  • Steamrail Victoria ran a special to Ballarat on 8 October 2022 as part of the celebrations for 100 years since the first K class locomotive entered service in 1922. The train was to be hauled by K153 (re-numbered as class leader K100), K183 and K190. Unfortunately K190 was declared a failure on the morning of the trip, so T395 substituted at the rear of the train.
This video commences with a scene of the double headed steam locomotives climbing the famed 1 in 48 Ingliston Bank around the horse shoe curve at Rowsley. We then move further up the grade to the site of Ingliston station, between Bank Box Loop and Ballan, where the train passes in fine style, before capturing another shot of the train at Gordon.
For the return trip, we commence the chase at Ballarat East before capturing scenes at Elaine and Moorabool on the Ballarat to Geelong line. The final shot of the video features K153 (as K100) leading K183 away from Lara in the late afternoon sun.
Steamrail operate regular tours around the state of Victoria. For more information, please visit www.steamrail.c...
