Beautiful country.... Been there 21 years. Sadly i need to be back to Malaysia. But... I would like to say. Ayam Penyet is not Brunei tradition food. Is Indonesian. You should have introduced NASI KATOK LILY in Gadong. Nasi Katok represent Brunei.
So true! But nasi katok Lily is not the best in Brunei😂
@@natasyajames6928 hehehe.. oh well as long as is nasi katok that will do. But i miss nasi katok Jerudong.
Thanks for the tip! Now i need to try this nasi katok!!!!
U can always go there if u want to.
Us Pekan Tutong people know that nasi katok Upin Ipin is the best!1!1!1!
Wow you really did your research. Not many tourist know about the Thien Thien chicken rice. Btw If you love camping, you can go to Bintudoh green spring resort in Tutong District. Not many people know about this place even for the locals. Anyway welcome and have a nice visit in Brunei 🎉
Lots of things to see in Brunei!
This country is so unique. Love your videos Luke.
Yea Brunei is truly special!
Thank you so much!
-from a fellow young brunein
Brunei’s biscuits all look delicious, among which Jala attracts me the most!
The French toast in Brunei looks even more delicious than the French toast in other countries, it makes my mouth water!
You did a really great job, thanks a lot for sharing! 👍😄🙏
Thanks Gianni! Very interesting for us to be in a new country in Asia! Hope you’ll enjoy the videos

Bruneian here. That's ardam at 3:14 and it's my favourite kueh. My late grandma used to make them with specialized tools and it's just really tasty and fluffy. Thank you for taking the time to visit us!
It's great to see you first time travel in Brunei. I have never been in Brunei before. Saw you enjoy the breakfast in the market. Lots fruits and veges there. Good place to explore... Have a good trip with all the best Luke!
Thanks for watching :)
Bruneian hereee, you should pour the chicken rice gravy on the rice and mix the chilli with it next time at the thien thien, 🥰 Welcome to Brunei and enjoy!
Ahh you literally went to all bruneians fav restaurant!! The kuey teow sungai is to die for!
Brunei sure is a marvelous place. Hope you had fun there.
Love it!
over the past few years there are many Bruneians opening up FnB business left and right like cafes and restaurants, maybe try to dive in that if you want to explore more about food in Brunei and how the younger generations makes food and tackle unemployment and use their creativity and passion to do something they love which is mostly fusion and modern, i genuinely think that they would propel Brunei's food industry in the near future. hope you have a great stay here.
❤😂Brother you like the street food videos Subscribe my channel❤😊
Thank you, Luke and Mink, for taking us along with you to all these exotic and unique places that we'll never be able to travel to in person. ❤
Thanks for coming along for the journey!
so glad you're enjoying your stay here in Brunei, love the vlog!
The jering u had had been boiled for hours with all sorts of ingredients to make it tender and remove the stink. Raw jering is crunchy with a strong taste. 'Jering rebus' (boiled jering) is a rather common breakfast village fare in the Malay archipelago. The raw jering is usually eaten with the chilli sambal along with other ulams with rice. Both petai n jering have medicinal properties too. Village folks would eat petai n jering together as they'd cancel out each other's stink and the side effects of eating too much jering.
I love that you show the beauty of different cultures through food. ☺️
More to come!
Yes Street foods in Brunei are amazing Delicious. Thanks for featuring ❤😊
Awesome video as always Luke, look forward to them. Thank you 😊
Thanks Angie! More videos coming soon
Glad youre enjoying Brunei, Luke! Welcome! ✨
Nice! thanks you for sharing
Welcome & glad to see you enjoyed the foods here... Yeah there is not much night life here in brunei, that's why we have lots of restaurants & cafe instead for people to chill out, and also part of the reason why brunei is ranked #1 in obesity rate in ASEAN countries 😂
Anyway, the ayam penyet is based from Indonesian foods, and the only thing i think that is missing in your video is our $1 nasi katok (though a lot have raised it to $1.50 due to the inflation from the pandemic)
I love Bronay🇧🇳
Form Bangladesh 🇧🇩

You should try Brunei traditional food pais daging which is a sticky beef covered inside a leave and then covered inside an aluminium foil.
Many Bruneians always talk about ambuyat but pais daging is not talked enough especially how good it is.Please try it.

Gostaria muito de conhecer esse país e a culinária local, parece incrível
Nice!
Luke, at 12:00 when you were panning next to the river...there's a corner shop lot behind you. I recall it's called Seafood Su. You need to try their Kolo Mee with Yiwat (Egg Noodles with Fish paste) and their Manicai fried with eggs.
I usually pop by Chop Jing Chiew for tea time and then make my way over to Seafood Su for dinner.
Not sure if you were asked to visit Pasar Malam Gadong (night market). They have some pretty nice Ikan Bakar there. Then there is Nasi Katok Mabohai (Low San Flats) and the Ayam Penyet at Tamu Selera (they have two levels of spicy sambal, get the normal one!).
Man, I really miss Brunei and the food.
brunei is clean & quiet country ☺️
thank u for coming to brunei❤
yes at the water village its so beautiful and i always go there on my bike and see them if ur lucky theyre whole body
Tassanee Restaurant is my fav food restaurant. I always order it when I am working

One more I forgot name😅😊 ❤❤❤ also I like Span and Middle East food Al Saudis. ,,, and finally Turkish foods ❤❤❤
4:08 you've tried it before in Padang 3 years ago, the rendang version of it. It's called jengkol in Bahasa 😆
you should pour the chicken rice gravy on the rice and mix the chili, you can taste umami
looks really cool, seems like a scary place to get drunk though with all those crocs and water walkways with no railings :)
No worry’s all halal so no alcohol 😂 probably for good reason
Welcome to my real home country
I live here in Brunei Darussalam!
I like how you pronounce places
Damnnnn Jing Chew!
Lots of kuih and food similar to sarawak..
How are prices in Brunei like? The food, environment etc kinda gives off Johor Bahru vibes but the currency is interchangeable with the Singapore dollar so I'm really curious.
As a local, food is generally affordable albeit becoming somewhat costly nowadays.
ada ayam penyet and ayam geprek di Brunei...👍
Byk warung indo dan org indo di brunei
Oooh jering!!!!!! Dia sebut jarring jarring, rupanya jering!!!!!
Try ambuyat😊
👍
In Indonesia, jengkol is cooked with chili sauce, called jengkol balado. Eat it with hot rice. Even though I don't like jengkol, my family likes it
Depends on where in Indonesia you’re from. Where I’m from we prefer to turn it to a snack with coconut dipping, and in Jakarta they make it into an entree with sweet profile called semur.
@@KilanEatsandDrinks Jengkol can be stewed and can also be made into balado (cooked with chili) My aunt often makes jengkol balado
Bro nice video 👍👌
Is there a link to all the restaurants you went to?
👍👍👍
Amizing luke food 😊

How are you not full after that meal at Jing Chew???
Amazing Food Greetings from Morocco❤
Showwww
tIEN2 BRUNEi and Tien2 chicken rice in singapore, malacca and brunei were sisters that started its operation in Malacca malaysia. sisters went to singapore and brunei......thats the history
That sign was not in Arabic! It's Malay written in the Jawi script which is similar to the Arabic script!
thank you for coming to brunei and hope you enjoy
Many of the words describing the food were in Bahasa Indonesia. Sungai is river, kuning yellow, khawen is marriage. Salak
it’s Malay, the origin of bahasa indonesia hence the similarities
indon very pathetic..majority jawa but its national language is Bahasa Melayu originated from Peninsular Malaysia
Indonesians really need to stop being overly nationalistic.
When are you coming to Ghana 🇬🇭 Luke?
I’d love to some day! Both myself and mink need a visa however to come to Ghana
Can't wait for you to try our foods too (Waakye, jollof,.....)
OMG u r in brunei! Hope u enjoy your stay here!
Welcome to Brunei!!! ☺️☺️☺️
Luke is underrated should be 10m subs
Thanks for your support
