@Tylerjackson1065 Get a later C4 with high mileage and a straight body. That's what I did 4 weeks ago. It was cheap. You can have so much fun. If you don't buy one, you'll kick yourself in the butt 10 or 20 years from now. These cars need to be saved. You can have a fun project car. Put $5k into it a year, if in a budget, and before you know it, the car will be your dream car and worth tons of cash. Look at the price of the C2 Corvettes.... Out of reach for guys in their 60s and 70s that could have bought one 20 years ago... Super expensive. They get parted out so fast over time. Trust me. Get it before you regret it. These cars were ahead of their time. Amazing design and engineering. Nice short wheelbase, gives you a feeling that the newer cars cannot! Trust me.
I bought a new 1994 LT1 automatic. My first pass at the drag strip was 14.05. I continued to bracket race it twice a week for the next two years. During the first six months it got faster and faster; eventually getting down to 13.02 @ 109.50! 1.80 sixty foots were the norm. It was completely bone stock with 2.76 gears and the factory Goodyear tires. Nobody at The Brotherhood Raceway on Terminal Island in Los Angeles could believe how it ran. It was a remarkable car! Wish I still had it. By the way.....I had 870 time slips!!
Dude subscribed last video but your pitch at the beginning of this one was hilarious! Thanks for having a great sense of humor! I am a fellow C4 owner 1994 Base 6 Speed Manual as well. I used to not think too much about these cars until I owned one and have since fallen in love. Hindsight wish I had a LT4 but I might go ahead and modify the LT1. Fun to watch the 1/4 mile run!
Haha thank you! And thank you for subscribing! Nothing wrong with a LT1, go check out lloyd elliot parts and you will see how crazy you can make your car for 2 grand. About 400whp.
My lt4 C4 ran 13.49 at 106 on a race track. On the street, I probably would not be much faster than you went because that was its best run out of six the only day I ever took it to the track. Still fast enough to have some fun!
Hey Matt! Super cool video. Congrats on 1K!!! Also, dont be too hard on that C4 - mid 13's was a hell of a car in the mid 90's - that was near super car/exotic performance. You're right, that car with a better 60ft and driven in anger could get low 13's.
I would be happy, considering you weren't abusing the clutch and shifts. My 96 lt4 ce with red interior has 55k on it. Has fikse fm5 wheels, ram clutch, zf doc built zf6, corsa with no resonator. Only things I want to do next, power wise, is lt4 hotcam and longtubes.

I own a '91 ZR1 and it'll still throw down with many modern muscle cars, but will get smoked by most newer Vettes. However, I didn't buy it to go out and street race other cars. I bought it because I'm a classic car enthusiast and the ZR1s are very rare nowadays. Even though it turns heads everywhere, the most attention it gets is at car shows because most people have never seen one or know anything about them. Now to your LT-4.....please, absolutely whatever you do, KEEP IT!! Not only are C4s rightfully going back up in value, the '96 LT-4s are gems. That engine was one of the most badass, true small-block Chevys ever built and since it was the last year of the C4, they will skyrocket in value within the next decade.
I agree man, it isnt fair to the car to compare it to the newer stuff. Compared to other 1996 stuff, it's plenty fast. Someday I will have a ZR1 like yours parked next to it.
Yeah , they aren't a rocket but beat most cars in 96. They are fun to drive. Only made 3550 of the base model. Mine is bone stock 53k, gets 26mpg on the road and really sticks in the twisties.
I bought this car in March 30th of this year for $15,000. It had brand new rear tires, and 10 year old front tires. I bought front tires to match the rear tires. The front is lowered on a VBP lowering spring, so I lowered the rear to match with vansteel bolts. As of today it is at the local chevy dealer getting 4 new Bilstein B8 shocks, front inner and outer tie rods, upper and lower ball joints, rear outer tie rods, both rear wheel bearing/hub assemblies, and finally a 4 wheel alignment. After all that I will have a tick over 20k into the car. I'm a bit deep into it, and I don't think I can get that back out, but it's a really clean no option 63k mile car. The plan is to keep enjoying it. I actually sold my scat pack challenger to move back into a C4, there's a video on my channel highlighting that. Feel free to subscribe for more LT4 stuff to come!
Sounds About Right, 100% On the Money When It Was New in 96 Performance Test from Motor Week & Car & Driver Clocks all the Same, It Just Adds up to A Healthy LT4

5.7 sounds slow for 0-60 but was there any traction issues? You mentioned it was misting? Plus that annoying skip shift can make shifting quickly a pain. I think my biggest reservation on the C4 is ingress and egress is pretty challenging. I am over 50 but still slim and rather limber.
I think it was my soft launch and my slow shifting. I think it would do a 5.2 in the right conditions. 5.7 was also without 1ft rollout. With 1ft it was 5.4
I understand you I had a C5 LS1 I wanted to see 500 horsepower to the wheels but my friend told me I might as well get a faster one how much money I'm going to put into the seaside to make 500 to 550 but I think you should keep that car because it's legendary all Corvettes are legendary I just get a c6z that's what I have now keep the videos coming cuz I will be watching
@mattquerio Thanks, man. I love my car. Your car is incredible! Beautiful. Very impressive. I'm just starting to restore my car. New bushings, decent brakes. Just got new tires and a rebuilt steering column. Lots of little things. TMTL. 1 or 2 things at a time....These cars deserve to be saved.
Not bad about what I expected. With a good 60 ft I would think low 13.4-13.5 is very possible. Your old Scat would eat it in a straight line acceleration . Your C4 would eat the Scat in the curves for sure. Lol Bigger cam, headers, tune for the LT4 and the Scat is in the rear view mirror easy. But I know that’s not your goal. Appreciate the video 👍
A well prepped track would help your 60 ft time. Drag radials would be a huge help also. These cars respond well to mods, cam alone would put you over 400hp. I enjoyed modding my 95 LT1 as much as the track time.
I agree, a sticky track would get me down to 2.0 and that would get me a 13.50 or better. I'd love to warm the car up and make some power. Maybe with time.
I find that if you turn off the ASR, sorta blip the throttle off idle let out the clutch while you put your foot into it will get you a great launch. Sweet ride. They are faster than most things on the road and will give 350zs and 370zs a run for their money.
I assume it had the G92 performance axle ratio. That's pretty good for a LT1 auto. The Mph should have been around 101 or so on that car. That was very fast in 1995.
@@mattquerio I'm not sure, my friend picked it up new the week before from dealer inventory. A manual 95 z/28 was running around 14.10 the same night. It was significantly slower. Waiting in line he told us he had us whipped for sure with that manual transmission. I never thought the LTI got the respect it deserved.
It sounded like it bogged a little on the launch so maybe a little higher rpm (maybe 2800) would help the 60 ft time. Then you had to shift to second before 60 mph so that hurts quite a bit also. If you would power shift to second and third gear it wouldn't be that much of a strain on the drivetrain in the lower gears and should help the et in the quarter mile. Then in the higher gears you could lift when you shift and it probably wouldn't make hardly any difference in the time since by then you have momentum going for you. Remember the trap speed at end of the quarter is the indicator of how much power you are making. Nice car though and I wouldn't make too many modifications and keep it as original as possible or make it easy to change it back.

From a Chevy dealer, Bought a 2 yr old 96 LT4 6spd, never beat it, maybe the PREV owner did. Completely stock. I kept the car, had another cam and lifters put in it. Should have done it myself. When they pulled the water pump, the OptiSpark apparently got wet. It failed a few weeks later from corrosion and it cost me $800 more. Kept it until we planned to move on a 2 mile gravel road and traded it. Then ended up not moving. Too many bad decisions.
Not in 1996. You can't judge a 30 year old car by today's standards. It's capable of a 13.40@106. If you were alive then and of an age to know cars, you know that was a fast new car.

Skip shift shouldn’t affect a pull since it disables after you pass a certain rpm
