It's that first part everytime. I always come back for I don't know why it's just so smooth "that's the whole tragic point my friends." Ugh I just love it!
This has always been my favorite part of the movie ever since I was a kid. Now I'm getting ready to go listen to Ne-Yo version and then listen to nas surviving the time because he raps over the instrumentals on that song.
@@billywall7752 It's Berry Gordy, and as the head of Motown, he was only marginally involved with its fledgling movie company. Motown Productions' head was Rob Cohen, and he was also the producer on the big-screen version of _The Wiz._ He and director Sidney Lumet planned it as a small-budget picture to star, as you rightly indicated, Stephanie Mills. But Diana Ross happened to meet Ted Ross, who had played the Cowardly Lion in the stage version and had already been hired to reprise the role in the movie. Diana wanted to be Dorothy, so she called Gordy, who called Cohen, who called him back, then Gordy called Diana and said she had the part. There Gordy's involvement ended.
IS ANYBODY WATCHING THIS IN 2019, THIS MOVIE TAKES ME BACK TO MY CHILDHOOD, EVEN THOUGH SOME OF THE PARTS SCARED ME THEN BUT I STILL LOVE IT, AND THAT SLOW JAM BY NIPSEY, CHILE PLEASE
As a child I loved MJ as scarecrow & the rest of the cast (which sadly are no longer around except for Diana Ross) & I still adore this film The Wiz (1978)
The Wiz and The Color Purple are in the top 5 of my favorite movies. I've watched them both religiously during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays for the last 20+ years. My absolute favorite part of this song in The Wiz is when MJ looks back in surprise at the Black women on the wall like what the what when they first sing "What?" 😂🤗 He looks so innocent, wonderous, and secretive all at the same time! Thank you for this upload, and Happy Thanksgiving! 💜
What would I do if I could suddenly feel And to know once again that what I feel is real? I could cry, I could smile, I might lay back for a while Oh, tell me what, what would I do if I could feel What would I do if I could reach inside of me And to know how it feels to say I like what I see? Then I'd be more than glad to share all that I have inside of here And the songs my heart might bring, you'd be more than glad to sing And if tears should fall from my eyes Just think of all the wounds they could mend And just think of all the time I could spend Just being vulnerable again Oh, tell me what, what would I do Oh, tell me what, what would I do Oh, tell me what, what would I do if I could feel

This scene is the most underrated scene in the whole movie!
The song is incredible… It literally made em stop what i was doing and become enthralled in the moment
So underrated this my favorite song out the whole movie
As a child, I had no idea that this song would play out in my adult life. 🤐😎😂
It's that first part everytime. I always come back for I don't know why it's just so smooth "that's the whole tragic point my friends." Ugh I just love it!

The WIZ, was just a masterpiece. 💕. Thank you, All.
This is how I "feel" every day. If I ever let my true emotions out, what would I do?
same man
Beautiful and an unparalleled performance. He really had a way and the song is so moving.
Love the instrumentation on this.
R.I.P. Nipsey Russel and Micheal Jackson
The star power in this one scene, let alone the entire movie is Beyond legendary.
😢 just being vulnerable again..😢❤️

Louise the tin man
introduction into the movie clip
Ne-Yo did Nipsey (and all previous Tinman portrayers) proud.
This is hands down the best song from this movie, I loved it the first time I heard it
I just love Nipsey 💕
Barry Gordy is a GENIUS!
Berry didn't have much to do with this movie besides getting Diana Ross into it. The music was arranged by Quincy Jones.
@@MaskedMan66 Actually Barry Gordy wanted the younger Stephanie Mills to play Dorothy, but Diana Ross went over his head and got the part.

Just cutting onions Bro
Soul stirring music. Best scene in the movie
The older I get, the more I understand this song.
those statues on the wall used to scare the crap out of me when I was a kid
They startled me too; I wasn't ready for that. But now I like them.
Me too
Me too
Haha
This whole movie did
Mr Russell put the belt to that performance 💪🏾💪🏾💯

The Wiz (1978)
One of my all-time favorite movies.
As a kid I hated this part of the movie but as a grown man now, I love and relate to this part the most
Oh, my God! I loved it! I really loved it!
Rip Michael and Nipsey😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
I saw this at the movies with my baby sitter in 1978. I was born in 1971. Who else is a 71 baby?
love this!
I almost can’t handle the nostalgia
Those three-part church harmonies from 1:54 on are EVERYTHING.
Thank you black childhood for planting this in me
My favorite song
I’ve always loved this song. ❤
I swear I be feeling like the tin man. Not knowing what it is real
I wish this was on the movie soundtrack.❤
