Astartes (pronounced "ahh-starr-tees") in this fan-made series have been tasked with putting down a human rebellion. The Adeptus Astartes (or "Space Marines" in the fictional Low Gothic language), like the rest of the Imperium of Man spread across the Milky Way Galaxy, are fanatically loyal to the God-Emperor of Mankind, who has been entombed on His Golden Throne within the Imperial Palace on Holy Terra for the past 10,000 years. The Space Marines are surgically-modified 9ft-tall men who can live upwards of a thousand years if they are not critically injured on the battlefields of the galaxy. Entrusted with adamantium Power Armor and fitted with a variety of weapons such as rocket-propelled Bolter guns and Plasma Pistols (both seen in this fan film), the Space Marines are His Angels of Death, zealous veterans of thousands of battles against the many extraterrestrial alien horrors and armies of the galaxy: arrogant-yet-fragile *Eldar* (and their pirate-like cousins the *Dark Eldar* ) incompetent yet funny brutish *Orks* the small upstart and ignorant *Tau Empire* with their surprisingly-advanced technology uncountable insect-like *Tyranids* mindless cyborg *Necrons* and their own gods the C'Tan and worst of all -The Ruinous Powers of -*-Chaos-*- spawned from within- the Warp (through which Mankind _must_ travel in order to get around/exceed the speed of light for interstellar travel) Though some details from the universe are left out (such as which Space Marines Chapter this is, and whom this nameless rebellion is), the two humans who put up an actual fight against the Space Marines in the fourth video are Psykers- humans born with the natural ability to tap into the power of the Warp. While not as _physically_ capable as an Astartes, Psykers use their connection to the Warp mixed with their emotions to perform magic, but are viewed as a disgraceful filth of humanity- a necessary evil required for the Imperium to both communicate with itself and navigate across the galaxy. The God-Emperor of Mankind is the most powerful human Psyker who has ever lived, founding the Imperium of Man some 18,000 years earlier, but whose seemingly-immortal life may very well go back over 44,000 years (roughly 4000B.C.E., no exact date has been given by Games Workshop). Most Psykers are rounded up by the Black Ships of the Imperium, and taken to Holy Terra, where _one thousand_ of them are sacrificed _daily_ to keep the God-Emperor alive so that He may continue to guide and protect us from His near-death state upon the psychically-powered Golden Throne that He is desperately lashed to for the last 10,000 years -since the Horus Heresy.- *THE EMPEROR PROTECTS. There is no game called warhammer (well there is Total War: Warhammer 1/2, but those are total war games set in Warhammer fantasy). This is a fan project set in the Universe of Warhammer 40 000, a Grimdark scify/ fantasy, in which dozens of quite well known books, games, soon the Eisenhorn series (based on the correlating book) and originally a tabletop rpg are set in. If you want a nice, bitesized taste of the universe, just watch The imperium of Man video of the Channel Templin institute (or one of their other 40k vids), the Helsreach series and the Guardsman shorts.
@@tacitus5665 warhammer 40k dawn of war series?, space marines? battlefleet gothic armada? what the hell aree u talking about unless ur saying theres no game called excatly as just Warhammer 40k then yea there might not be one, and as you have pointed out theres also the Warhammer Fantasy games such as Warhammer Total war.
Fun extra detail: if you look at the two psykers, each of them has only one arm. One has a left, and the other has a right. Considering that the death of one sent a psychic backlash through the other, I think the implication is supposed to be that they were conjoined twins.
React to the short 13 part series Helsreach. It is so incredible. Every 3 episodes improve in every aspect from the previous. Starts in charcoal, ends in beautiful CGI. Made by 1 person who got hired by GW for the quality of Helsreach. I cannot wait for the the day I can watch something with the action and motion of Astartes and the Story or Helsreach combined. By the end it will take your breath away.
SO the story: This takes place in the Warhammer: 40,000 (40k for short) franchise. These super soldiers, The Adeptus Asatartes (Ah-start-eez) are the elite soldiers of something called The Imperium of Man. A vast galactic empire spanning over a million worlds. Sometimes these worlds rise up in revolt to try and become independent. The Imperium then shows up to refute their arguments by killing them all. These Astartes, or Space Marines, are here to kill the last remnants of some of those rebels, including their leaders. That's the basic plot of these videos.
Warex although hilariously, sometimes the imperium doesn’t care about the rebelling worlds so long as they keep paying their tithes of guardsmen and remain faithful to the Emperor of Man. Beyond that... the imperium really doesn’t give a shit what you do. Also it’s beyond inflated and bloated to properly notice most of the time. It’s only the particularly troublesome ones that garner Serious intervention, rarely lesser rebellions. Warhammer lore is so much fun to dive into! 😁
@@CaptainFirespitter True. Sometimes it takes years for word to even reach the High Lords of Terra, and even more until it reaches someone that cares about it. Rebellions like the one in Vraks where the Imperium mounts a massive war effort to retake it are fairly rare and it has mostly to do with a planet's strategic value.
Dude on the right:"Keep rolling, keep rolling, keep rolling!" This is the the love of the game, fam. Right on. Edit: Episode 5 is out now. May want to check it out.
Yeah guys this is the Warhammer 40k universe, it is so awesome to watch you reacting to it because it is totally cool as a dystopian future setting. What Blitztek kept saying about "who are the good guys" is a theme constantly explored in the 40k universe, through games (RPG and real time strategy) books and a tabletop game of both types.
Warhammer 40k!! For the Emperor! Just for people new to this, those guys are humans in armor, but they are about 9 ft tall without the armor. Start with The Horus Heresy if you want to get more info.
there are other games where you can control Space Marines but that one seems to me to be the most visceral and that gut feeling that's what it would be like to be one
I think it's awesome you guys reacted to this, the creator is a one man team who sadly got hacked and we are all hoping he comes back and finishes his story. You guys had an awesome reaction haha seriously one of the best.
I'd like to see them do a reaction to part 5 now... Part 5 revealed that in this case the Astartes were at least the less evil of the 2 factions. The psychers (gold helmets) were weak and created artificially by the things in the vault. (Really powerful psychers can kill entire plants by accident).
Thes shorts are based off the the table top game Warhammer 40K. It'd s 32 year old game with loads of great lore and novels for it. Look it up if you are interested in dark sci fi. It's about as dark as you can get. Bad guys... The armored guys... worse guys... the guys they just fought their way through because they are more than likely agents of Chaos... (Hell). This is a fan made series of shorts that hopefully continues to be made. I have loads of respect for the artist who made this as it's side project that they aren't getting paid for yet it's of the highest quality.
Interesting artwork in the bottom left. It is a Space Marine of the Blood Angel chapter. They don't desgnate themselves with arrows on the shoulders I think.
"What is going on?" Yeaaaah... The marines got guns that are basically automatic rocket launchers. Also they're not robots, that noise and red glint when the caught guys eye lens cracked was a camera. The helmets are basically solid to lessen weaknesses, so its an optics system thing acting as their 'sight' instead.
i love the effect this guys short series even have on people that know 0 on 40k. i hope the creator knows just have far his mini movies are going on youtube!! bring on part 5 baby!.
These videos are unofficial videos for a game called Warhammer 40k . I've never played the game and I think it's a board game but it has a lore and storyline that in my opinion contest with others like Halo, Star wars, and even lord of the rings
This is not technically *one* thing, there's a whole universe called warhammer 40k this is from. This is just one guy's badass short series he made. Trust me, there is SOOOOO much more to the 40k universe than even the most in depth anime.
I love all of Astartes but at the end when the Psyker drops and he puts his blade away like it was nothing. That's how a Space Marine would be. Spot on.
“Keep rolling, keep rolling” 😛 warhammer 40k is addictive! As other people have mentioned there are no good guys in 40k. Space marine the video game may be your next stop.
I think the most entertaining thing about this video was the guy in the orange shirt on the right. Watching the waves of excitement and awe on his face was fantastic.
As a hardcore 40K fanboy, I can't tell you how amazing it feels to see newcomers get this hyped for 40K content! Hope to see you guys when part 5 comes out!
@@shadowscall7758 I think people wildly confuse 40ks xenophobia with our understanding of racism. Human diversity is not at all questioned in the Imperium. You'll find all kind of races within every facet of life and rank in the IoM and its militaries. Heck they even allow entire communities of sanctioned and disfigured mutants, that would frighten the living crap out of every normie. They are just incredibly paranoid of Alien factions ( and for the most part, for perfectly good reasons ) and whatever they consider unsanctioned mutants - aka entities and especialy psykers they can't control and use for their own needs. Are humans dicks in 40k and would you want to live in that setting ? well, honestly that question is also not black and white to me. There are over a million inhabitated human worlds, and millions of inhabitated satellites ( moons, space stations etc ). Living conditions, social structures and mentalities vary so greatly among the various imperial cultures, you can't simply generalise like that. Heck the Imperium even lowkey ignores commerce between far away border regions and the Tau Empire, because as long as the Tithes are paid, they don't necesserily see any immediate need for intervention. They also occasionaly ally with Eldar factions if there is a common threat.
The imperium is extremely racist and bigoted. Not against the same stuff the Nazis were, sure. But it is extremely racist and brutally treats its own citizens based on how they were born or to whom. So is pretty much everyone else in 40k and it can be justified. That is the point.
@@shadowscall7758 Sorry but that form of discrimination is not racism. Any high-born imperial could be of any race, ethnicity and gender, which is also literaly the case. You are of high status because you were either born into it or "earned" ( or took ) it through various means, not because of your skin colour, culure or origin. Again, those aforementioned attributes are completly irrelevant in the Imperium, proven by the fact there are high-born, commanders, merchants, leaders etc of all colour, genders and races. To some degree even mutants are tolerated in those ranks. Besides that 40k novels have some of the most diverse character casts in any fictional setting. Check it out, also because they are fun to read.
Went to a con recently, amongst a sea of stormtrooper and Star Wars outfits was the lone Astarte. He stood tall and proud, truly an inspiring sight amongst the same ole’ same ole’ I see from Star Wars outfits.

If you watch the first video again, you'll see the description says the Adeptus Astartes (pronounced "ahh-starr-tees") in this fan-made series have been tasked with putting down a human rebellion.
Entrusted with adamantium Power Armor and fitted with a variety of weapons such as rocket-propelled Bolter guns and Plasma Pistols (both seen in this fan film), the Space Marines are His Angels of Death, zealous veterans of thousands of battles against the many extraterrestrial alien horrors and armies of the galaxy:
arrogant-yet-fragile *Eldar* (and their pirate-like cousins the *Dark Eldar* )
incompetent yet funny brutish *Orks*
the small upstart and ignorant *Tau Empire* with their surprisingly-advanced technology
uncountable insect-like *Tyranids*
mindless cyborg *Necrons* and their own gods the C'Tan
and worst of all -The Ruinous Powers of -*-Chaos-*- spawned from within- the Warp (through which Mankind _must_ travel in order to get around/exceed the speed of light for interstellar travel)
Though some details from the universe are left out (such as which Space Marines Chapter this is, and whom this nameless rebellion is), the two humans who put up an actual fight against the Space Marines in the fourth video are Psykers- humans born with the natural ability to tap into the power of the Warp.
Most Psykers are rounded up by the Black Ships of the Imperium, and taken to Holy Terra, where _one thousand_ of them are sacrificed _daily_ to keep the God-Emperor alive so that He may continue to guide and protect us from His near-death state upon the psychically-powered Golden Throne that He is desperately lashed to for the last 10,000 years -since the Horus Heresy.-
*THE EMPEROR PROTECTS. THE EMPEROR PROVIDES.*
*PURGE THE ALIEN, THE MUTANT, THE HERETIC.*
most Necrons aren't cyborgs, there's nothing organic left in them; cyborg is short for CYBernetic ORGanism, a fusing of flesh and metal; Pariahs are cyborgs but most Necrons are robotic bodies with Necrontyr consciousnesses uploaded into them; Pariahs are the special unit that first showed up in Dawn of War Dark Crusade who have the special blades that permanently reduce an enemy's max HP until all Pariahs are destroyed, i would imagine they would be useful against commanders
1000 psykers are sacrificed daily to keep the God-emperor alive, crazy...
@@adolphus28
And 1000 psykers-per-day multiplied by the 10,000 years He has been on The Golden Throne is... _how many_ psykers sacrificed to the God-Emperor of Mankind thusfar?
@@EVAUnit4A three billion, six hundred and fifty million

Agreed, would love to see that
Helsreach actually made me cry, i am proud to admit that!
I am wrath incarnate
Part 5 is out it's 7 minutes long
Another creator is called. Animation: death of hope
i love it wen non fans just instantly fall in love with the franchise. everyone can love 40k!!!

Yes.
this is a fan made cinematic displaying the game "warhammer 40k"
The guy that made this is a straight up animal...unbelievable.
Please help and bring awareness his channel has been hacked
@@tacitus5665 though the Warhammer 40k table top is called Warhammer 40k and it is a game.

Well put.
Rebellions like the one in Vraks where the Imperium mounts a massive war effort to retake it are fairly rare and it has mostly to do with a planet's strategic value.
unfortunately this is no longer accurate
"is this a game, or a movie?"
yes
Yeah the Astartes channel is hacked as of right not just for any one that doesn't know yet
Dude on the right:"Keep rolling, keep rolling, keep rolling!"
This is the the love of the game, fam.

'Whos the good guy?'
Inquisitors would like a word with you.
The Emperor protects!
Warhammer 40k!! For the Emperor!
Just for people new to this, those guys are humans in armor, but they are about 9 ft tall without the armor. Start with The Horus Heresy if you want to get more info.
Pedantic response: they WERE human. The Astartes are beyond us. Post-human. And they shall know no fear.
@@NialasDubh They know fear.
@@NialasDubh Very true battle brother. Please allow me the honor of speaking to into the local Chaplain about my heresy.
Nah, 9 ft is too much, they're more around 7-8ft, a normal person's head would be around their shoulders
9:27 That look when you realize 5 isn't out yet.
Imagine them finding out they can play as an Astartes in Space Marine. tehehehe.
there are other games where you can control Space Marines but that one seems to me to be the most visceral and that gut feeling that's what it would be like to be one
Using the Thunder Hammer in Space Marine...an orgasm in gaming form.
I think it's awesome you guys reacted to this, the creator is a one man team who sadly got hacked and we are all hoping he comes back and finishes his story. You guys had an awesome reaction haha seriously one of the best.
One of the best reaction videos I've seen, good work guys!
All three of these guys showed the best reactions to this video.
Once you go GrimmDark, you ain't never going NobleBright again
I'd like to see them do a reaction to part 5 now...
Part 5 revealed that in this case the Astartes were at least the less evil of the 2 factions. The psychers (gold helmets) were weak and created artificially by the things in the vault. (Really powerful psychers can kill entire plants by accident).
Part 5 is coming, Astartes finally got justice, his youtube channel was restored and he put he is working on it
Thes shorts are based off the the table top game Warhammer 40K.
I'm so happy for these guys. Imagine Astartes being your first exposure to 40K.
Good start
bop god Damn right.
Interesting artwork in the bottom left. It is a Space Marine of the Blood Angel chapter. They don't desgnate themselves with arrows on the shoulders I think.
I loved your reactions right after part 1. Just "now I want to see more!"
One of the greatest reaction videos I have witnessed! It's great to watch people react to this series like this! Welcome to 40k gents!
In the beginning it says that the space marines and astra militarum had stop a chaos rebellion that was the last remaining force of the rebellion.
“Severed man’s spinal ting!” I love the east/south London accent
Games workshop better hire this dude and give him $$ and a crew for a full movie fam
"What is going on?"
Yeaaaah...
Astartes was my introduction into the 40K universe....
PART 5 IS DROPPING IN ONE HOUR! I hope you guys get around to enjoying that when it does ♥️
Inquisition motto fits all of 40k..."Innocence proves nothing"
there is going to be another part though im sure thats on pause while the Astartes channel is currently hijacked
I love how quickly they went from "I don't know what this is", to "play the next one!"
This is the best Game Adaptation of all time
their expressions went blank as soon as it started, this is some talent
This is 40k. There are no good guys, just lesser evils.
@Quentin Lennox because the greater evils are gonna kill everything

Part 5 is out bro. You guys have given one of the best reactions to this series and part 5 is insane, we need you guys on it
id recommend rewatching parts 1-4 before 5 tho
These videos are unofficial videos for a game called Warhammer 40k . I've never played the game and I think it's a board game but it has a lore and storyline that in my opinion contest with others like Halo, Star wars, and even lord of the rings
jsut so you guys know, part 5 was released 4/2/2020

This is not technically *one* thing, there's a whole universe called warhammer 40k this is from. This is just one guy's badass short series he made. Trust me, there is SOOOOO much more to the 40k universe than even the most in depth anime.
When they learn that each bolt round explodes that’s what I wanna see
I love the fact you guys get progressively closer to the edge of your seats the more you watched. This universe is mad
just to let you guys know episode 5 dropped a couple of days ago, and the whole animation was done by one guy.
Oh the joy of watching new people discover space marines

FOR THE EMPEROR, HERATICS SHALL FALL BEFORE HIS MIGHT
This is one man's efforts to visualise the Warhammer 40K universe. A labour of. love he did entirely himself.
I strongly recommend to check out the “FOR THE EMPEROR” video
I love all of Astartes but at the end when the Psyker drops and he puts his blade away like it was nothing. That's how a Space Marine would be. Spot on.
Y’all see the new Astartes that was put out? You’ll like it
I love how they react when it gets cut off, I reacted the same the first time I watched these, like "MOARRRRR, GIVE ME MOAAAARRRRR"
“Keep rolling, keep rolling” 😛 warhammer 40k is addictive!
As other people have mentioned there are no good guys in 40k. Space marine the video game may be your next stop.
I love how people that know nothing about 40k are still this fascinated by this series. Btw part 5 just dropped you guys should check it out.
Unfortunately the guy that is making the astartes film got hacked.

Confused reader / audience: " .... Wait. Who is the bad guy .... and who is the good guy ? 😱"
GW: "Yes."
Well, it is pretty clear who is worse than others, but everyone is bad. I mean, Nazi's would be seen as a paragon of light and goodness in 40k.
@@shadowscall7758 Not to mention, there are entire planetary and system wide communities of different ethnicities and races governing themselves.
