Always thought that trick was so hard but you just made it seem so simple I'm definitely going to be trying it tonight. Thank you very much for another great lesson in super Mario Brothers 3!
That music note block messes me up. Also, once I get that turtle by the pipe, I don't jump and kick him, I do it once, but let him walk to me, cause I sucj. And to get in pipe, I hold down and over at same time.
Hey mitch. Nice tutorial! However, couple of things that could have been shown, firstly i would have had the "practise 7-1" practise rom on, so that the values of the koopas can be monitored for newbies practising. I.E once the last shell is placed after the damage boost, the score display should be 20E38F i.e koopa against pipe is 20, koopa against block up top is E3, and last koopa is 8F. also, the note block will never stuff up this particular setup, only the very first firekill one from 2014 haha. Also to note is that if you jump off the note block or the pipe to the left of it, and bop the parakoopa instead of tail swiping it, it will never cause a crash later on at the end. It's ONLY if its tailed swiped that the direction of travel (up/down) has to be worried about. (The 20 shell) Lastly, it's actually much more consistent to wait under that last pipe holding the shell facing right, and once you see him shake, then jump into the pipe, wait for damage, then come down. by doing this, it doesn't matter if he moves a pixel when taking damage up on top as long as you are holding down. this is because the sprite value changes but not the object x position. Finally, there's no reason to jump all the way to the bottom of the floor either as the koopa was despawned as you fell out of the pipe (and despawned at X position 8F) so just go straight for the pipe glitch. Couple of other things: when mario gets spat out of the end of the glitch pipe after all the garbage tiles, if you wait for the melody part of the song to be playing then jump, you will never get a chamber crash. when i say melody, i mean the music melody deda deeda deda............ deda deeda deda......etc etc (not just the percusion) *If you want a faster bottom section, bop the koopa but wait like 4 seconds before picking him up and going to the platform under the pipe facing right ready to jump into it when he shakes. This is because koopa's take twice as long to wake up when you are holding them, compared to when they are just stomped on the ground. I know you probably know most of this stuff and just wanted to make it simple but for interested people, they can always read my essay i mean.. comment lol -KabAudio
I'll have to try this at home. I learned the first two Mario 3 levels from watching your tutorials on them, so learning 2 more + the party trick warp would be fun~
Super Mario All-Stars - I get in the wrong warp every time, but after going all the way down the garbled mess it sends me back up through the same way I came and spits me back out.
UPDATE: I fixed my old NES since this won't work on the Super Nintendo (all-stars). On the NES game, it spits me out in the garbled mess where you would normally get pushed off-frame and into the princess room. This push off-frame never happens. Could this have anything to do with fixing the console by taking out the 4th pin in the lockout chip in order to get it to work? It looks like a couple of the frames on the left of the screen aren't working at all. I'm assuming that has something to do with the 72-pin connector and just a few of those on the end not touching. Please let me know your thoughts.

I like youre content mitch but this was clickbait and honestly so much can go wrong. Like, the pixel perfect shell can fail and you can take damage there. You can fall down by accident and mess up your sprite locations. You can take damaged twice on the one koopa. Idk man it was just kind of clickbait, maybe it was a new trick to you to be fair...
Mitch, great video as always. Hope u can shed some light for me on how in the world one figures this out?! Who was the first person to do all of these specific moves and figured out it ended in this conclusion. It's all so mind blowing to me to think about!
Someone looked at the games code and noticed the game ends when specific game data quotas are met. They then tried to copy those data quotas with koopa shells and coordinates. 7-1 was the perfect candidate to do this on because there was a lot of koopas to move and ways to position them. That's the short, easy version of it.
I tried this and could not get it to work, so I found the 7-1 practice ROM to see what was going on. My mistake was that I moved horisontally as soon as I dropped down from the pipe after taking damage from the last koopa, and this gave me another sprite position value for that koopa. I have no clue why. But as long as I drop straight down from the pipe and don't move horisontally before you land, it works. Just wanted to add this since it's not mentioned in the video.
I tried your approach multiple times but i just didn’t got it working untill i decided to jump to the right instead after entering that glitch area and guess what, while everything first did become black thus making me believe that it just crashed againBUT 1 second later the ending did appear,i was really amezed when that happened because i didn’t expected anything else to happen, but it did happen and so i finally succeeded doing this glitch.
OK, you just earned a subscriber with that one! I speedrun Mega Man 2 (Any%, Normal 30:30), TMNT 1 (Any%, 23:13) and Super Metroid (Any% KPDR - 1:16:54), and I've always loved SMB3 since it got hyped in Nintendo Power and "The Wizard". I've seen other videos on the credits warp, but had never been able to replicate it. Until now with this video! There were a couple parts I had to use states to do a few times, but overall, I hit my first ever credits warp in about 10 minutes or so of work, and that's counting getting there from 1-1. But again, I used save states, so I don't know how fast I can actually do it. Yet........
There's a much easier way of getting the third koopa into place, if I'm not mistaken. You can just jump on him while he's in the air, then fall down with him onto the pipe that he lands on, then stand to the right of him and tail-flick him off the edge. Then go down and land next to the shell, being careful not to kick it, and wait for him to wake up. Then you can let him walk slowly into position before you stomp him instead of having to time your jump perfectly while he's zooming back and forth at lightning speed. Is there any reason why that wouldn't work, other than taking longer?
There's a great technical explanation of why the glitch works here: ua-cam.com/video/fxZuzos7Auk/v-deo.html That was recorded back when Mitch's run from the start was the world record, so there's a section at the end showing the exact X positions of the Koopas in memory in Mitch's run.
I've actually pulled it off just once tonight, proud of myself for that. But all the other attempts have been crashes, or it freezes as soon as Peach's cell room shows up
There seems to be some "randomness" happening here, since i did create a savestate in the glitch zone. I kept loading the state, and jumped at varying delays. I get more crashes than wins. Sometimes, it freezes for a second or two.
I can now do this frequently. But my main problem with being consistent is the last koopa who almost ALWAYS moves a frame to ruin the set-up. It's better off to load from the Game Genie than to start from the beginning to show off the trick in my honest opinion.
Hey, if you play it on the switch if you get to the glitchy part and do the last step the part where your meant to meat peach it comes up with an error screen.
i was able to pull this off relatively easily multiple times on the switch version, but after a day i went to try it again and even though my setup is perfect i can't seem to do it, it'll either crash or send me to the end room but crash as soon as I enter it, there is no way they patched it so I'm confused :(

I just tried the same thing on Switch and crashed trying to get into Peach’s Room. I am not sure what the inputs are to get in there, if I’m doing it wrong or it just doesn’t work

After watching this video I tried it out on the Nintendo Switch Online version. I've been able to do it twice but the success rate was like 5%. I tried it a lot of times. I'm not like AAAAH Mitch lied to me about the success rate! I'm just wondering if the switch version is slower or something. Also it may be because my shell pixel line up was ff but by review of this video, I don't think that's the case. Is there someone in the comments who knows what inputs would mess up this trick.
I just tried it and I can get into the weird "red pipe" and glitch everything, but when Mario comes out of the Pipe, the peach ending doesn't come on. I just get stuck in limbo.
I'm playing on nintendo switch online. It always says "An error has occurred within the game." Any help?: edit: must have been some sort of positioning that was messed up
You can enter the pipe and see the garbled mess just like the NES version, but eventually it'll stop at the bottom and start going up. It'll spit you back into the level through one of the pipes above the one you entered and you can play the stage normally from there.
@@MetaKnightPlayz It's fine. I see why you thought it was fake. It's not easy to do. If it crashed, think about these things: 1. When you hit the flying Koopa, was it going upward? It should be. 2. When you stomp the Koopa shell against the pipe, make sure the pixels of the shell are touching the side of the pipe but not inside it. 3. When you get damaged by the Koopa (if you do that step), make sure it doesn't move at all when you enter the pipe. 4. After getting damaged, make sure you despawn everything by going to the bottom of the level, just in case.
I've done all the steps but still no but I think I have a logical answer witch I could see in the glitch and the most logical answer would be the timing of the jump when you hit the ground in the glitch version of the stage so witch means that it's not those steps we need to follow it's a precise jump and pixel maybe but I'm not sure

You should start doing runs to beat world record you seem good enough
It doesn’t work for me. Even if i did how you told me, It will go to the very bottom and go up again and the brown pipe will appear. Then if i enter here, It will drop me on a pit near the goal and i will die. How do i fix this?
are you playing all stars?
@@blobbles_9108 i’m playing the nes emulator in the switch
Great tutorial though
take damage at 269 if needed. nice. works on leftbros confirmed. =]
you know it.....69696969696969696969
how do you get practice rom
does it work for the switch
I did it on the switch and it worked up until the last jump then it just glitches the screen nothing else but also I world 1-3 if you hit the pink and white note block you're supposed to be stuck in an infinite loop I've done this but now it just makes everything disappear and I'll float down into a pit
??
What’s the rom called
It always says "An error has occurred within the game." Any help?: edit: must have been some sort of positioning that was messed up
See if you can get lucky. Maybe try pushing rewind before the warp should happen so the game doesn't crash
Nevermind! The pixel positioning must've been wrong, so now it works!!!
Does this work for the NES mini?
It should
Does it work with the nintendo switch game
Yes it's just inconsistent
Does this work on All Stars?
You can enter the pipe and see the garbled mess just like the NES version, but eventually it'll stop at the bottom and start going up. It'll spit you back into the level through one of the pipes above the one you entered and you can play the stage normally from there.
Hi Man. Legends in Portuguese please! Thanks.
Does this work on Nintendo switch
Yes. It's just inconsistent
Didn’t work was on NES Classic mini. did everything right
what about that 0.1%
Hay taaah😉
good😀
I tried it and you faked it I did the exact steps and it didn't work
It's not really an easy glitch to pull off. It will probably take some practice.
Well I got it but the game crashed now what to do
And sorry for calling it fake
@@MetaKnightPlayz It's fine. I see why you thought it was fake. It's not easy to do.
If it crashed, think about these things:
Doesn't work did everything right
