Great build man. Finished my first one of these in nichrome, all nice and shiny. My girlfriend says, aww you've made me a bracelet! She was most displeased when I cut that puppy in two, coiled it and vaped it. Heh heh!
I wanted to thank you for a killer idea. I started out almost 3 years ago with an Ego Tank system. I have since upgraded to a clearomiser. I have been rebuilding my own coils for those for several months. I have played with different wire sized, everything from 30 gauge to 34. I recently saw your video and it prompted me to experiment. I started with 3 short strands of the small 34 gauge, made a loop on one end, clamped it, and braided it. I then made a short coil 5 turns and installed it. Best vape I'd had in over 2 years and it lasted at least 3 times as long. I'm using a slightly different braiding technique. I can see with a unit that delivers more amps that a 6 strand would be much simplier to braid. Thanks again, keep up the good work! You never know who you may inspire!
Bill Jamison I'm glad I was able to help inspire you to try something different and it's a bonus that you enjoyed it… I have plenty more to come, thanks for checking them out!
The Art of Vaping no problem man i think you do an awesome job your builds are always clean so its nice to see you and kent and duane all combine your knowledge. True builds brothers. Awesome work Ryan
im not a vaper, and will probably never be one but i like how much effort they put into making damn coils that cant do more than heating. this is art..
Having started vaping a little less than a year ago, getting my first subtank 2 months ago and my first RDA a month ago..these vid's are awesome. Gives me faith i have the ability to make cool stuff like this. Thanks for the awesome vids!
My Doode is at it again! Another great video. Might give this one a go sometime, but for now I'll be sticking with playing around with Claptons. Hope you had a great time at ECC/VPX, thanks for the sweet stickers again, and I'll see you next time you drop by the shop. ;)
Great video...i tried this with 26 gauge Kanthal, 5 wraps and single coil on my Druga ohms out at 0.196 ohms. Vapes great and very interesting using my hands instead of a drill to build. Thanks for a great upload
I have heard your name around for awhile but I am not an instagramar. Caught the reviewers que best que to date IMHO. Was so stoked to find out you had a youtube channel as well!!! This is one of the most informative build videos I have seen to date and thats alot!!!! The quality of the production, content, angles ect. is outstanding. Thank you for all your time and effort. Its nice to put a name with a face. You are a true artist. Keep these videos coming. Can tell your good people and thats getting harder to find on youtube. THANK YOU.
Jared Bradley I thank you for all the kind words! The Reviewers Queue was a lot of fun and I'm glad you enjoyed the episode, I might have had one to many beers towards the end! haha I plan on making as many of these videos as I can and thank you for checking them out and the sub!
thanks for the reply squidoode its nice to see u directly talk to your viewers and ill def send ya an email about some of the more difficult coils... i dont really have the funds to keep wasting tons of kanthal on builds that are to hard for me lol but i dont mind dropping the cash on some professionally built coils... thank you for your videos they are a huge help :)
Love it. You seem to be the perfectionist of perfectionists! haha I am among my vaping friends, I will hijack someone's build before they finish if its starts looking sub-par so I can fix/salvage it. And I can tell you totally have mastered the way you do this!
Doode you are amazingly patient I spend hours playing with coils. I don't think I dig the process for this build it was rather confusing to me but it looks great.
Played around with the braided builds a few years ago but never found a efficient way to do them all ways liked the preformence but where a pain to do this is a great idea thank you
WOW! Another great build man. I don't think I'm going to be trying this one anytime soon, LOL. Still very cool to watch the process to see how it's done. Nice job!
Vapefog Reviews You might be surprised at what you can do!! You should definitely give it a try! Thanks for checking my videos out, there will be more to come!
think by far this is my favorite coil so far. I know claptons, fused claptons, staggered fused claptons, and alians, probably perform better but I can do this coil easier and consistently. thanks for what you do for us
Been wanting to try this build for a while, thanks for showing us. I would recommend letting people know to not pulse with metal tweezers touching or with the screwdriver in the coil. It seems like common knowledge to us, but I have had way to many customers in my shop that have done that.
Thanks for the video Doode I was wondering how to do this build i thought you had to use a drill and couldn't figure it out lol. Keep up the good work.
This build looks amazing, about to go try it right now, thanks man. I tried a braid last week by hand with no vise or anything to anchor it, that ended up in the trash
I'm trying to become an ex smoker... I really enjoy watching stuff about the builds and different tanks and set ups and such. Anyways... You seem really cool and informative so you got another subscriber
Great vids! I thoroughly enjoyed the format and feel of the tutorials. I only have a few minor gripes that if you addressed would make your videos a whole notch better: 1. You said a vice was not really needed to do your builds but would greatly help. Maybe suggest a few alternatives for the majority of us that don't own a vice? 2. I noticed that in your other videos as well that you don't really have a camera angle from your (the builder's) perspective. This tutorial especially would have greatly benefited seeing an overhead view from your side of the table. I felt a little confused during the braiding and had to rewind the vid quite a few times to really see what you're doing. 3. The speed up transition was perfectly timed! However, the "vhs speed up effect" on it got in the way of me seeing you do it. I thought it was a little unnecessary. I wanna see it all! Speed it up like you did but maybe not obstruct what you're doing. Again, solid videos doode. Keep up the great work!
WellKeptCellar appreciate the comments! Your first comment I do address in the video, I stated that you can use a C clamp or vise grips… as for the shots and angles, this was the second video… I've posted 3 videos in the last 5 weeks. I have added a few angles from the first video and in this one there was an overhead shot from my perspective, but I do agree.. Every shoot have incorporated more and more angles/set up… Trust me, I'm no expert on making videos and I like to think they have only been getting better! Hopefully that trend won't stop! Once again thank you for the comments and checking the videos out, hope I'm not coming off as a dick because I do appreciate the input! haha
i like your videos so i subscribed and honestly no offence to rip trippers but your a lot better of a tutorial person and much less obnoxious and i like that.
kyle austin haha, thanks Kyle, really appreciate that comment! I still am trying to get use to being in front of the camera, but I can promise you there are more videos to come! Thanks for checking out the videos!
This is epic dude, Ive been trying to figure out how to get a tight braid like this for a while. My Braided coil is a bit different, I use four strands and braid around the screwdriver, so your not wrapping any coils, you just pull out the screwdriver an the braid goes around the wick. like a cable loom or braided rope, it works killer with ribbon wire.
I didn't think he was really big, I met him at a vape comp a few weeks ago. Holy crap I'm dying, I'm dead. Love the video, a true inspiration and dream come true to meet this dude!
Not my type of builds (cause I suck and have no skill or patience) but awesome produced video! Clear pics and good camera angles, narrative perfect (not too slow and not too fast), editing, and kept it interesting Wish you success with the channel. Nice build too !
Keep the build videos coming. My new spot to watch coil builds. Great quality and an easy tutorial to understand. Just don't grow a beard and start acting crazy lol
love your coils, i made this one and the fishtail, i get about twice as much from the fishtail, but that one is now one of my favorites, i like it better than normal fussed claptons, but thanks alot
Hey Squid - I know somewhere back there you explained why this is a better coil and I can't find it, but if I had to guess I would say A) It doesn't easily burn thru (lasts longer) ? or maybe B) The braid presents more surface area = more heat? Be kind here I am a LOL (little old lady)... You have excellent teaching skills- the best I have seen on youtube and I have watched a slew of how tos. I taught Art and I would be hard put to find any flaws in any of your lessons. I was especially crazy about the wire braiding - Braiding hair is easy but wire will tangle and kink, creating a weak spot, I would think. Thanks here is your like
C Chandler I just caught your last comment! Thanks for watching it until the end and thank you for the kind words, it means a lot to me. Was there anything you still had questions about?
damn, i remember making these at summer camp except with string. did a 30g Kanthal one the other day... without gloves. found out why you used gloves ;D *i got blisters on mah fingers!* its a really "soft" coil, have to be really careful pinching and wicking with the gauge i went with, but could do a dual coil at 0.203Ω. VERY tasty coil as well! ALMOST as good as a fused clapton.
Ummmm How the fuck did I miss this channel? Been vapin for years now, I watch several reviewers. Never heard of this channel, I found it just surfin around. Beautiful shit, my man. I am impressed. You have inspired me, I got to have some of these in my RDAs! Thanks a lot for this tutorial. Liked and subscribed! Looks like I got some coils to build...
The Art of Vaping oh and one more thing..i saw the comment about how advanced builder guy down there thinks you should cut out talking. Yes a lot of people talk fast for viewer retetion but i consider myself advanced and everything you said flowed went super smooth and in my opinion those thongs you touched on are crucial for someone who needs not just the motions but an explanation as well. I think you killed it..second vid or not i think it was a1
Thanks man! Yeah, the whole point of these videos is to not only demonstrate how I personally go about making them but also to inform others on the little things I have noticed through trial and error! I appreciate your comment and believe me, there is a lot of things that get cut out or that I feel like I left out. I want to make these videos as easy to watch but I also don't want to do anyone a disservice by glancing over certain areas…
This is awesome, I'm gonna make it. Should be different using my hands instead of a drill for once. Lol. What do you think the outcome would be if you hammered it down after braiding it? I'm gonna have to find out myself. Vape on and build on bro
ROBERTO BENAVIDES yeah I recommend first starting with 28g a cause it's easy to work with but once you get it down definitely try it with higher gauge wire!
Just finished this one made with twisted stainless steel 32GA And must say it's amazing way how to actively spend time when watching movie. Thanks a lot! But I will have one small request for you. Can you please also make tutorial how to make alpha braid wire? I'd love to learn to make that one and you have, from my field of view great way to teach stuff likes that. Of course if you know how it's made. Have a great day!
Enjoyed the vid. I definitely will be making this one. For me, though, it's hard to see "the move" when you have the gloves on. I'll be watching until I get it, but that was my first impression. Just curious, though, would you ever do a dual coil build on a braid? Thanks, again. I, for one, appreciate the time and effort these must take to film.
David D I might be able to answer that. For a three loop braid, you are essentially making a braid of six individual strands (after you cut the ends) so that means the ultimate resistance will be 1/6 of the original resistance of just one of those strands. So if you wanted to know if dual coil is possible, yes it is, it will just depend on the gauge of kanthal you use, and the size of the overall coil. Because the ultimate resistance will be 1/6 of the original resistance of one strand, that means you'll need wire that's on the higher resistance side to give you a safer margin when it gets divided six times. I know doing this vertabraid in 30 gauge, six wrap around a 3/32 bit, will read at about 0.45-0.50 Ω, so doing a dual coil setup will be around 0.23-0.25 Ω. If you want to do this with a heavier gauge like 28g, just add more wraps (at least seven) and/or increase the bit size (at least 3/32). Always remember to practice battery safety, and know your battery specs before attempting to fire it, and also to have an ohm reader before attempting this build. Good luck.
You know, that time when you thought "screw gloves dude.... I'm a man, I can take it." Shit, blister city son. I think I'm going to use gloves next time ~(>_
This coil just screams bling. I kind of want to try making it, but at the same time, I've never tried making any advanced coils and I'm kind of afraid of messing up. Badly. :P
Mindblowing built...am pretty new to this. What would actually happen, if you cause a short in a mech mod? Does the battery ( a really good IMR) really explode, or will it just vent??any experiences? Responds very much appreciated
I like this build and its really cool work, but I just don't see that coil method doing anything worth all the effort. Is a braided coil like that really any different from a normal thick wire coil?
Great build man. Finished my first one of these in nichrome, all nice and shiny. My girlfriend says, aww you've made me a bracelet! She was most displeased when I cut that puppy in two, coiled it and vaped it. Heh heh!

This reminds me of friendship bracelets at summer camp. Finally, I can put my childhood arts and crafts skills to good use. lol
Nihilistic Nachos do you remember the plastic braided key chains we made? You could make round or square ones. I want to try with wire now lol
Kudos on quite possibly the most professional vape related video I have seen, and I mean ever. In ever Jim, in ever.

Thanks doode for the tutorial!!! Really glad you're sharing tips and tricks!!!
Of course!! Thanks for checking it out!
this is one of the sickest n simplest coil builds iv ever seen I think I got my every day personal use build now thanks bro. great idea
i watched this video and tried it myself and was surprised at how relatively easy it actually is. thanks for doing such an informative video
Seriously, are you producing all of these videos alone? Impressive to say the least. Keep it up. These are a blast to watch.
I have been waiting for a braided tutorial for ever and you where just excellent and professional. Man I subscribed right after watching thank you

Thank you!!
wow you´re indeed the master of coil building. awesome done bro. subscribed and greetings from germany
Another good one. Looking forward to the next!
Dude I've been making copper bracelets and rings that I bet the wire out after I weave it and this just took it to a whole new level.. thanks man

wow, damn squidoode, this is a very awesome build. I wish I had the patience for this build. great job
Awesome vid, man! Now I'm going to have to go get a vice and try this out!
If you have a C clamp or vice grips those will work as well for an anchor!
Thank you!! just did this build today 4 wraps running .13 dual coil 110 watts on the snow wolf she hits like a champ
must be a beast build!
great quality brother and a lot of fun to watch. thanks for sharing!

Matt Jonet as a good friend should do! haha
haha I'm glad I have support on this one!

A beautiful coil and fantastic presentation. I'm putting it on my list of coils to try. :)

reminds me of jewelry class from high school, with how pretty it looks.
Great vids! I thoroughly enjoyed the format and feel of the tutorials. I only have a few minor gripes that if you addressed would make your videos a whole notch better:

Really nice vid brother! I will defiantly practice this technique now with the help you have provided here! Thanks!
Not my type of builds (cause I suck and have no skill or patience) but awesome produced video! Clear pics and good camera angles, narrative perfect (not too slow and not too fast), editing, and kept it interesting
Wish you success with the channel.
Nice build too !
Thanks, this worked out really great, just what I was looking for. Made the perfect braid with no mistakes. very easy once you get going.
I builder this just now while watching and it turned out perfect. Thanks man!

Great vid best coil builds ive ever seen
Great video, I always wondered how you guys were making these braids.
Solid work as usual doode!
Bro,outstanding vid !!! Nice job both,vid & tutorial !!! U make it look easy,

You should be making wire wrap jewelry with those skills!
The two art forms definitely have similarities!
This is awesome, I'm gonna make it. Should be different using my hands instead of a drill for once. Lol.
What do you think the outcome would be if you hammered it down after braiding it?
I'm gonna have to find out myself.
Vape on and build on bro
I have found with this braid when you flatten it out that it becomes very wide and hard to fit in most post holes, but still give it a try!
That makes sense, what about using 3 strands instead of 6? Or possibly going a higher gauge and then doing it. I've got work to do lol
ROBERTO BENAVIDES yeah I recommend first starting with 28g a cause it's easy to work with but once you get it down definitely try it with higher gauge wire!
The Art of Vaping thanks for the heads up bro. I'll tag you in instagram if I have good results lol.
Good luck.
***** Thanks, Thomas. I get it. Can't wait for your next vid.
awesome video. definitely worth trying
Very nice coil build it helped me bulid mine corectly the first time.
I love the intro!
You know, that time when you thought "screw gloves dude.... I'm a man, I can take it." Shit, blister city son. I think I'm going to use gloves next time ~(>_
so much to do.. the tuts are excellent.
nice work buddy
Joshua Bucello Thanks man! Sorry to hear about your IG… Hopefully it doesn't take long to build it back up!
Now I can build a dope coil and my girls hair :P
This coil just screams bling. I kind of want to try making it, but at the same time, I've never tried making any advanced coils and I'm kind of afraid of messing up. Badly. :P
Mindblowing built...am pretty new to this. What would actually happen, if you cause a short in a mech mod? Does the battery ( a really good IMR) really explode, or will it just vent??any experiences? Responds very much appreciated
very nice may try this down the road
if you want to practice first grab some yarn, I know im grabbing some of my hemp rope to practice lol I think I want this for my temp control build
Sweet technique !
Niice, will be looking for more braided tutorialz =D Keep up the good work! =)
Wizard Wingman Thanks doode, appreciate the compliments and thanks for checking the videos out! More to come for sure…
great video man keep doing them!!! but i do have question on what you think the best build is to get dense clouds but with less juice consumption?
Didn't know they had a tutorial up. Been doing braid coils since last year. Great video though
Such a nice biuld!
Oops you answered some of my questions right at the end, I proly should have waited
Amazing. Good job
I like this build and its really cool work, but I just don't see that coil method doing anything worth all the effort. Is a braided coil like that really any different from a normal thick wire coil?
Jarrod P Very different, there are all kinds of differences with wicking, flavor density, throat hit, juice consumption and vapor production
