    My granddad and dad alway found spruce gum when they were loging. They would bring it home to the family to chew. It was the only gum we had back in the day. This was over 70 years ago. 😊

    Larch is an incredible tree for resin. I was lucky enough to see the inside of a fallen down larch. Literally coated in incredible resin.

    Man, I’m Australian and all of these grass trees, gum trees and acacias all produce massive amounts of gum and resin from the grass tree.
    Most look like blood and are astringent. But medicinally fantastic. I’ve only heard of the grass tree resin used as an incense. I’ll try the acacia tomorrow as it’s edible

      Works incredibly well, my flare-ups are few and far between now, but they never last longer than two days. I gave it to a friend who usually does 12 days of oral antibiotics for her cellulitis - killed it in three days. Two other friends use it for candida yeast. The only ingredients are pine pitch, oil, and beeswax. I've used both pinon and ponderosa pitch, probably about 1/3 pitch.

    Would be great to see hands work with resins and saps. How to work with them when they are in that sticky state. How you incorporate them into incense especially and or perfumery.

    Grateful for the insights and experiential In.sense, Evan. I’ve been growing with incense for as long as I can remember and there is still so much to learn. It is a fascinating field of study, and so often a lends a transcendental learning experience. Looking forward to more from the NWSA!!! =)(=

    Do you know much about mesquite sap and the benefits that it may have?

    • @thenorthwestschoolofaromat1346
      @thenorthwestschoolofaromat1346  2 роки тому +1

      Hello, personally I don't have much experience with mesquite as it's not a common aromatic, isn't common on the market, and doesn't grow anywhere near us here in the Pacific Northwest. I was able to pull this bit of info for you:
      "The mesquite gum or resin is warmer in nature. It is soothing and tonifying, and provides much of its healing qualities through its natural mucilage content. Dissolved in water it is used as a G.I. tonic to rehabilitate impaired and abused intestines. It greatly assists intestinal healing after surgery. After bouts of dysentery, diarrhea, stomach/intestinal distress, and food poisoning, it is used as a restorative. It also is a wonderful soother to stomach/intestinal pain, ulcers, colitis, hemorrhoids, sore throats, painful teeth and gums, and mouth sores. Externally it is equally effective on burned, chapped, and raw skin. Like the other parts of mesquite the resin is also an eye soother and at one time was used internally for respiratory problems."
      (from henriettas-herbs.com)
      That is all I found on that site. Best of luck!

    Can you burn amber on charcoal???

  • @chestuk68
    @chestuk68 3 роки тому +2

    Hello, I have a question; I bought some tree resin from a nice wicca/candle type shop; it was sold under 'aromatherapy'; the shop owner said to use charcoal discs. However, I found the discs in-home use to be terrible as it gave off a noxious-smelling black particulate smoke (reminded me of bbq briquets). How else can I fragrance my home with this wonderful resin in a cleaner way? Any suggestions? Thank you, I just hit the subscribe button! 😁

      @thenorthwestschoolofaromat1346  3 роки тому +1

      Hello. Yes, you want to avoid those types of charcoals. You'll definitely want to buy some all natural incense charcoals. Usually these are made using coconut husks. My company Higher Mind Incense usually carries them but we are taking a pause on sales at this time. Check back later. Good luck!

      You can also put in a tiny metal bowl above a heat source (candle/stove top) and burn them add a tiny amount or oil (coconut etc) to the bowl also and keep the flame/heat source low
