I love the intricacies of this system. I always found it frustrating that things like stealth and climbing weren't as useful as they should be, becuase in every party there's the guy that has agility as his dumpstat, and thus keeps the party from progressing through the narrative by stealth or by climbing. Similarly the idea of improving the mechanics and narrative of planning is a lovely idea, because it keeps the guessing game between players and GM to a minimum. And the trauma system is a real nice touch un the burning wheel "detriments and mechanical benefits" system.
I am LOVING this so far! A new perspective, a great cast of characters and a really interesting and mysterious DM! I can't wait to hear more and its only part 3 of episode 1! We need more of these kinds of games and DMs! Is it possible to get Masks to be a series instead of a one shot? Im craving these new settings!
Rhaen someone must make his character "hard", and hopefully he doesn't try to do so himself again and pretty much admit to someone he's warp tainted... or whatever this games equivalent is.
The only problem with the session was that they rolled a 2 on an engagement roll and started in a risky situation instead of desperate. Otherwise it's very entertaining and exciting
I know I am late to this party, but I just purchased the game and figured I would watch this series. So question: could they not have used a Flashback to make the duelist guy leave his signature sword behind to avoid that scene? Or do Flashbacks not revoke bad roll outcomes (which is what that really was)?
You can't use flashbacks to change the fiction so once it has been established that the guy saw (or thought he saw) the signature sword the sword cant magically vanish with a flashback. However you can for example do a flashback where you mark the real sword with a sign of a smith that makes convincing replicas. Then the guy would still go like "hey I know this sword from anywhere how are you doing?" And you could say "oi mate sorry this is a replica see the oil stamp over there" That would certainly help but would not undo the guy noticing the sword
The only thing I dislike about DM Harper, is that he much like a JRPG, holds your hand WAY too much. The players can figure stuff on their on with some information, like Wheat on stress points and if they have doubts, they'll ask, there is no need to push endless amounts of information.
It's also a show; the DM isn't just educating the players, he's also teaching the viewers about the mechanics of the game. Which is why he repeats some of the rules so not only the people that haven't played the game in the group, but also to the viewers so they know what's going on.
That's pretty severe lol, being called a JRPG...it's the first session of a ruleset that nobody has used before, and John happens to be the one who made the game so...I would be more surprised if he opted to _not_ explain his own game's mechanics.
this game has only been shown twice on youtube as far as i know. on harper's ow channel and now here. it's a new system no one knows what to do so of course he needs to explain it.
"She's a good person!" such a good delivery!
I thought this comment was sarcastic when I first read it, but now that I've gotten through that part: holy shit, it actually was XD

SinerAthin Or use him like Guts vs 1000 Soldiers. Just leave him behind until you need to run and use him as a flesh shield.

Davos Seaworth is a great GM. Should've stopped serving Stannis Baratheon sooner!
The onion trade ain't what it used to be.
Wait, Big Bird and Toucan Sam have become professional assassins?
...Wow, children's programming must be tougher to make it in than I thought...
Times got rough gotta feed the kids somehow
HOW HAVE I NOT KNOWN ABOUT THIS FOR SO LONG!!?!?!!?
this is great!!
What a great way to introduce an entirely new rpg system.
So if I understand the "trauma" system correctly, there might come a time when DjWheats character becomes "soft"...
Rhaen someone must make his character "hard", and hopefully he doesn't try to do so himself again and pretty much admit to someone he's warp tainted... or whatever this games equivalent is.
Y'all have no idea how hard this made me laugh!
Rhaen I miss Dark Heresy.
Oh god the memories. Shame that show had such long pauzes screwing with the continuity and stopped way too soon.
The only problem with the session was that they rolled a 2 on an engagement roll and started in a risky situation instead of desperate.

John really looks like Davos Seaworth.
0:27 - geoff's being distracted by a wild mousecursor
Expert Assassins.
the old man walks up to Wheat's character and says "do you like rat tacos?"

This is the worst time not to be subscribed to JP on twitch :/
The end though!

I would think you have the right of it but I'm kind of glad they didn't. I don't see this particular NPC as very inclined to do that.

resistance is what sort of undoes bad rolls as far as I understand, but even then I think the fiction sorta stands as it's established
what software/chat program are they chatting/playing on?
google hangouts for the call itself and roll20 for playing
The chances of rolling a 2 with 4 d6 is 1.157% XD
Is I only me or does John look like Tim Curry?
Thomas Bonham I think so too!
Goddamn Anne's hair is fucking beautiful! Kreygasm
Was that a Life Is Strange reference? 11/10
this system seems familiar to FATE
There is like less than 30 minutes of actual role play in this entire first week...
their not that bad of guys

NeoDaedalus it's their first session dude... chill out.

plus harper said this first mission would be more linear. they can go do whatever they want after it.
This game is shit compared to Shadowrun.
You're trying to compare modern Cyberpunk to Lovecraftian Steam? Are you mad?
Your waifu is shit
More than likely a troll.
I guess if you hate fun...
You're entitled to your opinion even though it's shit compared to my opinion 😉
