    *Hallelujah 🙌🏻!!!!! The daily jesus devotional has been a huge part of my transformation, God is good 🙌🏻🙌🏻. I was owing a loan of $49,000 to the bank for my son's brain surgery, Now I'm no longer in debt after I invested $11,000 and got my payout of $290,500 every month…God bless Mrs Christy Fiore ❤️*

    1:50:00 it sounds like Heidi works with autistic people through the Medicaid HCBS waiver system. Those hourly rates are set, because they're ultimately paid via Medicaid, and it's a flat pay rate (at least it is in my state). I've been a paid provider for a disabled person for a number of years. The only way I get more per hour is when Medicaid mandates it through the waiver. If she continues working through the waiver system, I don't see her income increasing, no matter how much income she has. But maybe her state is different than mine.

    When Dave talks about getting debt free he says live on rice and beans, beans and rice and "live like no one else so you can live like no one else." It sounds to me like they have been living like no one else and they have paid their debts off except the mortgage and his income is incredible so now he can live like no one else and buy the car he loves, which incidentally, he has enough cash to pay for, so I would say go for it...totally guiltfree. I think Dave would agree to this. I certainly don't mean to speak for Dave but I have never heard him say anything that makes me think his austerity program is meant to be adhered to for the rest of your life. Even after you buy this beloved car, if you buckle down to it you should be able to get TOTALLY debt free, INCLUDING the mortgage in a very short period of time and you will have that awesome toy to play with.

I suggest working 2-3 years in a field of work you are interested in while taking a couple of night classes at your local community college. What I can't figure out is people like the last two callers who have plenty of money and are trying to decide how much they are going to give their kids. Why are they not talking to an accountant and an attorney to check out the ramifications rather than call in to a radio show? Clearly they could afford to get professional advice. As for the caller Mike from Chicago who is thinking about a potential $250.000 - $300,000 gift to his kids on top of college - likely not the best idea to give a large gift like this all at once if you want your kids to understand what it means to work for a living.

      Buying a 150k car when you just crossed $1mil net worth when you make $750k is insane. They’ll be calling in 4 years saying they can’t make their life work when she stops working and their income drops to $400k

  • @MrAbrin986
    @MrAbrin986 Місяць тому

    Julie, the caller wanting to gift $50k to each of her kids should be able to give the full amount with likely no tax, unless they are uber wealthy. Jade's advice saying they would have to pay gift tax is incorrect and a very commonly misunderstood rule. The $18,000 limit just means it doesn't have to be reported to the IRS if the gift is under $18k. Julie can still give $50k in a given year. She will just need to report that at tax time by filing form 709. The excess amount over $18,000 ($32k in her case) will then go against the lifetime gift and estate limit of $13.61mm, as of 2024. She would only ever pay tax if her estate and total cumulative gifts above the annual $18,000 limit exceed $13.6mm. For 99% of people this will never apply to them. The $13.61mm is set to reset to $6mm in 2026, but even then, the gift tax still won't apply to most people.

    Heidi (57 - wants to make more money.) A good first step for you would be to visit your local community college. My guess is with your income, any program you chose would be paid for with financial aid and almost any class can be taken online now if you can't attend classes. There are programs that match your experience that you perhaps have not even heard of. There are also programs targeted for women. Even something like a teacher's assistant would raise your income and also provide you with health insurance and other benefits which may become important before you reach Medicare age. Being a teacher's assistant would mean you could have summers and weekends to also earn extra money. Normally this would be a two-year program, but taking classes in the summers would enable you to complete this degree in 15 months.

    Gifts over the $18k in 2024 are just reported to the IRS via a gift tax return and is accounted from your lifetime gift tax exclusion of +$12.92m at the time of your death. No one is "paying" a tax until they've reached the lifetime amount. Jade's comment implies the caller would be paying taxes for giving a gift.

      Re-homing a dog isn’t necessarily heartless; if anything, it’s an opportunity to find pup a new environment with the potential of a big yard and lots of room to roam, bark, forage and generally be doggedly happy. Sounds like Fido may even have issues resulting from mom and dad’s numerous moves, which may have caused him some ongoing anxiety. We’ve parented a few dogs and cats and as you likely know, they pick up on stress as much as humans do.

    Abigail wrestling with question about husband traveling during the week for a higher income - first of all, this is not a full half of the year as he would be home on weekends. Secondly, for a short period of years with a specific goal of paying off the house - I say, go for it. Military and other families make more sacrifices than this all the time. You will have so many more options later if your home is paid for, including if one of you wants to stop work, is disabled, etc. It is one of the most comforting feelings to know that in uncertain times you have a roof over your heads regardless of what pops up. One parent away from home with a 3 year old is not the same as with elementary and high school children in activities and sports when a Dad would miss so much. You can still plan any special event on the weekend - a young child is not going to know when the "real" birthday is for a few years. In addition, if your husband really wants to do this (for whatever reason), and you become the reason he can't, that can build real resentment later. My FIL wanted to take a job in Washington DC during the week and my MIL would not let him do it for HER sake and that of "the family." He always resented missing the opportunity. The one fly in the ointment that you need to consider is if your daughter or you get sick - then it's really hard to be by yourself with a young child unless you have backup. I know you'll look at all the angles and do what is best for your family. I did find it ironic that Jade and Ken stressed "the family" so much in your situation, whereas in other situations they often say the opposite.

Dude- get a degree and then start your own business. It will open so much more business opportunities. Imagine you have all this extra knowledge and you are completely debt free!! I responded to another comment and listened back to the call to make sure that I understood. You're completely off base. He never said he was not supporting his daughter, just that there was no formal agreement. I think that's wonderful. We don't need the government to force this kid to hand over money. He's an 18-year-old kid who ended up with a child by accident. And he said he was considering skipping college and going to work right away so he could support his little one.
      In a world where people are having unprotected sex more often and at younger ages, there's a lot of depressing single mom situations. This young man is staying present. He does not need to be called irresponsible because he and the mother have worked out their own agreement.

Ken said "America wants to know what car." I think KEN wanted to know what car! Red is a magnet not only for police, but for thieves. Divorce almost never "happens" - the signs are ALWAYS there for those who look for them without jumping into marriage. Did you check the credit report and watch carefully how he or she spends money? Did you observe how he or she treated other family members and neighbors? Did you listen to the "joking" comments colleagues made about how he or she treats his or her employment situation? If he or she has kids, do you notice if he or she puts them first or you? Can you live with the kids of another spouse? How is he or she spending time? Did you figure out his or her love language and if you could provide affirmation in that area? And the divorce statistics include people with multiple divorces, not just a first-time divorce. In addition, a lot of divorce happens due to immaturity and the inability to live with someone who is not like you want him or her to be. People RARELY change - choose well and only based on what the person is actually DEMONSTRATING every day, not what he or she says.
