Not sure if you've heard it later or off stream, but the dragon specialists _do_ have ambient dialogue. The sylvari talks shit about you putting them out of the job and then the ogre points out that you're right over there and can hear her. So then she says something like "boy the elder dragons were horrible. I sure am glad the commander killed them!" And the ogre just says "believable...". That's also the context for why she talks like she's very nervous when you talk to her lol.
Whoever that friend is that you miss and haven't talked to in a while, what's stopping you from sending a message to check in? If there's not a good reason, shoot him a "hey, how have you been?" You've got nothing to lose but a friend by reaching out! Very relatable situation for anyone with an online friends list. Whenever I think of a friend I haven't seen or talked to in a bit, I send a message. 9 times out of 10, we get a conversation going and sometimes it even ends up with us gaming together or streaming a movie.
1:20:00 I just want you to know that this notion, whether it turns out to be true or not, gave me an overwhelming sense of comfort. That'd be the dream. I'd LOVE to be playing the same two mmos (gw2 and ffxiv) and watching your videos 10, 20, 30 years from now.
1:58:55 - Dunno if this is said later in the vod; theres a kid in Desert Highlands (by the springer ranch) that says "I just wanna play basket-brawl!" and he's gotten his basketball stuck in a tree. You can use a springer to help him get it out.
It kind of hurts watching you get your daily obby shard provisioner token and then immediately salvaging the storm's eye weapons lol. The ectos from salvaging are nice, but you can also trade them in for 5 provisioner tokens each at the faction provisioners in the archipelago + amnytas. Just "unlock skin" on the item to account bind it and progress the collection, and sell it to the vendor. They only take one per day though, and some will accept 3 or 4 different weapons, so youd have to do it over the course of a couple days
48:47 Amnythas was moved to the Horn of Maguuma, apparently they were above the isles of janthir before this but moved as they considered the horn a more safer place in general.
Even I was like "I don't remember anything called basket brawl", but it is real! It was in game for 2 weeks in late August 2016, and there's footage of it on youtube too! So interesting, I have no idea how I missed it
Only 37 minutes of Dragon cyle ranting; you're getting old WP, however my disappointment has been quelled. Excited to see you stuck in the library in the Bastion of Knowledge for the whole of next stream
Oh, boy. When you start the rant about Isgarren being moments from helping all those times (around 1:07:10)... all I could hear in my head was a remix of Because I Got High, by Afroman. 🎶Isgarren was gonna do that helpful thing... but then he got hiiiigh.... doot doot dooooot....🎶
1:18:40 I feel that is exactly the reason why so few MMOs get made (other than the obvious reason of cost) The existing MMOs aren't going anywhere, and its extremely difficult to get their established playerbase to change to or be interested in a new one. I've played WoW during the vanilla - wotlk era and even back then people were saying "ded gaem" and look where we are now - even with the massive amounts of screw ups Blizzard did the game is still alive and trucking along. The same goes for every other MMO - heck FF11, the predecessor to ff14, is still alive, hell even Everquest 2 AND ultima online, the granddaddy, are still around. The only time it truely dies is if the company decides to pull the plug - which happened with a number of them (city of heroes, Star wars: galaxies, wildstar, etc)
Is there anywhere I can watch parts 4 through 8 that are missing on this playlist? Been really enjoying this playthrough a bunch, and would like to not miss em' :(
Since I have been deep into BG3 this past month as well, I keep thinking -- wouldn't it be neat to see GW1 remade in a similar style? With lots of rewriting, I think the setting and characters have a lot of storytelling value. I just imagine making my hero character and picking Mhenlo and Cynn and Devona or something as my party and getting to listen to their banter. Rurik as that NPC you're reloading saves to see if you can save with a different choice or dialogue option, etc. Not sure if it could really work, but I love the concept. Not that I'll ever get to see something similar anyway.
I would say a custom mod campaign for bg3 would be able to do this! But then they forbid certain stuff like that, I think, due to the IP or license or something.
That Asahi cutscene was hilarious on my tall female Roegadyn, he completely loses it but I’m towering 2-3 heads over him and just not threatened. Probably going to feel similar if you rewatch the cutscene as new Maechen.
That anomaly event is fascinating - Patiha has dialogue here. Im not overally sure what it all means though. Mayb some stuff connected the anomalies / shadowstone etc.
I'm really enjoying the playthrough WP, can't wait for the next video! If I may offer a suggestion though, having Lys constantly saying her one-liners can be quite distracting, for example around this mark 1:34:06 and 1:34:46 we have Lys, the NPC and yourself all talking at the same time. Maybe it's just me but it gets kind of messy. Not to mention how repetitive the one-liners are unfortunately. It can distract from the interesting lore discussions a bit.
Statistical speaking there is probably atleast one person in a home who watches your videos. There's an over 60's guild that was advertising in NA around IBS.
1:17:00 i find it interesting you mentioned the heart of grenth in one of your videos before SOTO. i guess it could be related. Im thinking the Heart of the Obscure is related to Waiting Sorrow (a kodan), whilst Heart of Grenth related to Grenth. Both of these are about Judgement
The whole implication that Soo Won could have had companions that were around for tens of thousands of years but chose not to... is strange. If anything they couldve figured out a way to siphon her magic centuries before Joon wouldnt allowing the ravaging dragon cycle still be giving into the void ? lol
Noooooooooo! All the storms eye weapons can be traded for 5 provisioner tokens each after unlocking them! Same with the stormforged, dont salvage the stormforged when you get them.
Honestly, if the assets are reused in a way that’s cool and not just copy paste, then I’m totally ok with it. Skywatch has got to be one of my favorite maps so far.
since you were in heart of the mists at the beginning, i figured i'd ask if you plan to do monthly PvP tournaments? 🤔 i think winning and obtaining one of the monthly gizmos would be amazing, but i realize it's probably a shot in the dark😅
I think the thing with Soo-Won was that she could try as hard as she wanted, but there was nothing she could do against the void or to alter the cycle. I believe it implies that she had tried to help out in the past and was helping this time, but at all other points she was either asleep, corrupted, or powerless to do anything. In between cycles, she would be asleep, and during the dragon's consumption of magic, she would probably spend most of her time trying to fight the corruption or else being corrupted herself until she could sleep and recover.

Im enjoying this walkthrough a lot. Doing some crafting or chill wvw, while listening to your lore talks is very fun

'the rampage of jormag and primordus could have been so much worse' we wanted it to be 😭

There's the kid at the Springer ranch in PoF who is desperate to get her basket brawl out of a tree, that's where I know it from
If headphones are too hot you could try earbuds instead and if you like that you could get some nice quality ones.

I'm like 99% sure those 2 new endless combat tonics will be drops from the SoTO CM strikes coming in the near future
WP The wizards tower is not only the island, its layed out like the donkey wheel =]

1:03:40 not sure how well it fits but i propose the idea they were there during kralk's rampage and managed to salvage the obsidian armour
Statistical speaking there is probably atleast one person in a home who watches your videos. There's an over 60's guild that was advertising in NA around IBS.
It hurt so hard to watch you salvage the Storm weapons. You could unlock the skin and trade each one for 5 Provisioner Tokens each...

wouldnt allowing the ravaging dragon cycle still be giving into the void ? lol
54:23 I agree but didn't we witness Aurene cleanse the brand or am I forgetting something?
we never see her do it but we see purified brand in grothmar
"i have a spread sheet!" xDDD love it
Love you WP but there is no way that like 90% of the playerbase knows about Menzies.
Yeah I don't even think 90%of the playerbase could name all 6 gods lol, let alone the half brother of one that doesn't really get any mention in gw2.
Menzies nutz!
relic of vass actually sounds good for my mirage who has scavenger runes. 20% longer poison duration.
22:27 "4 seconds faster". I think you'll find his time is a whole MINUTE and 4 seconds faster. Jfc Bootts is getting too good at this stuff lol.
Noooooooooo! All the storms eye weapons can be traded for 5 provisioner tokens each after unlocking them! Same with the stormforged, dont salvage the stormforged when you get them.

The reason why the bastions are so close together is probably just that they couldn't make the map too much bigger?
since you were in heart of the mists at the beginning, i figured i'd ask if you plan to do monthly PvP tournaments? 🤔
i think winning and obtaining one of the monthly gizmos would be amazing, but i realize it's probably a shot in the dark😅
Whisper me in game
When was the last time GW2 actually mentioned Menzies?
Cause ngl it has to have been a while back right.
fates are rifts basically nothing else
I'm away from the game...is basketbrawl in the retired achievements section?
I think the thing with Soo-Won was that she could try as hard as she wanted, but there was nothing she could do against the void or to alter the cycle.

Basket Brawl was in the game. I remember playing it once. It was kinda mid.
“Petty steam review” this doesn’t narrow it down at all!
