    I'm on the other side of the world as you, in southern Brazil, and my Gymnocalycium mihanovichii just flowered as well, as we are approaching the end of summer! It was a nice pink-ish white flower and I'm waiting for a couple more flowers as well. Nice that even on different hemispheres, it flowers at the same time.

    A beautiful selection of early buds and blooms from your wonderful collection, Daz! Indeed, the month of February has been unusually mild this end too and there are already quite a few signs of new life and growth, including buds on plants in my collection aswell - although, we have not had much sunshine here yet, so I am waiting for the "big wake up", just around the corner I hope, haha! Thanks for sharing and sending you and Edith wonderful greetings for an awesome weekend ahead! Take care, my friends, and happy growing of course!

    Ah, the promise of hope! 🥰 Love those cute buds, Sweetheart! 😍 The G. rubra has that habit of dropping its buds and never opening really. I remember someone shared with me before that they need tons of light and limit the watering. Don’t know if you want to try that. 😊 Looking forward to more blooms come spring! 🌺🌼🌸❤️💚

    Beautiful plants and video, as always. Disappointingly, I have nothing coming in to bud as most of my plants are too young - or they flower at other times of year. I will be very excited when I get the first bud on a plant that I've grown from seed, but we're probably looking at 2026 or 2027! 🙂🌵

      @@CactimaniaWe've had 22degC here today in northern Spain and it's forecast to last for a few days, so I've been watering quite a few of my non-desert cacti. I'm holding off on the desert ones until the night time temps get a bit higher and the sunlight hours longer - hopefully not long to wait now.

    I have one that blooms all the time. I recently repotted it and it just went right ahead and bloomed anyway. It never stops blooming. I have a haworthia that is putting up an odd looking flower stalk. It is a new one so I'm surprised that it is already blooming.

    Sorry if you’ve mentioned this before but what is the dark purple topping you sprinkle over the top of the soil?
    Where did you get it?
    It looks so pretty when contrasted with what looks like black lava rock.
    Thanks!

      It's a systemic pesticide to keep mealybugs away. It's not the easiest to get hold of as it's mainly Thai sellers on eBay who sell it and of course depending on your countries import laws you could end up losing it. Thanks for watching and commenting 🌵☀️🌺🌸🌼🏜

    What happened to the Turbinicarpus andersonii at 2:10? Red spider mite infestation?

    • @Cactimania
      @Cactimania  4 місяці тому +1

      Not an andersonii. Its always been that way. Never had any pests on it. There's images online of others that have similar colouration on the tubercles. Could be down to light. Thanks for watching and commenting 🌵☀️🌼🌺🏜

    • @Nino_G
      @Nino_G 4 місяці тому +2

      @@Cactimania T. andersonii is synonym for T. panarottoi. Accepted scientific name is T. schmiedickeanus subs. andersonii (published by Mosco & Zanov. 2002). Yellowish/brownish tubercle tips are typical for this species, but I never saw corking this extensive.

    • @Cactimania
      @Cactimania  4 місяці тому

      @Nino_G It is strange, but it's definitely not mite damage. If you look at it more closely under natural light the colour is more olive. It's a happy and healthy plant otherwise 🌵☀️🌼🏜
