What are your thoughts on this? Toxic or not toxic? As I say in the video, I see a lot extremes of both across my UA-cam and social media’s which makes my opinion was too specific to apply to trophy hunters as a whole
Hey @PlatinumBro I was wondering if you or anyone in your community could help me with the online trophies on kung fu panda showdown of legendary legends cause the online is dead in that game no one plays it anymore I the platinum Is unattainable so could you help please? thank you
Yes and no, what i dont like is dupliate games just to earn more Platinums, and doing easy games are fine to, just mix it up, some easy, some hard, i struggle myself with with just creating new account if im unhappy, its dumb but yea.. So i try to get atleast 50% on games but skip platinum, to addicted, but its hard.. So many Great games i refuse becuz to much job, or to hard,
Toxic things i've heard when talking about platinums: - I wish i had this much time to play. - I don't see the point in trophies, you're just wasting your time. - You used a money glitch? You can't count that. - Using a guide is easy. - You need help with a online trophy? Let's just play the game, i don't care about trophies
Flexing about the amount of platinums today means absolutely nothing. Thanks to the thousands of shovelwares lol. I prefer to look at the amounts of Ultra Rare trophies on psnp, you can't cheese that atleast lol. And it's much more impressive when you have a lot.
I gotten 1, 8 out of 10 difficulty a platinum (Devil May Cry 5) and I been riding the high. I have not done anything past 6/10 difficulty since then LOL. You all should enjoy the games you want to enjoy.
I platinumed demons souls, all 3 Dark Souls and Bloodborne... But never got the DMC5 platinum no matter how much i wanted, Its much harder than Souls for me. Huge congratulations dude! You deserve the bragging rights
Sometimes I’ll watch PSN account reviews and someone will see that someone platinumed a Telltale game and add a comment about/criticize it for not being a hard platinum. They just played the entire game because they wanted a chill experience? What’s so unimpressive about that?
@@rochie4865 Definitely! I think profile reviews should be an appreciation of how we all have different tastes in games but are still part of the same trophy hunting community. I guess people just turn it into a competition which is quite disappointing.
Yeah I couldn’t agree more, I think when review lists, you want to find those impressive ones etc and I think you forget that people don’t just play impressively hard games constantly
Being in several trophy hunting groups on Facebook I have seen my share of toxicity towards me or others based on some of the games played. Those negative comments do sadly stick with you more. I have gotten better at shrugging them off. I play games mostly to escape my depression so I don't need all that negativity. I still enjoy gaming and trophy hunting right now. I am currently at 366 Plats! Great video @PlatinumBro!!!
Yeah I get you. It takes time to grow thick skin to bounce it off but really you shouldn’t have to be a position where you are bouncing off negative attitudes in such a niche topic/hobby
I've personally never seen toxicity in any fellow trophy hunter I've interacted with, that's not to say there aren't bad eggs in every group. But honestly, if anyone wants to be a jerk, just block them and move on. No one needs to deal with some unreasonable asshole in their hobbies and gaming is one hobby were we can easily block people from every interacting with us.
I love sitting back and listen to you talk. I don't have time to spend playing video games all day now that I'm 28 years old but listening to you talk just for 20 minutes while gaming in those brief periods is kinda nice. Thanks for being you. :)
I find the difficulty hate comments so weird. Difficulty is different for each person... Personally I might find an "8/10" racing game to be easier than a "4/10" souls game. But that's just because I've played racing/FPS/sports games my whole life, and never really been exposed to Souls games so I really struggle with them, whereas it would be the opposite for lots of people. I'm not gonna go round commenting on people who have done racing game plats saying "why did you find that hard it's easy" 💀
Hahahah so many people would do this. I also imagine if you were to write a guide, you’re not gonna put the game as a 5/10 because you are very experienced in that game genre where as a lot of guide writers do
It can be so toxic. However, it can sometimes drive you to go for tougher platinums. For example I am now only a couple trophies away from platinuming cuphead. But play the games you want, Ignore completion percentage and remember to stop when it is no longer fun!
I personally feel like i've had great experiences with the people i hang out with in the trophy hunting community. But i have encounteree some absolute idiots who do everything to make you feel like you're lesser for trophy hunting a certain way. And i honestly could not care less for those people. Seek out good people and you will find em. Especially in the platbro discord!
Yeah I think that’s the best advice you can give. I’ve definitely seen a lot of negativity in the comments of my vids but that’s just UA-cam I guess ha
I feel like the trophy hunting community can have some of the chillest, most nicest people you will ever meet, and then there’s also people that bully you because you didn’t play a game on its hardest difficulty
I believe where there is toxicity you will find over inflated egos. It normally stems around particular people either thinking or wanting to portray that they are so much better than the average gamer. For these people it's most likely not just gaming that they do this with. For the most part I would say that the trophy hunting community are supportive of each other but like with everything, there's normally a few bad apples. I would go as far as to say these bad apples are likely not as good or confident as they portray and some are just trolling.
100% It’s interesting when you realise that ego protects the sense of self and most ego driven comments and actions etc all just comes from a place of low self esteem
Only use these communities to find partners for some trophies but everything else is toxic. If you don't play and Platinum the hardest, toughest platinums you're not a true trophy hunter, laughable. Shovelwear is fun when breaking up big titles and especially if you race against friends to see who gets it faster. Play Your Way!
I think for the most part, the community is awesome and helpful! I genuinely think most people are super supportive but there will always be people in the comments saying skill issue etc lmao. I do have vivid memories of going through forums on PsnP and reading peoples arguments, it's always a fun time lol. I'm honestly surprised with how little toxicity you found in there :) Anyway good vid PlatBro!
When I platinumed Batman Arkham Knight with all the DLC except the 3 combat ones from the community challenge maps someone was trying to tell me “it ain’t that hard go back and do it I got it done in an hour” to which I said. “Well good for you but I’m just not good enough to do those ones. I could barely get the Brutality 101 trophy so I felt I went through enough torture” he then said “well actually props to you for willing to admit you not good enough. Haven’t seen many trophy hunters actually have that kind of humility or self awareness, I really respect that. Maybe you’ll get it one day but don’t torture yourself for it” and I found that very nice that they weren’t the typical toxic and came around very quickly
I was reading and talking about them hahaha so that’s why it took longer. ‘It took you 17 minutes to read this? It only took me 3 mins.’ Hahaha a literal example of toxicity that I gave in this video. I’ve got 3 degrees brah. MSc & 2 BScs but yeah, you’re a better reader and smarter than me 🫡
I have never really platinum'd a game. For most part I just play a game just to enjoy myself without being stressed for trophy hunting and making myself feel miserable in the process. I feel like that some people just love to boast messed up ego for most part when it comes to platinum flexing. Which I find very funny for most part lol.
From my experience, most people on PSNP are really positive, but there are topics that tend to start negative discussions. A few examples are: - Any time shovelware games are brought up I have seen a lot of discussions between people defending their shovelware plats and elitists looking down on them. There are usually a lot of nasty comments from both sides of the argument. Sometimes the discussion extends to easy games in general. Sometimes it's a discussion if (and how) the leaderboards should be changed to exclude easy/fast plats. - When the DLC of an AAA title releases without trophies I have seen multiple cases where people were really excited about a DLC but suddenly lost interest when it became apparent that it wouldn't add new trophies. A recent example was the release of the Elden Ring DLC. After powerpyx revealed that there weren't any trophies added for "Shadow of the Erdtree" some PSNP users stated they wouldn't buy it because of the lack of trophies. Others found it ridiculous that people would want to miss out on a great DLC just because it didn't add trophies, which caused a long argument between both sides. - A game unexpectedly adds trophies years after it launched It doesn't happen as often as the other topics, but I have witnessed some nasty discussions when a game suddenly released new DLC trophies and people complained about needing to come back to a game to earn the new trophies. In some cases the discussions between annoyed people and excited people derailed into long arguments if games should receive new DLC trophies years after they were released. While many people try to keep the conversations civil there are sadly always some who start to attack each other and derail the discussions. Sometimes these discussions only calm down when one of the moderators steps in. Luckily those discussions are only extreme exceptions. I don't think I would spend so much time on PSNP if every conversation escalated that badly.
I dont give a shit what other peoples platinum status is. Its my journey & how i see things. If a trophy glitches on me, im not ashamed to use hacks, glitches, bugs to unlock it. I dont 100% all my games & only platinum games i either like or "feel" like platinum it. Im happy to boost multiplayer stuff as well. The games i truly enjoy is skill based single player ones with no bugs or issues, so when you unlock that trophy, you really feel you earned it. TLOU remastered grounded mode comes to mind. Once im home from work, gym, the daily struggle, im gonna play whatever i want & not give a shit for other peoples opinions on it. Lifes too short to care about any toxic crap, especially on digital trophies on playstation lol!
I said trophy hunting is toxic on your community poll because i thought you ment the trophies itself. Community isn't toxic, might be one of the best communities around even. What is toxic to me is when publishers misuse trophies to increase playtime in a bloated game. Plat should be for all content seen and done plus some fun challenges and eastereggs/quircks (for instance, in minecraft you use coal to make charcoal, then you use the charcoal to make charcoal, pointless and funny because it gives a trophy). What it shouldn't be is doing the same misc objective 250 times (looking at you ubisoft). IMO 90% of ng+ modes shouldn't even be a trophy. If you don't add more then one armor you shouldn't ask for a replay. Again, in my opinion.
Couldn’t agree more dude, it’s one of the main negatives I have towards trophies now. Spending 20 hours doing ‘busy’ work is just not worth it to me anymore
@@PlatinumBro Exactly, i find myself skipping games now because they sound like a chore, that can't be the point of trophies, even from a buiseness standpoint. I'm currently playing the Ps3 version of Minecraft, it suprised me how nice it is. It has a very small world to play on, and most modern updates (2018 - now) aren't there, so there is less bloat and more nostalgia. Since there won't be new DLC trophies its also completable for a change. If you haven't played that version yet i highly recommend it for the next time the minecraft urge hits! Btw, amazing content, keep it up :)
@@bullylowenthal2683 i didn't know that, im ironically a fan of the openworld ac's but not the old ones. I don't like the filler ofcourse, but AC's always had that and i prefer the modern controls. Stories were better in the golden age but honestly i'd rather watch a playthrough on YT. Great to hear that Mirage didn't do it though, gives me hope for future titles.
As someone who used to ONLY go for hard platinums and burnt out. When coming back you truly realise not only the importance of your time, but the enjoyment easier games give you (triple A games, not grubs). You still get satisfaction from earning trophies and can have a blast. When you have less time or burn out easily, earning those harder platinums seems useless. You work and earn trophies for yourself, not for others. As long as you are earning platinums on games you enjoy, not what you think others will congratulate yourself on.
I appreciate the sentiment of this vid, but the example you used of the Avengers guide that someone wrote, the first reply saying "Why did you write this" was quote replying the original post, and reply to it saying "Information is always good" and went on to thank them for writing such an in depth guide!
I actually saw the difficulty thing on RetroAchievements and its in my RA video lmao. Dude said "Ackshually this was easy 🤓 " look at his profile and he doesnt even fkng have it 💀💀
I think its funny how some 30 year olds still living in their parents basements brag about how fast or better they do things in video games. I got the platinum on Cuphead this week after 60 hours of pain and self improvment. Then I went to a forum to discuss the game and some assholes were putting people down saying how easy the game was and that they platted in around 15/ 20 hours, don't know if I belive it. But even if its true it doesn't mean you should put others down for heaving trouble to achieve the same goal.
As someone who recently started trophy hunting after getting a new ps, platnium hunting is addicting, i even joined a few forums for help with the god awful multiplayer trophies, and i can honestly say most of the people i meet are just straight on egomaniacs, i met a guy who bragged about platniuming all the dark souls games... like okay bro. Good stuff but did i ask?
I don't understand people who go for 5 minute platinums and then duplicate them just to get more Platinums. But another thing is that there are people who have others get the Platinum for them. Like ...why?? (I know someone on my PSN friend list who has 350 platinums, and i looked at his trophies, and he earned two platinums at the same exact time {time and date}. I asked him about it, and refuses to respond. I even asked beforehand what his hardest platinum was, and his response was an ambiguous "they're all hard". 😒😑 I'm beginning to believe this guy is a fraud.
@@PlatinumBro I'm sorry if it seems if I'm coming off as being "toxic", but I also can't apologize for how I feel about the matter. These people are basically cheating just to get trophies, and that in itself is a "toxic" behavior, and makes absolutely zero sense. If you're gonna try to show off a big platinum collection with a huge trophy score, then make sure it's legit. Becuz I will call someone out on that BS. If you're on my friend list and I see you are legitimate trophy such as myself, then I will tip my hat off to you and chat it up with you about mutual trophy adventures. If someone truly likes to get these platinums in the most underhanded way possible without the clout, then just hide yer damn trophy list son!
@@Arrowz_88 people trophy hunt for different reasons I see people say they only do it for their favorite games, see going only for hard plats, and those for leaderboard ranks or high numbers or my reason profile leveling to me profile 999 is the ultimate plat for your profile and unfortunately 5 min plats will save years trying to achieve it.
I had befriended a Guy over Viktor Vran multiplayer trophy. I was curious about his 250+ plats...they Are all shovelware easy platinum games, mostly duped for both PS4/5 versions with no longer titles more than one or two trophies in. It was funny. Wheres the Fun in the numbers if you dont experience the games behind them
I regularly play the games at the same time, I even did 4 consoles at once each with diff games to play them faster, I regularly play narrative games like telltale all at the same time
I have a few 8, 9, 10 difficulty platinums like Diablo IV, Cuphead, Binding of Isaac & got Fall Guys legit but I did struggle to complete games like Gauntlet that I thought would be a walk in the park loll, I'm going with FF7 Rebirth for #200 as its one of my childhood game but damn that's harder than expected hahah. I'll manage to get through tho! I saw you have Cuphead in your backlog as well! Go get that boy! I believe in you!
Out of my circle of friends I'm really the only one that goes for the platinum. I just enjoy the hunt. They rib me for it, though. Think it's mostly just in good fun, but occasionally get the "You're just wasting your time on that game you've already beaten when you could have moved on to something new by now." and that one kind stings cuz it feels a bit more laced with venom. However, from other trophy hunters? I get positive reinforcement and productive feedback/advice when going for specific things or asking for help/ideas on how to get a specific trophy. So, I think overall it's not toxic, it's the people who don't trophy hunt that are the toxic ones, even if they do so unintentionally.
I used to use forums all the time for interests and hobbies I'd have, but mostly abandoned them long ago when I realised they were more negative than positive. I used the PSNP forums a handful of times, was in a thread with a load of shitty comments which i called people out for and people decided to attack me instead. Haven't used them since.
@PlatinumBro I was on the Guacamelee sub forum the other day (as I'm just short of the 100%) and someone was asking how difficult it is for someone who isn't good at platformers. There was obviously a person there talking about how it isn't hard at all and doesn't deserve the 6/10 rating. Like, shut up dude.
My very first experience with trophy hunting was toxic. I was chatting with some guy over fb and shared with him when i got my first platinum four years ago, which was NieR automata and i was feeling good. His response was "so what, I got four." Yikes, what a lovely introduction to the community... Also, out of grudge.. Going for 70 now, choke on your 4 dude :'D
Just play what you like and dont care what other people think. As about life as a whole. Its better to just enjoy your life and dont care what other people think. Its just a waste of time and energy tbh.
The most toxic i've ever seen the community was when Wolfenstein 2 came out, all because of the Mein Leben trophy. It's alot better now as folks have moved on, but when that first emerged it was a bit of a hellscape.
I was watching this video on my TV and decided to pull up my laptop so I could tell you, as a fellow platinum hunter, your content inspires me to keep pushing myself! There is toxicity in every community but your content is always so positively skewed and is only negative to provide actual criticism of games. I love watching your videos and they push me to try getting harder Platinums, or just leave me impressed af that you committed to it! Thanks for everything you do!
I normally finish the game and just experience it as a whole before I look at the trophies anyway but I do enjoy going for platinums, as long as you are enjoying what you do, that's the main thing!
Most of my experiences come from boosting groups. I've had some groups that were great and supportive in and out of the games. We almost had like a therapy group at one point lol. On the other hand there's those players that leave once they get their trophy, or they troll others before they go. I've then seen arguments were gamers would criticise others based on the number of platinums they have and whether they have a life or not. The majority of people tho seem to be supportive despite the bad eggs here and there.
I love achievements and trophies and getting them I love the community writing guides helping people out and I met a lot of nice people in the community
One thing I hate are the people who have a superiority complex because they hunt Trophy and will just look down on people who hunt on other platform... when at the end of the day... they are basically the exact same thing
I see a lot of trophy hunting toxicity on facebook groups, people will share a game or a list thats actually decent and there will always be some weapon who just has to put the person down. In other communities though on discord for example ive met some great people trophy hunting
@@bullylowenthal2683 innit, like there will be some actually good lists that don't have shjovelware or any of that (which in my opinion isn't too bad as long as its balanced with real games) but they still get slated for no reason
To be fair 14:32 that was not a trophy hunting forum/Subreddit it was a general PS4 subreddit. The toxic people all flock to the you-tube comments. Trophy hunters are so nice compared to the other communities.
This is an interesting subject to think about because as someone who's been generally lurking around the trophy community for over a decade at this point I've actually observed an interesting trend away from the toxicity in recent years and I have 3 main ideas as to why (though of course toxicity still exists, it's just more clearly a minority now) 1) New wave of trophy hunters - Okay, so for this first one we have to go back, way back to when achievements and trophies first started and remember for the most part they had no real mainstream response, it was, without trying to sound a total ass... dominated by incel weirdos who's entire identity revolved around being a 'hardcore gamer', these achievements presented them an opportunity to now flex their feats with evidence. Slowly over time there has been some improvements in wider appeal but the big one was more recent, Covid... a LOT of people jumped into trophy hunting during Covid who were more casual and had lives beyond gaming prior to being locked indoors, this wave paired with the already gradual improvement in popularity naturally over the years begun to outnumber the old crowd. 2) Toxic circlejerk clubs - This leads on from the last a little bit. With a new audience seemingly outnumbering them, those who are those lil' toxic shitheads decided rather than post and get dunked on by masses of people (I see it on PSNP sometimes when someone tries to be obnoxiously toxic lol) they instead ran away to their own Discord groups etc. where their criteria to join requires you to basically be one of them, their own little echo chambers away from the 'normie casuals'. This means other sites can feel a little less toxic since all they've done is moved most their activity elsewhere. You still see them from time to time, but notable toxic members on these sites have really low recent post counts compared to days of old and yet they're still very clearly actively trophy hunting and have groups they're in to boost etc. The toxic comments are just mostly happening behind our backs I guess (does that make it better? lol, idk) 3) Content creators - Yeah, you're part of this too. Back in the day the only content trophy related were poorly researched click bait top 10 videos and trophy guides. As mentioned in number 1 with the kind of folk who generally went for trophies back in the day a lot of them lacked any real personality to even try making content. But, with a fair number of reasonably popular channels within this community acting as, I guess, role models for it nowadays does help to perpetuate a more positive overall community. It also opens the door for bad apples to get spotlighted in a way they hadn't before if they stepped too far out of line, you often see some folk cry how they are 'too afraid to say what they think' because 'sensitive woke-y crybabies' are going to come for them 😅 which translates to 'my toxic opinion is in the minority and I don't want to say it and see everyone disagree and call me out so I'll stay quiet and pretend I'm the silent majority'. Actually wait... 4) Maturing - Okay, so I had just thought of this too. This isn't going to be everyone but I guess I should give credit where it's due. Some people just grew up, stopped being toxic little weirdos and developed a more mature approach to being in this community. Some veterans of this scene have some cringe posts if you dig back far enough but today are considered positive pillars of the community. Guess that's worth acknowledging. Maybe I'm wrong, I haven't engaged or posted much inside the trophy community personally but I have sat back and watched for, like I mentioned, over a decade now. I've seen lots of faces come and go and think I've got a decent degree of observation done in those years. As for those who say the community is still mostly toxic, I think there's two main camps for that belief. The first being the ones who *are* the toxic ones 😅 toxicity breeds toxicity, they need to look in the mirror... and the second being those who probably felt bullied out by the toxicity a while back and haven't returned to see how things have improved. It's not perfect, there's bad apples a plenty but it's so much improved from what it once was.
Heres the sad thing about any hobby, dont interact with its fandom on the internet because its mostly a horrible environment, internet communities are home to the worst of the worst, I cant even classify them as trolls, they are just attention whores posting unfunny shit or cheap baits with the worst takes youve ever seen.
Yeah to be fair the trophy hunting community can be really toxic though. You see it all the time in facebook groups. People sharing their stuff getting bashed for it being too easy or when asking for help stating ooh get gud or skill issue. Or if you find a cheese way you're a not real hunter i mean wth. On the other side people hell bend on flexing and such. I mean i do it for fun and the memories i make doing them. But for me honestly the worst part is the online boosting community.. omg i can write books about everything that i have been through.. like a while back i wanted to save a lot of online trophies on PS3 & PS4 games with dead online's. And that was one of the most horrible experiences ever and really left a foul taste in my mouth about this community.. with people being straight up jerks and leaving you to hang when they got their trophies or people so bad at gaming you have to carry them through everything and bitch and complain the entire way and blaming you for not doing well. It's just so insane there are good people as well ofc, but i wil never boost a game again because of all the bad experiences i had..
I never thought to look at Facebook! I’ve seen a lot of arguements etc on discord in all servers. Don’t want to say anything negative about mine because for the most part it’s full of great people, But yeah all those little things really stir some people the real thing
@@PlatinumBro yeah i mean it is not all bad there are still good people as well even made some really good friends via the boosting and all. But i have had more negative experiences than good ones specially with the boosting stuff. I mean if you have friends that are into trophy hunting it's all fun & good. I mean i even bought 2 extra PS3 consoles and extra copies of said games that i wanted to do just to avoid dealing with people i think that say's enough 🤣 also boosting can be really tedious long and boring so cutting in time is always nice! My advice avoid boosting at all costs haha unless you have good people with you. But doing it via facebook or psnp it's always a 50/50 chance it goes well or horrible wrong!
I been screamed at for having my window open during bossting because one of them could hear bird's from my end I had a guy who would just blow up the vehicles we were getting repair ribbons on because he needed ribbons for destroying vehicle's without asking us if it was ok to do so in bad company 2 I wasn't there but two guy's in the group got into a fight because one guy wasn't listening and was just killing everyone calling each other " fat boy " "loser ' " you live in Mommy's basement " " the c word" for a good 10 minutes in the psn group chat for battlefield Hardline One guy left a whole big paragraph on how we didn't care about the server's going down and how we suck we are lazy etc and we can go to f our self's because people wouldn't drop whatever they were doing and join him in a lobby ( this is the same Hardline group btw)
@@cassiebarber4669 jupp that sounds all very familiar to me sadly.. the worst part is i try to genuinely not boost online trophies unless i don't have any other options. And these people boast about how they're all so good at trophy hunting and gaming whilst they only boost. I was in this group for a long time and most of them were like that. There was even one guy that didn't even plat he's games. Just boosting boosting boosting and then bragged about it like it was a big achievement. I mean all you did was spending hours doing idk what boring crap. I also helped that guy doing far cry 5 the co-op stuff which should take about like idk maybe an hour. I already had the trophies and it wasn't that hard.. Man he was so useless couldn't shoot and couldn't drive even if he's life depended on it. It took us 6 hours because i had to carry him through everything on my own whilst he was taking the piss at me if we died and failed. Yeah my patience was tested that day. But he still boasts about it like he is the most amazing gamer ever. Like every boost with him is just pure pain for everyone else involved. I just don't get people like that for real.
Great Video. I would tend to agree with your findings. On the whole most people are positive and supportive. Where I have seen the odd negative comment is usually on the platinum difficulty thread on the PlayStation trophies website. If someone mentions that they found a game to be difficult then there will normally be someone who responds by saying how easy the game is. Some people just can’t help themselves. Have you decided on whether the platinum podcast will be returning?
I recently gave up trophy hunting due it just not really being as fun as it used to, i wish i stayed oblivious to sites like psnp tbh lol. Im now trying to stream and make videos but we'll see where stuff goes hah
I loved achievements and trophies for years and even now still have a go at a plat in a game I love but I really have missed out on so many good games because of my obsession for trophies and achievements. Playing all these amazing Nintendo games thinking why have I waited so long haha
@@PlatinumBro like I stopped playing Nintendo games/consoles because there’s no trophies or achievements lol. Are you able to start a game without considering the platinum difficulty?
It's generally a cool community! :) I've really only had a few people get weirdly upset at my list for the decent amount of 90%+ in it, and tell me how much more pretty/impressive it could be if I "finished" more of them! But I only unlock a trophy if I find it enjoyable lol, and imo anything permadeath or heavily pvp oriented isn't that
Same here! To many people's seems frustrated or even disgusted at looking at my 80-90 completions of certain games. If i don't wanna finish it or can't, it's my choice for a reason or another haha
Random thing I'm looking for a person to help me on my platinum journey that i just started because I only have 7. I need advice and helpful tips and easy games
I’ve seen and heard a ton of toxicity especially towards gamers that play “easy” games. Never understood the hate…. Just let people play what they want with their money, time, and profile.
Havent seen too much toxicity in the trophy hunting community. Nothing like competitive games that are just salt mines. Maybe a bit of people arguing over shovelware. Dont even see too many of the git gud folks in the community. Mostly people looking to share their enjoyment of games. People are usually even positive when someone is struggling with burnout or motivation.
I love The End Is Nigh but the cartridges just suck the fun out of getting the achievments. I'm not trying to beat 40 levels without dying, i just want to stop caring about it
I don't know that some of these were toxic...some amount of what you showed were just disagreements. Like I don't think disagreeing with someone about difficulty means they think they are full of themselves or "elite" or whatever else. If there are exploits/helpful cheat items, that can really change how the difficulty is perceived. The current PSNP MGS guide even shows its a 5.
In all the years of being a trophy hunter, toxicity has been an extremely low percentage. The worst ones I have seen, are the ones that boost trophies, get what they need, then bail on the rest of the group who just helped them instead of helping them in return.
Personally really sick of the amount of easy Platinum shovelware on the PS Store. Awful AI pictures and everything- just cluttering the store and making it feel like the deep depths of the Play Store. Makes it difficult to find the stuff actually worth our attention. Atleast give us the option to hide certain games or publishers if you aren't going to put the effort into quality control yourself.
Most the toxicity is definitely towards people that play for leaderboard, just because of the hot topic of shovelware. I personally don't boast to people how many platinums i have, but i really enjoy the concept of playing for leaderboard, it's a lot of fun, but what you have to play for leaderboard is dictated by the games sony approves to be on the store. You should not shame the hunter, shame sony and the shitty devs for letting their low effort unity asset swaps on the store. To stop playing games like that, is to take away a part of trophy hunting they enjoy to do, you're not gonna collectively get people to "stop buying the games" when some have spent a decade playing for leaderboards, and now you're asking them to just drop everything they worked towards over all their years because Sony's QAT stopped caring about any quality on the store. Completely understand the arguments about people that boast those platinum counts, but i don't like when people boast excessively in general
Im only at 3 lol (hogwarts, wukong, ghost of tsushima) i started a few months ago, soon i will get 4 more cause im grinding ac mirage, odyssey, origins and valhalla at the sime time, cleaning up before ac shadows comes out
Also more positive than i thought! I think guide writers have it the worse, even myself say I'm playing a 2/10 and the 1st second i hit adversity im cursing that guide writer internally calling him a liar, but at least i don't externally express it. lol
Yeah they definitely do. Put yourself out there and you’ll always be criticised. I’ve been quite critical of guide writers when playing games tbf But they all seems to suffer from under rating the difficulty of games hahaha
for me personally, I dont care what people do, at the end, i still get the platinum trophy, if anything the toxic hunters are RUSHING while im enjoying the game.
I feel like the majority of toxicity in the trophy hunting community is from non-trophy hunters. People are enjoying a thing that they don't understand, and instead of trying to, they just shut on it.😢
Yeah I see plenty of that. It’s always ‘I don’t understand why people do X about trophies’ It’s like brah - you’re basically saying you’re too stupid to understand that someone else has motivations different to your own. It always cracks me up because of how stupid it makes them look 😂
Like…. I don’t even have any friends that care about plats that I can talk about it or compare with… do why do I do it…. What does it mean in the end.:..
There are alot of annoying things about the community but i just stick to getting the plat in what i like. 🗣️ My ONLY pet peeve is when i across someone’s account on PlayStation and i see they have significantly more GOLD trophies than silver trophies, because I immediately know all their platinums is just those garbage cash grab games in the ps store🤮. Even worse when they buy that trash across numerous regions for even more platinums. Those cashgrab games overshadow all the real games you’ve played, just not worth it imo 👎👎
I get the insulting and whatnot but I'm struggling to understand the rest. How is player A saying a game is difficult and Player B saying it isn't, toxic? Why is disagreeing with general opinion toxic? Seems like nothing more than trying to silence or belittle minority opinions. Perhaps that's the true toxicity in the trophy community.
I think you’re over simplifying it Crow. I think it just depends on why the person has said it. Nothing wrong with healthy discussion of course but when it’s from a point of superiority that’s when I am not a fan of it
People just want a reaction man. I feel like some people need an ego just to act “cool”. There’s others tho that just do it to troll just so you’ll get aggravated or upset. It’s why I stay away from multiplayer games now especially the battle royale modes. They’ve always gotta brag or say something to put the other casual players down. I still enjoy multiplayer games from time to time but as I get older the less I wanna get on those type of games and deal with people lol
Personally I don’t really keep up or read online forums beside for trophy guide (although I tried to do it on my own first). Only got 10 so far but I am proud for all of them, have platinumed cyberpunk 2077 and the Witcher 3 including DLC :) P.s almost done with my 11 platinum, Hogwarts Legacy :)
This isn't related, but what are your thoughts on the PS Plus Essential games for this month, Ender Lilies and FNAF Security Breach? I am thinking about trying to get the platinum for both, what is your opinion on the platinum difficulty for both?
Bro i tried to platinum Wolfenstein 2 and i just can't do it on the hardest difficulty try fail i try fail and one day i just saud F-it and i just deleted the game good thing it thet sometimes if you don't enjoy a game just pass it don't make yourself suffer for an unlimited time like i did and the first platinum i after almost 200 wasted hours was Deadpool 😂 Nice video👍
You should see the toxicity we sometimes get writing guides, the amount of complains I, as an OG trophy hunter, get for rating games what they consider too low is kind of absurd
Oh I can only imagine. I bet it’s mainly just the difficulty and time to complete right? It’s a hard one because I would honestly say most guises on psnp heavily underestimate the difficulty of the games. But it doesn’t mean the writer should be exposed to hate of any kind
I don't think it's toxic. All I see is people getting roasted for 1 min plats. I think if you have to scroll through the forums looking for toxic comments proves its not that toxic. Even if it was don't take it seriously, trophy hunting is a personal hobby.
Yeah I have 7 Plats and the number is growing got my first PlayStation last Christmas and I’ve just been doing my own thing Final fantasy 16 The Witcher 3 Sifu Astros playroom Spider man 2(First platinum) The last of us 1 Ghost of Tsushima I just do my own thing can’t really focus on the fandom 😂😂😂
@@PlatinumBro yeah for sure, just plat the games u enjoy If u wanna open a guide do that and have fun that’s it, people think it’s a competition for the most plats but forget that trophy hunting is to 100% a game u enjoyed
If you can’t plat Dark Souls blindfolded with a DDR dance pad you aren’t a true trophy hunter. I have been a subscriber (the last few years) of play what you love, plat if you want. Some games honestly don’t deserve the honor of being platted. Others deserve the good college try. Now do I practice what I preach? Nope, I still prefer to play games I know I can plat versus ramming my member into the titanium wall that is W:TNC.
Hahahaha if you can’t do guitar hero with one hand on a controller you aren’t a real trophy hunter I’m trying my best to follow that idea too but just like you, it can be hard to actually follow
I agree. Competition attracts toxicity at a certain level. Some people need the «I am better than you» energy. I don’t react to comments like: «I did it first try!» I don’t know what to say. I don’t want to stroke someone’s ego. Also, it is so easy to state something without proof. Everything is presented as facts. I am sick and tired of that. I personally haven’t been exposed to much toxicity. But I guess, I stay away from competion. The bigger a group of people become, the more likely it is to meet a toxic person. And I agree with the statement, that guides are harder, when played for the first time. I always add 10 to 20% of time, because I don’t want to stress or sometimes it is a skill issue. I am kinda happy, that you didn’t found much toxcity. In fact, toxicity is a overused word. Yes, the internet has become more extreme, because communication got shorter and quicker, more instant. I love these meta topic discussion videos. But to prove your point. There is always this one comment. Wait for it: Not using Dark Mode for Reddit and UA-cam was kinda hard to watch. K, thx, bye.
So if you just play games for fun first then look at a trophy list after you won’t have the platinum in the back of your head while enjoying the reason we play games.
So many Great games i refuse becuz to much job, or to hard,
Ain’t no way bro made a 17 minute video to justify his doom scrolling of psnp forums rather than touching grass
Guess the toxicity was in the comments here all along 😂
Ur definitely one of those post users 😂
@qopiqq3629 who's toxic?
That addiction post was already written by me.
@@qopiqq3629 brother it’s a meme, I do this every video
Toxic things i've heard when talking about platinums:
- I wish i had this much time to play.
- I don't see the point in trophies, you're just wasting your time.
- You used a money glitch? You can't count that.
- Using a guide is easy.
- You need help with a online trophy? Let's just play the game, i don't care about trophies
Bonus: The guy who says that don't have the time to "waste" on platinum trophies, has 3000h on League of Legends
@@LuisMicrute And trophy platform dwellers always try to report you to try and get your account frozen and get knocked down the leaderboard
I have seen them so many times
Facts on the second one my friends say that
I hate people who ask for boosting help in online games. Ruin lobbies and you shouldn't go for trophies in games you don't plan to get good at.
I had people flexing to me about their platinum numbers, only for 80% of those to be 1 min plats
Yeah that happens wayyyy too much
Side note - I have more plats than you 🤣
@@PlatinumBro nooo someone has more than me now my day is ruined

Flexing about the amount of platinums today means absolutely nothing. Thanks to the thousands of shovelwares lol.
I prefer to look at the amounts of Ultra Rare trophies on psnp, you can't cheese that atleast lol. And it's much more impressive when you have a lot.
@Kulzyc number 1 guy David has a ton of ultra rares. Best profile imo.
I gotten 1, 8 out of 10 difficulty a platinum (Devil May Cry 5) and I been riding the high. I have not done anything past 6/10 difficulty since then LOL. You all should enjoy the games you want to enjoy.
true congrats on the dmc5 plat tho very impressive
@@jpw6017 thank you so much! 😁
Great comment my guy
Well said
I platinumed demons souls, all 3 Dark Souls and Bloodborne...
Nice profile pic
@@demosneokleous4877 Thank you!
" not a hard platnum"
Ah yes because real trophy hunter's do only hard games that are 10/10 difficulty
( Sarcasm)
@@PlatinumBro True
I've personally never seen toxicity in any fellow trophy hunter I've interacted with, that's not to say there aren't bad eggs in every group. But honestly, if anyone wants to be a jerk, just block them and move on. No one needs to deal with some unreasonable asshole in their hobbies and gaming is one hobby were we can easily block people from every interacting with us.
I love sitting back and listen to you talk. I don't have time to spend playing video games all day now that I'm 28 years old but listening to you talk just for 20 minutes while gaming in those brief periods is kinda nice. Thanks for being you. :)
Oh man that’s so kind and I’m so glad you enjoy listening to me waffle on ❤️
I find the difficulty hate comments so weird.
Ye i agree, difficulty is completely subjective so I've never understood the whole "i found that game so easy how did you struggle with it"
So true. I am bad at games and find anything over a 3/10 difficult. I don't feel the need to curse the writer of the guide, but I still try😅
Hahahah so many people would do this.
I also imagine if you were to write a guide, you’re not gonna put the game as a 5/10 because you are very experienced in that game genre where as a lot of guide writers do
Dumb people saying dumb things - that’s my attempt at understanding it
@@PlatinumBro I think that would be one of the hardest part of writing a guide for me would be giving it a difficulty rating, I’d overthink it 😂
It can be so toxic. However, it can sometimes drive you to go for tougher platinums. For example I am now only a couple trophies away from platinuming cuphead.
But play the games you want, Ignore completion percentage and remember to stop when it is no longer fun!
Yeah cuphead go get it brother

That wasn't posted by anyone. That was quoted from the OP who was making an FAQ explaining why he did the whole post.
I agree 🫡
I believe where there is toxicity you will find over inflated egos. It normally stems around particular people either thinking or wanting to portray that they are so much better than the average gamer. For these people it's most likely not just gaming that they do this with. For the most part I would say that the trophy hunting community are supportive of each other but like with everything, there's normally a few bad apples. I would go as far as to say these bad apples are likely not as good or confident as they portray and some are just trolling.
They do go hand in hand don't they?
100%
It’s interesting when you realise that ego protects the sense of self and most ego driven comments and actions etc all just comes from a place of low self esteem
I could not agree more… best comment on this video!!!
I think for the most part, the community is awesome and helpful! I genuinely think most people are super supportive but there will always be people in the comments saying skill issue etc lmao.
I do have vivid memories of going through forums on PsnP and reading peoples arguments, it's always a fun time lol. I'm honestly surprised with how little toxicity you found in there :)
Anyway good vid PlatBro!
Yeah I agree it’s mostly positive.
Honestly I’m shocked too I was expecting to it to absolutely horrific hahaha
Yeah that’s actually so nice of the person to say that
There goes 17 minutes I'll never get back. 😢
Sad times
Good video as alway's. I just hope you never stop talking about trophies, you are entertaining haha
Thanks man! That means the world to me :)
These comments aren't an 8/10 toxicity, they're only a 3/10. It doesn't take 17m10s to read them, it only took me 3m5s. Are you new to forums?
I was reading and talking about them hahaha so that’s why it took longer.
‘It took you 17 minutes to read this? It only took me 3 mins.’
Hahaha a literal example of toxicity that I gave in this video.
I’ve got 3 degrees brah. MSc & 2 BScs but yeah, you’re a better reader and smarter than me 🫡
@@PlatinumBro 3 degrees and 0 common sense. It was an obvious joke.
I have never really platinum'd a game. For most part I just play a game just to enjoy myself without being stressed for trophy hunting and making myself feel miserable in the process. I feel like that some people just love to boast messed up ego for most part when it comes to platinum flexing. Which I find very funny for most part lol.
I’m doing that rn and it’s 100% the best way :)
From my experience, most people on PSNP are really positive, but there are topics that tend to start negative discussions. A few examples are:
- Any time shovelware games are brought up
I have seen a lot of discussions between people defending their shovelware plats and elitists looking down on them. There are usually a lot of nasty comments from both sides of the argument. Sometimes the discussion extends to easy games in general. Sometimes it's a discussion if (and how) the leaderboards should be changed to exclude easy/fast plats.
- When the DLC of an AAA title releases without trophies
I have seen multiple cases where people were really excited about a DLC but suddenly lost interest when it became apparent that it wouldn't add new trophies.
- A game unexpectedly adds trophies years after it launched
It doesn't happen as often as the other topics, but I have witnessed some nasty discussions when a game suddenly released new DLC trophies and people complained about needing to come back to a game to earn the new trophies.
Which ubisoft didn't do for AC Mirage none of you guys were praising that
Couldn’t agree more dude, it’s one of the main negatives I have towards trophies now. Spending 20 hours doing ‘busy’ work is just not worth it to me anymore
Very true
Well said Haxs, well said indeed
I appreciate the sentiment of this vid, but the example you used of the Avengers guide that someone wrote, the first reply saying "Why did you write this" was quote replying the original post, and reply to it saying "Information is always good" and went on to thank them for writing such an in depth guide!
Oh I must have missed that. Awwww at least it actually was a positive message though!
I actually saw the difficulty thing on RetroAchievements and its in my RA video lmao.

Pahahahahaha some people man
I think its funny how some 30 year olds still living in their parents basements brag about how fast or better they do things in video games.
100% agree dude
As someone who recently started trophy hunting after getting a new ps, platnium hunting is addicting, i even joined a few forums for help with the god awful multiplayer trophies, and i can honestly say most of the people i meet are just straight on egomaniacs, i met a guy who bragged about platniuming all the dark souls games... like okay bro. Good stuff but did i ask?
I have experienced the same stuff haha
I don't understand people who go for 5 minute platinums and then duplicate them just to get more Platinums. But another thing is that there are people who have others get the Platinum for them. Like ...why??
(I know someone on my PSN friend list who has 350 platinums, and i looked at his trophies, and he earned two platinums at the same exact time {time and date}. I asked him about it, and refuses to respond. I even asked beforehand what his hardest platinum was, and his response was an ambiguous "they're all hard".

I'm beginning to believe this guy is a fraud.
Lol I mean this is a kinda toxic comment dude Ngl

@@PlatinumBro I'm sorry if it seems if I'm coming off as being "toxic", but I also can't apologize for how I feel about the matter. These people are basically cheating just to get trophies, and that in itself is a "toxic" behavior, and makes absolutely zero sense.

I think most of the toxic players I have met have not been via forums, it has been in games that have mics or chat like Overwatch and Among Us
Yeah I agree. Competitive multiplayer is by far the worst
Yeah that was my experience until this video tbf
@PlatinumBro I was on the Guacamelee sub forum the other day (as I'm just short of the 100%) and someone was asking how difficult it is for someone who isn't good at platformers. There was obviously a person there talking about how it isn't hard at all and doesn't deserve the 6/10 rating. Like, shut up dude.
My very first experience with trophy hunting was toxic. I was chatting with some guy over fb and shared with him when i got my first platinum four years ago, which was NieR automata and i was feeling good. His response was "so what, I got four."
Yikes, what a lovely introduction to the community...
Also, out of grudge..
Going for 70 now, choke on your 4 dude :'D
You probably used the trophy shop instead of getting them legit I bet.
It’s just a number to add up to a bigger number to add up to a bigger number to add up to a bigger number. How do people even attempt to flex lol
You’d be surprised
Just play what you like and dont care what other people think. As about life as a whole. Its better to just enjoy your life and dont care what other people think. Its just a waste of time and energy tbh.
Couldn’t agree more weswick (Chadwick+Wes)
What a comment to wake up to! Thanks that means a lot to me. I’m glad I’ve been able to inspire you in some small way buddy 😃
I love your vids man don’t give up trophy hunting you do it great toxic people will always there

I've been in those one on Facebook or they always just complain about everything
@@bullylowenthal2683 innit, like there will be some actually good lists that don't have shjovelware or any of that (which in my opinion isn't too bad as long as its balanced with real games) but they still get slated for no reason
Hahaha some weapon
don't worry what other people think if U R happy with you'r trophy list that's all that matters
GuyFarruski made fun of me for platinuming DMC 2. He gave me -20 points when he reviewed my trophy list
He should have given you -30 tbf
@@PlatinumBro wow even you are bullying me
To be fair 14:32 that was not a trophy hunting forum/Subreddit it was a general PS4 subreddit. The toxic people all flock to the you-tube comments. Trophy hunters are so nice compared to the other communities.
There is a lot in the UA-cam comments Ngl ha
This is an interesting subject to think about because as someone who's been generally lurking around the trophy community for over a decade at this point I've actually observed an interesting trend away from the toxicity in recent years and I have 3 main ideas as to why (though of course toxicity still exists, it's just more clearly a minority now)
1) New wave of trophy hunters - Okay, so for this first one we have to go back, way back to when achievements and trophies first started and remember for the most part they had no real mainstream response, it was, without trying to sound a total ass... dominated by incel weirdos who's entire identity revolved around being a 'hardcore gamer', these achievements presented them an opportunity to now flex their feats with evidence.
The toxic comments are just mostly happening behind our backs I guess (does that make it better? lol, idk)
3) Content creators - Yeah, you're part of this too.
Very very true I don’t think a hobby exists where the hardcore fans/ hobbyists aren’t elitist
Don’t want to say anything negative about mine because for the most part it’s full of great people,
But yeah all those little things really stir some people the real thing
I been screamed at for having my window open during bossting because one of them could hear bird's from my end
I had a guy who would just blow up the vehicles we were getting repair ribbons on because he needed ribbons for destroying vehicle's without asking us if it was ok to do so in bad company 2
I wasn't there but two guy's in the group got into a fight because one guy wasn't listening and was just killing everyone calling each other " fat boy " "loser ' " you live in Mommy's basement " " the c word" for a good 10 minutes in the psn group chat for battlefield Hardline
One guy left a whole big paragraph on how we didn't care about the server's going down and how we suck we are lazy etc and we can go to f our self's because people wouldn't drop whatever they were doing and join him in a lobby ( this is the same Hardline group btw)
I think I definitely see more negativity than most so I tried to not be too biased.
And yes it’s returning :)
I recently gave up trophy hunting due it just not really being as fun as it used to, i wish i stayed oblivious to sites like psnp tbh lol. Im now trying to stream and make videos but we'll see where stuff goes hah
I totally relate dude I’m taking a break from it
@@PlatinumBro 🤝
I loved achievements and trophies for years and even now still have a go at a plat in a game I love but I really have missed out on so many good games because of my obsession for trophies and achievements. Playing all these amazing Nintendo games thinking why have I waited so long haha
I can relate dude
Platinum sickness is inescapable for me…. I wasn’t always like this
There is an escape brother. You’ve gotta look for it
@@PlatinumBro like I stopped playing Nintendo games/consoles because there’s no trophies or achievements lol. Are you able to start a game without considering the platinum difficulty?

Pahahaha I wish ❤️
Cosplay as Ken and get some Barbie platinums for content, your channel has been building up to this for years
this is so true bro
It's generally a cool community! :) I've really only had a few people get weirdly upset at my list for the decent amount of 90%+ in it, and tell me how much more pretty/impressive it could be if I "finished" more of them! But I only unlock a trophy if I find it enjoyable lol, and imo anything permadeath or heavily pvp oriented isn't that
Same here! To many people's seems frustrated or even disgusted at looking at my 80-90 completions of certain games. If i don't wanna finish it or can't, it's my choice for a reason or another haha
Random thing
I'm looking for a person to help me on my platinum journey that i just started because I only have 7. I need advice and helpful tips and easy games
I’ve seen and heard a ton of toxicity especially towards gamers that play “easy” games. Never understood the hate…. Just let people play what they want with their money, time, and profile.
Well said
Havent seen too much toxicity in the trophy hunting community. Nothing like competitive games that are just salt mines. Maybe a bit of people arguing over shovelware. Dont even see too many of the git gud folks in the community. Mostly people looking to share their enjoyment of games. People are usually even positive when someone is struggling with burnout or motivation.
I’ve been playing MOBAs for the past few months and it has really opened my eyes to how friendly the trophy hunting community is
I love The End Is Nigh but the cartridges just suck the fun out of getting the achievments.
Oh yeah that’s proper grim
My opinion: I’d Rather see 10 cod plats then 300 one minute plats.
I agree man, hate the game not the player
You a legend brother! It’s so sad when people criticize others for the games they play. It’s a hobby…. Let people play what they want.
Im only at 3 lol (hogwarts, wukong, ghost of tsushima) i started a few months ago, soon i will get 4 more cause im grinding ac mirage, odyssey, origins and valhalla at the sime time, cleaning up before ac shadows comes out
god speed bro
Also more positive than i thought! I think guide writers have it the worse, even myself say I'm playing a 2/10 and the 1st second i hit adversity im cursing that guide writer internally calling him a liar, but at least i don't externally express it. lol
Yeah they definitely do. Put yourself out there and you’ll always be criticised. I’ve been quite critical of guide writers when playing games tbf
But they all seems to suffer from under rating the difficulty of games hahaha
for me personally, I dont care what people do, at the end, i still get the platinum trophy, if anything the toxic hunters are RUSHING while im enjoying the game.
Yeah best way man. Let everyone else worry about everyone else
I feel like the majority of toxicity in the trophy hunting community is from non-trophy hunters. People are enjoying a thing that they don't understand, and instead of trying to, they just shut on it.😢
Yeah I see plenty of that.
It’s always ‘I don’t understand why people do X about trophies’
It’s like brah - you’re basically saying you’re too stupid to understand that someone else has motivations different to your own. It always cracks me up because of how stupid it makes them look 😂
InvisibleBanana is my old account. I feel called out. 😂
Pahahahaha
You gotta try TFD bro. It's easy platinum, but there are some buggy ones.
Like…. I don’t even have any friends that care about plats that I can talk about it or compare with… do why do I do it…. What does it mean in the end.:..
Only you know the answer to that
But if it feels meaningless, than it probably is
Someone is being toxic if they don't agree that a game is good? Lol. "I want your opinions, but only if you agree with me." People 🙄
modern day sadly
@@PlatinumBro but you're the one who called it toxic. The comment is about what you said lmao.
Nothing wrong with healthy discussion of course but when it’s from a point of superiority that’s when I am not a fan of it
@@PlatinumBro Appreciate the clarification. That makes far more sense.

@@PlatinumBro yeah it’s usually those or the occasional person that runs into a bug that nobody else had lol

@@PlatinumBro yeah for sure, just plat the games u enjoy
If u wanna open a guide do that and have fun that’s it, people think it’s a competition for the most plats but forget that trophy hunting is to 100% a game u enjoyed
Hahahaha if you can’t do guitar hero with one hand on a controller you aren’t a real trophy hunter
I’m trying my best to follow that idea too but just like you, it can be hard to actually follow
If everyone is an incel, nobody is
So true
