- We're finally in Taiwan, a country we've been so excited to visit! On our first day in the bustling capital Taipei we walked around, absorbed the atmosphere and visited the city's main sights. We managed to experience two of Taiwan's famous dishes - Xiao Long Bao (soup dumplings) at Michelin star winning restaurant Din Tai Fung, and the delicious beef noodle soup!

We are so excited to finally share our series from Taiwan, a place we have wanted to visit for a long time! We very quickly fell in love with it and it has become one of our favourite places yet with it’s delicious cuisine, amazing landscapes and super friendly people. We hope you enjoy watching along! ☺️
You are lucky, weather has not been too hot lately so makes traveling much more nice. Sometimes it can already be hot this time of year!! Cold, not that much to worry about here...
@@erbiumfiber Yes! Being from the UK we are not used to extreme heat. We prefer a mild warm temperature when we're travelling or we overheat 🥵😅
I am glad Taipei made a great first impression on you, It is fantastic and great to see fellow Brits come and check it out as I have been screaming how great Taiwan is ever since moving here, also happy to see the prices in pound, I subscribed for that alone, but I really enjoyed your vlog, no pretentious bullshit and seemed really down to earth like all Scousers I have ever met. If that beef noodle place you went to is just a bit out of Ximen shopping area, I have ate there a lot when I used to live around there. About accommodation room sizes, no matter what kind of room you book here be it a hostel, hotel, or air b and b it is all likely to be small. Enjoy Taiwan (I am sure you will)
It really did ☺️ We have wanted to visit for a while and we’re glad we did, even if only for a few weeks! We have not stopped raving about it to other travellers because it’s so often overlooked! For us, it’s got everything - incredible food, landscapes, friendly locals and it’s very affordable for backpackers too. It’s a place we can’t stop thinking about and we 100% will return one day soon!
Thank you for the kind comments that means a lot! And we’re glad you enjoyed the video too, here’s to hoping Taiwan starts to get the love it deserves from travellers around the world! 🥰
@@jamieandhannah_ one of the biggest things that seems to stand out to people who come here is the nature. People are often shocked that you could be hiking a mountain in the morning, sat on a beach in the afternoon and probably find a hot spring in the evening. If you ever come back you should check out the south. It’s amazing but for such a small country the south has a totally different vibe and it never gets cold.
@@donmaarko Yeah that's very true, it's such a diverse country. One our favourite things was the train journeys between cities, they were so scenic and the trains are so comfortable and spacious! Those bento boxes too 😋
We definitely want to visit the southern areas now that so many people have recommended it in the comments!
Welcome to Taiwan !!! enjoy your food scenery and people of Taiwan.
Thank you! We fell in love with Taiwan very quickly, it has so much to offer. And the Taiwanese are so friendly and helpful, we felt so welcome! Thanks for watching! ☺️
I am very happy that Taiwan became part of your trip, and I hope you have a pleasant experience here.
We have always wanted to visit Taiwan and now it’s become one of our favourite countries ever! We had an amazing experience and would love to come back in the future. Thank you for watching 😊
@@jamieandhannah_ 👏👏✨✨👍👍
Taiwan has one of the nicest people in the world. Hope you guys gets to experience that too. The friendliness and helpfulness of the Taiwanese is famous among other Asian countries.
We definitely experienced that! Everybody we met was so friendly 😍
Welcome to Taiwan😉
Thank you so much, we love Taipei and can’t wait to explore more of Taiwan! We’ve had such a warm welcome so far, hope you enjoyed the video! ☺️
Welcome to Taiwan. Watch the cars and scooters, and enjoy the food and hospitality!
Thank you so much!
Great video! There are three Din Tai Fung in central London but not as good and way too expensive. Hope you had a great time in Taiwan!
I bet the ones in London are super expensive!! We would come back to Taiwan just for theirs 🤣 Thanks for watching!!
Thought they are proud of their quality control and all Ding Tai Feng shall service the food of the same quality.
Thank you for introducing Taiwan. I hope you will have the opportunity to explore again. I look forward to being our guest.
Thanks!! We’d love to have a much longer trip in Taiwan at some point in the future! So much to explore ☺️
So happy you can visit Taiwan ❤
Enjoy yourself 🍱🥟🧋
Thank you so much, we feel so grateful to be able to visit and experience it all! It’s been an amazing trip! Glad you enjoyed the video! 🥰
@@jamieandhannah_ Looking forward to the next Vlog in Taiwan ♥️💯
enjoy in Taiwan thank u
We loved Taiwan, we’re very grateful we got to visit and see the country! We will be back, it has been one of our favourite trips so far 😁
@@jamieandhannah_ thank you love Taiwan we love Sweet people too
i fell out of my chair when i heard you say Chiang Kai Shek right lmao. from where you started, there's a metro station that takes you directly to XiMenDing, no need to walk 30 minutes haha. welcome to taiwan!
The national theater and the concert hall are modeled after the imperial architecture in Beijing’s Forbidden City, ie, residence of the Chinese emperors.
Ahh really! That’s likely why we assumed it was a historical monument, it looks very close to the real thing! Thanks for letting us know, they were so cool to see ☺️
Love from india ..hannah Jamie..❤❤❤👍👍👍Enjoying your vlog..
Thank you so much, glad you enjoyed!
Welcome to Taiwan. 🇹🇼❤️
Love from India ❣️
❤
Wellcome to Taiwan.
Is Taiwan has to touch your heart!
Thank you, we’ve had such a great time in Taiwan! ❤️
Absolutely fun to watch you guys checking out Taiwan 👍 👍
Thank you glad you’re enjoying them! We’re so glad we got to visit, Taiwan really blew us away! Amazing place with so much to offer ☺️
Welcome ❤😊
Taiwan love you 😊
Taiwan have many mountains.
Don't always stay in city.😊
Hello! That’s very kind, we love Taiwan! We visited Eastern Taiwan, Hualien and Taroko national park…the mountains are so beautiful! Thank you for watching ❤️
Fun fact: Michelin stars are awarded to each restaurant. Therefore only one of the Hong Kong branches had been awarded a Michelin Star, and the rest have not.
Thank you for showing my amazing homecity!
We loved Taipei!
Welcome to Taiwan! You guys walked past the high school I went to 40 years ago. 😊 Do go to the Southern and Eastern part of Taiwan. In my opinion, the south and east are more genuine Taiwan and the north is more Chinese-influnced.
Wow really! That’s another thing we noticed about Taiwan actually, so many young kids and families everywhere, it was lovely to see! We also visited Hualien and Taichung, we loved the east especially…it was extremely beautiful. The view from the train window alone was incredible! ☺️
歡迎來台灣 ,,
谢谢 🥰 we love Taiwan, glad you enjoyed the video!!
I`m a Taiwanese living in Chester, UK, good introduction to the food. Like your video
Oh wow, that’s great! What brought you to the UK if you don’t mind us asking? Thank you, we’re so glad you enjoyed! 😁
Good eat and go around.
We definitely had fun ☺️ Thanks for watching!
Welcome to Taiwan!
Thank you, we’re loving it! 🥰
Have fun. There’s so much good foods here. Some you can try are braised pork on rice, fried dumplings, fried rice, Taiwanese burger in gongwan. Taiwanese breakfast rocks as well. Try the dan bing with bacon. It’s good. Have a nice trip.
Thanks for the recommendations, they sound delicious! Thanks for watching 😁
so glad you enjoyed your first day in Taiwan...you'll love the night market street food in Taipei...I guarantee it
Thank you, we really loved exploring Taipei, it was great first day in Taiwan! We have just uploaded a video where we visited Raohe night market! We loved the food! Thanks for watching 😁
You came a long way for Din Tai Fung, there is one in Covent Garden in London.
Hahaha, but it was SO worth it 😉
Yougkang Beef Noodle is right at Dongman area, MRT redline exit 4 or 5. There are a lot of places to eat, try the mango shaved ice!
@@ireneevans3974 we saw shaved ice everywhere!! Must try that next time 😁
Welcome ! Have a good trip!🇹🇼
welcome ~
Thank you 🙏 🇹🇼
Welcome to Taiwan. Hope you enjoy everything.
We certainly did! Thank you 🙏
I stayed at dongmen 3 just a few weeks ago. The original first Ding Tai Fung location is actually around the corner from the hostel!
Oh really!! Is it still open or was this just the original store?
@@jamieandhannah_ it’s still opened! But obviously they’ve made updates to it since. Service is 10/10!
Welcome to Taiwan ❤
Thanks! 🙏 We love it!

Thank you so much, we love Taiwan!
Enjoy your trip in Taipei!
Thanks we love it!! Wish we had longer!
Welcome to Taiwan
Thank you! We love Taiwan 🇹🇼
很高興你們喜歡台灣,我們也很歡迎你們
That beef noodle is famous but definitely not the best. I would argue it probably can't make top 5 but it's super affordable and indeed delicious. By the way, Din tai fung also has pretty good beef noodle soup.
It depends on which restaurants you go to. Some beef noodles are great.
It is like Japanese ramen. It depends on where you eat.
Oh we didn’t actually consider the beef noodles at Din Tai Fung! We had tunnel vision with the soup dumplings I think haha. Yeah the place we went was delicious and so affordable, we would love to try lots more different places. I bet there are many variations too!
Is that the Scouse accent I'm hearing? lol anyway, glad you visiting my country and I actually base in Leeds. Good to see you documenting such excursion :)
It is!! We’re from Liverpool 😁 Glad you’re enjoying them and thanks so much!
❤
Thanks for watching 🥰
Fantastic video!
What is the name of the Beef Noodle Restaurant?
Thank you! 🙏 it was called 'Fuhong Beef Noodles'
The buildings are beautiful❤❤ can’t wait to see your tik tok dances 😂😂
Aren’t they! Hahaha ngl we were tempted to do some of our own 😆
Nice video! I’m in Nanjing, China and Xiaolongbao is one of my favorite dishes. It’s easy to end up burning yourself or getting soup everywhere though as we don’t usually use a spoon 😂
Oh cool! Is is customary to eat it without a spoon in China? I can see how it can burn that way haha but so much more satisfying I bet! Xiaolongbao is one of the best things we’ve eaten since we started travelling, so so tasty! Thanks for watching 😁
@@jamieandhannah_British Chinese here. Using spoon with Xiaolong Bao is perfectly okay- in fact it is considered a bit posh 😂. People from different part of China (and Taiwan) have different habits and custom in different part of regions, so never right or wrong - no need to feel embarrassed.
@@davenobody407 ahh, that's good to know! Thanks 😁
@@jamieandhannah_ it is really tasty 🙂 haha yeah, I’m not sure whether it’s customary but I’ve been served it many times with no spoon here in Nanjing.
I’m really enjoy your vlog! I’m from Taiwan South city called Kaohsiung! You should check out here! I’m from here too!
You are lovely couple ! I love Britain! ❤❤
Have a great trip! I really wish I can help you with my car and take you around this entire island!
Hey! So glad you enjoyed it! We looked into Kaohsiung and although we didn’t have time to visit during this trip, it’s definitely on our list for next time! It looks beautiful, it’s in southern Taiwan, right?
@@jamieandhannah_ yes it is! Many foreigners love kaohsiung! They can’t tell why they love about here! It’s strange!
Aborigines people from taidong or huallien are very interesting! It’s like Scottish or wales 🏴 people! But they live here for thousand years already! Respect 🫡
@@user-mt2fs3vo8p we visited Hualien and also Taichung! At sun moon lake we saw the traditional dancing of the aborigines, it was nice to see! We definitely want to come back to Taiwan in the future so we will make sure to visit Kaohsiung next time 🥰 thanks for watching!
@Jamie and Hannah As a local Taiwanese, i'd say Taipei city is the biggest China-town out of China, 🤣. So if you want to experience the real Taiwanese culture, To visit the southern area is a better choice .
@@chaoweichien thanks for the tip! Every country we go to, we seem to leave thinking "we wish we had longer there!"... but, it makes us excited to return 🙂
You missed the fried rice
We missed a lot of amazing foods I bet…too much for one night of eating but we will be back!! We loved it 😊
Northern Irish?
We’re actually from Liverpool, North West of England. However we do have deep historical roots with Ireland, so many of us are of Irish descent ☺️ We share some similarities in that respect!
Xi Pooh liked this video
Glad you enjoyed! ☺️
Just curious, are the two of you Scottish or Irish? Your accents sounds more Scottish or Irish than British.
We're from Liverpool, England. You're not the first person who has thought we're Irish or Scottish though 😂
