That Strat litterally has more sex appeal than my entire existence. Which isn't particularly difficult to do, but still, I'm less sexually attractive than a fucking *object.*
Hank Hill well being Hank Hill, that ain't too hard to believe...
Be gone you three-legged internet gerbil.
Hank Hill is a whole lotta man though
You were more fun when you actually spoke like Hank. RIP
Guitars? Shouldn't you be on commenting on the propane and propane accessories channel?
Just ordered a 10w (college student living in a dorm.. Can't be too loud) and an ESP LTD EC-256 in cherry sunburst for my first setup. Super pumped!!!
Luke D. Humphrey are you happy with your gear?
Rodrigo Negrete good setup for introduction so prob yes
Luke D. Humphrey so how is it?
I've had an ESP EC 256 for 9 years. The stock pickups sound pretty good. But I installed a set of Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates pickups. And they sound amazing I've also heard that 59's are also really good.
You made good choices. You have a great set-for For $400.
Just realized Rob looks a bit like Homer Simpson
Can't be unseen.
more and more each year of daddyhood.
Only a bit?
Not at all
I think He Looks more Like James Hetfield
I got this amp recently and my god is it awesome. The stereo whenever you put on a bit of reverb wow
I just bought the V1 model of the 40W last week, not knowing there was a V2 coming out. But for what it's worth, this one doesn't sound any different than mine so I guess I'll be glad I got it for a good price.
In any case, it IS a great amp. I've been through three or four amps and finally settled on this one.
Hey man, just curious, have you got any hiss/buzzing problems?
I bought the 10 amp based upon your recommendation and I'm floored by how this amp sounds. I'm thinking about returning it for the 40. I am now a Blackstar devotee.
I chose the 40 because I thought it had a tighter low end
I have chosen to go with the 40 as well.
I also went for the 40. Be here in a couple of days, cant wait!!
Ugh, I just ordered a 40 as well. I'm so gullible. I really can't wait to play it.
Was dissapointed in the ID CORE 40. Changed it for ID 15 TVP. It's much better. Has true valve power and tvp and all together better made and and an all round better amp.
I had this Amp since a year and i never realized it sounded that beautiful...
Thanks for slowing down the tuning process. We didn't want to miss anything.
These really are great little amps that indeed do pack quite the punch. I've got the ID Core 10 and it's a great practice amp and even small gigging amp. The built in effects are nice but it also does very well to accept other pedals if you like? I use a Digitech Whammy that pairs with this amazingly well. The clean warm and clean bright are super crisp, more than you'd expect for such small amps. I use it for my Gretsch White Falcon, Epi LP and Squier Telecaster and couldn't be happier. Best $90 I ever spent!
Bought this yesterday, the 10 watt version. The sounds it makes are wayyyyy above the price. Cant believe how great the drives are for £100.
Woow, my level of GAS is huge. Excelent review, though it's sad that andertons doesn't ship to Argentina.
darkFo3 your level of gas is huge? You should get that checked out my guy
Thanks guys for the review, mine just arrived today. And yes Rob, you described my student room perfectly
Rob is getting better at not just playing scale runs. He sounds more musical in this
:D Proud owner of the ID260, ID60H, and HT20 (versatile, small, valve, awesome ) :D
ID floorboard... the idea being to get rid of the speaker box, and offer the ID Core or TVP engine in a more transportable format.
Light, hardy chassis, dual inputs, stereo out, two expression pedals, loop, tap tempo, freeze/hold effect on the reverb...all the super, extra super cool stuff a working muso can use...
I'd pay for, and would love the support of the ID features in a floorboard, that let's me DI to the desk, and decide on how big (if any) an on-stage speaker box I need.
Rock on Blackstar
I love this amp! Gonna buy it for sure
The tuner mode of the video was, by far, the best part! The sounds are awesome from the Blackstar, though! I may pick one up at some point!
Great review. You guys always provide a lot of detail with plenty of humor - love it. Who's the better player between y'all...ummm....gotta be close......I'll be buying one these Core ID 20's this Easter weekend. Thanks y'all from the Valley of The Sun - Phoenix, Arizona.
Rory... that "Spppeeeeaaaadddd Ccccaaaaaammmm"... that was amazing.
Rob can make any amp sound so good :)
**Crunch** OWWIIEE!
Ugh, I'm debating between this and a Yamaha THR10C. I've actually heard the Blackstar in person, though. SURPRISINGLY nice sounding cleans and effects. I actually liked this review as silly as it (intentionally, OBVIOUSLY) is!
ShotGunRoleModel dude, I have the thr10c AND the blackstar idcore 40. The thr10c is on the shelf collecting dust. The crystal clear stereo sound (even at higher volumes) and footswitch option on the blackstar did it for me!
I'm off to buy the 40 right now!
floordrobes and jazz mags... ah the good old days hahaha
Great review, thanks!
For a £2,591.00 worth Fender it sure got out of tune pretty easily. FOUR times in twenty minutes.
The amp is awesome though...
Andy Rayner new strings probably
Was about to say that
@@mad3arber nahhh it’s just a Fender… Gibson are better
I love that Strat....what is with those frets??? Are they that big, or just flattened out? Sounds much like the other stuff on the market....TUBES RULE! Cheers Chappers n Captain from Canada!
It's that the guys over at the custom shop put some 'gunk' around the frets, as if it has been played to shit. It makes the frets seem bigger than they actually are, because of a shadow effect.
Thomas Zwart ahhhhh I see.....they do look bigger, but I knew it must be something as frets aren't as big as the nut usually. Lol
I remember Chappers said that the strat is in fact a squier. not sure though.
Best rock/metal amp for $100... Period.
TodayIsDead your on your period ?
The new Line 6 Spyder will have something to say about that.
The Line 6 is a pile of junk.
Max Scardanelli very true
Yeah, and what it will sound like is muddy shit because that's what Line 6 does.
Strats - as much I love'am, I can't play them :) So accustomed to wide and flat necks of my superstrat Yamaha and Epi LP Custom. Maybe if I owned one to practice with... hey... wouldn't it be a great reason to buy a strat? :)
@9:42 - perfect
Great sound
JUMBO FRRRREEETTZZZZ! Nice!
Blackstar ID Core vs Boss Katana
Tone Pimp1
idcore wins.
Tone Pimp1 Boss katana wins.
LOL
Katana every time! by a huge mile. ID core not even in same league
its sounds exaggerated ;) i cannot believe that by the way i would love a demo comparing both
Wonder if you'd change the tone of the amp if you had the footswitch plugged in? Effectively plugging the 'port' haha.
.... that stare at the tuner part
I have a better idea if and when I buy this amp that after the one year warranty period is over I am going to connect Speaker Out connector from the rear to drive a pair of 6.5" full range same 10-watt external loudspeakers in my living hall to get the real spatial effect like a hi-fi set up.
And then I bought one..................wow happy
Doze the tuna work in EFlat
I like modeling amps... but I typically just stick with one setting... and I think, "I wish I had an amp with just this sound... but better"
I wet my knickers around 10:28. Take my money please. There's not much difference in change between the 20Watt and the 40Watt in Australia...I would go the 40Watt.
Honestly, Blackstar is the BEST secret in the music industry right now.......The distortion and tone are high dollar face melting! It really does Everything well.....excellent reliability. I have 2 Marshalls, but still won't let go of the Blackstar, it's just perfect.
I purchased the idcore 10 on a whim. I wanted a practice amp to carry to the family's during holidays and just general plug and play, my main amp is an Engl FB100. This little guy blew me away, it sounds so huge. I can't say that enough, it sounds WAY BIGGER than it is. For 3 weeks I didn't turn on my Engl. I love this thing, the clean and crunch channels are so good. The aux input is great for plugging in the phone and streaming some backing tracks. So much fun
Best 10.watt amp ever
u guys should check out the Ibanez iron label FR
HEY GUYS CAN WE GET AN UPDATED PRATICE/MODELING AMP SHOOTOUT LIKE YOU GUYS DID ABOUT 5 OR 6 YEARS AGO? DO THE NEW SPIDER, NEW ID CORE, MAYBE KATANA, THR10, MARSHALL CODE, VOX AV, AND/OR NEWEST VTX SERIES AND ANY OTHER NEW MODELING/PRATICE AMPS YOU WANT TO INCLUDE
They've done it now
So Blacked.com is a different kind of black magic apparently.
What type of magic is it then, Steve?
Hank Hill There's definitely some flange going on there mate. I'd be careful.
I think amps aren't the only thing they plug in there hank.
This comment is amazing lmao haven’t laughed so hard in awhile
I wondered where all the Ozone went... Steve sucked it up. So, glad they didn't turn that into a link.
Your editor is such a prick and I love it! 😂
I think its chapman
9:08 I laughed for the entire 40 seconds of tuning. “Speeeeed caaaaaaaam”
For all of you asking, Danish Pete & Rabea shot the ultimate 2016 Modelling Amp shootout yesterday. Vox VT vs Boss Katana vs Marshall Code vs Blackstar ID Core vs Fender Mustang vs Blackstar TVP vs Line 6 Spider V. It was an epic battle & will be uploaded to the Andertons UA-cam channel later this month!
This is the video i've been looking for ...me and some thousand more :)
Thank you so much!!
Can't wait!
I tested the Blackstar TVP 15w version and it was amazing!
Well t'hats too late for me ,I already got myself the ID TVP 15.
I just ordered the V2 40W!
I think this will pair nicely with my Epiphone Les Paul Traditional Pro II (Wine Red).
These will be my first proper guitar and amp.
I'm just a beginner but the joy they bring me will have me playing all the time!
Again, thanks for your time and information.
If you're a beginner why do you need 40w? 10 is more than enough
Bro I'm a beginner now and i want to ask you is ISF better? I mean it reduces your control over amp right cos you dont have bass, middle and treble knobs
@@travelworld2738 you can access the Bass/Mid/Treble through the Insider Software. I have the 10w version and it gets the job done, but I really wish I went with something like the Boss Katana from the beginning....
@@travelworld2738 you can access the Bass/Mid/Treble through the Insider Software. I have the 10w version and it gets the job done, but I really wish I went with something like the Boss Katana from the beginning....
Just got this amp today, and holy shit did it exceed all my expectations! Its only 20 watts but it sounds ALOT louder than it looks. You really need to listen to that stereo in person, its unbelievable.
I've been playing guitar since the 80's and solid statre amps sucked back then. I have a coiuple tube amps but I can't use them late at might. The tones from Blackstar's ID Core 20 are beyond amazing. This amp exceeds my expectstions in every way. It sounds HUGE and the effecs sound as good as most $600-$1000 pedal boards.
choke Does your amp make noise when the cable is plugged in? My one does...
Mike every amp has some noise but especially on a high gain setting,.. you need to activate the noise gate or adjust it in the software. It’s the nature of high gain and high volumes. Also turn off as many gadgets as possible that the amps power might be connected to.
video length is 21:12 why didn't you guys play any Rush
I have an inexplicable urge for Rob to introduce a video with "Greetings, I'm Bob Clappers" and for the Captain to say something similarly silly.
3:36 Did you just break your own fingers???
This amp... Floored. No bad sounds; just inspiring. Best Small amp I've ever had/heard etc. IMPORTANT Feature. As far as I understand the ISF "Tone Knob", is it controls the SAG of the amp. To the left = Less SAG - American (Tight Rhythm). To the right = More SAG - British (Singing Leads). So it's quite a bit more than a tone contour; hence the "Patented ISF Knob"
Am I supposed to know what SAG is?
James Allen jr., if you’re like me and have spent more time researching gear than practicing, yes.
@@bluepedalsrock9271 So... what is SAG? I just bought the Amp and have no idea
Love this amp. I bought a ID core 20 and my neighbors can feel it in their soul this amp moves so much damn air. It still amazes me how loud this thing is.
Cap
Cap
This little amp is deceptively huge. I bought the 10w so I'd have something small to jam with while visiting family. I couldn't believe the way this thing swelled up and filled my entire downstairs with a full deep sound. This has become my main amplifier at home....unreal
I believe you'd now be referred to as "Monkey Lee" if Rob is "Capt. Chappers" xP
Dagger 323 I think he would be THE ROB
I just found this channel. Subscribed, I've been watching your videos for three days straight in all of my free time. Awesome stuff.
I'd be interested to see Glen Fricker's take on this - sounds not bad for a practice amp to me, but then everything sounds better on Andertons videos than Glenn's channel
This tiny gem can basically kick the shit out every Line6 amp.
+Max Scardanelli I saw a video where Glenn Fricker beat a Line 6. To death.
A.Zepp26 Both are equally bad imo. I play in a metalcore band and I can tell you that this is definitely not an amp for heavier music
@@legaciestr hey man what do you suggest for heavier music
MrGamingvideos123 Whitechapel is a great band, the first three suicide silence albums are classics and although they’re not the heaviest band, parkway drive is definitely my favorite band of all time. Chelsea Grin follows close
@@legaciestr dude i mean what other amp do you suggesr for heavier music
6:58 "I wouldn't worry about the air coming out of the hole. I don't think it's really a selling point"
Rob: "I would"
Wow! The frets on that Strat!
Super ultra jumbo. LOL
prison bar frets
Can I apply at Fender's to dirt up the necks over there?
I just got a Schecter Demon 6 and this small beast.(both are my firsts)
I decided to watch this video to get me some information about it, and now I'm really excited to play it.
8:13 "it's a tone knob!" haha, I always said that about ISF. nothin more :)
The title of the patent that relates to this (they only have three) is
passive equalization circuit or tone control for an audio amplifier
intended for use with musical instruments has a means of continuously
adjusting the middle- or centre-dip or cut frequency. The amplifier is
particularly intended for use with guitars.
Which suggests it's a tone knob
jensenhealey08 haha. thats a lot of words. 😀
lando27music Yeah... No matter how Blackstar describes its ISF; American tonal character or British one, honestly we perceive that simply a 'tone' knob. Nothing fancy.
yep. I had the Idcore10. From what I recall it's like the tone cut on an AC15. Knob turned left is bright and turned right is dark/muddier
Patent Attorney speak. You get used to it when you work in the patent game
I love when you guys digress! :)
I laughed out loud at speed cam.
What's the music he plays at 5:41? I MUST KNOW :D
Everyone is putting their Marshall 4x12 face down to float a malteaser now hahaha
Hey rob and🐵 captain! 🤘🏻🎸Greetings from, Venezuela 🇻🇪 🇬🇧
Hey Dario von richardio gumslam venaslapayak fernadonio the third, greetings from my moldy basement.
i had the 40 watt one for a year and absoloutely loved it
You should mic the footswitch input and see what sound comes out of that
i love this amp, i have the 10 watt old one and it's awesome, but imo it's too much selling it as a new amp, it's just the old one with a little firmware update.
Is there any tone and fx diffrence between 20 and 40?? And distorted sound is good ? I am thinking of buying it now it is good looking for that budget i cant spend too much money
@@ardakucuksahin2855, I tried all three and bought the 20. It's the extra $ because it has bigger and better speakers. The additional low end gives a bigger and fuller sound. The 20 and 40 sound nearky identical but the 40 is louder. My 20 fills a big room quite nicely.
I bought one of these used, and the "clean bright" setting is worth buying the amp alone! With the built in effects, your vocals, or an acoustic or electric guitar sound amazing. However the gain and high gain channels are alot more solid state sounding, and aren't nearly as polished... It's got great bass for its size, and is much lighter than ANY tube amp (even the stupid awesome HT5R!). My opinion only... Thanks!
This video is 21:12 long. RUSHCEPTION!
Anyway, this sounds like a pretty decent little practice amp. Still saying the Boss Katana is my dream amp at the moment.
I had to come back again hahah.. Who is that in the background lols!! 'Yeah, er I wouldn't worry about the air coming out the hole, don't think its a selling point'
Rob: I would..
Rob: I would!
captainslaveman that's Blackstar Drew
Rob Chapman excellent :) this vid cracked me up dude. Well done to you and the Capt.
I have the original id 20 actually for home practice, now I'm about to go feel some air holes!
It concerns me that I recognized Drew's voice.
Since these amps come with frfr speakers, would it be possible to plug an axe fx or kemper into the wherever the mp3 would go and then use the amp as an frfr bedroom speaker for whichever other amp modeler is plugged into it?
The guitar costs 20 times the combo being reviewed. How does the amp hold up when it has a more likely pairing of a lower end Squier or Epiphone? Also, the link for the amps in the description currently 404s.
I use for my Epi LP Pro Standard and it's got amazing tone and clarity. Even crunchy (distorted) sounds great. And my Squier Bullet Tele absolutely sounds great with it! Even my high end Gretsch G7593T - BD sounds incredibly through it!
Awsome amp. I have the id core 10 and an id 60tvp their both fantastic amps. As always you guys give valuable info and made me laugh...
The sight and sound of Lee accidentally breaking his finger in two without so much as a wince (3:36) is further proof he's a faulty android.
I am a big fan of my Boss Katana 50 amplifier, but if I have to be honest I get more and more attached towards the Blackstar products!!! And if I have to choose between them I will drive myself mad as hell!! They seem soo great and want to ask what you think of those black magic boxes. But I won't get rid of my Boss madness because they never let me down!!! Damn great amplifiers nowadays!!!!!!
You can gig with the 40 in Pub's and Club's easy! 🤙
Really!!! I’d think that would be pushing it. It has two 6.5 speakers I dont think they will get over the top of a drummer . I wish it were true but I doubt it
@@Havanacuba1985 you can without a drummer, or mic it up
Just got the 40 watt; it's load!! Great amp, especially for the price. And yeah, with the 2 speakers when I play this in my bedroom it's as though the sound just surrounds you!!
Izzy T can i use it at gigs / venues?
Blackstar ID Core VS Boss Katana
MattZildjian I think they need to have a new small amp showdown.
MattZildjian
The slow-mo tuning had me cracking up! Brilliant.
blackstar over line6 products anyday
Hello Friend a Nice Song 👋🙂 very nice Upload a Big Thumb Up 👍
greetings Stefano
I have a couple of blackstar amps. I absolutely love them. I get the sound I want.
Very nice overview, i think this will be my next purchase, sounds great
Those little amps have some serious rockin' powa ! well worth the money.
Rory is a funny editor, made me laugh with the speed cam
What's would be the best between the ID Core 40 ands the Line 6 Spider V Mark II ? (i play Rock and Metal mostly)
It's the only amp value for money I love this amp better than some Marshall amp. And because of some additional features it's better than 20 watt Fender champion.
he says to listen in stereo if you can. But just having two speakers isnt how that amp makes it effects like that. There has to actually be two separately controlled channels. That way it can do things like slightly take the left and right out of time to make an echo sound, or do this, or that, and whatever else, to give you a real stereo effect. The only way (im sure ill be proved wrong) you would be able to hear it through youtube at home is if each speaker is mic'd (L&R) or its using the speaker outs directly. Otherwise your not going to get the full effect they are talking about. I pooped today.
I picked up one of the old 10s for $25 recently, great tone for a modeling amp.
What song is rob playing at 14:45? :P
the mantra of the monkey lord
Wow, I can't believe it sounds like that with such small speakers. Well done by Blackstar.
Bought this exact amp I'd core 20, trying to use the patch download, and it's not compatible with any of our devices, was going.to get some patches I like and buy a foot switch, but it's not working with anything we have.
I bought a Blackstar Beam for home use and have been blown away by how good it is.
These amps truely sound huge and low volume
Well done Blackstar
This was vary helpful, as always. My friend just bought the 10 for her son and i was trying to help him figure it out, but i have never used a modeling amp before. Lol his 10 beatsvthe pants off my 10 but mine is a china made amp with no brandname, so any amp should destroy it. Lol
How to repair if its dead... ic problem or maybe no power supply...
Everey body talking its great bla bla blaaa.... but what if it gets problem... should review on that too....
It's not 'BARE with us'. It's 'BEAR with us'. Sorry to condescend (which is where you talk down to someone).
Hi tell me please what’s the difference between idcore 10 v2 and idcore10 v3 thanks
