There's a reason they're popular. Not just streamers are playing them.
There's something fun about it that I don't quite know how to put into words that doesn't just sound like some kind of excuse for masochism. It feels good to actually have consequences.
I guess what it really boils down to is that it *makes* you actually feel accomplished for beating one. There is nothing that your victory can be "blamed" on other than your own effort.
Effort isn't always so rewarding, in life.
It's also just kind of a revival of the "nintendo hard" difficulty that some people enjoyed, where this type of progress loss used to just be bog-standard for videogames, back when they were charging you by the quarter.

@@RavenL1337 A boulder of that size would chip and shatter at high speeds, permanently ruining any chance of making it up the hill, so beach ball physics are honestly more generous to the player.

Sisyphus is rolling a boulder on rails towards Grand Hilbert Hotel. The hotel has infinite rooms, but they are all full. The hotel may not be able to accomodate Sisyphus and his boulder.
If you choose to divert him, he will roll his boulder into the ship of Theseus destroying it. However, the ship has had all its constituent parts replaced, so it may not be actually the same ship.
Would Okakoro tee~tee~ make Sisyphus happy?
It's fine, Sisyphus and his boulder are just two countably finite individuals. The concierge can get all the guests of the Grand Hilbert to move one or two rooms over to accommodate them.

Appreciate someone clipping this entire part as well as referencing previous segments (pushing from wrong side).
Watched the entire stream and this ending was super wholesome, appreciate you not chopping it to bits like other clippers.
You gotta remember though, Getting over it, Only Up speedrunners can clear it in just a few minutes.. I looked up the current #1 world record speedrun of this game, it's a little over 1 hour and 14 minutes..
This rock game would definitely break the heart of most players.
On that note, this game would be the perfect punishment game as nobody wants to play this, so everybody will try their damndest to win. Hahaha.

@@TheMantheon563 Even if you leave the boulder behind and just sprint up the path at full speed, it takes OVER TWENTY MINUTES to get to the endpoint. And no, it doesn't count as winning if you get there without the boulder.
Only Up can be done in minutes because there are ways to skip some sections. I think if those things arent used at all, it would take longer.
Current Getting Over It WR is 59.885 seconds glitchless and 1m 53.985s snake.

I see we're getting a resurgence of rage games now. Man I feel so goddamn bad for Korone and the people playing this, losing all that progress and having to start all over again. Though it is true to the story the game is based on.

i've never even seen this game until now and my heart broke watching that.
While I am inclined to say that most rage games need to have checkpoints, the whole point of Sisyphus' curse/punishment was meant to be both gruelling AND time-wasting, infinitely so.
If they added a stamina bar to signify being tired, now that would be even closer to how the curse actually went, and even in this version I still don't want to play the game.
I have to agree with Okayu though, watching it is fun, but playing it is torture, like how it's meant to be.

I don't find these to be fun unless its skill based and with skill you can quickly recover, this isn't.
However i would be perfectly fine if they decided to make this a punishment game. If they lose during another stream/contest they have to play it for example.
Doing a punishment that's like "push the boulder another level up until the next checkpoint" should be fine

'Beating the game' leaves obvious room for confusion. 'Clearance' or 'clearing the game' is more acceptable to me.

Game needs the guy to go a little faster so it’s actually catchupable instead of requiring a full stop to catch it. Just not enough to prevent serious zen loss.
that would just defeat the purpose of the game though. it's a rage game, similar to jump king, or getting over it. losing massive amounts of progress is part of the challenge. also the game is named after sisyphus, so it's fitting when the boulder rolls all the way down

to be fair if you recognize you're losing the grip you can just throw the rock and run back to catch it before it starts coming down; this game is 95% patience unlike most rage games where it's relying on skill or timing
@@scipioafricanus2071The difference is that at least in Jump King, you can easily get back up to where you fell if you're skilled enough but in this, you're so slow even if you're good. It just wastes your time. Jump King also is a shorter game overall. (Compare both WR speedrun and you'll see)

no matter what you have you take into context the reliability of the clipper
for example, maple leaf translations i think, adds in casual speaking patterns instead of translating it on the dot
