Mr. Mike you can weld. Just jump in and do it. The little mig welders are not too expensive and will do a great job of replacing little spot welds. The flexcore type are less expensive and will get the job done. The gas type mig welders will produce a nicer weld, not as much splattering. Your welds will not be pretty at first but the more you practise the better it will get. The number one thing to remember, you can't weld to rust, an angle grinder is your friend. You want to mimic the little factory spot welds. Drill a 1/4" hole in the front piece of metal. Use vice grips type welding clamps to hold the bottom piece of metal tight against the top piece. Then weld down through the hole into the bottom piece of metal, filling in the complete hole. To start with make up some practice pieces of metal to weld on, grind off all the rust and paint in the area your are welding on. The idea is to get the welding wire down into the hole, weld to the bottom piece of metal to start with. You will be able to see where to move the wand after you strike the arc. You will be able to dial in the wire feed speed and amperage setting of the welder on this test piece. Get a good automatic helmet and keep your head covered. Wear only cotton clothes, no synthetics! I recommend some old leather high topped boots and put your pants legs over the boot tops, you don't want a ball of hot metal jumping into your boot! Leather gloves are a must if you can't stand a little pain :) You have made a great start working with sheet metal body parts, welding is not that hard.

@@MonkeyWrenchMike Don't get frustrated, take your time to learn and ask for help. One of my old friends was a professional welder. He wouldn't touch a carpentry job. He said he could always weld on a new piece of steel if he made a mistake, unlike the carpenter if he cut a board too short.

you can buy a inexpensive flux core welder (inverter type) for under 200 bux and just pratice

Mike if you bought a wire feed welder, you could practice on some of those old fenders, and/ or take a coarse at a local trade school. You will really enjoy having that skill.

Hello there cowboy here again just a suggestion you may want to buy a hand held steamer cleaner for cleaning up these car's like this one it'll get all that sticky mess out of the foam as well as clean out all the stinky from the ducts it's also great for cleaning carpets and appostory plus it disinfects

As a German i have to vote for the original choise. This style reminds of the 90's in Germany; the ice cold banktowers in Frankfurt am Main, where those E-Classes were everywere around. It reminds me of the Munich Taxi cab drivers (who still spoke bavarian back in the days btw.) in their 90hp E220 Diesel. It reminds me of a traffic free Autobahn back then, when a buisnessman in his Boss Suit (which was high quality those days, not fast fashion as today) could drive from Düsseldorf to Frankfurt in under 2 hours in his brand new E420! Everything was beter in the 90's! (?). The good old time...that never existed.

Mike, I just love your videos. I guess I’m the only one that likes the old hella headlights. Fcp has the replacement harness that goes inside them. It’s not a 211 but a 210 and Chinese lights look out of place.

The new lights look cleaner ! Nice job on what you called the eyebrow piece ! Always use heat to restore metal to its original position ! Drill a few tabs on the eyebrow at the bottom by the radiator side and screen it in . im sure if you drove it to Santa he would world it for you ! Mike is a body man by profession !
New lights Mike but make sure the electrics will work before committing, have a great time with your family and the snakes. As for connecting the metalwork, how about panel bond with a nut and bolt or rivet. But what ever you do, sort out the other damage on the lower inner wing or frustration will raise it's ugly head.
