He was thinking in ways that people wouldn't think in for years. RIP in peace witchery, my all-time favorite mod
I love Witchery, it's one of my favorite mods. I have played around with Bewitchment back in 1.16.5, a mod that aimed to recreate Witchery and all a lot more content (like snakes, ravens) but I found it wasn't the same, also there wasn't much content.... (but that was YEARS ago). It has been updated to this day, but haven't checked it out so far... maybe it's better now than it was the first time I tried it. @@franciasii2435 I disagree here, personally. Even though 1.20+ has a lot of mod content, there are many FANTASTIC mods that are better, IMO, that are only available pre-1.20. I will always downgrade to play thaumcraft or classic versions of Tinkers or Blood magic, since I don't like some of the changes they've made in recent versions. Applied energistics is one of my favorite mods OF ALL TIME, but in recent versions, refined storage is getting more support from addons and compat because most people like it more. (which is fine, I'm just not one of them) Plus, I personally really like ProjectE, and 1.12.2 has the most addons and compat for that... And going back to witchery... same as with thaumcraft or older versions of existing mods, I ROUTINELY go back to older versions to play it. So... no... 1.20+ has NOT eclipsed older versions... at least not IMO. 1.20+ feels to me like "Quantity of Quality.: There's a lot of content, but so much of it pales in comparison to what has come before.

It's true. They're the second or third generation of modded Minecraft UA-camrs. But they're just about the oldest that remain, apart from Direwolf20 who is still going strong.
Unstable ingots were the bane of my existence 😂 i used to have the WORST potato pc and even on the lowest possible settings i was lucky to see 15fps in the best of conditions, so those recipes were literally impossible for me to do legit bc i lagged so bad that crafting before they exploded wasnt possible
Very nice video. I noticed that there are like, no minecraft mod video essays or in-depth mod documentaries out there, so this is the kind of content that i look forward to. This is a nice peek into the community around modding, or at least your opinion of it. Subbed
If Ice and Fire Dragons didn't have the aggro range so high by default it would be S tier, but getting constantly molested by dragons at world spawn doesn't make your modpack "difficult" it makes it frustrating and unfun. "But that's the point it's supposed to be brutal" don't care + didn't ask + we have different tastes
Assuming we're talking about RLCraft, I only kind of agree with this take. As of RLCraft 2.9.3 dragons will only really attack you if you aren't careful. Exploring too fast will get you in trouble if you dont look to the sky. I will say though that the amount of dragons in RLCraft is a little excessive. I would prefer them being a lot rarer, making dragon bone equipment more sought after.
@@megamiana-spaceforcecomman705 the entire reason spawns are randomized in RLCraft is to minimize the getting molested by dragons only seconds after spawning in. Every mod pack I've created with Ice and Fire dragons I've had to play the first bit in creative to find a place to establish a base.
Don't know if anyone mentioned it, but I noticed that there was no mention of how Botania and Blood Magic started as addons to Thaumcraft. They each quickly became independent of Thaumcraft while maintaining their compatibility with it in part so that they could be playable in new Minecraft updates without needing to wait for the new updates and changes to the parent mod.
@@pun10123 Yep. I think when I had first heard about it was on a direwolf20 multiplayer modded let's play shortly before those mods were released to the public since the server was a mod testing server that several devs used to work out bugs.
Astral Sorcery also started out as a Thaumcraft addon. Today it has innate compatibility. Whenever you have Astral Sorcery and Thaumcraft in one modpack, when you attune yourself to a star (and get the skill tree) one of the perks will increase your runic shielding at the cost of your health
Dimensional Doors was not released in 2018, that was when it got ported from a previous version and put on curseforge, while I don't know exactly when it released DanTDM has a video playing it released in 2013
A mod I think definitely deserves to be on here is Adventurecraft. It was a mod all the way back in the previous days of the game, and it essentially added Zelda elements to the game, while also giving tools for more advanced adventure map development. It had A scripting system before command blocks were introduced. A lock and key system. The entire base game was replaced with a game mode that prevents block breaking without the use of certain tools, way before the game introduced adventure mode. It had A wooden shield way before dual-wielding was introduced. It was so advanced.
@@pun10123-.-I think it stopped being updated not too long after the official release of Minecraft, because it changed the code base too much. Though I've also heard there is A revival of it now. It was either it or Zombiecraft that was the first total conversion mod for Minecraft.
I like how he implies RL Craft is infamous just for having Lycanites mobs, and not the fact that the modpack is crafted specifically to make you rip your nuts off.
All the errors I’ve noticed: rei is for both forge and fabric and is just better than jei in many ways. It’s becoming the default. There’s also EMI which is more fabric exclusive(though is also on forge), and is more different from jei/rei Forge is much easier to develop for than fabric, fabric focuses on being lightweight and barebones while forge has more features and apis to make dev’s lives easier. Edit: this is personal preference, I should’ve figured. None of the sky factory packs were developed by darkosto except 4, he was just the one to put the projects on curseforge Rubidium is very outdated, I don’t think it’s even updated anymore. The successors are embeddium and xenon. The cryo-stabilized fluxduct exists in new thermal dynamic versions in spirit, just not in name. They removed conduit tiering entirely, with the leadstone fluxduct transporting infinite rf/tick *1.12.2 and 1.7.10 were big because of the following versions having big changes, not the preceding versions Not an error, just some extra info: the aether dev was actually the designer of the warden Project ozone 3 has a difficulty above titan, mythic. However it’s a little controversial afaik, with some people seeing it as actually being easier than kappa, but much more grindy Nomifactory ceu is the go to over nomifactory, it has a bunch of nice tweaks over the original, and uses gtceu over gtce, which is generally seen as better and easier to use(afaik again), also including some gt 5 content Very few mods I know of are configured with json files, the default is .cfg files on 1.12 and .toml files on newer. I don’t know for pre 1.12. Neoforge 1.21 readds the ingame config menu Mcreator deserves its negative reputation, it’s a huge source of lag and the code is just atrocious to try to read or edit. Little tiles does not basically do the same thing, it’s what if chisels and bits could also be functional(doors, trapdoors, chests, etc) Lunapixel has also received criticism for their luna library stopping you from editing their packs if you want to play multiplayer, you can’t join servers if you’ve added mods to the pack The system from ae2 is called “spatial storage” not “spatial confinement” Terrafirmagreg has not been beaten mostly because the pack doesn’t have an end game yet, it’s not at all finished (If you couldn’t tell I’m also from the terminally online modded mc community, just the discord instead of the subreddit)
yo I gotta publically apologize, I just used REI for the first time and it is better lmao, still some things are a little strange but overall it legit is better, will be using it in all my modpacks now
1:15:27 "this is the closest gregtech has gotten to homestuck that I know" I had a feverish vision of a horrifically elaborate modpack that incorporates the SBURB mod and gregtech. mark my words, it *will* happen.
One thing this video doesn't cover regarding Reika- and the primary reason why people stopped bothering with her mods even before she made the decision to not move past 1.7.10 is because of her absolutely godawful attitude, which became most apparent when she introduced an update checker- a completely unremovable banner at the top of the screen informing you that one of your mods was out of date, a new line for *each* out of date mod, which would also appear offline (update check failed- again this happened for *each* reika mod). It frustrated end users who did not care for every small hotfix patch with the high frequency that reika would update (seriously it was like every other day, sometimes every day), it frustrated modpack users who did not wish to update individual mods and risk breaking the pack wholly, and it frustrated modpack creators who didn't want to push a patch every other day just because reika did or be screamed at with "bug reports" over reika's decisions. What's worse though, is this utterly broke thaumcraft's own shaders- if you had an update note on the screen and any of thaumcraft's thaumic-warp effects occured, you were given a completely white screen until the debuff had entirely ended. Some of thaumcraft's effects were subtle things that could last as much as three minutes long, and despite the visuals appearing strictly behind UI elements like storage or inventory, the white screen completely covered your entire game window including making the pause screen impossible to see. Reika's response to this situation was to double down on ""every update is important, you wouldn't have the banner if you didn't leave yourself behind", to push zero-changes "updates" to curseforge randomly a few times every day for almost a week, and even had the gall to say the white screen effect caused by her update banner was thaumcraft's fault. People got sick of dealing with her attitude over what's "right" in minecraft modding, and the incompatibility she caused but refused to fix with thaumcraft making any modpack essentially unplayable with both mods at once meant people started deferring to what was generally agreed upon as the more fun of the two mods, with the volatile personality demonstrated also causing modpacks appearing after that event to appear suddenly much less often, with several existing modpacks dropping the mods out of the packs because of the "bug reports" it caused getting incredibly frustrating to deal with, very fast. Mysteriously, now that she's moved off minecraft modding and onto factorio modding, Reika does not have these concerns anymore. Funny, that.
@@pun10123 Even to this day I don't believe Reika is a bad person wholly, just stubborn to a degree that can't- or at least shouldn't- be overlooked. That stubbornness led to people just not wanting to deal with her, and that should have been a wake-up call.
Doesn't mention Factorization, Railcraft, Red Power / Project Red, Forcecraft, Logistic Pipes, Mystical agriculture "too op" opinions, Regrowth modpack and 700 different other historical bs facts that only old modded players know Literally unwatchable /s Jokes aside, one of the best iceberg videos I've seen in general
@@pun10123yeah I guessed that just a few minutes ago. So many great historical mods I wish would have been captured better and are mostly in our minds at this point. Heck, I remember editing my Minecraft jar file directly and smashing as many mods together as I could that didn't conflict. Usually just went with BTW though.
i was playing monifactory and my gf saw the little discord thingy that said "start gregfiying the world" or something like this. she just dmed me "careful, if you Greg too much you can become gregnant and won't pay Greg support" it made my day ngl
Also, the missing of RedPower (2) is a big miss, it was about as fundamental as IC2 and Buildcraft in shaping where modding would head. RedPower seems to be remembered largely for it's wires, but the blutricity system and moving gantries were WILD at the time and we're honestly only just now really caught up.
redpower 2 from eloraam was often used for their pneumatic pipes that didnt spill items around like buildcraft did and like direwolf20 demonstrated it had a very nice flying machine
My hot take is that all of mojang's redstone updates post RP has been trying to figure out how much they could get away from taking from Eloraam without people complaining.
This is one of the most high quality modded Minecraft icebergs I've ever watched and I cannot wait to see what other content you make in the future. And I don't mean to be that guy but here's a correction... RLCraft still actively updated and they're working on a big update with some interesting stuff that people have been wanting for years... ;) Also I dont mean to come off as ungrateful but I hope you do make a sequel because there's so much more to cover such as... - Better Than Adventure which is an entire overhaul for Minecraft Beta 1.7.3. It's like Minecraft stopped development and then came back with the same feeling of old Minecraft. By the way there's so many mods for it they basically use their own modified version of fabric so theres basically mods for a mod and there's one that's basically a tech mod called Signal Industries you can find this stuff in the Discord and there's two discords one for official stuff and one for modded. - Reindev which is like better than adventure but leans into the more experimental history and features from Minecraft's earliest development stages. - Lycanites Mobs I saw some clips with it in there but I think it's great if it was elaborated more by the way they're updating it to new versions currently the one I know of is for Forge 1.20.1. At the time of writing. - Between Lands being updated to newer versions but I'm pretty sure you know about this. - Same with Electroblob's Wizardry. - The general developer of all the Alex mods series and the stuff he has made like cloud storage which is like simplified storage which is really nice. - Lex that Forge guy... - And probably so much more but I don't know it's suitable or appropriate at this time. If you need more just ask me in the comments I'm basically a encyclopedia when it comes to stuff like this. Anyways good video and I really enjoyed watching it you're editing style is really nice.
45:19 I was playing factorio while watching this. factorio is so good for anyone who loves automation modpacks. I cannot stop playing. The factory must grow. The factory must grow. The factory must grow. The factory must grow. The factory must grow. I LOVE CRACKTORIO The factory must grow. The factory must grow. The factory must grow. The factory must grow. The factory must grow.
27:42 Carpet's author also now works at Mojang and successfully shipped /tick (one of the many killer features of Carpet) into Minecraft itself. 45:27 Fun fact: Factorio's upcoming major version reworked how its liquids and pipes worked, and the new system is described explicitly as "an algorithm [for handling fluids] very close to one he [developer Rseding] had played with several times, an algorithm from the Minecraft mod Thermal Expansion by team CoFH". (Quoted from Factorio's blog, Friday Facts #416) Great video. Considering the length, the only way everything that arguably needs to be mentioned could be mentioned is if this is in a wiki format, which… well, I hope modded info on Minecraft Wiki (or somewhere else perhaps) could be revitalized
10:44 server-side mods could also just be on the server-side if you're talking about playing on a multiplayer server, but more times than not they are required on both sides
Also, Tekkit also had it's controversy. When it was originally created it included Forestry (And I believe other mods as well) without the authors permission, so Sengir added malicious code that would affect people using Technic/Tekkit. I'm not 100% sure on what the code did but if I recall well it corrupted worlds of people using the pack/launcher.
Mekanism cardboard boxes are useful on 1.7.10 for thaumcraft node aspects changing. Free gambling. Put for example empty node in a box and get full with different aspects.
Awesome video! I'll only mention a couple things you may find interesting. First, dimensional doors was definitely released before 2018. I don't know when, but i remember playing that mod pre 1.7, so it at minimum goes back to 2013. I'm glad i looked this up before I typed this next part out. There is a game called vintage story that is a block game like Minecraft, but heavily survival focused. I thought it was originally terrafirmacraft, but it was originally something called vintagecraft and evolved into a standalone game, taking heavy inspiration from tfc. I thought you might find that interesting!
The horse implementation came from Mo' Creatures, a mod that never gave permissions for being added to modpacks and therefore became sort of forgotten over time but that was very popular back in the day.
I'm delighted to see TerrafirmaGreg being the deepest in your iceberg video. Started a playthrough a month ago and the russain devs are cooking. This is one of the most well integrated Greg packs I've ever seen. And also makes create mod somewhat balanced for steam progression.
47:23 What do you mean, allegedly? They were taken pretty much directly from Mo'Creatures. The creator of Mo'Creatures even helped implement the horses into vanilla minecraft, if I remember correctly. Also, at 50:48 you've said that bits are 1/16 the size of regular blocks, which is incorrect. Each block is made of 16x16x16 (16^3, duh), which equals to *4096* . 1:04:39, the "clay is balanced" meme actually stems from a quote by slowpoke (FTB dev): "Clay is great for balancing modpacks because there are so few ways to automate it". 1:13:07, It was never actually called the "Jenny mod". It was initially called the "Schnurri tv sex mod", and a newer, better version of it is now called "Fapcraft".
Thank you for the corrections! I said "allegedly" because I had heard (somewhere) that horses may not have been added from Mo'Creatures and I guess that got stuck in my head
I always love to hear the Calamity Soundtrack used in videos. It would be interesting to see someone try to make a Minecraft mod like that, though Minecraft's combat is much less suited to that sort of thing I'd say.
It's crazy how much stuff there is in here I don't know considering I've been playing with mods since 1.6 era. Also not mentioning Flan's Mod is crazy :P
I hadn't finished watching the video but was expecting a large segment dedicated to Flans Mod, especially since Flan just relaunched the mod for newer verisons. The Monorisu series of modpacks are still around to this day and have stretched the mod to limits I've never considered possible like working Aircraft carriers, submarines, fully modeled ballistics/armor penetration systems stolen straight from War Thunder, and they literally recreated hearts of iron inside of Minecraft.
Very good video, this video is the best I've seen so far that I've seen paint a relatively neutral painting of modded MC to the average player, unlike many other videos that are more meme-like. I think this is a great video to show to friends who are unfamiliar with modding or people who want to get to know the ecosystem. Several things that I would like to comment on: 18:38 I know it's a but nitpicky, but on newer TE there is only one fluxduct and it has infinite (or java int limit) transfer rate, so you could say that the functionality of the cryo stabilized is carried on. 22:16 IC1 is very, VERY old, I believe it only exists on beta before being quickly replaced by ic2. IC2 has no native eu-rf compact (I think) but there had been a lot of converter mods throughout history. IC2 classic does have native converters, though (and it is less "dead" than ic2 exp, as it is ported to 1.19). 23:13 also nitpick, but technically RF/FE behavior heavily depends on the mod, but your generalization works for most common mods. 25:45 might have to doublecheck MC version for tekkit in the info card 31:42 worth mentioning that GTNH is about the journey, not completing the pack. Feel like too many people now only tunnelvision on the SG and potentially miss out on the content NH has to offer if you take your time and enjoy the process. Not really a criticism, this is just my opinion on NH among all the publicity and memes. 32:29 KHARAX82 MENTIONED‼‼‼(btw if you like a challenge, don't be turned down by the "thousands of hours", most of the enjoyment of the pack comes out of the process and you are better off setting your own goals. SG is basically a meme at this point, it was never meant to be obtained by the average player.) 34:05 THANK YOU for making the distinction between GT versions!!!!!!! Too many people see every GT as "one" and now GT mods are all jumbled up into one single mess. I think most people now will think GTCE/GTNH's GT5u only when GT is mentioned, and I think this is very unfortunate as it obscures the variety and history in Gregtech and instead becomes OOOH DIFFICULT MOD MACHINES EXPLODE PLATLINE STARGATE GREG GREG 34:41 might be worth mentioning the similarities between GT EU and IC2 EU as GT used to use IC2 EU back when it is still an addon. I have medium knowledge of GT6 and pre-GT5 GT so AMA. 43:39 strange, why do I feel like I've been seeing .cfg for configs more? I will update this comment as I watch the rest of the video and/or receive corrections, so correct me if I made any mistakes.
A video as long as this would definitely benefit from better audio It's well researched and enjoyable, but i sometimes find myself having to relisten to some phrases. This is, of course, up to you. You've put your all into this one video and it has thus been recommended to a lot of people.
I remember watching the tekkit let's plays waay back. One of the biggest reasons it got so famous was it's multiplayer compatibility in a time where mods had to have a server and a client version. There was bigger modpacks like the technic pack (r.i.p) but they were single player only.
A slight correction about the standardized forge energy system, there is actually a very polular storage and automation mod that does infact use a completely unique power type and has even uncluded a block whose sole purpose is to translate forge energy into the mods energy, that mod is Applied Energistics 2, their energy system is for some stupid reason completely disconnected from the energy standardization that we got with forge energy
I genuinely only clicked on this because I saw ChromatiCraft on the thumbnail, then skipped ahead to where I saw you go over it (or, well, Reika's mods as a whole). They are, without a doubt, my favorite mods ever made, and I'd recommend anyone who can stand 1.7 jank in the modern era to give them a try - your few lines about them didn't really do them justice considering their size and depth, imo. I saw the actual image for this iceberg elsewhere. There is a surprising amount of stuff on it, but some things feel notably absent. Other comments seem to have covered those though so I won't repeat what's already been said.
Speaking of lesser known mods that add a good amount of content id love to see you mention Enigmatic Legacy, edit: it also has a normally unobtainable hidden item that is locked behind some form of encryption, ive only heard vague references to it in the creators discord and there is basically no information about what it actually does or how to get it
Been in modded since 2014 or so. You missed a ton of 1.4 - 1.7 era stuff like flans mod and its multiple public servers and the monorisu, group who still make 1.7 flans+ add-ons since 2014. The herobrine 1.7 mod craze, fucking blightfall was not mentioned. On european youtube 1.6 and 1.5 modding has been massive, hence massive part if not most players are slavs or germans, discounting the chinese. The constant Reddit shilling tells me you joined around 2017-2018
Horses were added in 1.5 because Mojang decided to work together on new horse design with the creator of mo'creatures. If I recall correctly he is even credited in the game for it.
I am surprised Stargate is so low down, especially since that is like the end goal of modded minecraft as whole. I have been playing GTNH on and off for like 2 years now and hope one day I will obtain it. I also am so happy you put MC Eternal on the list. That is such an amazing modpack, and the first modpack I ever "finished". I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to get into modded minecraft or wants just a super solid experience.
Just watchet the video and wanted to say we appreciate videos like this , alot of effort is seen here obviously really nice knowledge of the mods im excited for the future :D
"What is this and how do i get rid of it" i saw the thaumcraft 6 rifts for the first time and my only thought was "how bad of a rift can i make?" And thus began a 2 hour long process of me grossly over filling cauldrons with garbage to make flux, apparently the rifts were capped at a very tame 2 chunks of maximum effective range iirc
This video must have been a lot of effort. It was a very entertaining listen while I did homework, thank you! I learned a lot from it actually. Keep it up :D
Some of my favorite modded Minecraft things through the years Tekkit Classic, more specifically, playing with Equivalent Exchange (Project E/EE2). It was broken as hell, but it was so fun. Building 128x128 quarries, excavating like crazy with the red morning star, and going even crazier with the excavation catalyst. I would build EMC generation "flowers" and duplicate them with the transmutation table, just to see how fast I could produce klein star omegas. Good times man. Orespawn is my all time favorite standalone mod. It was just so magical whenever I played it. My favorite dimension was red ant and I would just run around collecting rocks to throw at bosses instead of actually fighting them the right way lol. I remember getting stuck in the scorpion bouncy houses and feeling like shit when i bounced around and died instantly. Also i seem to remember half the time I started a new world I would spawn in a dessert and immediately be assaulted by 10 criminals moving at mach 3. Getting the lightning staff felt like i became God, for 30 seconds until it's shit durability ran out. 41:59 you can download in on the Technic launcher if you can run 1.7.10. Also, the mod is being resurrected under a new name, Chaos Awakens. They're redoing all the items, textures, sound effects, AI, etc. It's really amazing to see. 45:19 never knew this lol. it makes total sense though Seeing the footage from Dimensional Doors mod is giving me PTSD. I encountered them when playing Hexxit I believe, and I would always have no idea where I was after like 2 doors. Not too related but watching Sundee's let's play of SF1, SF2, Crash Landing, and a couple of other modpacks was memorable Now it's really unrelated bc it's just not modded but dammit I'm nostalgic right now. There was an old cops and robbers RP session between JeromeASF, Bajan Canadian, Basher (rip), Sky Does Minecraft, and xrpmx13. It it probably the funniest and most nostalgic video that I remember aaaahhhh the memories
@Azatia Just FYI: I didn't develop TerraFirmaCraft, I took over development from the OG dev team (mainly Bioxx), did some fixes and uploaded it to CurseForge. I did the first post 1.7.10 port, but the project now has a new dev team. Still thanks for the mention though
i think it came from mdiyo? with how tinkers is incredibly powerful but "it's balanced because you have to find clay" (at least that's how direwolf used to tell it)
Not really. It was because the ftb team didn’t wanted to include Quark for a bunch of “balance reasons” and one of said reasons was on how it generated clay underground. I remember back everyone mocked them
Slight addition to clay is balanced, this originated from Slowpoke, aka the creator of FTB, he once said that "Clay is great for balancing modpacks because there are so few ways to automate it."
neoforge is quite literally the continuation of forge starting with 1.21. The vast majority of Forge Engineers stopped developing for it and created Neoforge. One does not use Forge starting with 1.21 anymore, it's Neoforge now.
Ah, i remember my first time playing draconic evolution 😂 i vaguely remember setting up the first reactor with my friend and hearing the words "is the containment field supposed to be at 1%?" Approximately .3 seconds before the reactor, us and everything for like 50 chunks in all directions was reduced to atoms 😂
Funny story i had a difficulty with ae2 a couple years back, couldnt figure out why my cpu core wasnt running, spent 20 hours trying to figure out the problem, ended up asking for help on a forum and ae2’s author reached out and we spent 6 more hours before we figured out the issue haha. Fun times xD
Technic forums breach not mentioned. I think that one is a huge somewhat fringe modded MC community topic lol. also distinguishing technic (the originaly modpack) from technic classic (made later) is something I find that nobody even knows about. Technic (the modpack) predates tekkit. It was my favorite. I have an old version of the technic launcher hovering around somewhere...

About the "modded content that made it to vanilla" point, in 1.6.4 and 1.7.10 there used to be a mod that allowed you to dual wield before they introduced the second hand, and it also had battle axes before mojang made axes a viable weapon, it might have had shields too but i don't remember exactly. thought in this mod dual wielding weapons was viable since that was the whole point of the mod
havent watched but will entirely judge this on whether it includes the most revolutionary and innovative mods ever, Equivalent Exchange, Thaumcraft 3,4,5, and airship mod. thanks for making this if my constraints arent met regardless. stay inspired much love
I know about the horses thing-- they originally came from a mod called Mo'Creatures. When 1.6 came around and they added horses to vanilla, they took the model straight from Mo'creatures and gave it a fresh texture. I forget if the mod creator had any involvement or opinion either way, but later versions of the mod still had their own horses in addition to the vanilla ones, able to interbreed with vanilla horses to create different types of non-vanilla horses-- even unicorns, pegasi, and fairy horses.

(which is fine, I'm just not one of them)
Plus, I personally really like ProjectE, and 1.12.2 has the most addons and compat for that...

100% agree with you LOL

Damn, I'm surprised this is the first time I've ever heard of this mod, seeing as it was so ahead of its time!
@@pun10123-.-I think it stopped being updated not too long after the official release of Minecraft, because it changed the code base too much. Though I've also heard there is A revival of it now. It was either it or Zombiecraft that was the first total conversion mod for Minecraft.

All the errors I’ve noticed:
rei is for both forge and fabric and is just better than jei in many ways. It’s becoming the default. There’s also EMI which is more fabric exclusive(though is also on forge), and is more different from jei/rei
Forge is much easier to develop for than fabric, fabric focuses on being lightweight and barebones while forge has more features and apis to make dev’s lives easier. Edit: this is personal preference, I should’ve figured.
None of the sky factory packs were developed by darkosto except 4, he was just the one to put the projects on curseforge
Rubidium is very outdated, I don’t think it’s even updated anymore. The successors are embeddium and xenon.
The cryo-stabilized fluxduct exists in new thermal dynamic versions in spirit, just not in name. They removed conduit tiering entirely, with the leadstone fluxduct transporting infinite rf/tick
*1.12.2 and 1.7.10 were big because of the following versions having big changes, not the preceding versions
Not an error, just some extra info: the aether dev was actually the designer of the warden
Project ozone 3 has a difficulty above titan, mythic. However it’s a little controversial afaik, with some people seeing it as actually being easier than kappa, but much more grindy
Nomifactory ceu is the go to over nomifactory, it has a bunch of nice tweaks over the original, and uses gtceu over gtce, which is generally seen as better and easier to use(afaik again), also including some gt 5 content
Very few mods I know of are configured with json files, the default is .cfg files on 1.12 and .toml files on newer. I don’t know for pre 1.12.
Neoforge 1.21 readds the ingame config menu
Mcreator deserves its negative reputation, it’s a huge source of lag and the code is just atrocious to try to read or edit.
Little tiles does not basically do the same thing, it’s what if chisels and bits could also be functional(doors, trapdoors, chests, etc)
Lunapixel has also received criticism for their luna library stopping you from editing their packs if you want to play multiplayer, you can’t join servers if you’ve added mods to the pack
The system from ae2 is called “spatial storage” not “spatial confinement”
Terrafirmagreg has not been beaten mostly because the pack doesn’t have an end game yet, it’s not at all finished

Shit, I had no idea about this. Kinda sad to hear about considering how cool her mods were
@@pun10123 Even to this day I don't believe Reika is a bad person wholly, just stubborn to a degree that can't- or at least shouldn't- be overlooked. That stubbornness led to people just not wanting to deal with her, and that should have been a wake-up call.

Yep. Sad to see Eloraam mostly disappearing with very rare updates on a "game" version of redpower that will never release or be close to the mod.
redpower 2 from eloraam was often used for their pneumatic pipes that didnt spill items around like buildcraft did and like direwolf20 demonstrated it had a very nice flying machine
it had a very dupe bug though in 1.4.7
My hot take is that all of mojang's redstone updates post RP has been trying to figure out how much they could get away from taking from Eloraam without people complaining.
what odd is, cause Redpower was always all rights reserved
This is one of the most high quality modded Minecraft icebergs I've ever watched and I cannot wait to see what other content you make in the future. And I don't mean to be that guy but here's a correction...
RLCraft still actively updated and they're working on a big update with some interesting stuff that people have been wanting for years... ;)
Also I dont mean to come off as ungrateful but I hope you do make a sequel because there's so much more to cover such as...

This vid was a weird but pleasant combo of everything I love, from the music selection to the mods.
The horse implementation came from Mo' Creatures, a mod that never gave permissions for being added to modpacks and therefore became sort of forgotten over time but that was very popular back in the day.
the problem with mo'creatures is that it has its own mob spawning system which ruins other mods

39:40 Threefold mentioned!!!!
YO im like 17 minutes into the video and i just now realise THIS GUY ONLY HAS 500 SUBS... what? Incredible quality bro wtf
Very good video, this video is the best I've seen so far that I've seen paint a relatively neutral painting of modded MC to the average player, unlike many other videos that are more meme-like. I think this is a great video to show to friends who are unfamiliar with modding or people who want to get to know the ecosystem.
Several things that I would like to comment on:
18:38 I know it's a but nitpicky, but on newer TE there is only one fluxduct and it has infinite (or java int limit) transfer rate, so you could say that the functionality of the cryo stabilized is carried on.
25:45 might have to doublecheck MC version for tekkit in the info card
31:42 worth mentioning that GTNH is about the journey, not completing the pack.
SG is basically a meme at this point, it was never meant to be obtained by the average player.)
34:05 THANK YOU for making the distinction between GT versions!!!!!!! Too many people see every GT as "one" and now GT mods are all jumbled up into one single mess. I think most people now will think GTCE/GTNH's GT5u only when GT is mentioned, and I think this is very unfortunate as it obscures the variety and history in Gregtech and instead becomes OOOH DIFFICULT MOD MACHINES EXPLODE PLATLINE STARGATE GREG GREG
34:41 might be worth mentioning the similarities between GT EU and IC2 EU as GT used to use IC2 EU back when it is still an addon. I have medium knowledge of GT6 and pre-GT5 GT so AMA.
43:39 strange, why do I feel like I've been seeing .cfg for configs more?
I will update this comment as I watch the rest of the video and/or receive corrections, so correct me if I made any mistakes.
You are probably right obout .cfgs, I think I originally meant the entry about JSON file editing in general but lost the plot somewhere

Betweenlands is the most underrated mod, they had the new cave system back in 1.12 and before, and mob ai was great

True, I hope that the upcoming 1.21 port will bring back some hype

Farmer's Delight and its many spinoffs is pretty notable imo

Tekkit Classic, more specifically, playing with Equivalent Exchange (Project E/EE2).
45:19 never knew this lol. it makes total sense though
Seeing the footage from Dimensional Doors mod is giving me PTSD. I encountered them when playing Hexxit I believe, and I would always have no idea where I was after like 2 doors.
Not too related but watching Sundee's let's play of SF1, SF2, Crash Landing, and a couple of other modpacks was memorable
Now it's really unrelated bc it's just not modded but dammit I'm nostalgic right now.
Thanks for the correction!
Minecraft mods are the true ambition of the community
iirc the "clay is balanced" meme originates from an incident that relates to the modpack FTB Beyond, though I forget exactly what it's about
i think it came from mdiyo? with how tinkers is incredibly powerful but "it's balanced because you have to find clay" (at least that's how direwolf used to tell it)
Not really. It was because the ftb team didn’t wanted to include Quark for a bunch of “balance reasons” and one of said reasons was on how it generated clay underground. I remember back everyone mocked them
Oooo good video, gonna have to check out Meatballcraft now!
The disappearance of Emoniph (dev of Witchery and Intangible) should definitely be on here.
Another fun fact, WAILA was originally created as a utility mod for use with Tinkers Construct so you could tell if your tool was strong enough or not
Crazy that there is a video this good and long from a channel with only 250 subs
Slight addition to clay is balanced, this originated from Slowpoke, aka the creator of FTB, he once said that "Clay is great for balancing modpacks because there are so few ways to automate it."
the fact i knew about alpl of these things but 3 is concerning and i have realized i need to touch grass
Calamity music is just so damn iconic in pop culture and I love it. Will you do a Terraria modding iceberg?
Shame that Minestuck was never finished, I've always dreamed that Minecraft would be the vessel to make a playable Sburb.
I love how if youve been on minecraft youtube since at leats 2014 youd have heard of most if not all of these mods
neoforge is quite literally the continuation of forge starting with 1.21.
The vast majority of Forge Engineers stopped developing for it and created Neoforge.
One does not use Forge starting with 1.21 anymore, it's Neoforge now.
I enjoyed watching this very much, good iceberg
Astral sorcery not being mentioned is wild
@@darklarri9646 holy shit. I'm surprised no one commented this yet.
Ultrakill gameplay you legend
335 Subscribers is a crime, great narration man.
40:37 NTM MENTIONED ‼‼‼
NTM ON TOP 💥👏
LESSSSSS GOOOO
I’ve only recently discovered NTM and it is absolutely amazing
This is really good, you should keep up the good work
Funny story i had a difficulty with ae2 a couple years back, couldnt figure out why my cpu core wasnt running, spent 20 hours trying to figure out the problem, ended up asking for help on a forum and ae2’s author reached out and we spent 6 more hours before we figured out the issue haha.
Finally someone recognized Hbm's NTM i literally watched the video just to see if you feature it
POTATO KENISHES OHMYGOD I DIDNT KNOW THIS HAD ANYTHING WITH MINECRAFT MOD COMUNITY I SAW IT AS A KID AND YOU REMNIDED ME OF IT WHILE ALSO SHOCKING ME GREAT VIDEO THO
Homestuck being mentioned twice in 2024 is crazy
havent watched but will entirely judge this on whether it includes the most revolutionary and innovative mods ever, Equivalent Exchange, Thaumcraft 3,4,5, and airship mod. thanks for making this if my constraints arent met regardless. stay inspired much love
IChun and his mods are missing! They were quite the whacky deal - portal gun, gravity gun, morph, hats
