Switched up my technique and started chambering first before any tennon work. Helped with keeping the bore aligned. Highly recommend investing in iscar thread inserts, mirror finish on threads without any oil @ 180 rpm. Your a man of tools like I am, I invested into my own airgauge tool for sorting barrels. Surprising results found even with the best manufacturers. This tool allowed me to also find the taper of the bore made by Air Gauging LLC.
That’s awesome Kenny!
Super nice work, I look forward to following your load development.
Man that looks like a awesome build! We need to get some APW Raptors on those rifles!
Thanks Piet- and what about Warbird???
@@Ultimatereloader solvent collector addition? 😂

Sweet build brother! I'm definitely in interested in getting my hands one one! You bring the info we would otherwise have access to, so thank you!!
Excellent video Gavin! I love learning about other gunsmiths setups and seeing all the little tips and tricks that I use and some that I don't. Very jealous of the new lathe! Looks awesome 👌
Excellent work as usual, love the foundation stock, beautiful color.
Awesome build mate, and I think your setup and procedures are top notch.
Beautiful work, but way beyond my Bush Beer budget, if I hit the loto I'll be calling you.
Very nice Gavin!
Absolutely Beautiful and Awesome build!!!! I would love one!!!
Beautiful rifle Gavin...superb craftsmanship and gunsmith skills...well done
Thats one sweet rifle. Truly inspiring watching these detailed series. Excellent craftsmanship
I'm so impressed with your videos, professionalism and dedication to what you do. Living in Oz, I'm also envious of the opportunity some US locals have to your excellent output.
Cheers Scott
Outstanding well done! Your Bat action video got my attention, i would love to own one of these.
That is a beautiful rifle. Berger Elite Hunter 140 Grain is a fantastic projectile. My Christensen Ridgeline after break-in shot a 0.17 MOA 4-shot group with the Berger EH 140 / Lapua Brass / H4350. Sweet stuff when your rifle works the way you hope it will... Keep up the amazing builds...😀
I really like your setup, and I appreciate that you share your knowledge. I’m finishing up my certificate with SDI, building and accurizing precision rifles is what I want to do when I retire from the Army.
Awesome Jason- I’ll be formally working with SDI here shortly!
You are the man. Enjoy every video and learn something wile watching. Keep up the good work
Its nice to see a craftsman at work. I can only watch, never be able to swing buying, but would enjoy seeing you shoot it more in load development. thanks
First time watching one of your vids, what a beautiful product. I'm just getting started in learning precision shooting, so this is well beyond me, but I hope to someday rise to this product.
AWESOME build!
OMG, that is beautiful. I had just convinced myself a few days ago that I didn't need anymore.... well, that just changed.
:)
That's a badass rig brother and great video as always keepem coming!!!
Thanks 👍
I am speechless! "It looks beautiful".
Awesome build. I want one!
That’s a dream rifle, amazing work!
You spare no expense sir. Nice work.
Looks like you really got things figured out in your process. Let me say it looks like an awesome build. In the future can we get some color in the stocks. Keep at this man you are on to something!
Holy smokes that looks beautiful and is accurate to boot.
Awesome !
Wow just amazing
Great build.
Damn good work... I'd buy one for sure!
Amazing stuff. 👍👍
Impressive build! 40 gr H4350 seems conservative but there again I don't know the specs off hand for that specific bullet. Thanks for the video!!
Hi Gavin, super nice built. This type of precision is what need to up your game in precision rifle shooting. Wish that we in South Africa 🇿🇦 could built our own rifles like this. I am stoke about the new Bat Actions. Bought a Tikka T3x chamberd in 6.5 CREEDMOOR a year ago. Took me forever to get load development dailed in, as components are also hard to come buy. Running N550 or H4350 with Lapua Scenars 139gr. Seem to be a nice shooter. Thanks for the content. Like when rifle builds are being presented.
Looks like a great gun!
Big fan of your videos. Best wishes for the new rifle line.
Very nice good work
Beautiful rifle!
i love your shop set up 1660 lathe is great i had southbend that was pretty good
Well done it is a awesome gun
Dream setup - Congratulations.
Great looking rifle.
You got this rifle building stuff down to a science
I hope you are planning to show us that barrel spinner setup soon! Great Build!
I totally agree with machining practice I have surgeon 591 action with a kriger barrel shots groups well 5 shots same raged hole with factory ammo, well worth the Money
Impressive!!!!! I'm sure this will do well for UR.......
There's nothing better than a OCD gunsmith. Love it!
I love your lathe setup. I have a Grizzly lathe it's not near as nice or heavy as yours. I'm also interested in some of the tools you are using. Really like the videos, they are extremely helpful.
Youre going to have a long waitlist. Very nice.
That machining equipment is excellent! The transition to the rifling looks a little rough. Only thing I’d want different is a McMillan U or A series stock. Well done!
Do you want me to comment?
That is a totally rad an awesome build, and I love this set up you’ve got there in your HQ, totally awesome lathe , Beautiful furniture on that gun too,
Awesome 👏
If Mr. Spock were to build rifles I don't think he could come close to this attention to every minute detail and precision. I really enjoy watching! Maybe one day... As someone mention prior if I hit the lottery... I could own one!
nice build
Thanks!
Very talented
Gavin will you do prefits for a defiance action? Love your channel, you put out a lot of knowledge and love the reviews 👍😊🇺🇸
I love your video and I wish to use one of your rifles you are good👍
That setup is THE SHIT!
Definitely be interested in a rilfe like that 😀👍
I have no knowledge of how to use a lathe but I really enjoy your build video. Maybe one day I'll be able to afford a custom rifle from you.
I’d love that rifle.
that's one awesome looking rifle
wish it was controlled round feed
You should consider a competition contour barrel (near straight) with full international weight kits you can’t get the balance forward enough with the foundation’s. That is why so many guys run that brass arca/arca weight at the front.
I'm hearing that the .284 Winchester is making a bit of a comeback in the long range games, any chance of seeing a .284 build?
It's the number 1 F-Open cartridge
@@FullSendPrecision now that would be a very interesting build I second that idea
Could you do a “basics” video describing the bare basics of the different reloading components (presses, powder, primers, case prep tools, etc.?) what they’re called, what they are for, and different variations (like good, better, best / small, med. large) ? That wails be super helpful for a newbie to the sport like me…
Nice results!
I would appreciate your thoughts on how the chambering reamer is held in the machine. For a long time most people seemed to favor floating reamer holders. Then a lot of builders seemed to switch to solid reamer holders (I remember seeing at least one interview with a rifle builder on your channel detailing how that builder set it up in his machine), and now I see you are using what appears to be a type of hybrid system where the rear end is held steady but the front end can float? Thanks
Great precision! A 60 degree action to better clear the scope bell, & it would be the Ultimate! 😉
You do awesome work. Let me know if you are ever looking for an apprentice.
Love these build videos. Top stuff. Question - why do you drill before you clock it up? Wont this encourage the boring bar / reamer to wander off centre?
Will you be doing prefit barrels in your shop? Defiance tenacity, or any of the actions that guarantee a headspace.
That's the dream shop! Amazing. Question on the Chuck: Barrel extension is true enough to each other? Why do a barrel extension vs live rest? its a 60" lathe, wouldn't it be more accurate to put the muzzle end in the chuck and support the chamber end in a live rest? My thought is that any time you have a part to part interface, like the barrel extension, you get tolerance stack which can throw off the true.
Gavin! I’m interested in one!
Now thats some gunsmith forplay...you had me at Bat, baby....
I love it! Sign me up.
Hey brother if someone wants a rifle built with TLC,and the data to prove it then this build is for you lol,it's a once in a lifetime to get one,I will never have one but due to financial obligations , those that can afford one you will have a piece of history, great video Gavin and keep us posted on all the great stuff as you move forward with the other content.
Very nice. Does the 6.5 jump too much for PRS? Wishing you continued success and looking forward to your endeavor into competition barrel builds.
( I have confidence in you).
I'll order a 6ARC AR barrel from you when the time comes. I'll also need a 6BR for a Nucleus Gen 2 action.
You're going to be an even busier man in the future.
Awesome build! Anytime frame on the 50 BMG build
When do I need to pick it up?? Awesome build
Only wish u were in Australia !
Very cool rifle Gavin. Have you weighed it yet?
Awesome build my brother. I am interested in some information the laser engraver you used for marking your barrels. Any info you can share on this to get me pointed in the right direction. Thank you Gavin, and keep up the great videos
Very nice Gavin !! How do you support the barrel behinde the lathe spindle ?
I have a 6 mm Ackley improved that Gordy grtters built for me as a varmint rifle and never could get it to hit anything.
SUUUUUPPPPEEEERRRR JOB! Now, when & how much for a .22 hornet?
Interesting build/method plan. Curious just how much you'll have to charge to make it worth your wild to do as a produced product for sale?
R26 with 140gr eld-m for 2960fps... can't hardly get enough in case to get to press
awesome work and will be interested to see how well all the work turns out on the range. then we can talk purchase .
I bet it will shoot lights
Can you tell us more about your laser engraver?
I’m gonna have to hit the lottery to afford anything this guy builds. 😬 that 223 trainer or a 6br in same chassis and action :)
You can start your own brand of AR10 upper and PRS bolt rifle. You have the skills, maybe start from building small batches and then scale it.
Great video. I am curious , on your shooting setup had a sinclair front rest , it seemed like you were running a bag adapter.. which adapter were you using ? Was attached to Arca or pic rail on the rifle ?
If you need a viewer tester, I am willing to take one for the team! 😜
We will keep that in mind 😂
Gavin what would you say about using a bore snake for initial barrel break in?
looks great and unless you personally build each one its just another rifle
Wow 😯 , talk about precision, it’s all there and then some in the Ultimate Reloder rifle and the machinery Gavin uses . Did I mention that Gavin’s brain 🧠 is programmed for precision ? If I lived in the United States I’d order one of these awesome rifles in a heartbeat. Get em while you can folks .
Are you still able to time barrel curve when chambering in your new set up?
I noticed this time you skipped the process of timing the action for barrel curvature. Can you elaborate on your change in method?
6mm variant would fit PRS more so, 1.200 straight or 1.250 would balance better and i would run weight kit to get weight out front.
What laser did you use
Hey Gavin, thanks for the video and cool set up. Those foundations sure are nice. I had one question - why do you do your load testing from an F-class rest when, for a PRS rig, it would be better to see how you interface with the rifle from the basic positions like standing, kneeling, and sitting?
F class rig is probably better for testing mechanical accuracy.
@@K-bob_45 I believe it is common knowledge that you can feed a good untuned match load into a rifle like that and get half minute groups or better from a rest. I just am curious if there is any plan to try this configuration in some PRS-style positions to see how it groups, since the rifle setup can be a big help.
