„That track was strange - recalls Brian. I did the most of the lyrics for Freddie to sing and you can imagine what that felt like. I did ask him at one point if he was okay about it and he said, Yeah, totally okay about it. I will give it my all. And he did. He sang, I think, some of the best vocals of his life on that track, and most of the tracks on that album are incredible. He really was getting very weak by that time, but he could still summon up that strength to sing.”
Making music kept Freddie a little longer alive, he was a musician and performer from top to toe.

in a lot of earlier interviews and on Tv Brian said they spent the afternoon together decided on the theme and hammered out the lyrics, Freddie wasn't well but he had enough material to finish it.
Brian later added wings of a butterfly

2 things. If you want to hear his last piece you got to check out „mother love“. It was the last song Freddie ever sang. He left the studio without having it finished and he never returned so Brian sang the last verse. It is incredible how he sang the song. He was in a even worse condition than in „the show must go on“, but it’s a lovely and beautiful song whatsoever. The second thing is Queens tribute song sang by Brian and Roger. It’s called „no one but you“. I recommend checking out both, but personally I prefer „Mother Love“.

The other day I played this for my wife. She's obsessed with the Pentatonix and Mitch so I told her as good as he is Mitch ain't git shit on Freddie. The Shiw Must Go On is rated as one of Freddie's best vocal performances. I thought that it meant LIVE but I recently learned it was never performed in concert. That doesn't change the fact that this song is indeed his finest performance. Long live the Queen!!! 🤟

Apparently Brian May approached Freddie and mentioned I’ve written a new song do you think you’re well enough to sing , Freddie replied of course I can Darling and took a large vodka and sang this song in one take , absolutely amazing, I attended many Queen live concerts in the 70s and 80s they were absolutely amazing live and fantastic talented musicians, great reaction thanks 🙏

Brian has said on many earlier interviews and on TV that he and Freddie wrote it together, the lyrics and decided on the theme.
Freddie wasn't well so Brian finished it off but had enough material from the session. Brian later added wings of a butterfly
Brian did a demo but could only sing it in falsetto so wasn't sure if it was too much.
for a good singer it's challenging to sing words clearly without braking in high range in chest voice, he sang that part on it's own and nailed it, he didn't re record it, he sang through the rest of it then they added that on

1985 I attended Live Aid a amazing memories for me, Freddie was advised by his Doctors not to perform at Live Aid as he had a throat infection, how amazing was that, yet Queens legendary performance is one if not the best performance ever from a band !

Thanks, Brad - I'm sure people will have already told.. Brian wrote this, but told Freddie "I'm not sure you will be able to sing this..." and Freddie downed a shot of vodka and said "I'll fuckin' do it, Darling".. and as Brian said.. just "lacerated that vocal"...

The Show Must Go On like so many others from Queen do hold up today and for many tomorrow's r.i.p. Freddie. The British female artist Amy Winehouse rehab 2006 I believe still holds up today. Hope you agree. Great reaction x

It was towards the end of Fred life, however a lot of the lyrics were written by Dr Brian May Freddie just wanted to carry on recording until he couldn't do it anymore, and they all sang although John didn't like the sound of his own voice, and also all played different instruments, and wrote together, separately or maybe in pairs

The fact he could sing like this while sick made the announcement that he was sick the day before he died that much more shocking.

This song was released one month before Freddie's death in October 1991. He didn't sing The Show must go on live...the video you are referring to is a montage from the song Who wants to live forever in Budapest in 1986...

This song is definitely still relevant, and so it absolutely holds up. But their are songs that are so dated with their lyrics that the music may hold up, but the song couldn't be anything except nostalgic.
