You are very welcome and had mentioned the Lorus Lumibrite because I picked one up myself and have to say a very nice watch. Review coming soon! Cheers, Tony - WTA
Very helpful to know about Argos sales - I recently noticed they have the Casio G-Shock GW-M5610-1ER for £74.99. You won't believe the immense struggle I'm having NOT to click and collect it!!!
I got one last time it was on sale. What pushed me into it was finding it was an updated model with things like a new higher contrast display, ability to select UK date format, world time that scrolls the full city name and an LED backlight. Yes, I know some prefer EL backlights but the LED is brighter and having lower power consumption you get the option of having it stay on longer, for 3 seconds.
Thanks for that info - I didn't realise Argos were selling the updated version & I totally agree with your point about LEDs. I've pulled the click and collect trigger. Picking it up tomorrow. 😊
I've used the Lorus Lumibrite watch now for over nearly 10 years, on my second one at the moment. Classic military type watch, great for work, and also looks quite smart. The watch face when charged with a good day's sunlight, literally lights up a tent when camping, its that bright.
A solar powered stainless steel analogue watch face is what I'd like to treat myself for christmas. I've had two solar GShocks the first an analogue face which failed after six years of daily use and now a digital face that does everything I need and doesn't miss a beat. A nice smart casual solar watch if there one out there I'd like. Interesting video. Subbed.
Glad that the video was of some help. The Casio GW-M5610U is a great watch to own and wear and I hope you enjoy yours in good health! Cheers, Tony - WTA
I had been waiting to buy the blue promaster 300 m diver. I got some money for my birthday & nearly collapsed when I saw the price of £149.99. I jumped on it straight away. Yes you are correct the watch is amazing. Go ahead & buy it as the price is unbelievable. I had also bought the Lorus. Again the price is crazy, along with the watch. Argos had always been a place where you can find crazy prices.Great video.
Thats great to read that you have both the Citizen Promaster Diver and the Lorus Lumibrite from the sale. Will have to save up for the Citizen so hopefully this time next year I will have one on my wrist with a big smile! Cheers, Tony - WTA
i found myself without a watch so i jumped in and ordered the promaster and the lumibrite will these be the start of something i may regret? im sure both will serve me well and at the price point it seemed a no brainer. That said money dosen't grow on trees for me so i always look for value, so thanks for the heads up!
I bought one of those Citizens (in black) in 2012 for £129 (Manager's special), so £149 is a bargain! It's been my 'actually go diving' dive watch ever since, doing hundreds of dives without any issues - Great watch!
I am very tempted with the blue one but I will have to wait until I am in a better financial position to buy one. Hopefully this time next year they will be at the same price, fingers crossed 🤞! Cheers, Tony - WTA
Got the Lorus field watch yesterday for £25 in Argos nice watch for the price going to get a different strap as the nylon one it comes with is a bit small for me.
I would agree and I may change the strap to something a bit more substantial, but for £25 its still a very nice watch to have. Hope you enjoy your Lorus Lumibrite in good health! Cheers, Tony - WTA
Picked up the Citizen “ Bryson “ chronograph on the brown strap a couple of years ago . £120 in the Argos sale. Was an impulse buy ( prefer mechanical automatic watches ) . Turns out I wear it more than any of my other watches because it looks great on a variety of straps , marine nationale , nato , leather , silicone.
I understand that the Citizen Bryson Chronograph may not be to everyones taste but based on what you have just said and the fact that I love the look of them, hopefully one day soon I will get hold of one for the channel and to wear for the long term. Thank you for commenting! Cheers, Tony - WTA
I got a Lorus watch in titanium nearly the same as the model here. Just the hands shine but they must have stolen some lume from their parent company, Seiko.
I did see a few reviews of the titanium version of it but I plumped for the one in the video as at £25 you cant complain, though I would admit it may be a little on the small side for some people. Cheers, Tony - WTA
Be careful with argos buys the lumibrite is great! however the promaster has to go back the inside lid of the round box was marked where the watch had be bouncing off it the strap was marked on the inside and all of the protective film was missing but the killer was that the watch second hand moved in two second increments. lets see if they sort a new one not a returned beater?
Sorry to read that you had been given a returned watch. I sometimes wonder if that is the case with some of the watches I have bought from Argos. To be fair to them though their return policy is second to none and you can pop into one of their stores to get a replacement. Cheers, Tony - WTA
I picked up the 9:15 Lorus Lumibrite couple of days ago, after a voucher and Nectar points it only cost me £9.99. The strap is OK but I may upgrade later, the 2nd keeper is rather loose. Not worn overnight yet so can't comment on how the lume lasts yet.
That is cheap for one of those! I am with you regarding the strap, as it needs to have something a little more substantial but great watch overall. Cheers, Tony - WTA
@wetryanythingchannel I found the lume does last until my 6:30 alarm so impressed with that. I did see a video with this watch on a Long Island Watches SNK805 bracelet, looked great but an expensive upgrade considering the value of the watch. I may get one for my Seiko & if I do will def try on.
Got the g shock last week its a solid watch I looked for a good mens watch and the g shock came up at 50 quid for a g shock can't go wrong i think it's a little big for most though
I think that I had mentioned that about the G-Shock GA-100 in the video and the dial/display may be a little busy for some but its at a great price at the moment and well worth checking out. I hope you enjoy your watch in good health! Cheers, Tony - WTA
That's because you're brainwashed. Quartz is better than mechanical in literally every aspect... more accurate, more reliable, more durable, thinner and lighter to wear... There's not even one reason for you to pay more for less quality. If changing a battery once in 3-23 (depending of a watch) years concerns you, then think how are you not concerned with servicing a mechanical watch, which is much more complicated and more expensive job.
Each to their own and every movement has its place. I have been tempted with manual and automatic watches in the past but I don't think that with the collection I have built up over the years I can justify having one with the little wrist time it would probably get. The potential for having to service them plus they are not as accurate as quartz movement watches is also a negative, saying that though I know I will eventually end up getting a few down the line and may change my view on what I have said earlier. Cheers, Tony - WTA
thx for mentioning the Lorus.. its the classic day day, military.. tough n cheap with a twist... absolute classic..

I succumbed and got in last week! Love it to bits. Proper daily driver!
"Ah yesssss..... succumbed! Our favourite English word!" - a Casio spokesperson.

It always amazes me how much beauty and precision are added to the parts of AMZWATCH's watch 99% of people will never see.

Lorus is popular with tradesmen I know, so funny we end up buying the same watch. I've had three , nice and clear and glows in the dark,

3-4 hrs, my argos... I can barely get 40 min out of my seiko with lumibrite hands
Just brought a casio 5610u from argos.
@@lawrence-ec5dm same lol £68 with delivery

I have never seen a watch in Argos I like
You won't be sorry getting that Lorus 🤓
It is a great watch and have a video of it coming out this Saturday! Thank you for commenting.

Argos has none , and some one bought the lot before they were put in the shop
These are all horrendous and it explains why they're in the sale.
Each to their own and beauty being in the eye of the beholder. The world would be a boring place if we all liked the same things.

This has nothing to do with being brainwashed, I'm not into battery watches. that's my opinion.
These watches are for sale because of their size mate. Nobody wears a 44 or 52 mm watch anymore.
Size is pretty irrelevant with Gshock though. They just work perfectly, especially if you work outside all day.
Lorus ---> 35mm diameter
