I kinda want to remind new players that it would always be Aerith and Cloud (at least that's what the old game shows based on my observation), FF7 came first after Crisis Core. Zack was meant to serve as that bridge b/w Cloud and Aerith. He was meant to be Cloud's role model and his relationship with Aerith changed her as well. She loves Zach but ultimately her feelings for Cloud is even more apparent in game, She loves Cloud even more.
You would have to be an idiot to think Retrilogy went through all this bringing Zack back just to lose Aerith to his best friend who he died protecting and who reminds her of him. They might as well just let him stay dead. Luckily the devs won’t do that crappy storytelling to please the idiot Clerith fanon.

After seeing where Zack is and what Aerith said about dream and Homecoming, there is no multiple timeline or multiverse or parallel world, it’s the lifeatream that resembles the real world which is also has the memories and knowledge of the people across time.
She played Low Affection Aerith. This is the same as getting "Bad Ending" in playing games. To get the best Experience is getting all those High Affection on everyone.
In Low Affection, the interaction is plain and the video scene is cut by developer (If you could notice it).
Note: When you have all those High Affection point on Everyone and you want to date:
- Tifa: you should use Cloud-Tifa synergy more often
- Aerith: you should use Cloud-Aerith synergy more often.
Because both Tifa and Aerith have a balance points if you have done all their quests and answer correctly.
to be honest, she never sayid she loves cloud, I fell like she still fells something for zack but man this thing is litrally a love square! lol!
She does move on from Zack in every piece of FF7 after story material that you could find.

I get it though. As a business, you do want to keep interest in the game alive for as long as possibile before part 3. For better or worse.
Because that’s the low affinity version of Cloud’s response. He doesn’t call her Nakama in the high affinity version and is more positive about spending time with Aerith in the future.
Nakama is not the friendzone you think it is. It happens if you have low affection with her, where their relationship doesn't in fact develop as you the player haven't either. It means as it stands they are comrades, but Cloud is accepting going out with her again just the two of them to make more memories as he says.
It still has romantic implications.

@@juliogomesdesouza9035 No, Aerith still gets friendzoned regardless of low/high affection. People who don't understand Japanese don't seem to realize that even in the HA version, Aerith acknowledges that Cloud does not feel the same way. His saying "yeah, of course" to making more memories (something platonic friends also say) just means he doesn't mind hanging out with her as a friend.
After that one LA/HA line, the scene plays out the same way with Aerith acknowledging that Cloud views their friendship as platonic, her confessing that she's confused about her own feelings of "like," then Cloud flat-out ignoring her confession and calling her out for acting weird, which is a very aromantic reaction and quite rude when a girl is spilling her heart out to you. Aerith also says, "Shitsurei shimasu" (excuse me/I'm sorry) before hugging Cloud, which is the first time she ever apologizes in advance and shows some uneasiness before touching him, because she knows he doesn't have romantic feelings for her. That kind of apology implies that you're about to do something intrusive like invade the other person's personal space. You would never say that if the feelings were mutual.

Obviously the 3rd game will have the remaining things after the Northern Crater including the scene from Highwind before going to fight Seiphiroth but that doesn't negate how Cloud feels for Aerith. After all, one of the many Zack, the one that does not pursue Shinra and jumps timelines because of Sephy, still got a chance with the ship.
By not meeting his destined end fighting a last-stand battle against Shinra, he still plays a mayor role. Clearly seen in the game.
It gives SOOOO much more meaning to Zack's words in Advent Children when he asked if Cloud needed help in his fight even though he managed to beat Sephy once already.
Zack actually was able to jump in and really help if need be.
Also, that Zack seems to be quiet determined to still find an Aerith for himself by reconnecting realms once again xD So there is that. Advent Children also somewhat proved that point that Zack did end up getting his own Aerith, just in another timeline. Makes me wonder in what timeline he ended up staying. Poor Cisnei.
Its okay, by the laws of this new timeline storyline, it can still be absolutely canon that Aerith still loves Zack in a different timeline/reality and we only saw one version.
I wonder how Subaru would react to an Aerith-focused playthrough. Cause she got LA Aerith and didn't see their date. Probably makes this flow a lot better.
There's a really important differentiation in the way Aerith _likes_ Cloud vs. the way she loved Zack that's also distinct from Cloud & Tifa's feelings for one another that's been portrayed spectacularly in *_Rebirth._*
Zack, "never gave Aerith a reason not to" love him, but as a Cetra she's also known he's been dead since *_Crisis Core_* despite having a personal dream where that isn't the case. Zack would do anything to save her AND to save Cloud, because that's just who he is, which is what the scene with Marlene is about.
Aerith first gets drawn to Cloud because of their similarity, and from that time she soends with him, she grows to care about the REAL Cloud because she sees how broken he is, and given how familiar she was with Zack and how she sees the seams where Cloud's personality slips in and out. She's trying to find him and figure him out, which is why she has him play along on the mini date in her dream, so that she gets the answers she doesn't know.
Zack WANTS Cloud to save Aerith, despite what it means for him because he's not alive any more and he wants the best for both of them. Aerith feels the same way, and she ALSO cares a lot for Tifa - who she spends the whole game confiding in and trying to help save the REAL Cloud that's the person Tifa grew up with (hence why they both hide talking about that during their date scenes).
Aerith & Zack both stick around to help save Cloud all the way through to *_Advent Children_* before fully returning to the Planet. I assume that they're saving the scenes with the "white room" Aerith & Zack seeing each other until the next game where Cloud & Tifa have all of their key moments together in the Lifestream and under the highwind as narrative parallel.

"Tifa - who she spends the whole game confiding in and trying to help save the REAL Cloud" first of all Tiifa don't really care as long as cloud is by her side, that's why she lied/doesn't tell the truth about nibelheim incident because she fear cloud would leave her.
second I think people forget or don't play the OG, but there are two versions of under the highwind depending on the affection level with tifa.

First is that Tifa & Aerith explicitly discuss Cloud not being in Nibelheim the way he recounts events at the Kalm Inn together in their shared room right at the start of the game. Tifa also specifically knows that it was Zack there where Cloud remembers himself in his retelling, as there are detailed interactions of that backstory in *_Before Crisis_* preempting those events showing that they had met previously, as well as her spending time interacting with both Zack & Sephiroth in Nibelheim.
From Kalm and all the way into Junon, Cloud & Tifa's primary emotional tension is about the doubt of who the other person really is, which is an undercurrent through *_Rebirth_* that is explicitly more pronounced and reinforces a central pillar of Aerith & Tifa's relationship and how they individually respond to Cloud's mental state.
Tifa & Aerith also continue having exclusive one-on-one conversations throughout the game which not only include the personal backstory details in the novel, *_"Traces of Two Pasts"_* where they shift to talk about boys just before being interrupted, establishing context for the conversations that aren't directly heard in game after that being about Zack & Cloud.
They then have several conversations relating to Cloud's identity like him not remembering Zack outside of his parents' house in Gongaga (as the original game has exclusive dialogue if they are in the party at Gongaga), this is turned into dialogue not shared with Cloud directly. This builds upon Cloud's mental condition even before his identity slip when he attacks Tifa at the Gongaga reactor in Chapter 9.
Their unseen conversations are continually framed in explicit juxtaposition to Cloud's memories conflicting with the real world continuity of events that the others experience and collectively verify transpired differently between one another. Confrontation with those misunderstandings are the source of what cause Cloud to slip into violence and doubting who around him is real, like not believing Tifa has a scar that she literally showed him both in Kalm and at the Gongaga reactor and she talks to him about again about talking to another person of he doubts she's real in the Sleeping Forest.
That is all centered on Cloud's genuine identity and the complexity with that even BEFORE both of their Gold Saucer dates show them discussing Cloud remembering Zack (which he does incorrectly) and thus they both deflect the conversation related to… Cloud's REAL identity that Tifa & Aerith have been having together and focus on their connections to him in that shared moment together instead.
While Tifa is afraid of Cloud leaving her, the claim that she doesn't care is laughably baseless as she is the one who spends the most one-on-one time directly with Cloud trying to help him figure himself out mentally. Tifa & Aerith are always delicate at what to say around Cloud when because he's cognitively unstable, and even things like going towards the Mt. Nibel Reactor trigger his memory of Zack, but also overwrite those memories incorrectly conflating them with other individuals.
Additionally to your second comment… of course there are two versions of the scene beneath the Highwind. That is EXACTLY like there are Standard & Intimate versions of all the main cast date sequences in *_Rebirth._* Whether Cloud & Tifa just sleep beside one another or actually do more than just sleep doesn't change the context in which I mentioned it as being a key moment in the next part of the story exclusively between Cloud & Tifa which would allow for a narrative parallel to Zack & Aerith having similarly paired exclusive narrative focus.
(Zack, "never gave Aerith a reason not to" love him,) - this was mistranslated. In JP she said 「きらいになる理由 ないもの」 she meant that there's no reason to dislike him (even though they lost touch, she can't bring herself to hate/dislike him). She didn't truly answer Cloud's question because I believe she wasn't sure if Cloud was asking her as a friend or as a jealous crush. lol. So her answer to him was vague, thus you see Cloud dropping the subject in Gongaga.
When they are in a more romantic setting (optional Gondola date) you see that the subject (he asked if Tifa has spoken to Aerith about Zack's situation, he wanted to know her reaction) was brought up again because Cloud finds Aerith being flirty plus he wanted to clarify her feelings for Zack.
In which Aerith refer to 'that' as nothing important. Because she wanted to be with Cloud right now and didn't want to talk about anyone else.
You misinterpreted the dream date with Cloud & Aerith.
The Aerith we saw was another world line Aerith (possibly the one and the same in Cloud's resolution scene back in Remake).
This 'chihuahua' world line Aerith (mentioned in Ultimania), knew that the world she is in is about to disappear, so she wanted to use her last moments to spend some time with Cloud (even if this Cloud is not her world line Cloud) + in a way use Cloud to deliver the White materia to his world line Aerith for her to fulfil her duties.
For selfish reasons she took him out on a date, a walk - which Cloud mentions that's his idea of a date.
Her confession was half-hearted. She wanted to tell him how she truly feels about him but at the same time she knew she will die eventually and this confession might hurt him more.
Which is why she backtracked and said "there's liking and then there's LIKING" then proceeds to gently ask him not to feel any guilt should the time comes.

Second, your interpretation of the date in Aerith's dream doesn't fundamentally conflict with anything I mentioned, so I'm not sure why you're bringing it up. Aerith can want something personally while also doing things that help her understand how to assist Cloud at the same time. Those things are not mutually exclusive.
The NPC sharing her story in Cosmo Canyon explicitly mentions that the Lifestream does not differentiate memories from someone's hopes & dreams, and that for your deceased loved ones (in the NPCs case, her parents) she wants to find this place and meet them there. This is literally what we see explicitly demonstrated in Aerith's dream and Zack being there in all the varying permutations of how things could possibly happen based on different choices for what their hope is.
Aerith having Cloud play along on the date in her dream to figure him out and receive answers to things she won't be able to experience otherwise has a secondary purpose which is that none of your choices make any difference. Like with the Sector 7 Plate collapse when she speaks to Wedge, the choices are the ones you make even if they can't change anything, it matters to make them anyway. It's about not having regrets no matter how things turn out. No matter if you choose a hairclip, bracelet, or plushie - Aerith gets a pin. No matter what candy you choose - you get a weird tasting homemade gummy, no matter what pose you choose - the photographer takes a picture of the other couple. It's acceptance of fate, which is why she saves Cloud & gives him the White Materia and saves him, leaving herself with Sephiroth in an acceptance of her own fate.
Materia is condensed wisdom & memories, which the Whispers took from Aerith in Chapter 17 of *_Remake_* leaving her White Materia empty. Even after she has all of those back when Cloud gives her the White Material again, in the Sleeping Forest she's still focused on telling Cloud to take care of himself because he doesn't recognize how broken he is.
Even while Aerith can also have her own self-motivated reasons for those questions - her underlying goal is always still saving Cloud, which involves finding the REAL him. She explicitly explains that, and even in the original game, it's why she departs from the party, so it's still consistent, and it fundamentally makes the way she _likes_ Cloud still demonstrably different from the way she loved Zack.
