Manson is a well spoken, intellectually brilliant human being. Honestly have never been into his art, but as a creative I understand being misunderstood and as woeful as it sounds , human beings can be extremely dedicated to misunderstanding one another.
I suspect he wz basically a smart ass nerd in school & got outta school & reinvented himself ad the most evil person ever😂

Watching this, 16 years later, is mind blowing, that intro already just sounded like written today! Man... I cannot admire Henry Rollins more than I already do. He's lost some of that grit you could see on his face back then, today. I really wish to hear him about the current situation in our world. I must admit I thought this was something new but is not, which doesn't make it less interesting... on the contrary it gives an even better point of view on reality. Henry Rollins is a reality check. I wish his words counted more, in this world. We need more Henry Rollins or just more of Henry Rollins!

@@helenga666 i bought this DVD series from a 2nd hand media dealer before it went under, and i wish i could upload them all for everyone. He picked a lot of cool people, with the only exception being Adam Carolla. The Adam Carolla interview was cringey AF, made me lose some respect for Rollins.
@@te9591 likely whoever produced that show had people or friend of business associates they wanted to get PR time... or, henry has an odd collection of friends that span the spectrum, which is just as likely.

So cool to see Peaches rocking out so hard, I was not expecting her to be on this show when I clicked this video. Her art has withstood the test of time and she has just as much devotion from her fans as Manson has with his - just not as much exposure. Both artists are brave and are cultural leaders!

Indeed, the show is a little too celeb-oriented to my taste, but the curation is really great. We'd need something like this now more than ever.

Marilyn Manson's words about the Art and the creatives work bringing something positive in the world that builds the world instead of destroying it... I couldn't relate more, as an artist and a creative I feel the same responsibility and also how at the end of the day is never enough, whatever I do trying to make the world better falls into the island of irrelevancy. I definitely must agree with Henry Rollins and his words on Manson. I've never been a Manson's fan simply because I had different tastes about heavy metal _{TOOL, Opeth, Therion... and, among the others, Henry Rollins Band of course!} and its visual side as well which is also an important part of the art of music, but always respected the guy and the artist, specially the mockery on religions he willing or not does. My view on religions!?? Simply put: the cancer of mankind... go watching what really religions look alike, on both sides of Gaza's land stripe!_

I was a roomate to a close friend and famous industrial band mate that opened and worked w M many years. Being in that world, inside. I can tell you. These guys party hard like cannot imagine and use drugs to create their "art". its insane to watch them destroy themselves while they create but thats their choice, its rock and roll. I watched them all fall but never saw them be bad people. Only chase crazy highs to create music.

This is sadly not a great interview because of the place Manson was in at the time. He was focused solely on rebuilding himself and climbing out of a deep pit of depression so he wasn't paying any attention to the political landscape at the time and had nothing to really say. It appeared he was even taken aback like he was blindsided by Henry's political questions. They surely could have had a better experience a bit earlier, like in 2005

I was a big ass Manson fan in 96-97 and i caught so much S**t at school and was singled out and was always gett8ng in trouble over my t-shirts and labeled a satanist..... I just loved music, Manson, Korn, Limp Bizkit and so on and still big fans but boy do people suck....
I also remember picking up Rollins band record and What i thought was a Henry Rollins "solo" album from a pawn shop but turned out to be a spoken word thing.... I believe i still have those cds still

I love interviews like this, where you get a look behind the curtain at the real artist. Henry and Marilyn's views on the government are spot on. The only sad part is they think it only the right wing. They seem to think the left actually cares. Left wing and right wing are connected to the same vulture.
From an outside POV, there are only two right-wing partes in America (ok, people like Bernie are legitimately left of center, but they have no influence).
I have no idea where MM sits, he's always been ambiguous about down to earth politics. Besides his blatant rage against conservatism, I know he likes some Hakim Bey (some left libertarian writer). He's probably too egoist to care anyway and he's a middle class background (his father being a car dealer or something), so that scrambles the tracks a little more.
Honestly, I felt weird when the biggest voices who came out to defend him against the allegations were culture war right-wingers.
I recall Sam Brownback, Jeff Sessions, John Ashcroft, Rick Santorum, William Bennet trying to cancel his record deal. Yea some dickless Dems like Joe Lieberman were on board. Bill O'Reilly at least had him on and Manson smoked him.@@kittavares4334

For me, these Rollins interviews are so out of date. I now understand that there is no difference between Republicans and Democrats. Both parties are owned by the same interests. (Military Industrial Complex, Pharma and many others) I hope Henry has grown also.... and all of you.

You're right, but I think he's talking about the period before his divorce, which was really bleak from what I gathered. He's against organized religion and hypocrites/authoritarians, not JC himself. His stance on spirituality is actually pretty unclear (especially nowadays).
@@kittavares4334 I think he needs to go back to Christ - he would be happier. I think he has a good spirit, just currupted from all the trauma and horrible things that have happened. If he resisted the shock and awe and anger in his history, he may not be in the position he's in now. Many of these stars started in broken homes and think this direction to stardum will solve the void, but it only continues it. Matt Perry would be a great example of that.
Always intrigued by these fellows stories - saw Henry Rollins live and although I don't agree with some of his believes and views, still highly respect and admire him.

I remember seeing him on the Antichrist Superstar tour it was freaking awesome still one of the best concerts I've ever seen...then I went to mm show a couple years ago and it was pathetically sad... Just a old man screaming into a microphone that was obviously to messed up on whatever to perform...
He got sober 2/3 years ago, so I expect his performances will be solid again when he tours next summer.

Buuuut, a *lot* of it has to do with american mentality in general. It's just ridiculous how pro-gun people feel the need to *contantly* remind EVERYone that "it's their *constitutional RIGHT* to own as many guns as they want" (but obviously children don't have the right to feeling safe at school).....and *that* is something that doesn't just change. People have to want change more than their guns in order for "answers" to work; but there *are* "answers" out there. People here in Germany are happy that guns are difficult to purchase (and my American gf definitely feels safer living in a country with strict gun laws) .....that not just *every* and *any* damn person can get&have them. I'm not saying that it's 100% guarantee that mass shootings won't *ever* happen, but all you have to do is take a look at the numbers to know how effective strict gun laws and *real* background checks are. I don't mind certain, not mentally ill, people having a gun, unless it is an AR or ANYthing similar to, or stronger than (obviously), which is usually the weapon of choice for a mass shooter.
@@jeffjones3040 If there is an answer, you're not going to find it in government. You can always rely on the federal government to make the situation worse. So banning guns and all that nonsense aside, you can't stop someone from doing something before they do it. You have to be prepared for what may come. That's really the only answer. The reaction to the action.
