Thanks! Really appreciate you taking the time to watch. 100% on the good times, literally the reason I built it; a way to get off the beaten path with my family!
I have a 95 F150 XLT single cab long bed four-wheel-drive. Burgundy color manual transmission and I love it. Fully rebuilt 5.0 new transmission new clutch went to the front end Got the red head steering box but everything on this truck is build to stock it even has stock rims and tires
Nice! The truck I had started to build before this one was almost your exact truck; 95' XLT single cab long bed with an auto transmission. When we started having more kids, I needed to start an extended cab build. Lots of the parts we transferred to my current truck.
Your truck build is coming along nicely. I am looking forward to seeing more of your adventures in the old '95. I had a '96 single cab 150 4X4 with the 5.0, I gave it to a friend now I wish I had kept it...oh well. On a side note it's great to see you spending quality time with your son. Keep that '95 and your cameras rolling!

I've found on my 87' reg cab longbed (maybe same wheelbase as yours?) that gladiator rock steps/sliders fit really well if you make some stand-offs.....pretty tough and a dime a dozen.
Interesting, I'll have to look into that! I definitely need some sliders.. I have body damage on most of my panels that would have been avoided by some good sliders. Appreciate the tip!
Thanks!! Really appreciate you taking a moment to let me know!! If I can get my crazy schedule under control, next up is custom rock sliders and a new, redesigned, bed rack. …and paint.. starting to get some rust around the fenders.
Very nice truck. I prefer a set up like yours, you can leave the trailer/ camp set up while you explore the area with out having to close the tent. Beautiful area.
Thank you! I agree completely! I went back and forth for a while with having the tent on the truck because I thought taking the trailer was a bit of added work (speed was important to me so I could take my boys camping at the drop of a hat on a friday afternoon, we go 1 - 2 weekends a month) but, like you mentioned, most of the time we liked to set up camp then go explore in the truck!
Sounds great! Happy to show you what I used and how I did it. I’m currently editing a video of how I built the rear shackle hangers but once I button that up, I’ll post up a vid of the air system!
@@MisfitOBS Cool man. Thanks for the reply. 😎 I look forward to seeing more of your videos. The fine details 🤓. I came here looking for ideas for my '92 SuperCab 4×4 302 (would love to put a 351C in it!). This is fantastic! Have you calculated build cost, not including truck? (Sorry if that has been covered.)
Hi! And sorry for the delay.. That is actually the stock tailgate panel that came on the truck, I just masked it and painted it when I painted the truck.
I just came across your video and love your truck set up I have a 93 f350 and want to install the pods lights was wondering if u can make a video how you install them and if u needed any modifications done to it? Thanks you 🤝

Hi and thanks for watching! I didn't have any check engine light issues with the headers and I did not have to tune it. Keep in mind, my truck has a MAF sensor so it does a great job at adjusting for these changes; I'm not sure how the trucks with Speed Density would react, maybe someone with more knowledge can chime in..
you mentioned more accurate speed from the gps. You can reprogram the speedometer on those trucks without any computers or tuners. look up PSOM programming if you haven't already.
Hey! Sorry I missed your comment.. hope it's not too late. The tail lights, which I really like, are AmeriLite LED lights: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08FJ14ZJ6/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 the headlights are Spec D smoked headlights: They are okay but I had to modify them to accept a more powerful bulb and the halo rings are pretty dim, cant see them in daylight so I dont even use them, so I would probably go with something different if I were to do it again.. maybe.. Great video really helps me out on my obs build. Ideas and parts are not as easy to find as more modern trucks so appreciate the video. The rattle can paint job looks pretty good. Thinking about doing that to mine as well. How many cans did you go through? I have the same body style but in the 250 version. Need to change out my suspension as it’s a rough ride off road.
Thanks! There are a ton more details and nuances that went into the build then I could cover in the video, some of which probably wouldn't be very interesting to most. Its not terribly difficult to make a rig off-road capable, the challenge is making on off-road rig ride great going down the highway! took me a ton of trial and error because I found that most shops out there don't fully understand the TTB front end (even though they think they do) Maybe I'll do another down the road. Man, I wish I could tell you how many cans I used.. I messed up several panels several times and I feel like I was constantly running to Walmart to buy more paint, I lost track at some point. I think it came out to an average of 1 can of primer, and 2 cans of color per panel. (smaller panels used less, larger panels used more, that was the average). I also opted to do a UV resistant matte clear coat so an addition 2 cans per panel of that. A properly valved set of shocks and some leafs that have a softer spring rate will definitely help with your ride. My wife always mentions that my truck rides nicer going down the road than her 2015 Explorer Sport! haha.
Thanks for the info. Painting my truck will probably be last so I may just pay to get it done. Right now redoing the inside which is challenging as it’s a daily driver. Because it’s the 250 it has leaf springs which makes for a rough ride even with the reverse shackle kit. Going to upgrade the shocks soon so hopefully that helps. Not willing to spend $5k+ to upgrade to a mid travel suspension. Going to post soon some of the work I’m doing on the truck. Not a tone of content on obs truck upgrades so nice to see your content.
Hello, I have a 1994 OBS F-150 much like your dad had. I would love to get a little more information on your bill because I want to build something similar. A decent all-arounder for overlanding. I cannot find some of the parts that you have on yours.
Hi! And thanks for taking the time to watch! I'm actually going to do a Question and Answer video on this truck in the next week or so. If you want to let me know the specific parts you want more info on, I can see about including them in the video.
@@MisfitOBS I would actually like a little bit more information on the shocks and front springs. Would also like to get your opinion must haves and not really needed for the 6 inch lift on 35s. Thank you!!
Thanks!! I am going to do a Q&A episode of the truck in the next week or so and this question has come up multiple times. Hey man I have a 95 f150 xlt extended cab short bed 4x4 5.8l. I have the dual shock single spring set up like you and looking to upgrade to fox shocks. You said you got them from accutune, I was interested so I went in the website and contacted them about getting some fox shocks for my truck. They stated fox doesn’t make shocks for our year but yet you have them on your truck. Looking for the same shock set up as you but with 4 smoothies in the front as I do have dual shocks and not one like yours, then 2 reservoir shocks in the rear. Any help would be appreciated as accutune didn’t really elaborate with me. Thank uou
Haha. Yeah, welcome to the world of “nobody makes anything for our trucks”. It can be done but you won’t be purchasing anything that is “made” to go on your truck. Ima do a video in the next week going over the recovery equipment I keep in the truck; I’ll address your shock question in more detail in that video! Otherwise I’d be writing you a novel😂. Stay tuned!
Thanks for watching! You can definitely purchase those trim pieces in black, just a quick google search will give you tons of options. However, I did paint my trim pieces on this build. I used Rustoleum Professional Enamel spray paint.
Thanks for watching! It's a semi-float Dana 60 out of a 1999 Van E-250. The Semi float gives you the flexibility of lots of different axle shaft options. Semi-float rear ends are great options for jeeps, bronco's and half-ton trucks so you don't have to buy a completely new set of rims or swap out your front axle to match the 8 lug variants. Some people will argue the the full-floats are far superior, and they are probably right.. but I have been running this semi-float for 15 years with 0 issues or breakages.. 35's are a non-issue for this axle, no matter how I abuse it.
Thank you! Haha, you could make a pretty compelling argument on why to never put a 302 in a full size rig (especially the old pushrod 302)😇 and there'd be a million and one reasons why you'd be correct! However, the 302 is a great fit for me for a couple reasons. I'm actually planning on getting out on the trail early next week; I'll put a video together with couple reasons someone might want to consider the 302 and answer the rest of your question in person.. kinda.. on video anyway, about why I went with a 95 F-150. Stay tuned and I will drop a link to the video here when it's up so you get a notification. Thanks for watching!
Just posted a video addressing why I chose this rig and why the 5.0 is a pretty good fit for me. I didnt address F250/350s directly in the video but for off-roading, you have much softer suspension options from the get-go without having to get too custom. The f150 runs coils in the front where the 250/350s have leaf springs up front, I like the ride of coils better for off-road. Heres the vid that goes into a bit more detail: ua-cam.com/video/lStLHWDteBk/v-deo.html
@@princeali2555 , thats a tough one. I'm not very familiar with the clearances on the 2WD versions of this truck. My guess (and it is a guess, so make sure you verify before listening to me) is around a 31" tire before you have rubbing issues. My reasoning is that I ran a 31" tire on this truck before it was lifted and had room for a bit bigger if I had too, with the 2WD being a bit lower in the front, my assumption would be 31" would clear but not with a lot of room for error. Maybe someone with me 2WD experience will chime in and correct me if I'm off base. Thanks again for watching!
My particular model doesn't have a front sway bar which really helps with articulation. Thats another area the adjustable front shocks really help out, turn them up and body roll on the highway disappears. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for taking the time to watch! It's just Rustoleum Charcoal paint with a Rustoleum high performance enamel Matte clear coat over it. I'm doing a Q&A episode on the truck in the next week or so and will go over more detail on the process; be sure to watch for that one to come out!
I get about 15mpg average if I stay under 70mph.. with the 4.88 gears it’s a bit too wound up faster than that and mpg drops. I haven’t calculated it pulling the adventure trailer but my guess is around 13ish..
Haha. Yeah, mine was a similar story, I had a shop meter my Mass Airflow Sensor and it turned out it was bad but not triggering my check engine light. I replaced it, the TPS sensor, installed an MSD distributor cap and rotor, new spark plugs and wires, a BBK throttle body and did a seafoam treatment to the manifold. Mileage and power jumped up immediately. Also, I drive like an old man..😇
It may be worth checking the voltage output on the TPS, it is possible for it not to be throwing a code but set optimally..It's also worth mentioning, because I forgot to in the video, but I have also replaced the throttle body with a BBK 56MM and set my timing at about 14 degrees TDS. I run premium fuel, which many will say is a waist, but I did get enough of a milage bump to compensate for the extra cost and It did make that 302 a bit more "spunky". My truck is also running a MAF sensor as opposed to a MAP system. 1994 and later trucks were equipped this way. MAF seems to take advantage of upgrades a little more efficiently. Not saying that you will get the same results, just possible reasons for the varying results..
I was just thinking of turning my obs into one haha. Good looking build man.

The 302 is a DOG for sure, but it was a durable motor. That’s my experience anyway.
Where did u get the bumper ?
I bought the metal kit from MOVE Bumpers, then modified and welded it up at home.
I just got a 1995 F150 xlt - i want it to look like yours when it grows up - is yours 4wd ?
Haha, nice! It is 4wd.
Mine is a 2wd what is the biggest tires I can put on without a lift kit ?
Hey Dane, Are you running with a sway bar?
My particular model doesn't have a front sway bar which really helps with articulation. Thats another area the adjustable front shocks really help out, turn them up and body roll on the highway disappears. Thanks for watching!
is this the 6.5 or 8ft bed?
This is the 6.5' bed.. maybe even shorter in the not-so-distant future...
can you please provide the brand and color of paint you used?
Thanks for taking the time to watch! It's just Rustoleum Charcoal paint with a Rustoleum high performance enamel Matte clear coat over it. I'm doing a Q&A episode on the truck in the next week or so and will go over more detail on the process; be sure to watch for that one to come out!
What kind of fuel mileage do you get with this truck? Nice looking truck by the way!
I get about 15mpg average if I stay under 70mph.. with the 4.88 gears it’s a bit too wound up faster than that and mpg drops. I haven’t calculated it pulling the adventure trailer but my guess is around 13ish..
@@MisfitOBS dang! I have a 93 F150 5.0 on 33’s with 3.55 gears and I can’t seem to get more than 11 mpg
Also, I drive like an old man..😇
@@MisfitOBS I’ve replaced all that stuff a couple times. Except the TPS. I only replaced that once.
