Wow, Timothy! Lake Lure, NC, is so beautiful and serene, and the mountain views are simply spectacular! That floral walking path and those beautiful gardens are simply awesome! Walking through there is so uplifting and blissful. As for Beatrix Potter, she was one of the world's best-selling and best-loved children's authors. Timothy, I know you are aware of "The Tale of Peter Rabbit"; it is a children's book that Miss Potter wrote and illustrated that follows mischievous and disobedient young Peter Rabbit as he gets into, and is chased around, the garden of Mr. McGregor. He escapes and returns home to his mother, who puts him to bed after offering him chamomile tea. Mr. McGregor's Garden, along that floral walking path, pays homage to this book. This was such a fabulous walking tour! Thank you, Mr. French for this video!

They filmed a few scenes from dirty dancing on the north tip near rumbling bald golf course. They used one of the greens on the golf course as the putting green in the movie. The stair case is still there that Baby danced up but its hard to see from the lake. I think at one time it was part of boys scout camp, not sure on that. Also on the golf course there is a creek where they filmed the scene of them balancing on the tree across the creek.

Thanks for all the movie info. Too bad you can’t get to the staircase to take some pictures. And I didn’t realize they shot the tree scene there.

We come up to Chimney Rock once a year from Asheville area. The flowering bridge in Lake Lure is one of my favorite things about that area. I’ve heard that there is a rainbow bridge somewhere underneath or around the flowering bridge where people come to put their pet’s collars and leashes . Pets that have passed away can be memorialized there and people can go there to grieve their loss. I hope to see it one day. Another thing I hope to see one day is the Dirty Dancing Festival they have there that runs either in month August or September (it’s one of those).

Thanks for sharing. I have not heard of the rainbow bridge for pets. I will have to see if I can learn more.

I'm very familiar with lake lure our family came here many times back in the 70's I was here last 4th of July and it was very crowded. They were talking about expanding where you first wind into town to 4 lanes and where you first started walking on the stone path would be a lane of traffic and which would ruin the appeal of the area! In the off season like it is now it's just not needed. Population has doubled since the 70's and now it's more about squeezing every last tourist dollars out of the people instead. it's ashame they can't keep people visiting year round because in the off season it looks dead. They have been in "transition for years! It's still a beautiful place to visit. Next time I come it'll be about this time of the year. Great job 👍 enjoyed this video!

Thank you for the local info, David. I hope they never widen the road.
A lot of people have forgotten how to unwind in a place like this, choosing instead to go to to touristy places like Pigeon Forge and Gathering which got 4 lane’d, over priced, and stressful in my opinion.
The traffic in Pigeon Forge looks like a rush hour drive sometimes.
People seem to love it though.

They drain it down from time to time for repairs.

There’s no possibility to make it a four lane.

Tim our family is looking for a conservative god fearing American loving town in NC. Not woke or libtard. Suggestions would be great.

I don’t have enough demographics information for each town to answer that question. However, in general, towns located in rural counties seem to be more conservative.

All due respect, when have you ever seen a four lane built through a mountain.. town of less then 4,000 people.. why.. when where.. tell us.. It doesn't happen.. I get what you're saying and yes change does often end with unwanted results. But let's not put the cart before the horse Bubba,, BTW I am pretty sure you and I are close in age,, I can assure you if that four lane you worry about ever does happen we will have been off this planet for decades,.
