    thank god. i thought i was crazy w/ the stuff i take to the gym but i carry almost everything you went through. since my gym doesn't have a dead lift jack, i bought a dead lift wedge. takes up so little space i sometimes forget i have it.

    Yes, talk about belts. Include the Spud brand belt if you can. Jennifer Thompson makes Bench Blox. Which look to be more versatile.

    It's not a lifting accessory per se, but one of my favourite gym accessories is my knobby lacrosse ball! It's so great for warm ups, tacking muscles, and getting out knots all over the body and in areas that are hard to get with a foam roller. My MB hip circle is hands down my #1 though :). Next I'd like to try out some heeled shoes and see if they help me

    I just bought my 'Gateway' belt - as a crazy, koolaid drinking Crossfitter using my friend's belt for doing 90 deadlifts DEFINITELY saved my back!
    The only thing that I include is a lacrosse ball for mobility before squatting. I get some pretty funny looks sitting on one to mobilise my piriformis but it definitely helps my squats!

    I suppose not lifting gear directly but in my gym kit I also have a set of bands (love getting creative with incorporating these) and a lacrosse ball for working out kinks (or if you are extra fancy - the hyperice hypersphere - but its pricey).

    For those who want to save money, the single-prong Lifting Large 10 mm belt is the least expensive IPF approved belt you can buy and IMO every bit as good as the more expensive ones. You can also find some really inexpensive 10mm belts on ebay that IMO will easily hold up 80% as long as the more expensive ones. BTW, unless the stitches catch on something sharp a 10mm belt can easily hold up for 20+ years.

    Love your videos. Starting to hit a wall with my squats, so I may have to invest in a cheap belt. I'm very close to 100kg, i can almost feeeeel it =D =) I use wrist wraps with EVERY movement because I have arthritis in my hands and without them I have pain for days. Mine are the cheaper ones that you mentioned. Also have the SBD's on your recommendation, they are just brilliant, but you aren't wrong about them being a B to get on and off.
    Thanks again for another awesome video guuuuuurl

    I have a velcro belt but I got an Inzer belt for my birthday last year, but I have yet to use it because it feels way too heavy duty and sadly, I'm afraid I'll be judged for not lifting enough to warrant using it. So my question is, how long does it take to break in the Inzer belt? Does it ever break in?

    • @FromTheAshes7
      @FromTheAshes7 6 років тому +1

      Belinda Kennedy The Inzer belt indeed does initially seem to be bulky and excessive. I just started using a belt this time last year. There are ways to help break in the belt quicker (there are videos on here). It will take about a month of consistent use before you mentally get used to it. And maybe 2+ months before you notice that the belt molds to your body. It *will* get better.

    • @Megsquats
      @Megsquats  6 років тому +3

      Good perspective. Grip strength can come in handy for a ton of different things, so I think exercising that is important. If you're incorporating strapless heavy DB training or pulls, and pull-ups then you'll be able to train your grip strength still.

    Finding my grip prohibiting my ability to hit my deadlift program of 8+ reps. Should I try wraps or chalk? Also feel pretentious at the gym w equipment when I’m only 105bw dead 165 for 8+, not moving monster weight like the rest of you 😳

    • @Megsquats
      @Megsquats  6 років тому

      You should always be using chalk when you're gripping a bar. Def listen to the comment below and work on grip strength. Try to use straps sparingly, but usually high rep sets like that, def use chalk + straps. Warm up, and try some sets with no straps, then practice heavy carries with dumbbells at the end of your sessions.
      NO SHAME IN THE WEIGHT YOU'RE PULLING! It's all relative!
