Come on Mike. It isn't bad at all. This is what your channel is supposed to demonstrate. Your Subs learn watching your videos. Start the repairs and stop procrastinating...
Here in Germany you don't find the S210 wagons in such a good condition anymore. Most of them are rusted away. From this point of view, I really would love to see you fixing it and bringing it back on the road.
In India we don’t even treat it as salvage, just a little dent!! Definitely need to be done. Secondly hat’s off to the original owner for keeping it so nice.
Mike, you should definitely try to fix it. You need to strip the other side down for a comparison. You've got the tools. At the end of the day it is just bent metal that needs straightening out. It can be done. I'm looking forward to the next instalment.
If you want to keep the car then jerry rig a pull out of the damaged metal using an engine hoist, heat and a hammer to tap out the damaged metal while lifting that part upwards to a point the fender will sit correctly. It may also staighten the radiator support somewhat at the point the front fender attaches. It is an over all nice/cheap car and an A to B get parts with vehicle.
I think you’re right, this car was saved from a pull-a-part yard where they put on a new side window and they didn’t clean very well the inside from the broken glass. Anyway do some backyard engineering, pull it and hammer it back in shape and slap a "new" junkyard fender/hood/bumper/headlight on it. That apron isn’t critical as a frame rail so I wouldn’t worry too much about it if I have to use the car myself. In case of selling just disclose the damage.
I think taking it to a collision shop for an estimate, and some suggestions on different ways to approach the repair, would help people gain insight into how a repair like this can be accomplished. Plus you get video content! Win win!
Beautiful car ! Fix but do it correctly. Pull off the broken parts to where all of them are removed and do a proper cut and replace of the unibody parts so that the next owner has a properly repaired car. These wagons are harder and harder to find in that condition. The dead mouse is gross and offensive a turn off in an otherwise great video
Save. Should be an easy fix once you strip the parts off. If you change your mind once it's stripped then take it to a body shop just to straighten it out. Shouldn't cost to much. But before starting this process look up the door, fender bumper to see if they are readily available in that colour and cost. Name. Obviously Lucy. Lucy in the sky with diamonds (glass inside)
IMHO I think she is worth saving, it looks lik3 a relatively easy fix! You cant beat that beautiful interior shes in really good shape!!.... name her Duklola. 😂😂... Stay Up Mr Goodwrench Mike.....🔥🔥🔥❤️👍🏽💯
Mike fix it man we the viewers know your more than capable man so with that said pls get it done we the viewers want to see you get it done man its interesting its conrent and its gonna be worth the time fella just take your time man pls we will watch like share and definitely watch every step of it id source the parts from salvage if you can im sure that's definitely possible if in colour much better we with you mike, oh by the way was watching you and randy's power tour vids on A,A,R shame that the transmission failed on the SS man but both of you appeared to be in good spirits despite what happened man, good luck with this car mike big thumbs up fella from north waled Uk!.. ✨👌✨👌✨👍👍👍
Even if the damages too much you could strip it for parts and make your money back you would easily double your money on the parts for the interior but if you can fix it cheap enough to put it back on the road it'll be a lovely car and you could call it scrappy which I think would be a good name for this vehicle thank you from classical bikes
Martha would be a good name, my grandmother was Martha and she was a Tuff old lady, got hit by a bus going to church back in the early 60's, got fixed up and kept going.
Just reading the comments, and I totally agree. Everyone is saying she's a keeper Mike!! Maybe Santa could be a help with the frame, take some good pics and a video and send them to him, get his opinion. You really need to get underneath her and see if there's other hidden damage though.
I would say that minor damage Get some prices for body pannels and for body shop to straiten the fender arch Then send car to Randys paint shop Maco Keep the car its worth fixing it and once fixed and you want to sell it im sure you will make a profit You can do it We are your biggest fans
You can fix it for sure! I definitely would if it were my car! Line up everything the best you can and go with it. I have done many over the years. Take your time and think it out. It can be done! Don't waste a nice car!
Mike... I've got an '05 W211 E320 wagon/estate too (the later version of your '02 W210). I spend too much to keep it on the road, but I took it to my son's destination wedding last summer as part of a 3,000 mile road trip. These are some of the very best cars ever built! You can do this, buddy. Good luck from a long time fan in Ottawa, Canada!
Yes Mike,, fix this awesome car. It is in good condition and those things what you need to do it is just a little more cosmetic things.. But you can try to do first your self. Then if you need some other help i guess Santa can help as well... We are with you. Don´t quit. :)
I personally use Son of a gun protectant and Meguiars is wonderful, I will never use Armor All ever again after what it did to the leather in my Cadillac Good Job Mike 👍
Mike you can’t make the car any worse attempting to fix it yourself. I respect that you’re considering giving it a go. It was already totaled and there’s well into the thousands in parts if you stripped and sold it off. Before you buy any parts and possibly burn that cash I think you should take the bumper, pass headlamp and fender off then use the other side for symmetry to straighten the inner fender. If you can get it to measure up decently close to the other side, cut off and replace the upper radiator support and go from there.
While applying upward pressure on that corner, heat the metal with a propane torch and push the metal inward. Definitely worth fixing with a little effort. If I were in Oklahoma we could do it in one afternoon.
Please save her, and call her "Brunhilda !!!!!!!!! From an old fan in Sunny London Town. And tell Lola that Willow from London (born in County Kilkenny, Ireland) says !woof woof !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Worth saving for sure. What I would likely do is disconnect the other side fender panel to get idea where the connectors are supposed to be. Take a picture of it to give you idea. For some reason Ellenore comes to my mind for the car's name.
Mike, Mike, Mike. In the 80s in high school I pulled my frame rail straight using a manual winch from harbor freight and a cable wrapped around the column between my mom's garage doors! She's already got a salvage title so the boneyard is just going to rob you for it anyway. So fix her up. Also, I have a 96 E320 diesel in the fleet with 226k she's like a comfortable old pair of shoes but gets 34mpg and 700 miles per tank. And her name is BERTA. I leave her sitting for 6 months on a battery tender and she always fires up. Berta is an even better moniker for your pretty lady there! Being a big girl ya know. Cheers and thanks for your videos: entertaining, interesting and educational! We appreciate you!🙂 -John
Save. Not sure whether its practical for you to do so, but what would be personally gratifying for me would be to see you cut, or have someone cut that whole inner section off a junkyard wagon. You could then, in theory, drill out all the weld points of the damaged section on this wagon, extract the entire section and attempt to spot weld its replacement to the appropriate bits. Probably asking a bit much there. Get a replacement fender and other bits. Have MAACO or someone equally cheap paint the replacement fender to match.
Mikey, you said you can use a jack to push the connecting corner of the fender and radiator support ( 12:30 ), I think it won't work ! Instead, I think it would be better if you drill a hole, insert with screws and pull it upwards and try to reinstate the original shape as much as you can OR take it to body shop and let them pull it out for you ..... Just a small suggestion.
Would love to see you or a frame shop only pull out and straighten the damage and you put it all back together. The color combo is fantastic. Remember to check the coolant and oil level Mike.
Mike. Your edits are getting so much better. Speeding up some of the process of dismantled items has increased the watchability. Keeps folks watching without losing interest so fast. Love this build. Nice car. Cheers my friend. Save it. Let's call it MOM / everyone loves mom . She's gracious and beautiful
Absolutely worth saving!! Just sit down, take a deep breath and I know you’ll figure out how to pull out the crinkled parts. You got this Mike! I had a very similar problem on my SLK230
Hello Mike! First of all, congratulations on your video clip! As regards the Mercedes, save it and enjoy it as long as you can! As regards the name to be given to the car, I suggest naming it "Phoenix". You're going to make her a beautiful queen of the road again. See you in your next video! Cheers. 😉
Mike, don't over think it. Its very fixable. You don't need a condenser if its not leaking. If your plan is to use it for general running around it doesn't need to be perfect. Start by taking out the plastic tanks so they don't get broken. Put a jack between the tire and the end of the apron and start jacking it up and see where it gets you. Most of that radiator support can be bent back into place enough to get parts to fit well enough to work. Get a fender, hood, headlight and bumper cover and bend things around until they fit. Its really not that bad your just over thinking it. Remember it just needs to look good from 20 feet.. your not going to enter it into car shows or anything. You can do it no problem. ✌
Save it I think you can fix it it won’t be perfect but you always do a good job. I’ve purchased 2 totaled vehicles from auction and I fixed both as a hobby and still drive one daily
Fix it! Maybe find an inner fender section from a yard. Santa might be up for a trip to see you and spot it back in, or you can buy the pinch welder from HF for those front spots to the core support if everything else is bolt-on.
Always took mine 2 a well known local body shop with the new parts 2 be fitted , usually wasn’t over few hundred 2R3 👍the proper alignment was worth it 😊
Well worth fixing. I’d take it to a body shop and get the frame straightened then bring it back home and start replacing what you need to replace. You want the frame to be in specs as a major safety issue in case if another collision
Mike…. Fit it. If a guy with no bodywork back ground can do it then there is hope for us all. Just do your best. If you have an issue, maybe contact 23 garage for a collaboration. That might be pretty cool. Yuri is amazing on that frame machine. You and Randy can do a road trip. Something to think about
Definitely fix this e320 wagon. It is worth it. From the sounds you were making, you have a porta power. That will make things work great. Move those 2 reservoirs to one side then remove the front wheel so you can see better. Then start using the porta power to straighten.
From the looks of the damage, I think the car ran up under something (probably a jacked up pickup, lol) and caused the damage to go downwards at about a 4 o'clock to "half past 4" direction as you're looking at it from the driver's side. It's very similar to a tectonic plate diagram at a fault line where one plate submerges beneath another. You just happened to buy the "submissive plate." To pull the body back out, I suggest to go *upwards* to between 10 and 11 o'clock.
I just love this car. Fixing mechanical is one thing, body work is a different ball game altogether. With DIY you may not achieve the perfect job the car deserves.
Hi Mike, Please Absolutely Save it because with your skill set you could fix it standing on your head it would be a wonderful parts run about and if something goes wrong down the line just put the engine in Janice.
Have you looked at that corner from underneath? I’d say save it, but just to hedge your bets measure the engine and transmission to see if it might fit Janice in case the body parts are too costly.
Fix it Mike. Just take your time. We will watch.
You can fix it Mike if you can’t the duck can!!
Hey randy
I bet Santa would agree Randy
Hahaha :))
Fix it, fix it
yeah men
Yeah. A 25k for sure car

Fix her Mike! We believe in you! You're the Mercedes guru! You definitely find the diamonds in the rough that are worth saving!
In India we don’t even treat it as salvage, just a little dent!! Definitely need to be done. Secondly hat’s off to the original owner for keeping it so nice.
Well said
Mike save the wagon. You have the power! Santa and Randy can help!
Fix it Mike, take your time. It's a very good example of a wagon. My self I'm going to think of her as Betty.
Please try to keep Janice original, Mike, she deserves it!
Save it Mike. I will definitely watch, but then again I always watch all your videos except the e bikes.

Fix it Mike. You got this.

Get it pulled straight then do the rest, best option, lovely car.well worth saving

It's nothing to think about. Of course you'll fix it. Remove the right front fender and compare how it should look like.👍😎
was thinking the same
Same here 👍
I would seek the advice of Santa Mike!!!
Save it!!! It's a gem that needs to be saved!!
Don’t use a crow bar. Just a few simple pulls in the right place.
I think you’re right, this car was saved from a pull-a-part yard where they put on a new side window and they didn’t clean very well the inside from the broken glass.

You can save this car Mike! Benzo is supporting his Benz Vibe. Bone yard search for a hood, fender, door needed underpinnings ... and Gopher-it!
I think it is definitely worth saving--not many of the W210 wagons are left in that condition and that would be great content.
Fix it! Maybe find an inner fender section from a yard. Santa might be up for a trip to see you and spot it back in, or you can buy the pinch welder from HF for those front spots to the core support if everything else is bolt-on.
Mike - fix it the best you can and keep it until it doesn’t run anymore. 😊

I love the old Mercedes interior.

Keep the jumper pack connected when taking the battery off to replace it. Or put a temporary junker

Hi Mike, Please Absolutely Save it because with your skill set you could fix it standing on your head it would be a wonderful parts run about and if something goes wrong down the line just put the engine in Janice.
I vote to save “The Professor”
Ronald Finger has a video covering how he DIYed similar damage on a salvage Tiburon.
Have you looked at that corner from underneath? I’d say save it, but just to hedge your bets measure the engine and transmission to see if it might fit Janice in case the body parts are too costly.
That is a couple hours of hammer beating a cover fender and some creativity with the bracketry around the headlight
