Both are great. I'm new to Linux and chose Zorin. It does everything that I need. It's certainly nice that you can run either OS in a test mode from a USB flash drive before actually installing. That option gives the user a great opportunity to compare.

I use Zorin OS17 Pro and its very close to how Windows works and for being a new to Linux this is the right one for me till then.

Me too. Also, Zorin Pro has a Windows emulator you can install that I found works perfectly on most of my old Windows 7 games. This was a surprise bonus feature.

    ZorinOS 17 has no match.
It is stable, snappy and elegant.
It supports flatpaks/appimages/snaps/windows .exe files out of the box, so you won't miss a thing.
Runs on wayland, and the app-center is awesome, incorporating flatpak/snap search.
Aesthetics are awesome, the cube-3d window environment is mesmerizing, the Zorin plymouth screen is dreamy.
You can tell that the devs have done everything right!
It is rare to find such attention to detail, for things seemingly unimportant, and actually make an intuitive, functional, sane and good-looking GUI.
Mint on the other hand, looks like it came out straight from the early 90's, ffs!
Cinnamon looks insanely dated. We're in 2024.
    Anyways.. Enjoy whichever you choose!
Edit: The music is too loud and distracting, please do not repeat this.

I'm switching from Windows 10 to Zorin OS Core 17, hope it goes well! Tried both Linux Mint Cinnamon and Zorin through Virtual Machines and for me, Zorin fits!

Useful information which confirms my leaning towards Zorin . Zorin OS 17 Core is where I will probably start until I get familiar with the system. If all goes well and I can upgrade to the pro version , then I will happily ditch Windows. I currently use Windows 10 on my main computer, which I actually like, but, I am not able to upgrade to Windows 11 because my pc doesn't meet the requirements and do not want to anyway . Zorin definitely looks to be the best way to go.

You can still upgrade to 11, just have to install via usb my guy! I've done it heaps of times and never found any bugs.
That said linux mint is still O.P or go fedora if you want the latest in Linux dev

Both distros are very similar: Ubuntu LTS base, desktop environments with GNOME roots but Windows-like user experience, and targeted to desktop users who want a stable, polished system that doesn't change too often. But I think Mint is the better, more future-proof choice:
    - Cinnamon is a well-established desktop environment that's also available on other distros
    - They have proven to provide a consistently great quality over many years
    - They are quicker with adopting the most recent Ubuntu LTS base
    - There is a Debian edition as well, so in case Ubuntu doesn't serve as a base well enough anymore, they have an alternative in place already
    - Uses less system resources, snappier operation, and provides alternative slim desktops for even weaker systems
    - It's 100% free and has a bigger community
    Zorin on the other hand:
    - Customizes GNOME heavily, but GNOME makes such customization harder and harder which forces Zorin to stick to older versions of different core applications
    - They are pretty slow with adopting the most recent Ubuntu LTS base
    - There is an Xfce-based version for weaker systems but it's based on a 4 years old Ubuntu LTS, so not suitable for modern hardware
    - Needs a more powerful system to run smoothly
Zorin is still a great distro, and it might even work better on certain systems because of the more modern GNOME base. But the Mint folks are just so incredibly good at what they're doing that it's really hard to compete with Mint in the regular-user desktop space.

    Congratulations on the video.
As you say, both are excellent options for newcomers to Gnu Linux.
In my case, I opted for Zorin Os because I find the desktop options that this version brings very attractive, and have allowed me to improve productivity.
    Greetings and good luck.

What is never considered, as most of the videos are made in English, is language support and localisation. Both offer a good level of localisation to other languages up to the point where almost no English is used. This is important for the acceptance of an OS desktop as well as application localisation. There is still a lot of people out in the world that don't understand a single word of the English language. Developer tend to overlook this a lot wondering why Linux on the desktop isn't used as a daily driver. BTW, I use Zorin for its ease of use and the better localisation to my native language. Linux Mint is at the same level regarding localisation, but I don't like any of their desktops. Looking at Wubuntu lately I might switch if the localisation gets better as I grow up with Windows. But MS is freakin' me out with all what they did to Windows 11 and plans for Windows 12 beside the fact that I don't have the money to spend on new hardware and software whenever they declare their products end of life. I have family to feed and bills to pay.

Alright Chatsters. I'm just about ready to make the full on switch. Coming from Mac, 10.13.6 on a beast of the Mid 2011 iMac. The lovely fusion drive. I got all my importants on an external and a cloud service. I'm leaning to Zorro, lol but can be happy with Mint. It's more of a compatibility of old files w new. I recently tried Zorin and it is not bad though I find it is really that much different than say Debian with the Cinnimon desktop. It is more polished though and reminds me a lot of Windows which I am not sure I want in a Linux distro. There are some issues with it though that I don't like. One glaring one is there native user account app does not allow you to add or remove groups for a user, at least not graphically though it could be done through the commandline I am sure. Luckily, the normal users and groups app is available through the software app.
One thing Zorin can't do like most if not all Linux distros is run Windows apps. It is a crap shoot as to which ones will work or not. There are more apps now that support Linux, but most of the apps I have tried just don't work. They either won't install or they won't run at all. For this reason I doubt I will get rid of Windows anytime soon.
